Argh so I'm following these guides to the letter and I still can't get this to work.
I've got everything installed correctly , I change the Master address for the controller on my PC, everything goes fine up until I unplug the controller from the PC and hit the Power button on the controller for it to pair with my phone. all 4 lights just flash on the controller and eventually go off and do nothing. Now while that happens, the phone says "Client connected:1" like its suppose to. But the controller is not connected and will not do anything at all.
I than plug it back into the computer and it seems whenever I unplug it, the master change doesn't save and it goes back to its default BT address.
I'm assuming the problem is because the master won't stick OR that's just because the controller isn't connecting to the device so it resets itself to its last known use? Thing is, the controller is brand new and has never been used on a PS3 since I don't own one.
Anyone have any insight on this? Spent $35 for the controller and another $2 for the app and can't use it at the moment :/
NOTE: My phone is the sprint GSIII despite what my sig says due to build.prop changes
EDIT: the compatibility checker indicated its compatible.
Do I need a USB OTG cord to connect it for the controllers first time being synced to a device maybe? Don't have a ps3 to connect it to unfortunately.
little bump, i have no useful information other than i read there was a way to pair the 2 using only the phone, not sure where i saw it tho, maybe on a youtube video on setting up sixaxis?
Im very interested to see if this works, as i want very badly to play n64 and other games on my projector with the mhl adapter, instead of having to use the usb for the controller, i would try it but don't own a sixaxis controller atm.
I did it with the otg cable with out a pc took me a minute to get but it worked. so I unplugged it. It is now wireless so I tried to Play dead trigger and a couple of other games and the controls wouldn't work right I was able to control the phone from the ps3 controller but no games and with the controller plugged in via otg cable games worked great

I have the AT&T version but I am sure they both work the same way.
Make sure you grab the correct bluetooth address from your phone, says it at the bottom of the phone in the app.
Then download the drivers and sixaxis pair tool application on the PC, make sure they are installed! Grab your PS3 dualshock controller and connect it to your PC. It should go through installing the drivers/making sure you have them installed, once its complete your current controllers master will be shown at the top. You need to change it so that it reads the same as your mobile phones address.
Once that is complete go back to your phone, open up the program and start the driver, now hold the ps button until you see it sync, if it isn't syncing then you have a problem with the address of either your phone or controller.
Or...
You can actually make a cheap OTG cable yourself with stuff you probably have laying around the house. All you need is an USB extender cable and a micro USB cable, along with some wire and a soldering kit.

When I used the app with my nexus s I had to use the computer tool, now with the galaxy all I had to do was plug it in with an otg cable, pair, and make sure you change the input method. Now I just start the app, press start on the app turn the controller on and it pairs instantly.

Yeah I got everything down but for some reason the controller isn't saving the master change. As soon as I unplug it from the PC after changing it, it goes right back to its default master. I continue to press the button on it anyway to pair with my phone and my phone said Client connected: 1 like its suppose to, but the controller lights just keep flashing another 5 seconds and it shuts off.
Assuming the master change isn't working. Tried both the new and old .exe's on the dev's site for the PC pair tool. :/
So if I get an OTG cord, I can do the initial pair with that and than it will pair wirelessly from there on out or I have to always use it with the cord that way?
Thanks guys.

Isn't a valid link
EDIT: got the link to work after all, and god its so easy with a OTG cable... hahah. Guess that's my best bet since this thing keeps being so stubborn about saving the master change when I do it on the PC. -.-

Have you tried using another PC program like MotionJoy? Downloading their drivers to see if you can change the master address with it instead? That would be my next suggestion if you are having issues with the master not sticking, obviously the best option would be to connect it to a PS3 first to make sure you at least have a default master.
If this doesn't work let me now, I'll try to think up some other ways before you have to purchase a cable to make it work.

