Hello there, I have a problem.
I have Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Takju, build JZO54K, version 4.1.2
I'm in Slovakia, O2 provider (don't know if that helps)
Today(November 19) I've got notification that I can update to 4.2 (same thing happened four days ago(November 15)), so I started updating.
I saw the icon of Android guy, with some blue wires or something. Than the icon changed, the Android guy was lying and there was red triangle with exclamation mark in it.
Did it happen to anyone else? Is there some problem with my phone or should I just wait and the update will eventually arrive?
Sorry for my english, and thank you for your help
problem updating to 4.2
Are you rooted?

No. I would like to be updated automatically, I don't want to make it manually if I don't have to. Because I would screw it up.
4.2 Update issue
It could be that the phone isnt accepting the phone over the OTA (OVER THE AIR) ive seen this issue before on android phone usually if it wont take it OTA the only other way flash it manually . you dont necessary have to root phone you can always look for the OTA UNROOTED Image which you can flash through fastboot

Edit:
But, can it be this problem even thou I previously did have OTA update to 4.1.2 and there was no problem at all?
4.2 update issue

Try this.....boot the phone and go to settings >>>apps>>>all>>>>Google frameworks service>>>>>clear the cache AND THEN the data in that order....when you go back to check on the update it'll say last checked 12/31/69 you want to see that and then search for the update....that clears framework and helps pull the update to your device....I've used this method and it worked for me with ICS after 3-4 tries give it a go and let us know what happens

I did that and the same thing happened again. The problem is not in that I don't see the updated, problem is that it won't install. Updating starts and about halfway through the red triangle appears and I'm screwed.

That's what I'm thinking reading the other responses. I'll try removing root after work when I can get to my tablet again (it's flush mounted in the dash of my car) and see if that fixes it.

Ops! I really need to sleep
I had root when i got mine. I got the 17 meg. Then i went in and did a check for updates it gave me the big ics update and that failed at almost 100% saying the WiFi signal was too week even though i was about 2 feet away from the router it may be the update is corrupted. try flashing the newest hc update it may fix your issue.
I think I found a solution: I just installed the stock ROM from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611696
Ho to:
1. Download the file in the firs post
2. Rename it update.zip and put it in the root of the external SD (you need a MicroSD)
3. Reboot into recovery: turn off, press volume up and keep it pressed, turn on, wait for update to complete
Hope this help ;-)
I have a notification from T-Mobile update service. It says New software is available. I'm rooted and running a custom rom. Should I start the update or will it not get along with my phone?

DO NOT accept the update!! Running a custom rom will brick your phone. You have a couple of options. Flash back to stock and then you can accept the update. BUt since your rooted use titanium backup, and freeze device manager and then reboot and the update notice will go away.
I couldn't wait so I accepted and my phone booted into clockwork recovery. Then nothing happened so I rebooted. Then the update message was gone. What do you think it was?
You dodged a bullet bro. It was the update to UVLDE. Its an update T-Mobile is sending out to prep your phone for the ICS update next week.
Oh, I thought maybe I was special and I was getting ics early. Anyways thanks for your help. If I bricked this phone my wife would kill me because she wants it when I get a different one later in the month.

Not enough detail. What options did you choose for the device in the toolkit? Did you choose the correct one?
Rooting doesn't modify your ROM settings, so flashing another ROM probably will not make a difference.

Did unlocking the bootloader erase your phone to factory settings? If so, you had to setup your wifi from beginning, i.e. enter wifi password?
Is the wifi antenna turning on?

Thank you for your fast reply. Yes i erased everything through the beginning process. I skipped the wifi setup to enable usb debugging I believe. And the wifi attenna is not turnning on. I did leave the usb cable plugged in throughout the process of the Toolkit...not sure if that makes a difference...bc it says to take it out at some point.
Edit: the Wifi is on when I click on it...but when i try to connect to a network...it either doesnt do anything and stays there or keeps on saying connecting until it says disconnected

If you're having problems with 4.1, why don't you try downgrading? Download something like AOKP milestone based on 4.0.1 and see if the issue disappears. Don't forget to do a full wipe (dalvik as well) in CWM.
well i do feel like having trouble with wifi after updated to 4.1.1 ... it loses signals completely where other devices say "fair signal" .. thats kinda bad about JB update .. i think it must've got to do something with the baseband version .. my original 4.0.4 had something else and now in JB its different ..
i remember about my previous HTC .. when it comes to bad performance of signals, wifi .. etc .... the Radio must be re flashed. ..
if anybody knows anything .. please guide us ...
oops .. i found another forum for radio problems .. lets see if i can find my solution here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1405345 ..

tl;dr I have a blue LED showing up in the top left of the phone and nothing showing up on the screen after the SAMSUNG logo appears. I do hear the Sprint 4G LTE music, but that's it. The screen is off.
NOTE: I'm running Sprint's stock 4.1.1 ROM rooted.

