Samsung OTA stuck on reboot - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I got the update message (41.2) MB.
It is being downloaded and verifies.
I then select to restart & install.
The phone starts booting, but stays on the Google logo for a very long time (more than half an hour).
To try the update again I have to take the battery out, restart the phone (which shows 4.0.2), clear Google Services Framework and check for update.
The updates download etc. etc.
My phone is not rooted and it had no problem in the past updating OTA to 4.0.2
Thanks

So you are trying to update "YAKJUXW" 4.0.2 to 4.0.4?
hmm.. have you flashed any custom kernel or another radio baseband and are you using custom Clockworkmod..?
try to make backup of the 4.0.2 if possible (move to somewhere PC, hardware,..) and then make factory reset and try then update it to 4.0.4

No. Nothing like this.
I will try the factory reset if I can't fix it without it.
Thanks

I've been experiencing same. Bought GalNex from (apparently) Poland before Play store. It is yakjuxw. Past two weeks it's tried to update itself 3 times and just sits at (white) Google on black screen for a very long time.
I actually have to remove battery to recover. Then all is well, but no firmware update and if i follow reddit.com's -> ysk_how_to_get_the_404_ota_quicker to "force" the update, same result.
Did your factory reset solve the problem?
oh4real

No resolution
Sorry, I did nothing so far. I'm still on 4.0.2.
When I get the time, I'm likely to move on to a rooted yakju.
If you do manage to resolve it, please tell us.
Thanks

Where is the OTA update??????

Ok
The first time it showed up (when activating), it offered the OTA update and I declined. Then I took it home, rooted the phone, and everything went well...
BUT I can't find the OTA update anymore... and the SD card bug is killing me!!!!
Is there any other way of installing it?????
From the main screen
Menu - Settings - System Updates
Check all 4 to see if any updates are available but im pretty sure "HTC software update" was the OTA
Actually go over to android central and download rvu 1.1 its based on the newest ruu with that update included and its still rooted
Btw this should be in general section not development
I know, but it keeps telling me that there is no update available!!!
And I am running
Baseband: 1.39.00.04.26
Build: 1.32.651.1 CL171253 test-keys
Software: 1.32.651.1
And it keeps telling me YOUR PHONE IS UP TO DATE
Is there any way to force it????

But, that ruu is missing may of the included apps (all the sprint and HTC ones, and I need them). Also, it wipes all the information....,
So, no other way?
Besides I read that that particular ruu kills the 4g radio...
So, I am the only one or most of you are running without the OTA update?
I like to root, in fact the wifi tethering is working great, but the SD issue is really annoying....

i too couldn't get the update to re-show up after not accepting it the first time. i went to system updates and tried both htc and firmware, and the OTA update still wouldn't show. Then i enabled wifi, soft reset, and boom, it showed up. Give it a try, worked for me....

Well, I had it on wifi all the time, and no luck.... now... when you say "soft reset", how exactly? I just turn it off, and then turn it on again... Is there a soft reset option that I am missing somewhere?
If the root changed your recovery you likely won't get OTA's anymore.

Ok, that's what I was suspecting...
So.. what are my options now? Is there a way of getting the updates manually? or is there a way of changing the recovery back or modifying some settings to re-allow updates?
I had the same problem after installing one of the custom firmware images. Never could get the OTA to show up. I ended up installing the stock .6 firmware using the RUU.
Look for the "[ROM]RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.6" thread in EVO 4 Android Development. (sorry, new user account on the forums, it won't let me post links yet).

Thanks, I will try again, but I never put on USB debugg.
Could it be that the update file is saved in a folder and the phone never download it again as I will do a reset?
Thanks again !!
The file is saved, but I do not know where. will prompt you to install again.

The bootloader has to be locked. check

You could try a manual update to 4.0.2.
But attention, you will loose all data, pictures, contacts, apps etc.
Factory 4.0.2 Builds and tools for installing them can be found here:
http://code.google.com/intl/de/android/nexus/images.html
Just get the image you need (GSM/LTE) and follow the simple instructions.
I tried with power, vol up and vol down. There i saw that the bootloader its lock

Since the problem does not install the missing files. download is not complete
WiFi to try again
Shinjitu OTA updates after installing 4.0.2 manual are no problem.
These ones are factory images, like the ones that newer GNx get flashed before sale.

