[APP] Stock Swype | All ROMs | tested with CM7, CM9 and MIUI - Galaxy S II Themes and Apps

This Swype is that comes with stock ROMS, This has been extracted from VillainROM 3 for SGS2, this flashable ZIP have the necesary files that Swype can work with any ROM, this also modify four props from build.prop file.
Flash this at your own responsability, and if you do it please report back.
If you have problems to boot after flash, you can restore your original build.prop with adb, if you don't know what is this, maybe you have to reconsider to flash it
NOTE: Disable signature verification before flash.
CHANGES: V0.2 Fixed to work with CM9, tested by my self.

You need to delete Swype.apk from /system/app folder and move /system/build.prop.swype file to /system/build.prop
You can do it with ADB or Root Explorer.

I have made some little changes, now works fine with CM9, you only have to download v0.2 and flash it again.

Thanks! Just installed this on XXLP2 and where version 0.1 didn't work, version 0.2 works perfectly

works with miui 2.1.13 - but i cant set it as the default keyboard. it always switches to the standard keyboard after restart. do you have any idea to fix it? i think it was the v1 but im not sure.
thank you.

Why should anyone install a very old version off Swype when you can get the newest for free and on every ROM from swype.com????

This version is better for some languages other than English.
For example, the new version of Swype includes all letters from the Turkish alphabet (an additional 6 letters cramped on a small screen!), whereas this version simply uses the English QWERTY layout and predicts what I'm typing in Turkish. Therefore, this version is a lot more error-free and efficient when I'm typing in Turkish.

Hi
First of all, really nice job! Just like you and other guys around I do fancy the older version of swype.
I was wondering, though, if this stock swype was able to be ported only because of the original files extracted from VR3. Could it be possible to get, for instance, the swype version found in ICS XWLP2 to work with CM9 as well? Could you point out something like the procedure you followed for doing so? (or do it for us )
Thanks in advance

Good joob, its works on my d4rom cm9. Can you add please romanian language?

does this have pt-pt language?

I'm using swiftkey right now, not so fast, but it's a very good alternative. Or you can try Swype Beta (pt-PT), juste use the remove-swype*.zip from the link on my last post (on recovery), then download the beta.
I got a working pt-br swype from a brazilian defy branded by Claro.
If you still need it, I can make an update.zip and upload it to my server.
Check a small video of my Defy running JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_155-002_DEBLUR with PT-BR Swype.

[12.September.2011][MOD]|Full Arabic Support for Gingerbread 2.3.3 (Overcome)

This mod will install full Arabic support on Galaxy Tabs running Overcome 3.1.0 [Kratos] (may work on earlier editions but no guarantees- try at your own risk!)
This is a CWM flashable zip and it includes a script to wipe dalvik cache after installation so all you need to do is install in CWM and reboot
We now have proper Arabic support with reading and the stock Gingerbread Arabic keyboard is also included for input support
After installing, make sure the input method is set to Samsung Keypad (default) and press the Settings key to the left of the Go key. In the next screen, tab Input Language and select Arabic then press the back key twice. You will now have an Arabic keyboard
Note: This has been tested on Overcome 3.0.0 [Kratos] but may work on others.
Please report if you get it working on other ROMs and I will add a note
Download: 004002-Overcome_v3.1.0_KRATOS_Full_Arabic_Patch.zip

Well yes. This patch does change the framework. If you want stock Gingerbread then the path I would recommend is to flash the stock theme patch, reboot at least once and then flash the arabic patch. You can get both patches from teamovercome.net in the Downloads section. I tried that combination yesterday and it works fine

To be honest it's just a matter of finding of finding, extracting, deodexing and zipaligning the keyboard from a compatible stock ROM that has the language you need. Once you are sure the files work, you can package them in a flashable zip to make it easy to apply. This will also patch the framework and other system files and that's why I stress the need for compatibility.

