Unzip that and you will get all the different image files (system, radio, boot and data). You need to then use unyaffs on the system image, this will then give you all the system files.
Then look at how a update.zip file is structured eg MCR, Hikari, Lox and job done.
Also can someone please upload to somewhere other than Rapidshare, as it isnt so rapid and surprise surprise has run out of download slots!
Thanks
Dan
Thank youuu!! I'm preparing the update.zip
and I am uploading the RUU to mediafire!

Please find HEROIMG.zip (http://rapidshare.de/files/48864271/HEROIMG.zip.html).
It contains only boot.img, system.img and userdata.img. It will be enough to prepare the update.zip.

thanks mate, downloading right now. mind telling me how you did it, just for my couriosity?
here you go: update-hero-generic-2.73.405.66-release-signed.zip
md5: 8f07a2f2960c5f25b8083dcd242cabf4
i think you should know this:
i do not really know what i am doing! i just pasted this together for what i know of it, wiped my phone and installed it. so far it seems to work fine. it is not rooted and no adb available. i am not responsible for what happens with your phone if you install this on it or anything else (like your mother )! i was abe to restore my nand+ext backup and everything was back to normal. now we need one of the fellow romcookers to make something out of this.
the battery widget installs and works fine on this rom btw.

are you asking me for permission? because i didn't make this rom, feel free to use it. if you want to contribute you could explain how to root it, i am strongly interested in the process. or is it as simply as adding a "su" binary and superuser.apk and set the file permissions?
edit: i just made a diff of the stock and rooted versions of the .38 rom, apperantly it is that easy...
I have developed a little app to be able to change the language to my KF. This is just a reimplementation of the original locale picker from android (missed in the KF), so no root is needed.
Great Job!
If somebody now just can provide a solution to reinstall the market without root, it would be great. And i can live without root for the moment....
So some one have a hint for me?
Owwww!! Great Job!! Thank you very much!!

You can install stuff with "adb install apk name" command. Just get the apps somewhere here and then you can make it.
WOW! Thanks! Now I have my Kindle Fire in Romanian! )
Although, the translation is not adapted to KF and instead of tablet it uses such terms as Android Keyboard / Tastatură Android, or Shutdown Phone/Închidere telefon, it is excellent, as all applications that have localization are now in the selected language!

This Swype is that comes with stock ROMS, This has been extracted from VillainROM 3 for SGS2, this flashable ZIP have the necesary files that Swype can work with any ROM, this also modify four props from build.prop file.
Flash this at your own responsability, and if you do it please report back.
If you have problems to boot after flash, you can restore your original build.prop with adb, if you don't know what is this, maybe you have to reconsider to flash it
NOTE: Disable signature verification before flash.

You need to delete Swype.apk from /system/app folder and move /system/build.prop.swype file to /system/build.prop
You can do it with ADB or Root Explorer.

I have made some little changes, now works fine with CM9, you only have to download v0.2 and flash it again.
Thanks! Just installed this on XXLP2 and where version 0.1 didn't work, version 0.2 works perfectly
works with miui 2.1.13 - but i cant set it as the default keyboard. it always switches to the standard keyboard after restart. do you have any idea to fix it? i think it was the v1 but im not sure.
thank you.
Why should anyone install a very old version off Swype when you can get the newest for free and on every ROM from swype.com????

This version is better for some languages other than English.
For example, the new version of Swype includes all letters from the Turkish alphabet (an additional 6 letters cramped on a small screen!), whereas this version simply uses the English QWERTY layout and predicts what I'm typing in Turkish. Therefore, this version is a lot more error-free and efficient when I'm typing in Turkish.