Right, first of all, before re-flashing your phone, go to Here
You have Takju, which basically means you have Google Wallet installed, you can try the Yakju images, though. I'd first try to flash with fastboot, then use Odin as a last resort, because you'll need to use fastboot, at some time in that device's history

The only difference between yakju and takju is Google wallet, there is no need to change between the two.
To the OP: have you tried flashing different radios or kernels?

Follow this to flash back to stock 4.0.2. Your issue will disappear when you are back to 4.0.2.
As was mentioned before, it is a known issue with 4.0.4 for only SOME users. Not sure what is the cause. Others, like myself, never had the issue.
Not sure the reason for this issue here either, but for me I have had this issue on all 4.0.4 roms regardless of kernel or radio with the exception of Cyanogenmod.
Dont know what the reason is but I have no data droping issues when on Cyanogenmod no matter the modem or kernel.
Maybe give it a try.

Any radio will work, what one are you using now??
Of the reports I've read from users with this issue. Only the stock 4.0.4 ROM doesn't have signal drop issues.
I've also experienced intermittent signal drop running AOKP-M5. But never a dropped call. I guess mine isn't as bad as others. I have updated to the latest radio and haven't really noticed the signal drop of late; though I haven't been watching for it.

No, flashing a new radio will NOT solve the issue. It is an issue with 4.0.4 that some users are having, and not tied to the radio.
Thank you for any person replied me

Dead Robot

I got the Bell Canada Galaxy Nexus, which ran the yakjuux and I flashed it 2months ago to Google's yakju.
I did the Framework trick: Settings -> Apps -> All -> Google Services Framework -> Clear data
It downloads the update and everything, but once it restarts to install Jellybean, I get the green Android robot dead on the floor with a red warning sign on it lol. After a min or so, it restarts and I get the old colorful shapes and I'm back to ICS I go to "Check now", nothing.
I think you're getting in the recovery but without a recovery installed...
That's the screen you get when you go into recovery without having installed an actual recovery system. Try following the tutorial to get permanent recovery from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1357642 and following this tutorial here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28178320&postcount=2
You must be completely stock for the OTA to apply. Looking at your screenshot your problem is your radio. You must have XXLA2 for yakju. You can download the radio here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24193754&postcount=315
ALSO: The above post is incorrect.

Would this radio work on Bell network? I did have some experience with the network going grey and reconnecting back to blue, it does that sometimes and sometimes it'll go all grey and I have to reboot the phone. Sorry, I'm kinda new to this.

Yes it will work just fine and its required for the yakju OTA.
Also when you flashed yakju did you also flash the bootloader? It is also required for the OTA.

[Q] Problem with updating to 4.2

Hello there, I have a problem.
I have Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Takju, build JZO54K, version 4.1.2
I'm in Slovakia, O2 provider (don't know if that helps)
Today(November 19) I've got notification that I can update to 4.2 (same thing happened four days ago(November 15)), so I started updating.
I saw the icon of Android guy, with some blue wires or something. Than the icon changed, the Android guy was lying and there was red triangle with exclamation mark in it.
Did it happen to anyone else? Is there some problem with my phone or should I just wait and the update will eventually arrive?
Sorry for my english, and thank you for your help

No. I would like to be updated automatically, I don't want to make it manually if I don't have to. Because I would screw it up.
4.2 Update issue
It could be that the phone isnt accepting the phone over the OTA (OVER THE AIR) ive seen this issue before on android phone usually if it wont take it OTA the only other way flash it manually . you dont necessary have to root phone you can always look for the OTA UNROOTED Image which you can flash through fastboot

Try this.....boot the phone and go to settings >>>apps>>>all>>>>Google frameworks service>>>>>clear the cache AND THEN the data in that order....when you go back to check on the update it'll say last checked 12/31/69 you want to see that and then search for the update....that clears framework and helps pull the update to your device....I've used this method and it worked for me with ICS after 3-4 tries give it a go and let us know what happens
