Did you enable apps2sd? If you did it right it should've put all the apps you had installed on the sd.

pretty much.. just open terminal emulator app, type su and press enter, allow superuser permissions, then type a2sd cachesd and press enter, wait for the whole thing to finish and then reboot.. it should take a while depending on how many apps you have so dont freak out if it takes longer than usual... when it loads up you should have your data space back. then what i like to do is run fix permissions from rom manager as well, it helps avoiding force closes and such. good luck

Don't forget he needs to download and flash the a2sd activator from clockwork. The zip file is in a thread (in the dev section for our phone), just DL it and follow the instructions in the post.

In order to use apps2ext you have to flash the activator zip. If you're using CM 6.1 you don't need a custom boot.img so don't worry about that.
1. Partition you sdcard with an ext2 or ext ext3 partition
2. DL the activator zip and flash it in clockwork
3. Boot
4. Use the terminal emulator and type the commands *see bottom
5. It will reboot (may take a while)
6. Done
Code:
su [enter]
cd /system/bin/ [enter]
sh a2sd cachesd [enter]

Did you move your apps to the sdcard? You might check them to make sure they're not still installed to the phone.
Also, 100MB sounds about right. That's what I have and I delete useless stuff (useless to me) so my ROM is smaller.

I thought if I formatted my sdcard to 500mb, i would have 500mb instead of 100..
no?
Please help me.
I can't partition my sd card. I'm using CM 6.1. I have tried several methods, both ROM Manager and AppsToSd apps don't do nothing when trying to perform the partitioning, after requested reboot everything's the same. Adb didn't work either, says not found. I even wiped and reflashed the Rom. What could be wrong? I know it's not the same issue but related, so not to create a separate thread.

The issue in this thread has been solved.
You should copy that message and create a new thread. What you are doing right now is "Thread Hijacking" (taking over someone elses thread that might still need help)
anyhow.. post a new thread, i might reply with some info

Well you do have 500MB but it won't show up anywhere. The ext partition can't be read by windows and your phone won't list it under the storage menu. I'm sure there's an app (Titanium backup) that will list your ext and show you used/free memory if you want to check to make sure it's there. Also you can type:
Code:
su
cd /system/bin/
a2sd sysinfo
or
a2sd diskspace (I think)
That will show you your ext size.

the 100 is the space left on THE PHONE not the sdcard, since the ext is mounted but not exactly as it should then that space (the 500mb) is not showned there, just the space you have left in you /data partition (in the phone).
Looking at the space left it looks like you did it right and your apps are going to your ext partition so dont worry about it anymore
Just download ANDROID TERMINAL
EMULATOR from Market and install it(you
must be ROOTED to use it) .
Now just TYPE in Terminal:
Code:
su
a2sd cachesdreset
Now your phone restarts and you get A LOT
of internal memory(I have like 17 apps
installed and I have 124mb of FREE
INTERNAL MEMORY)!

I have tried this method and I get this message: a2sd not found.
I have fat32 and ext2 partions on my SD card.