Yeah I tried motion joy and the controller works great wired to the computer (Works on the PC I mean) but I don't have a Bluetooth adapter for my PC to pair it with unfortunately.
Note that whenever I sync the controller to MotionJoy, I'm unable to use that USB port with SixaxisPairTool because MotionJoy drivers were installed with that port and motionjoy instantly picks it up and makes it unrecognizable to the sixaxistool program (Uninstalling motionjoy solves this) but just thought I'd throw it out there.
I clicked BluetoothPair in motionjoy and the BT address shows different than the one Sixaxistool shows, when I choose Custom Master or whatever it says and type in my phones, it "changes" it on the screen and says it changed, I than unplug it from the PC and start the app on the phone, Press the PS button on the controller and the 4 lights blink, the phone says Client connected:1, but the lights all keep blinking and than shut off. If pressed again the blink than turn off. I than connect it back to the PC and the BT address is shown as the default one from before I choose custom.
Pretty much the Change Master only stays while its connected to the PC, soon as I unplug it the master resets. I verified that by changing it, closing the programs (Both motionjoy and sixaxistool, at separate times of course during their own individual attempts) and than reopen either program and it shows what I changed it to still. But like I said as soon as the cord comes out it resets.
Sorry for the wall of text, just trying to provide as much info as I can. I ordered a cable but that can always come in handy anyway and I'd like to see if we could still solve this without one maybe to save some cash for anyone that has this problem in the future ya know!

I know there was an issue with MotionJoy with having to put the address in "backwards" before it paired, I don't know if that was fixed or if that is still an issue. It's odd that it works fine when you plug it in to the PC but once you try wireless, it resets... I guess it's because you have yet to use the controller AS a bluetooth device, it has always been a wired connection. So you either have to pair it with a ps3, or with another bluetooth device.
Maybe you should just wait on the cable haha

Hahah yeah I pulled enough of my hair out and gave in on the cord thanks for trying though! I agree its probably related to being a new unused controller.

Argh okay got the cord. Controller works fine as a game pad. Works flawlessly on ShadowGun and Dead trigger which both have game pad function built in.
Can not get it to connect via Bluetooth still..
Tried exactly what the video showed and such.
Only thing I can think of is the controller could possibly be dead? Which I doubt because all the trouble shooting I've been doing (Connected to PC for an hour trying to get motion joy to go, connected to my phone the past 15min, I even plugged the USB into my wall adapter for my phone to see if it charged. Lights just blink than go off after like 5minutes. That mean its charged or what? Don't have a ps3, does it need one to charge? :/

I think its OEM? How would I go about checking?
It was this one:
www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0015AARJI/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1341986008&sr=8-1
But it wasn't the Amazon seller by default when I got it, it was a seller named Wireovia, they've got 4.8 stars with 3559 ratings so I didn't really think much of them being fakes? Price was $39 though I don't see them in the list of sellers now, but they were default before.
Also the controller didn't come with a cord, is that a sign of a fake or is that the same with Sony's official?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
EDIT: Well crap. I was looking at "How to spot a fake" guides and they mention two definite ways of telling, one being the battery inside is different and another being there is no screw under the sticker on the back on the official, whereas the fakes have a screw under there.
Now mine has what looks to be a screw without a screwable head on it under the sticker. Maybe the new fakes have the head of the screws taken off because they knew it gave it away? Idk. Going to take it apart tomorrow and see the battery.
Anyone know if its possible to return an opened item? Purchased June 29th received it on July 3rd. It came with an amazon lable saying "Returning is easy, go to our website blah blah blah" but mentioned it being unopened. Hmm..
Call Amazon's 800 number and tell them this isn't a genuine controller, and is giving you pairing difficulties. You don't have to say what kind. Ha ha. You should get your money back no problem.
Can others on the Canadian gsiii variants download the Sixaxis app from the market? Play thinks it's not compatible with my device (d2can / rogers).
I remember from before this app had issues working on devices running sense or touchwiz ui and I had problems with it on my stock vibrant and sgs2 but it runs well on aosp based roms.so today I flashes aokp r3 and low and behold it works now! Played
Dead trigger flawlessly earlier.T-Mobile sgs3 btw.

Would it be possible to link a PS3 controller to our phone? The only problem I could see would be linking them up... But it would be badass for emulators!

