Hello everybody
Any one can help me i have a R800a Rooted and with CWM! with LOCKED Bootloader ,but i cant install Custom ROMS like ICS pureness , i install but they dont boot
Any one can help me with this?
I dont understand why dont boot custom roms :S
because you need to have an unlocked bootloader
I agree... I'm a noob myself but I've read enough on xda to realize that most roms will not work with locked bootloader. I have a locked bootloader R800at but I was able to flash a firmware update to 4.0.x from the R800i and then installed clockwork mod and then installed Gin2Jellybean. The reason that a lot of roms won't work btw is because you need a certain Kernel and to flash those you need an unlocked bootloader. It stinks that we need that but there is another way that I think is riskier to unlock your bootloader. It is called a test point connection. Look up Gin2Jellybean on xda as well as test point unlocking if you're interested. But I love the rom Gin2Jellybean and it is compatible with a locked bootloader. Hope this was helpful! Please press the thanks if it was so I know I helped!

Also Gin2Jellybean is very compatible with most anything. Especially if you make sure you set your cpu to the performance setting in rom toolbox. And it fully supports the game pad and Crash Bandicoot as well... You will need to make backups of say crash Bandicoot though before you flash it... It will only install pretty much the bare essentials

Just to clarify this thread from users input...
you need to see in the rom that says tutorial for locked bootloader...
and also read the instructions carefully as locked bootloader is very hard and time consuming which depends on rom...
also if your reflashing before doing install the kernel on that rom thread as that is important or you'll have wifi problems and root issues as such...
To run ics you need an ics kernel, maybe the xperia neo l ics kernel, try flash it via flashtool after you install the ics rom

Hi All,
I have a rooted ICS Arc (4.1.B.0.431) with a locked bootloader. What is a good, fast kernel for it ? Thanks in advance.
Call me silly, but you the entire benefit of unlocking your bootloader is the ability to flash custom kernels. Therefore...locked bootloader means no custom kernel.
I'm no guru....so please, anyone, correct me if I'm wrong here...

I am unable to update to FW.587 OTA. The update center downloads the update and fails to update upon reboot (get an error here). I suppose my only option due to this is to flash the official .587 kernel. If I need to flash a kernel, why not a 'better' kernel ?
Then U Flash A FTF ,
Because For ME OTA Sucks !
Don't upgrade to .587. Lags too much, I went back to .431.
Kernel-wise, unlock your bootloader then try ArcKnight 3.5.1 or SEGA Kernel V3 Army edition.

Hi, I am new to Android and rooting and had a couple questions. I will be getting the Xperia Play R800x soon. If you get the bootloader unlocked from SE, do you still need to root the device? I have been trying to get everything ready for when I get the phone. I have Android SDK and Flashtool installed. If I want to get the NXT Light Edition Rom, do I need a custom kernel as well? Thanks.

If you get your bootloader unlocked and flash a custom kernel/ROM no you dont need to root as nearly all, if not all come with root. Seen as you have flashtool and everything else use a custom kernel. If you want to return to stock then just reflash a ftf file for r800x , make sure you dont flash a ftf for r800i though. I dont have the link handy but there is a thread here with all ftf files. Just search in XdA

sorry for my english
That's not compatible with r800x. Its only for gsm. It'll boot but it wont give you service and if you want camera and game pads you cant install on locked bootloader. Also download an ftf and flash with flashtool to downgrade without unlocking. Check out fma965s guides. They are very helpful and explain how to do everything very well

edit: ok i dont care if it is an ics or, jb or gb rom I ONLY WANT A FIX FOR CAMERA ON DIXPERIA 2 OR XPERIA NXT ROM OR TA GB ROM WITH A LOCKED BOOTLOADER
edit2k i have unlocked my bootloader so can someone please give a tutorial of how to install the xdark ics rom, i have r800x with 2.3.3
Do not install ANY GSM GB roms they are incompatable to the R800x you will get a black screen instead of a home screen. You can only install ics and jb roms. but that requires a unlocked bootloader. If you dont have your bootloader unlocked your stuck with what you have.

Via Sony's website you can have your bootloader unlocked here http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions
Then you can root ANY firmware by installing a superuser.zip in recovery.

I write it here for you other people (because no pm).
I'm not responsible for bricked or broken devices. This progress will wipe all of your data.
1. Download the .58 Firmware
2. Install Flashtool
3. Click on flash->flashmode->choose the .58 Firmware->let it prepare->plug your phone in like it stand there
If it don't work the first time taste it again.
If flashtool don't flash anymore scroll a bit in flashtool.
If the progress is finished your phone will boot (or you turn it on). Go in the settings->application and tick unknown sources and go in the settings->application->development and tick USB debugging.
ROOT:1.Open flashtool
2.click advanced->root->via ZergRush. I think then will come a Window how to plug the phone in, if there comes no Window just plug your phone in normal. I don't know if you must plug in before or after you click on "root via ZergRush". Just taste it.
Don't update your phone because that probably brakes/bricks your phone.

I've been trying to buy a Sony Xperia Ion (LT28AT) for use on T-Mobile USA where the bootloader is allowed to be unlocked. So far, all the devices I've looked at all say No.
I know I can still root an LT28AT where the bootloader unlock allowed = No, but I can't install custom ROMs and kernels, right?
But from reading threads here it seems some people can still install custom ROMs and kernels where the answer is No. Can anyone please clear this up for me?
Thanks!
With a locked bootloader you can use roms that are stock-based.
With an unlocked bootloader you can use roms that need another kernel, just like miui, cm 10 etc

Does that include CyanogenMod ROMs like CM10, CM11 etc?
Also, with a locked bootloader can anyone tell me if I can install any kernels that will overclock?
THANKS!
CyanogenMod Roms need their own kernel, and to flash this kernel, you need an unlocked bootloader.
You cant flash any custom kernel on a locked bootloader.
You must unlocked bootloader before flash another kernel.

What's inaccurate about it? This is an exception because they managed to get CM10 working with a stock kernel. You can't get any higher versions though because those require an appropriate kernel that isn't stock anymore. There have been a lot of kernel changes between Android 4.1 and 4.2. So on locked bootloader you can install stockbased ROMs (like eXistenZ) and one particular version of CM10. Impossible to flash a custom kernel.
Unlocking the bootloader also has downsides though. Beyond Android 4.0, the Mobile Bravia Engine stops working on an unlocked bootloader. Without that, the colours are a bit more washed out, and the screen already isn't the most vibrant around (the Xperia S screen anyway, but the Xperia Ion screen isn't that different).