[FIX] Swype (JVP/JVQ/JVR) on Cyanogenmod

Hi there.
In order to get Swype working on CyanogenMod you have to edit /system/build.prop file and make the following changes:
Code:
# WORKING with swype !!!
ro.product.name=GT-I9000
ro.product.device=GT-I9000
ro.product.board=GT-I9000
For the reference, in the current release of CyanogenMod7 for galaxys those values are
Code:
# NOT working with swype !!!
ro.product.name=soju
ro.product.device=galaxysmtd
ro.product.board=aries
Obvious, you need to get original Swype files from an original Samsung ROM and install both Swype.apk and libSwypeCore.so
The changes above works for sure with Swype JVP (tested).
P.S.
CyanogenMod maintainers could consider adjusting the build.prop of the future CyanogenMod builds to keep swype compatible.
Otherwise my changes will remain just a quick hack.
very good
what about sam keyboard!!
Will Swype have a haptical feedback?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk

Beta3 is working out of the box, just install it via installer. You need an beta-account of course!
What the heck is beta 3? I'm talking about original swype, the one you can find on every samsung phone, licensed only for this phone.
Don't know about this beta 3, but previous betas from swype lacked support for some languages. Those languages support was found only in some versions of Samsung ROMs (localized).
Will it work on MIUI roms?
How to install libSwypeCore.so and Swype.apk ?
Thanx
@loylik: It should work if your build.prop is consistent with the samsung roms. Take a look at a swype cwm package and you will see where it gets installed in the /system folder.

in past I tried to install several sg3 ported apps, beginning with svoice before someone modded to avoid editing build.prop. so i would try installing with root explorer in system with right permissions .. then edit build.prop to sg9300 .. make sure you save backups as .bak just in case.

Try without modifying build.prop. If you have to modify, when using root explorer, it'll create a .bak of the original just in case. Unfortunately, I can't tested after I themed my rom.

just saw in modacos jb rom in kitchen you can choose cm9´s t9 dialer.. so in other words its already ported for JB. Maby someone can fix a flashable zip with it?
I could get it to work now, I get the Contacts.apk from http://rootzwiki.com/topic/29148-ro...ulti-reboot-power-menu-cm9-t9-dialer-updated/
You have only extract the Contacts.apk from the Modaco build 1.2. I could make a flashable zip but the app is not my work.
this is t9 dialer based on stock dialer

Edit: added script to delete Contacts.odex from /system/app/ so it should works on both odexed/deodexed rom.
Iam on JellyBelly and sadly it doesnt work.

Are you on odex ROM or deodexed ROM? if you're on the odex ROM, there's /system/app/Contacts.odex needed to be deleted. If it doesn't work for you, I don't have any idea too since I got that app from other rom. By the way, I only tested it in my device and my sister device, both running deodexed rom by bigxie.

1. The file I got is from Modaco CDMA/LTE rom. I use in on my GSM network and it works for me, so I assume it works for both CDMA/GSM.
2. You have to flash the zip through CWM recovery, but can also use adb to push the file to your /system/app
Iam on JellyBelly. So deodexed. Cant understand why it doesnt work there. No big difference to Stock.
Gesendet von meinem A500
you could try:
redownload the CWM-flashable ZIP
renaming the contacts.apk in your /system/app with ESFileExplorer (root needed)
instant reboot to recovery
flash the ZIP file again
reboot and check with ES-File if the new contacts.apk was correctly applied
Now I'm update to android 4.1.1 deodexed rom by Bigxie, and it still works for me. Strange for you though.

The modded app is released before the source code of 4.1 out, and I think it's CM9 app... and to be precised, it is 4.0.4-eng.paul.20120703.185012. You will have to wait for someone do the mod for 4.1 if you want the latest app.
I downloaded and tried to flash but gives me a status 7 code because the zip is designed for gsm phones.
I don't have time to edit the package tonight. Could someone just upload the contact.apk? I can just use root explorer to move it.
Update
I extracted the apk from the archive and moved it to apps. Set the proper permissions and reset but still no go. Doesn't even display or install. Restored my original and back to the drawing board.