maybe your rom doesn't have a2sd support.
I get:
EXT partition not mounted.
Cannot move dalvik cache to SD card
Setting file system ready property to 1.
You can use this command only if you have link2sd installed and with an ext mounted. or Rom with a2sd support like my WS rom.
I just searched this and found this to share. cause I noticed my internal memory was 40mb used and ext memory is like 43 not far, and had 99MB left in internal memory, now I typed this in Terminal Emulator and it became 124 mb after restart.
PS: All my apps linked to sd card w/ link2sd
ok, I'm using original HTC Three ROM with Root.
Link2SD is a godsend- NOTE running all Apps off of SD card takes SUBSTANTIALLY more space than linking them to SD using Link2SD and a partition!
However, the a2sd command isn't found as Aef101 stated.
I wonder do we need to swap directories/load a different app to do it if not part of the ROM and not part of Link2SD (unless I've the "wrong one"). Mine is listed as 1.9.1 by Buelnt Akpinar.
this is only for custom rom with darktremor apps2sd.
is there a noticeable loss of speed due to moving the caches off of the flash memory? seems like there might be some instability.
of course that hasn't kept me from doing it! I'll let you know if it craps out or anything. Thanks for the info. check my sig for ROM setup
I'm trying this ROM :
RUU_Marvel_Vodafone_FR_LPM_1.64.192.1_Radio_47.10c.35.3030_7.47.36.19M_release_203694_signed.exe
http://www.filefactory.com/file/cdb...35.3030_7.47.36.19M_release_203694_signed.exe
Everything's good (phoning, rooting, modding, no visual bugs and full french language) except with Jikantaru's tip.
With Terminal Emulator when I enter "a2sd cachesdreset", it says "a2sd: not found"
I don't understand because I installed link2sd and it works fine.
Is there someone who can explain to me.
Do you have a2sd installed? Link2sd may delete a2sd so it doesn't compete. trash them both and go with Data2whatever seems much better.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S using xda premium
Thanks for your explanations. Now, I know why it was not found.
I'd just install a rom with apps2Sd already built in.
A friend of mine bought Wildfire S. His memory stats are 120MB used 30MB free.
I thought 418MB was available to the user. Is this true or not.
Is there any way to increase the internal memory of the phone... apart from links2SD or App2SD
418 MB is total memory with system and default apps. after them 150 mb left for user application.
There is no way to increase internal memory without Link2SD or APP2SD
noob questions. I have 'S-off' my virgin mobile WFS, does it mean it is rooted? When I try to input the 'SU' using the Terminal Emulator, it said permission denied? Thoughts?

Thanks! I have followed the tutorial for rooting and rooted my virgin mobile WFS. I also downloaded Link2SD, A2SDGUI, busy box from the market. When I run the Terminal Emulator, and input "SU a2sd cachesdreset" it said a2sd permission denied. I have the stock rom, and reading some of the post, does it need a custom rom for this to work?

Make sure the "su" command isn't in capital letters.
Alright i tried this command, and it works.
Freed some 90-100 Mb's for me.
Just some things:
1. It takes a hell lot of time for first two or three boots.
2. Whenever you install a new app, it force closes until you restart your phone.
3. Some speed decrease.
Well anyone else having same ****??
Hello Xda'ers,
Recently I installed the MIUI 1.10.8 ROM.
I noticed that A2SD said 0.00 so I partitioned it.
Now it says 458MB at the A2SD section.
But what to do now?
Can't move a lot of apps to SD.
With kindest regards,
Mendel
youve kind of answered your own question, just move the apps that you CAN move to the sd
but if youre really looking for lots of space try data2sd
Hey Elliot,
First of all thanks for the quick response.
Do you mean move to SD like to old way? (Select app -> move to SD)
Because it doesn't say there is more space then normal (On the bottom there is a bar of internal memory). When I move apps to SD it's no different then else (like on stock rom).
if you are looking to make your internal memory increase, then you need data2sd
i would recommend the supernova rom for that
data2sd will basically use an extpartition on your sd card as internal memory
p.s. you can always use the thanks button to say thanks
I figured it out.
I had to activate it in the terminal.
Now i can have infinite apps
Can't find the thanks button, im a noob. where is it?
How to activate A2SD+ in MIUI 1-12.23 via terminal?
Hi XDA,
Its my 1st post on the forum.
My Phone: HTC Desire GSM on Orange.
Rooted. S-Off. MIUI 1-12.23.
Kerell: 2.6.3.7.6-cyangenmod-g8913be3
Baseband: 32.48.00.32U_5.10.05.30
I have recently installed MIUI ROM version 1-12. to 23. I have a 16GB SD partitioned ext3 using Revolutionary recovery. (I used Revolutionary to gain S-OFF)
The Partition went smooth, I created 1.5gb ext3 and 64mb swap.
When booted into MIUI it registers as A2SD+ 1.5GB. Success.
I install my apps and run out of internal space at which poitnt I expect my apps to auto install on the ext partition that I had created. This doesn't happen, why?
Ive searched the XDA forums for the answers but have yet to find a solution.
Do I have to activate A2SD via terminal? if so how? What cmds should I enter?
Id be grateful for a guide to activate A2SD on my device.
Thaks guys!
mcshooter
To activate the built in a2sd:
open terminal and run these commands:
su
a2sd install
To move dalvik cache do:
a2sd cachesd
Hope this helps mate

