Ok
The first time it showed up (when activating), it offered the OTA update and I declined. Then I took it home, rooted the phone, and everything went well...
BUT I can't find the OTA update anymore... and the SD card bug is killing me!!!!
Is there any other way of installing it?????
From the main screen
Menu - Settings - System Updates
Check all 4 to see if any updates are available but im pretty sure "HTC software update" was the OTA
Actually go over to android central and download rvu 1.1 its based on the newest ruu with that update included and its still rooted
Btw this should be in general section not development
I know, but it keeps telling me that there is no update available!!!
And I am running
Baseband: 1.39.00.04.26
Build: 1.32.651.1 CL171253 test-keys
Software: 1.32.651.1
And it keeps telling me YOUR PHONE IS UP TO DATE
Is there any way to force it????

But, that ruu is missing may of the included apps (all the sprint and HTC ones, and I need them). Also, it wipes all the information....,
So, no other way?
Besides I read that that particular ruu kills the 4g radio...
So, I am the only one or most of you are running without the OTA update?
I like to root, in fact the wifi tethering is working great, but the SD issue is really annoying....

i too couldn't get the update to re-show up after not accepting it the first time. i went to system updates and tried both htc and firmware, and the OTA update still wouldn't show. Then i enabled wifi, soft reset, and boom, it showed up. Give it a try, worked for me....

If the root changed your recovery you likely won't get OTA's anymore.

Ok, that's what I was suspecting...
So.. what are my options now? Is there a way of getting the updates manually? or is there a way of changing the recovery back or modifying some settings to re-allow updates?
I had the same problem after installing one of the custom firmware images. Never could get the OTA to show up. I ended up installing the stock .6 firmware using the RUU.
Look for the "[ROM]RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.6" thread in EVO 4 Android Development. (sorry, new user account on the forums, it won't let me post links yet).

Seems to be working for nag removal. Note it's an older thread that was reborn so look at the more recent stuff beginning on page 2.
Found this on a Google search and this worked for me and much easier that previous methods discussed:
To disable the OTA Notification Nag:
Use Root Explorer or another root compatible file explorer and rename /system/etc/security/otacerts.zip. to /system/etc/security/otacerts.zip.bak.

This is working for me so far.
All I did was a reboot and it went away. I never accepted it or otherwise.
I'm on a DINC I rooted with Unrevoked3 just this past Saturday. Other than rooting I've made no changes. When I check Settings/About phone/System Updates the OTA is gone and it says it's up to date. I'm still on v2.2 with no change however.
Having said that my Bluetooth STINKS. I was half wondering if this update could have fixed that for me, then re-root.
You could always install a different ROM. CM7.1 and probably earlier versions of CM7 don't get OTA nag screens
I did the rename trick mentioned above. Haven't been nagged since. It's been about 8 hours.

I was surprised to find that this worked for me as well. All I did was power down and restart. The notification was there when it finished booting up, and the System Update still showed up in Settings/About phone/System Updates. Once I cleared the notification, with no other changes, I hadn't received a nag over the next 18 hours. I checked Settings/About phone/System Updates again this morning and it now says I'm up to date. I'm running incubus26jc's version of 4.06.605.2.

Hi, I will try to be as consice and thorough as possible since I looked for it but didn´t find a similar post.
I bought a USA's A100. I had it with its factory rom, rooted and working fine.
The last week I saw an OTA upgrade and applied it (a short file) thinking it was to migrate to ICS. Then, after reset, it showed me a larger OTA upgrade: Acer_A100_041.202.01_COM_GEN2 (right now it's at HC 3.2.1 A100_2.013.02_COM_GEN2). First it gave me the known network problem message, but finally I downloaded and applied the OTA file, it failed showing an android with an exclamation point, and after one minute, reset itself to the menctioned HC.
I've downloaded and tried the same file several times with different scenarios. I even restored factory defaults via settings->privacy menu. All without success.
I found that the reset method menctioned here (power button + volume up) doesn't work for me: and as soon as it boot into recovery mode (a small console at top left with some text lines and an android with gears working) I get the warning sign with the exclamation point again and after a minute, it goes back into HC.
Any ideas on how to fix it to try the upgrade to ICS again?
I made some progress
I found that the power buttom + volumen up is for entering into recovery mode, which doesn't work in my case. I also found a hard reset method: power buttom + volume down + moving the lock switch while booting. It gives me similar results to settings->privacy->restore factory settings. Now I'm shure my bootloader is working fine.
So the question turns into: what can I do to make my tablet take the OTA upgrade from 3.2.1 GEN2 to 4.0.3 GEN2?
Thanks

Downgrade to GEN1.. and then go to ICS...it would help. In Acer's own words... few GEN2 builds have compatibility issues with updates...
remove root
To update you a100 you need not to be root... it happened to me and i did a full restore hc rom without root... after 2 updates ICS arrives...