If I could do it through the phone I could play on my TV while I'm home, but also on the go anywhere that I have my phone, without having to export/import save files or play two separate games.

Yeah, that's the plan. Hoping to somehow link the controller for use with the phone. PS3 is tricky though because it requires a USB connection to a device in order to pair with it. I'm hoping to use a PC as an intermediary to 'introduce' them to each other and then it should (in theory) just be a matter of collecting/interpreting button press data and mapping it to the correct buttons in the phones emulator.

You are out of luck when trying to pair PS3 controller to Android. Can't be done at the moment.
Best bet is still the Wii remote (can use the classic controller as well) or purchasing a special type bluetooth gamepad off the net (just search Google and there are a few to choose from that do work well).

I'm sorry, but I refuse to believe that two bluetooth devices based on Linux can't somehow be paired. Maybe extra hardware needs to be introduced, and there'll probably be some reverse engineering involved, but if they can connect a wiimote to Android, and a ps3 controller to a windows phone, there has to be a way to make this work...

Pretty much I heard it comes down to being able to pair the thing with the phone. Maybe drivers too.
I'd say that, at least from a hardware perspective, all you should need is a wire that would plug into both of them. Haven't the slightest idea what you'd need from the software side though.

You have to use a cable. The ps3 controller may be Bluetooth but it uses a non standard protocol, rendering it completely incompatible with our evo's Bluetooth stack. People had to write custom drivers from the ground up to get the ps3 controller to work on the PC, but that jacks up your ability to use other normal Bluetooth functions (at least the last time I tried a month or two ago, it still did).

Instead of necroing a thread in the Evo 4G forums, how about posting this in the Evo 3D forums. I mean, that is the phone you have. Just sayin'.
Hello all,
I received my USB adapter from Samsung today and am pleased to inform you that it works wonderfully with a USB hub. My hub has 4 slots on it and the tab was playing well with multiple USB devices being plugged in.
Really? I guess usb hub is needed to make things work? i had all kinds of issues. Mainly, not reading some usb drives, and memory reader. I just plugged the usb drive, directly into the usb adapter. The memory card reader was connected by standard usb to mini usb cable. That didn't work.
I got to try this.
Thanks.
No problem. I actually have not tried storage devices yet, only input devices. I posted on your other thread as well.
I have a feeling thumb drives may be having a problem if they are formatted in the FAT32 file system. I am going to try an NTFS drive and external hard drive and will let you know my results.
UPDATE: It appears I had it the other way around. I plugged in an NTFS drive to no avail, then formatted it to FAT32 and it worked.
FAT32 works great. NTFS is completely missing from stock kernels, it's in pershoot's "lib" extra modules archive on his kernels. However, I tried an NTFS drive using the extra module and it failed. (might require some manual mount magic???) It would take a lot more work to get FUSE working properly, and that's needed for the (vastly superior) ntfs-3g driver.
So does it work with external usb hard drives (both self powered and plug powered) of the sizes of 500GB and more?
what brand/type
what brand/type of usb hub do you have

PS3 controllers require a special driver. It may also require too much current since it tries to charge via USB. You'll need a powered hub if that is the case.
Gonna try my PS3 controller in a few minutes.
Edit: So far:
No excessive current errors from my PS3 controller - however mine has a fully charged battery because it's been plugged into a PS3 that has only been playing movies/videos for weeks. However button presses aren't recognized by anything. My guess is that if I dmesg I'll get an unrecognized device error. PS3 controllers are nonstandard.
However a Nyko AirFlo controller worked fine in SNES9x EX. It was semi-recognized by SNESoid - the keymap screen recognized something was being pressed, but games themselves wouldn't register presses.
Edit 2: PS3 controllers require the hid-sony kernel module to be loaded. This is included in pershoot's optional "lib" archive with his kernels. I had to hit the PS button to get it to turn on and start sending presses to the tab. No excessive current errors, but my controller was fully charged.
Thanks. But for some reason the ps3 and the x box controller worked for the xoom. I called samsung and they don't have any help for this issue yet. Can you get any external device to work for at least over fifty percent of what the adapter is meant to do? Did you get any error messages. I get high powered device connected. Samsung can't figure out why that is happening either. Plz help.

