hi guys ..im new to xplay forum and im from http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=695 (dell streak 5) forum..
i need a bit push to go on for customize xplay..so first of all i found that several stock firmwares avilable for xplay http://www.ptcrb.com/vendor/complete/view_complete_request_guest.cfm?modelid=18898
my xplay is with 4.0.2.A.0.42 SW version and there are several firmwares like
4.0.2.A.0.58
4.0.2.A.0.62
4.0.2.A.0.69
(witch are can found in followings)
http://www.xperiagamer.com/Stock-Roms/234-stock-firmware-for-flashtool.html
http://unlock-bootloader.com/downloads/
so my first Q is...
instead of my firmware( 4.0.2.A.0.42 ) is there any known different of flashing other firmwares (4.0.2.A.0.58 ,4.0.2.A.0.62 ,4.0.2.A.0.69) i mean different between porting or something??
my 2nd Q is
if ive unlocked my bootloader is it a matter for software updating over the phone itself? ( hopefully if official ICS released as they have mention here http://www.xperiagamer.com/Blog3/ics-for-play-gets-certified.html
and my last Q is
im willing to flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1649368 rom as far as the kinda good rom other than other GB roms or any one can suggest me a good rom for day to stable with maximum optimized for gaming with bug free?
thanks friends!!

Hello !
I just bought my Xperia Play, I wasn't expecting it but since it's price was very low I bought it.
I'm familiar with XDA because I own a X8 too.
Can someone help me introducing to Xperia Play forum? Like telling me wich roms worth trying, some root, unlocking bootloaders or installing recoveries tutorials. Just so that I have something to start with.
Thanks in advance
DoomKernel is really good ..
And all the Xperia S themed Roms are good too
If you flash DooMKernel you have root as well...
Recommended is a unlocked bootloader

That's nice since I really like Xperia S style
Is there a tutorial to unlock bootloader, I'm probably not going to that now, just something like 15 days from now.
Btw is there xperia s theme, launcher and so on for stock 2.3.2 without root?
Hello everybody
Any one can help me i have a R800a Rooted and with CWM! with LOCKED Bootloader ,but i cant install Custom ROMS like ICS pureness , i install but they dont boot
Any one can help me with this?
I dont understand why dont boot custom roms :S
because you need to have an unlocked bootloader
I agree... I'm a noob myself but I've read enough on xda to realize that most roms will not work with locked bootloader. I have a locked bootloader R800at but I was able to flash a firmware update to 4.0.x from the R800i and then installed clockwork mod and then installed Gin2Jellybean. The reason that a lot of roms won't work btw is because you need a certain Kernel and to flash those you need an unlocked bootloader. It stinks that we need that but there is another way that I think is riskier to unlock your bootloader. It is called a test point connection. Look up Gin2Jellybean on xda as well as test point unlocking if you're interested. But I love the rom Gin2Jellybean and it is compatible with a locked bootloader. Hope this was helpful! Please press the thanks if it was so I know I helped!

Also Gin2Jellybean is very compatible with most anything. Especially if you make sure you set your cpu to the performance setting in rom toolbox. And it fully supports the game pad and Crash Bandicoot as well... You will need to make backups of say crash Bandicoot though before you flash it... It will only install pretty much the bare essentials

Just to clarify this thread from users input...
you need to see in the rom that says tutorial for locked bootloader...
and also read the instructions carefully as locked bootloader is very hard and time consuming which depends on rom...
also if your reflashing before doing install the kernel on that rom thread as that is important or you'll have wifi problems and root issues as such...
To run ics you need an ics kernel, maybe the xperia neo l ics kernel, try flash it via flashtool after you install the ics rom

Hi, I am new to Android and rooting and had a couple questions. I will be getting the Xperia Play R800x soon. If you get the bootloader unlocked from SE, do you still need to root the device? I have been trying to get everything ready for when I get the phone. I have Android SDK and Flashtool installed. If I want to get the NXT Light Edition Rom, do I need a custom kernel as well? Thanks.

If you get your bootloader unlocked and flash a custom kernel/ROM no you dont need to root as nearly all, if not all come with root. Seen as you have flashtool and everything else use a custom kernel. If you want to return to stock then just reflash a ftf file for r800x , make sure you dont flash a ftf for r800i though. I dont have the link handy but there is a thread here with all ftf files. Just search in XdA

Just a heads up.... The NXT light rom is gsm... It won't work on the r800x

Thank you Wedgess and Lordomn. Since the NXT light is for the GSM version, would you recommend the COLA rom, or maybe SlimBean or CM9?

Think CosmicDans MIUI for ICS is for cdma. Id say its probably one of the best performance wise for ICS. You could also check out my PACMan ROM gor JB i uploaded a cdma version which works fine touchpads are also supported, camera/video ect works. Also instead of saying thanks click the thanks button instead

slim bean performs very well also.
Hi, can i install a stock 2.3.4 R800i rom on a R800X, i will just use the Xperia Play as a wifi internet device and a game console, i dont need calling or provider service internet.
Can i install it without messing other stuff?
No you can not install any GB R800i rom on the R800x. Your stuck with what you have.
Check the NXT lite rom for cdma, its pretty much like stock but better.

If you're going to be playing hard games, I suggest you use the cola Rom. Its excellent for gaming.
sure you can!

heres the link for the rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2210559&page=2
you can also find in the android dev section how to unlock your bootloader
ok but is compatible with r800x, games camera etc and how do i downgrade without relocking my bootloader
edit: i also saw the xdark rom and looks good what rom is the best that it will give full xperia 2011 ics experience with completely funcionality
edit2: ok i have Bootloader unlock allowed missing so how i can unlock my bootloader
sorry for my english
That's not compatible with r800x. Its only for gsm. It'll boot but it wont give you service and if you want camera and game pads you cant install on locked bootloader. Also download an ftf and flash with flashtool to downgrade without unlocking. Check out fma965s guides. They are very helpful and explain how to do everything very well

ok i know, i dont care about service, i only want a ics rom with funcionaly at 100%
with camera and touchpads and how i UNLOCK MY BOOTLOADER WITH Bootloader unlock allowed missing
and i ask of how to downgrade without RELOCKING bootloader, no UNLOCKING
edit: ok i dont care if it is an ics or, jb or gb rom I ONLY WANT A FIX FOR CAMERA ON DIXPERIA 2 OR XPERIA NXT ROM OR TA GB ROM WITH A LOCKED BOOTLOADER
edit2k i have unlocked my bootloader so can someone please give a tutorial of how to install the xdark ics rom, i have r800x with 2.3.3
Do not install ANY GSM GB roms they are incompatable to the R800x you will get a black screen instead of a home screen. You can only install ics and jb roms. but that requires a unlocked bootloader. If you dont have your bootloader unlocked your stuck with what you have.

Actually you can install gsm gb roms and flash xdarkmarios patch right afterwards and it'll boot fine but no service ofcourse

yes i flashed several gsm roms with darkmario pathc and all works excpt the video recording in high or youtube high (it works in the other modes)
ok i cant find any fix to video recording or any good roms (due to that all the roms for r800x are themed stock roms and my bootloader is locked) so i will stay in stock rom with my own adds
sorry for my english