Hi
First of all, really nice job! Just like you and other guys around I do fancy the older version of swype.
I was wondering, though, if this stock swype was able to be ported only because of the original files extracted from VR3. Could it be possible to get, for instance, the swype version found in ICS XWLP2 to work with CM9 as well? Could you point out something like the procedure you followed for doing so? (or do it for us )
Thanks in advance
Good joob, its works on my d4rom cm9. Can you add please romanian language?
does this have pt-pt language?
I was following the instructions on this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100963 (which I can't post in because I'm under the required amount of posts..) Anyways, the download links are dead. I did some searching and found that http://goo.im/devs/Hashcode/otter2 has the downloads for the recovery and bootloader, but not the stack override. Does anyone know where I can find this? I just received my fastboot cable and I'm pretty eager to experiment with another of my Android devices.
I think the stack override is the same on all devices but seeing as that file was in the otter2 section I wouldn't try another without making sure. I think he put the stack override up on crackflasher for the other devices as a mirror I wonder if he forgot to for the kf2?

I finally found the Otter2 (Kindle Fire 2nd Gen.) stack file via a link that became active again from another post.
The stack file's MD5 hash appears to be 3CEE2B7F3233FC3A1E10373677B8C1A9 if it helps anyone in the future.
Thanks!

Sure, sk1tch. Credit goes to @parker.stephens. I found he shared a link in his post here on page 54 of this thread to his MediaFire share which has the Otter2 files.
Additionally, I've also since read that Hashcode's same stack file is used for the KF 2nd Gen / KF HD 7" (2012) / KF HD 8.9" devices.
Hope this helps!

Hi. Tell me, please, how right pack bzImage with ramdisk into boot.img. I without problem compiling bzImage from Asus source code, than unpack stock boot.img with utility "zenfone 2 boot repack " by sorg, delete stock zImage from "boot" folder, put custom bzImage in "boot" folder, rename it to "zImage" and packwith utility "zenfone 2 boot repack " into boot.img, then flash this boot.img into phone with command fastboot flash boot boot.img, but device not start, white screen with logo Asus- and all. What I doing wrong?

The command line parameters screw up the information about the image data, as the boot command line parameters use double quotes ( " ).
So open img_info and delete the part in the command line parameters with the " signs. Also you need to enter the second addr and size params:
kernel : $kernel
ramdisk : $ramdisk
page_size : $page_size
base_addr : $base_addr
kernel size : $kernel_size
kernel_addr : $kernel_addr
ramdisk_size : $ramdisk_size
ramdisk_addr : $ramdisk_addr
below entries should be missing (or at least one of the two):
second_size : $second_size
second_addr : $second_addr
You need to enter that info into img_info file. If I have the time I will upload the img_info how itshould look like
Sorry, I don't understand a little, need make so?

Nope, take the img_info in the attachment and replace yours with mine
With Your img_info my boot.img also don't working , zf2 didn't start, but i try singed modules off in menuconfig. Need disable all modules, right? in menuconfig all points "M" switch to "*" ?
Signed modules check only if the modules are fitting to the kernel by their signature.
Which kernel src version did you download?
I'm using source 2.19.40, AOSP 5.0.0_r7, KenelMakeFile from Asus, build kernel by command make -j4 -f KernelMakeFile TARGET_DEVICE=fhd modules_install

You need to issue 2 commands:
make -j4 -f KernelMakeFile TARGET_DEVICE=fhd build_kernel
make -j4 -f KernelMakeFile TARGET_DEVICE=fhd modules_install
Also make sure you first unpack source 2.12.40 and then copy 2.19.40 over it, then it should work
Yes, I know, what in source 2.19.40 lost IPU module. I'm unpacked 2.12.40 in working directory and unpacked 2.19.40 over with replacements. bzImage compiling without errors, in command prompt write "bzImage ready 6776Kb"
I'm install your kernel - device can't see MicroSD . I think this, because your ramdisk for firmware 2.19.40.18 or 20, and I have 2.19.40.22, I'm right?

You have SDcard with exFat format? Custom kenlel not support exFAT, in source code of ASUS no exFAT drivers... While only use FAT32. I'm wrote to Asus support yesterday, that add exFAT in source
Fat32 sd cards work just fine on my custom kernel. Will see to add exfat support natively by the kernel config though (maybe it's turned off, but then ASUS did this by default already)
@TheSSJ do you have any idea of what is ospm_wake_lock is? is it related to screen on because the kernel wake lock only running on when the screen is on.