Make sure the PS3 controller is fully charged before you connect it. If it isn't, it'll try to charge the battery and that's probably what sets off the overcurrent protection.
As to it working with the Xoom - I'd be VERY surprised if it worked with the Xoom when stock. Not so surprised about custom kernels, adding those modules is one of the first things people add, and the Xoom guys may have figured out module autoloading.

For SNESoid, you probably forgot to go into the other settings menu and turn on external input. The names may be off, but in addition to setting the key mappings, you have to turn on another option for it to see additional input devices, and then your gamepad will work

I had troubles reading an SD card with an old USB reader I had lying around. It was hit and miss.
Then I bought this SD card reader at Fry's for $4.99 and it works perfectly.
So, just to be clear, you are using a male A-A USB cable with one end plugged into the USB adapter on the GTab and the other end into one of the available USB ports in the hub, right?
So i recently bought a ps3 sixaxis controller from amazon ( apparently not sony oem, but it cost me like 40 bucks) and ive been trying to make it work with my GS2 for the past week with no luck... Ive downloaded the sixaxis program for my phone and the pairing tool for my PC .. Ive already made sure that the Bluetooth address matches the one from my phone with the pairing tool, and so then i start the sixaxis program on my phone, I click start (and power on my controller, all the lights are flashing) it says its trying to start the first connection but bluetooth connection failed .. so its attempting a second connection, and finally it says client connected :1, my controller though is still flashing all the lights and then it eventually stops and my screen reads client disconnected . What am i doing wrong ? ive tried the deodexed rom and seamster rom , nothing seems to pair it up, anyone else have this problem? Ive checked other posts but it seems to either be working or not working for some people .
Maybe it doesn't work because it's not sony oem?

Sorry for this but to get started........
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR A BROKEN PHONE OR A MESSED UP CONTROLLER. IT SHOULDN’T HAPPEN AT ALL BUT IT COULD SINCE YOU ARE CHANGING THE BLUETOOTH ADDRESS FOR THE CONTROLLER IN THIS MOD. THE APP EVEN SAYS NOT FOR THE FAINT-HEARTED.
Mods please let me know if it is in the wrong section.
Note: You do not need a PS3 to do this.
Well, now that’s over with, let’s get started.
You need:
A rooted SGSIII (mine is ATT, but others should work.)
A computer/laptop
A Sony PS3 Wireless Sixaxis Dualshock 3 Controller
A Sony PS3 Wireless Sixaxis Dualshock 3 Controller USB mini cable
The Sixaxis Compatibility Checker (to check to make sure your rooted SGSIII will work.)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...kaW9zLnNpeGF4aXNjb21wYXRpYmlsaXR5Y2hlY2tlciJd
The Sixaxis Controller App to make the controller work with the phone
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...5ncGl4ZWxzdHVkaW9zLnNpeGF4aXNjb250cm9sbGVyIl0.
SixaxisPairTool (For changing bluetooth address on controller)
http://www.dancingpixelstudios.com/sixaxiscontroller/tool.html
The Website for the Instructions for getting things to work.
http://www.dancingpixelstudios.com/
First with your rooted SGSIII, download the The Sixaxis Compatibility Checker from the link above to make sure you can do the mod.
Next buy/get these items: A Sony PS3 Wireless Sixaxis Dualshock 3 Controller and
A Sony PS3 Wireless Sixaxis Dualshock 3 Controller USB mini cable.
Charge the controller through a USB port till charged with the cord you bought. I don’t have a PS3 so I charged the controller through either a computer USB port or my Nintendo Wii USB port. The controller wouldn’t charge through a wall socket.
Download the Sixaxis Controller App to find your bluetooth address of the phone and use the app for later use.
After the controller is charged, you need to download the bluetooth changing address tool called SixaxisPairTool from the link above to your computer. All directions are there. Once that is installed, connect the charged controller to the computer with the cord you bought and let the computer install all drivers of the controller on the computer. When drivers are installed, follow the directions on the website and on the tool to change the bluetooth address to match the phone's bluetooth address.
Once you have changed the bluetooth address and installed the app on the phone, activate the Sixaxis Controller App and once it says searching or looking for controllers, press the Playstation symbol button on the controller to connect the controller.
Once it connects, the the hardest part starts.
Side note: Please use this site for any questions regarding the Sixaxis App and connecting the controller to the phone if you get stuck. The link is crucial in some parts of the guide since it has directions to get this mod working.
What I mean by hard is once you have it connected, or at least for me. I had to map all the button presses within the app for each game to work. Basically it’s trial and error especially in the settings menu. I will post screenshots eventually for the three games I have installed to better explain.
Future plans for this guide include game mapping pics and a ton of screenshots to help newer users with customizing the settings.
Any questions, comments, or stuff to make this guide better please post in thread.
Please let me know if something is totally off since its different for me making a guide and already knowing how to do this mod.
Here is the NBA Jam for example.