Maybe, but in one hand I read that some people downgraded from 3.2.1 GEN2 to 3.2 GEN1 to receive "your device is up to date" (sort of) messages, and on the other hand, why would acer/google push an invalid/incompatible update to my device? It doesn´t make sense.
Anyways, I´ve captured the pushed OTA 2.013.02_COM_GEN2 update.zip to 041.202.01_COM_GEN2, put it on my external_sd, but it didn´t take it. So I am collecting updates.zip from over this forum, but so far 2.007.4 or 2.013.04 doesn´t work for me either.
[Update]
So, will try downloading 3.2 GEN1 1.014.08 to try later 3.2.1 GEN1 and finally 4.0.3 GEN1 to see if it works for me.
It seems that there may be some GEN1`s that are not getting updated.
I am running stock, no root.

ICS Update
I had the same problem. This is what I did.
Turned off the Automatically check for system updates.
Then pressed check now and that found the updates.
There is no way to flash without external_sd ?
If i enter in Recovery mode it found a update.zip (i think it's the 17mb update) and start to flash but end with error.. then.. where is the update.zip which it found ?
if i try to search update.zip by adb

Yes. You can re-apply it as long as is HC, ICS is another stuff, WIP for what I read.
Anyways, going back to the original post:
I was able to downgrade from 3.2.1 GEN2 to 3.2 GEN1 to start over from 3.2.1 GEN1 to a newer 3.2.1 GEN1, and finally to ICS PA_CA GEN1. It was all OTA. Sweet, until it boot the new OS. Now I don´t have spanish GUI, only Canadian English & French as well as something I think means Chinese (2).
How do I add a new language support to ICS?, and
Anyone found how to root ICS? (which problably I will need).
Im running Acer_A100_2007. 02_COM_GEN2, and just got back notification of a 227 mb update. Downloaded, installed, but mid way through the screen with the green android logo with the turning gears, it rebooted. But it rebooted into this version of HC (to be honest, I'm not sure if it was a different version before), and it says I'm up to date...
Did i just fail my ics update too, or did acer release a huge HC update?
Hi,
Finaly, i have ICS but not without issue :
I was on 2.013.03_PA_CA and each time i downloaded ICS (don't remember the version but it was a PA_CA with 192.56 Mo or something like) the procedure fails at about 25%.
After 6 or 7 failure i decided to downgrade to HC GEN1 (don't remember the version) and i continued to upgrade my A100 until ICS.
And all was without issue. Now i have ICS ACER_AV041_A100_1.017.00_PA_CA
I think PA_CA is linked to the serial number ( like IMEI for my phone P970 : LG give me only update from my GSM provider)
In fine, thanks to the forum for helping me.

I don´t think so. My unit was originally a COM_GEN2. I switched into a GEN1, and in the end I was also given the PA_CA upgrade. So what I see is Acer/google are giving us differential upgrade files based upon the original firmware, and that lead us in one direction or another (some working some not, BTW).

You will lose root but you can reroot using the ICS rooting method by ZeroNull in the dev section. I've rooted all the ICS this way including the leaked 9,12,14 and the official OTA. I've also been able to go back and forth to any version even to HC (requires hard reset) by doing the manual flash.

I've been experiencing same. Bought GalNex from (apparently) Poland before Play store. It is yakjuxw. Past two weeks it's tried to update itself 3 times and just sits at (white) Google on black screen for a very long time.
I actually have to remove battery to recover. Then all is well, but no firmware update and if i follow reddit.com's -> ysk_how_to_get_the_404_ota_quicker to "force" the update, same result.
Did your factory reset solve the problem?