Bump.
I'm not sure if a2sd is enabled by default in Mildwild. You can try to install something like Quick System Info app which shows you A2SD storage if exists. If you won't see A2SD storage here, it's most probably inactive. Then download Terminal Emulator and follow those steps:
1) run Terminal Emulator
2) type 'su' a press enter
3) allow root access in the popup query
4) type 'a2sd install' and press enter
5) reply to questions in this order - y n y (dalvik to card - yes, data to card - no, reboot - yes)
6) you're done

Edit2:the a2sd works pefect with the old miui so it is a rom problem we should notify to the developer of mildwild

your A2SD appears to be working to an extent, but only used 32MB. you should use a better app like 'diskusage' to browse all your partitions, and check the apks are stored on the sd-ext
your internal storage only reads 148MB total because you are still on stock hboot (probably also still s-on?) this means you currently have 250MB system size, but your rom system size is only ~140MB and you're wasting 110MB.
you should be s-off with cm7r2 hboot to maximise space (145MB system, wastes only ~5MB, bigger 287MB internal memory)
depending on the A2SD script, your internal memory still won't appear as "internal + ext partition" or "148MB + 512MB" in your case. your internal should be used for app data and dalvik cache if it fits, and app apk's in sd-ext. you shouldnt have to manually 'move to sd' either.
recommend further reading here.
512MB partition is also quite small, i'd recommend at least 1GB, no more than 1.5GB. partition should be made with gparted or 4ext recovery only.

the rom should have a built in method of A2SD, you may need to activate it, search the thread. others use different scripts like int2ext.
the same applies though, you should be s-off with cm7r2 hboot to maximise space. check everything using 'diskusage'

there is no really need to change worlds now as i said on a old rom of miui the a2sd works fine and it does need to be activated with th terminal
in mildwild 5 it did work too but i cant download it anymore so i cant check...if i am going to the terminal in mildwild rom and do this:
$su
#a2sd check
a2sd not found
#a2sd install
a2sd not found
#exit
$exit
this is from my memory i am not sure if the output is accurate but still...
any way if i was in s on and no ext4 recovery for almost 3 years with this phone and alot of diffrent roms that used a2sd and it worked perfectly fine like the old version of miui i am using right now so i dont feel a need to change it but...i might listen to you anyway because i have a spare time XD
so can you give me a link to a guide of ext4 recovery and s off (i did look for an old guide i saw here but i cant seem to find it i am not that lazy!) i will stay with stock hboot for now...(i do use simple roms i am not going to move from GB for now because they are the most stable roms and a2sd method is good enough for my needs(i might not be so involved in pros or cons of other methods but this one is the simplest isnt it?))
(sorry for my bad english thank you for your reply)

I haven't really had time to look into until now. I was s-off, but with stock hboot. Flashed cm7r2 and I now have ~280mb free! So that's step one. I'll continue searching for a solution to the sd2ext or a2sd or whatever it is, though. It should be built-in. Going to play around with it a bit, and see if there's something I can do. If not, I'll ask another question!
Thanks for helping out! It can get a little confusing, all this.

Go to Settings->System->Storage
At the "apps" you can see the occupied space used by the apps. This amount is higher than your internal storage ofcourse.
Not all part of your apps goes to /ext4 partition. Some libraries/data goes to your /data/ which is in your internal memory. That's why the internal memory still reduces with a2sd. If you say y,y,y for a2sd the /data would be put on /ext4 as well, but you will notice performance issues and lags.
Partly right

You´re right so far.
Depending on your SD card and on developer settings, you can get this to work.
On my last Rom (VJ CM10 JB) I ran a2sd with YYY and it ran smoothly.
What you need is a fast SD card and the right tweaks. I use a Transcend 32gb Class10 Micro SDHC and the following settinfgs:
- CPU overclock to max 1240Mhz (definitevely not the maximum of possibilities!) with smartassv2 governor
- i/o scheduler to bfq
-16bit transparency checked
- zram enabled
- KSM enabled
that worked great. My new rom does not support Y-Y-Y at the moment.
You can also run "a2sd sysinfo" to see how much space is used on different internal/external partitions.
Other good apps to check available space, etc.:
- Quick System Info
- FreeSpace
- Titanium Backup