Since most of the cool and good games cost money, I am proposing that anyone that has games they own and I haven't already posted, to please PM the control layouts to me. Then let me know in the thread that you sent the PM. Don't post pics in the thread or this thread will be extremely hard to load. I will post them then in the OP, give you credit in the OP for them, and I will hit the thanks button for whoever post there pics THROUGH PM.
The control layouts are the big pics in the OP if you have no idea what they are.

You can take a screenshot of your game while all the buttons are shown and then import the image into sixaxis to make button mapping much easier.
Go to Preferences > Touch Emulation > Edit Touch Profiles ... double tap for menu and choose the Change Background option, you can pick a previously taken screenshot to help get your button placement perfect.
Will be updating as I go.

Yes. I saw a video on youtube with it working. You need to map the buttons though. Best way to do that is to look at the game buttons on screen and match it on the sixaxis app.

I don’t mean to hijack this thread but is it possible to control games/roms using the N64oid app using a PS3 controller connected via USB? I only ask because I have connected my PS3 sixaxis controller to my S3 via USB and I can control my home screens but it will not control the games/roms themselves.
Thanks

Thanks for the info, i didn't know you could do this. Yeah, I always hated how playing an emulator, my thumb and fingers would take up half the screen.
I'm pretty sure you can just hook up the ps3 controller with usb cable to re-pair the bluetooth with the ps3. I have a bluetooth dongle on my pc that i use the ps3 controller with, so i just hook it up with a cable when i'm done and that seems to work.
Question though, how bad does this kill your battery and what is the response on the controls? You probably can't set deadzones i'm guessing. EDIT: Never mind you can set deadzones. how do the buttons feel though?

You should be able too. I am not sure if you have to map out the buttons though.
I will might try and if i do will report back.

Should just be playing like a game normaly with a tad bit extra juice taken out. Yes there is a deadzone option. If you set the right options, the buttons feel great. All the games I play with the controller feel great. I dont usually play with a ps3 controller so i personally have to get used to that.

Can't freaking pair
I have a genuine Sony DualShock 3 Sixaxis controller. I have tried to reset the master bluetooth address of the controller using the Sixaxis Pair Tool. Each time I click Update it appears to update the address with the one from the phone. However, each time I try to pair the controller after that following directions on the DancingPixel website the controller doesn't pair. The lights keep flashing instead of stopping with only one light staying on.
So, I got an OTB adapter because I've read that if you connect the phone to the controller and then try to pair them it worked for some people. But when I try that the controller works when plugged in to the phone but it never pairs with the phone. When I go to the bluetooth settings and select the controller from the list to pair it pops up a message saying "Unable to communicate with PLAYSTATION(R)3Controller-ghic" and fails to pair.
Any help would be appreciated.

Did you put : in the spaces of the numbers of the bluetooth address and match it exactly? The zeros can look the letter o. That could be the issue too. I will look into the issue tonight and let you know.

Yes, I entered the address correctly. When I click Update it shows in the app that the Master address was what I entered but then when I unplug the usb cord (as instructed) and then press the power button on the controller (as instructed) the lights keep flashing.
Then, when I plug in the controller again to the usb cord the app shows the original bluetooth address of the controller and not what I just updated it to.
I also have an HTC One X which I haven't bothered to root yet to try doing this with that phone so see if I get the same results with both phones. If that happens then maybe it's my controller that is wonky. I will report back the results of what happens with my HTC One X.