From Settings>>About Device do baseband and build still show as MC3? Is kernel dated something prior to August 2013 (I think MC3 was April 2013)? (can you post a screenie?)
Have you made any customizations to your phone - i.e. build.prop tweaks, debloating, freezing of apps, removal of system apps, anything else that might have modified the /system partition? Any of this would cause the OTA process to abort and stall like you have seen.

If you are running the stock recovery, try downloading the CWM package I posted here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449972
Download to your PC and copy to your internal sdcard (the one that shows up as "phone"). Power off phone then boot recovery via home+vol up+power
Then use the side load option to run the CWM zip. If all goes well and your system partition is pure this will update your system, kernel, and modem to MH3. Upon phone boot, your recovery will update to MH3.

Fair point - if you are running a custom recovery, follow the steps above, but run the CWM zip file as you would any other CWM zip from a custom recovery... but from your prior responses, I'm guessing you are running stock recovery and the update process just got confused somewhere... perhaps because one of the stock apps was deleted.
Pay attention when the CWM zip is running.. if it fails you will get an error message showing the file it fails on. I may be able to help you further from there - assuming it's only a file or two that has an issue.

So after months and months of trying to update my phone to I317UCAMH3 I finally got my phone to update to what is now 4.3. Like many of you I tried everything I know how to such as:
-Reverting my phone to 4.1.1 and updating to 4.12 on Kies. same issue
-Resetting the flash counter after performing a data wipe....same issue
-Master reset....same issue
-Going to the Samsung service center and receiving the dumbest answer ever they told me my "cookies" preventing my phone from updating. (biggest idiots ever LOL)
So I was finally able to resolve this issue and receive my updates by switch my wife's sim card from her S3 to my phone and it worked like a charm. So my recommendation is if your having this issue it's more than likely occurring because of a faulty sim card and if you are unable to switch with another phone then go to the ATT store and they will give you a free one. Please let me know if this works for you.

I have an AT&T Note 2 and is unlocked as I moved to Canada. My new carrier is Telus and until recently, around the same time as the KitKat, my great reception went bad. I've confirmed that it is not a hardware issue and appears to be related to updating my phone. For whatever reason I can't update the software on my phone. Kies is of no use and I don't have access to an AT&T sim card to try the new solution. I've tried the hard reset.
I've never rooted the phone and recently reset the phone to resolve the issues. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Called AT&T to see if they could push Lollipop to my device. No dice. Tried the "move ahead one calendar day" trick, but it didn't work. Now it shows that I can't check again for 702 hours. Ha! Any other suggestions? Maybe it just hadn't rolled out to everyone yet. I'm in Chicago, if that matters.
If you don't have an issue wiping your data then you can use the stock Odin file in the general sub to flash it back to stock and update again.
I had my wife's phone updated with a push from AT&T. She had the same issue. They have to file a ti let and tech department did it but took a few days.

Thanks for the help! Did you do it over support chat on their site or the phone?

Thanks! Yeah, I might just do this.
Also if you factory restore your phone it will go back to the default 24hr wait.
I haven't really messed around with root stuff in a while, but I know even without root we used to be able to download the update, put it in the root or the SD card and rename it update.zip . Does this not work anymore? I really thought there would be a way to force the update somehow..

That would work if someone has captured the zip file or the download URL, which no one has done. Virtually every 5.0.1 related thread has someone asking for this, with the same response. No one has it, and if they did, it would be available in a stickied post.
Oh the woes of waiting for updates lol.
I remember with my OG moto droid waiting for 2.1 lol.
And how 2.2 blew my mind. Now look at it.
i had to flash oem kitkat to my att note 4, which right after the flash immediately got lollipop.
if you do got to the Samsung kiosk have them re-flash kitkat. then the download for lollipop will update after setup.
Force update to marshmallow?
Hi, absolute idiot when it comes to stuff like this.
So, i was searching through my apps list when i noticed AT&T software update.
I dont need any AT&T applications as i am in Australia and do not have AT&T.
i have tried to force an update by following the clearing data and force stopping the Google services frame work.
tried it multiple times, nothing.
Then i thought i could disable the app of the AT&T software update, and then i fell deeper into the rabbit hole of how OSPolice got in trouble and how there is 2 versions of package disabler pro.
So here i am, stuck with 5.1.1 and i have no idea what to do.
No, i am not going to root it. This is an AT&T phone, with a bootlocker on it. If anyone, *ANYONE*, can help me solve this small issue that would be much appreciated.