I had my first OTA update appear today. When I ran the update, Clockwork showed up and upon hitting "Yes", it failed. I looked around online and found this guide to reverse my rooting: http://www.epiccm.org/2012/06/sprint-sgs3-stock-restore.html
I was able to successfully flash TeamEpic-RemoveRoot-from-Recovery-signed.zip, but I didn't hit the keys right for the next one and ended up booting into the OS.
After restarting the phone, I hit the right keys and started ODIN. I saw COM show up in blue and put the TeamEpic-Sprint-SGS3-stock-boot-and-recovery.tar.md5 file in the PDA area then hit Start. I got a green PASS and then closed Odin and waited.
The phone had a black screen with that blue LED in the top left. I waited a while and then just powered it off. Took out the battery and tried again, same thing; although, the SAMSUNG logo does show up. It turns off when the Sprint part is supposed to show and at that moment I can hear the audio but the screen turns off. In this mode, the phone gets very very hot.
I can still boot into the stock recovery, but I can't do much else.
I just wanted the OTA . Does anyone know what might be happening?
EDIT: I put Clockwork Recovery back on, and then Advanced Recovered the boot part of a backup I did before this mess. Surprisingly, that worked. Problem is, I still haven't gotten the OTA working.
Ideas?

Why are you so intent on taking the OTA? Freeza has a stock rooted ROM over in his thread. And if you want just update the baseband, just flash the "MB1 Firmware/modem/baseband update" file in the aforementioned thread.
If you're already rooted with a custom recovery (which you were/are), there's no reason to unroot just to flash the OTA. Freeza typically has his stock rooted ROM updated with the OTA within a week of it being released. In my area OTAs are kind of late, so he typically gets it out before I even see the notification.
So, in summary. OTAs are not required, XDA (and Freeza in particular) has you covered.

I'll go ahead and give it a try then. I haven't ever had a ROM update since I got the phone in October so I figure the upgrade won't work right, and I'll need the full ROM. Currently doing a backup.
Does flashing a ROM affect all app settings? And if so, by that point I'd just wanna have another ROM. The main reason I am fine w/ the stock ROM rooted is bc all my settings and apps are already installed and configured as well as the fact that I know it will work properly. So if this removes my settings, no reason to go stock anymore aside from the fact that I've seen that CyanogenMod doesn't get as good of signal on the S III as stock-based ROMs. Do you know if this still true?

A dirty flash is when you flash without clearing anything, and that's why no data is lost when you do one of those. However it can lead to issues, so i would advise against it when possible

Definitely looks like 5.1.1 possibility!
I'm still on 4.4.4, this update is a hard decision because there is no downgrade...
But update your post an confirm it 5.1.1 after? Also would b nice to know the build number

Will samsung galaxy grand prime sm-g530h get lollipo 5.1.1?
Sent from my SM-G530H using XDA Free mobile app
will do....im using an att wifi location so the download is taking forever
I'm updating as well, I'm guessing its 5.1.1. T-mobile, however, announced they are already testing 6.0 for their devices including note 4
Failed the update.....going to advance the date on the phone and try the update again.

Quick question: does the 5.1.1 update include the theme store for the Note 4?

Sigh
Oh well, I guess I should simply be happy we're finally getting the 5.1.1 update. Really wish it included the theme store though (especially since we can't root)...
Thanks for the quick reply omair :good:
Does I need to be on the US and use an ATT simcard to update? I've recently bought an att note4 and it's on transit to my country.
No firmware?
After the update my device still says update available, however, it says 5.1.1 under device info. When I press continue update, it flashes "no firmware" and the icon at the top of the notification bar shows the arrows in opposite directions as if its trying to update, but nothing is happening. Any ideas as to why this occurs? Im using att straight talk and never had any issues with updates prior. Thanks in advance.
update try #3 failed as well......oh well i will be nuking the phone and trying it again.
Just finished the 5.1.1 update - no issues & phone's responsiveness is great now.
For once, add me to the list of people whose update went off without a hitch & promised enhancements actually are there.
There was a bit of sluggishness after the first reboot after install, but I'm thinking that was due to some kind of initial indexing going on in the background.
Aside from that, all apps, including Android Pay are working as before and no lag in the Recent Apps button. Text scrolling is noticibly smoother, especially when scrolling, for example, the list of installed apps in App Manager.

Mine failed too at 1%, on reboot it said the update was interrupted. Same thing happened in the initial update to Lollipop. Going to go out on a limb and guess this is related to my phone being encrypted. Wiping the phone was the only way I could get that update to take. (The little interim ones did work for me). Sure makes me wise I could backup my phone with Titanium Backup like I used to.