This is what makes me wonder. Sorry to keep asking you questions, but did you install all of the controllers drivers?
Did you install the latest sixaxispairtool which is 0.2.3?
Edit: there is a reset button on the back of the controller which a paper clip can do.
Its to the right of the screw.
Edit 2: My pair controller never worked either. I just hit the start button and when the phone app says listening for contoller i pressed the playstation symbol button and it connected button after i changed the bluetooth address though.

It worked on my HTC One X. It took me a while to root it (there's a one-click root but it's a bit confusing) but I got it rooted and then tried again with this phone and it paired the first time. Now that I know it can work and I can get it to work on one of my phones I will try again on my GS3. I may try pressing the reset on the controller as you suggested just for $hits and giggles.
I will report back after I give it another go.
Are you sure it's a genuine controller? It sounds like a fake by the issues you are having.

I'm pretty sure it's genuine since I got it from Amazon from a reputable seller and it came in the original packaging and it has all the original markings on it. I mean, if it's a fake it's a damn good one. Besides, I got it to pair fine with my HTC One X phone on the first try. I just can't get it to pair with this GS3 for the life of me.
I went through this exercise only because I've been playing Dead Trigger and my big hands and fingers make the screen go nuts sometimes. I prefer to play it on the GS3 (it just seems faster) but I can settle for playing it on my One X. I can use it on the GS3 if I connect the controller to the phone via the OTG USB cable but that sort of defeats the purpose of buying a wireless controller.
Changing the Bluetooth address of the controller doesn't effect its ability to connect with the PS3 after does it?

Hallo everyone,
I'm new in this forum and I hope I am right here.
So the Fire TV is new in Germany and I preordered it.
It would be fine if I will be able to use my wireless Xbox 360 Controller with it.
I have read that it is possible to use the original wireless receiver for PC.
But what's about the remake from it (the version from China)? For PC I have to install the drivers manually.
Is it possible to use? Has somebody tried it?
For example like the "White PC USB Gaming Receiver Adapter White For Xbox 360 Wireless Controller" on amazon.com
Sorry I'm not allowed to post links.
Thanks!

Hello
Yes, i have one from ebay (chinese clone) and it works fine. Lights in the controller doesn´t light up as usually but that happens with the official receiver also.
Hey,
I'm using a knockoff chinese receiver. I got mine on amazon for about 13 USD and it works great. It can be a little tricky to configure the controls with Mupen 64 or whatever emulator you are using, and the 'x' home key always takes you back to the games section of the kftv launcher (despite having xbmc set as the launcher, for example), but it works in game just fine.
Let me know if you have any questions- I'd be happy to help.
Can you connect more than one Controller on that adapter? I read, that 4 Controller + 4 headsets are possible with this adapter (on a PC). Whould be nice for multiplayer games...
Gesendet von meinem GT-I9295 mit Tapatalk
I haven't tried headsets, but I've used at least two controllers at once, and I also understand up to 4 per receiver works (theoretically more receivers = more players, but I'm not buying another one to test that theory).
How to hook up third party controllers correctly
I was searching the web up and down in order to get my third party controller (china) to work without a solution. Actually it was easier than I thought:
- connect the dongle
- restart the Fire TV (5 sec hold of Play+Big Button)
- press X on controller
The controller doesn't stop blinking but if you are able to navigate through menus everything worked well.
I bought this receiver from amazon (www (dot) ebay (dot) com/itm/271687378076?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT) and it's not working when I plug it into the Fire TV. I believe the receiver works though because when I plugged it into my mac and I was able to see all the keys responding using 360Controller.
Everybody seems to have minimal issues connecting controllers to their Fire TV. Any ideas?
(Sorry, I don't have enough posts to post links.)

I'm sorry, but it'd be tough to replicate the issue without a device to test with. That receiver looks identical to the one I purchased, but I don't know if it is actually the same on the inside.
I don't know about on OSX, but I found that I could pair the xbox controller with the receiver on my windows PC (using the generic driver). Once I had paired on Windows, I could plug the adapter into anything running android and it would work just fine.
That's the first place I would start- try pairing a controller and making it work on a machine running Windows or OSX or whatever is 'supposed' to work. That way, you can at least tell if the hardware is bad. If you are able to pair and use it on one of those machines, plug it into your Fire TV and use the same controller and see if it recognizes it.
If it works on OSX or Windows but not on the Fire TV, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe pick up a USB OTG adapter and see if you can get it running on another android system. I haven't found a phone / tablet yet that hasn't been plug and play with the adapter.
Lastly, and this is unlikely, it could be that you are running a USB hub that isn't able to provide sufficient power. If that is the case, unplug all other USB devices and test it in the port. If it works there, the hub / draw of other devices is your problem. I'd recommend getting a powered USB hub in that case.

Thanks for the suggestions but I don't think the adapter will work with the Fire TV. I'm not using a hub anywhere in the setup.
I can pair the controller to a Windows machine using the adapter and the generic driver. I'm able to see the computer register all the inputs using the joy.cpl (app?) in Windows. When I plug the adapter into the Fire TV afterwards, I still can't control anything with the controller. Does the ADB debugging switch make a difference? I have the adb over usb set to OFF.
What's an USB OTG and where can I get one? What adapter did you pick up that worked? It might be better if I just picked up the same one instead of troubleshooting this one. Open to any other ideas though.

I'm still not convinced the device is not malfunctioning. Did you actually connect and use a controller to control the PC? It could be that the device is connecting and sending some information, but the part that actually connects to the controller is broken. On Windows, you can just download the driver and install it as per these instructions: https://krisrowland.wordpress.com/2...eless-controller-adapter-in-windows-7-64-bit/
I'm pretty sure this is the controller I bought. Like I said, it looks the same as yours. I'm confident you just got a bad unit.

It's been a while since I've actually used it, but if I remember right it does work if you map it properly in the emulator you are using. For example, Mupen 64 has support for rumble packs, and I'm about 80% certain it works.
hi mate did you ever get this working, i have the same issue, bought a cheap receiver from ebay. hooked it up to laptop, installed driver, worked fine. connect to fire tv, nothing!
ARGH!!!!
The cheap china clones just making problems with Android aka FireTV. That's what I heard.
But the original adapter makes me sometimes Problems too. Sometimes the Box Start in security Mode (grey written in the left corner of the screen) or had to replug them After Start to let the Box recognice the adapter again.
I bought two very great Bluetooth Controller from "mi". Really nice. Like Xbox 360 Controller. You can buy it cheap @ allbuy.com.

Hi there, I'm having the same issue here.
HARDWARE: - FireTV 2.0
- xbox 360 wireless chinadapter
- xbox 360 wireless controller
I've turned off the dev settings on my firetv, connected the 360 controller via my chinadapter to my pc to verify that it's paired and working. Plugged my adapter into my firetv. Restarted firetv. Pressed the silver X button, the blue x button, the ))) connect button... Still nothing. I've gone into the "Add a new controller" area (where it tries to establish connectivity) and tried everything I can think of. I was really excited about this and am kinda bummed. Not wanting to buy extra controllers really.
- something noone else has mentioned running into - the firetv seems to crash or reset itself when I push the ))) connect button on the chinadapter receiver. . . weird. . .

UPDATE:
I got it to interact randomly. Unfortunately it was unacceptably buggy. Crashing games, not recognizing inputs and, well, everything that might be awful about a controller. So I guess I'm looking into cheap bluetooth controllers. def not spending $50 on Amazons controller to play freaking android games lol let alone games in the amazon app store. Thanks for the thread and any advice on getting it to work properly you may have discovered.
I am having the issue of not being able to connect my 360 controller via the Chinese adapter to the fire tv....I have got it working in windows but it wont connect on the fire tv. I have disabled developer options restarted the fire tv and hit the x button to try to connect but I get nothing.
