So, I was super excited because last time I tried to Root my Kindle, I ended up having to get it replaced and told myself I would NEVER do this again... well I was wrong.. and I went back and tried to do it again.. and well I am back where I was before...
SO maybe there is something I must be missing...
Let me start out at the beginning.
1. I started my Kindle.... the Kindle Fire Logo popped up and then went to the ICS Boot animation. After that.. nothing happened.. just continually goes through ICS boot animation.
2. SO, I thought.. hmm Maybe I can get ADB to detect it and be able to put it into fastboot or even put it through TWRP... Nope. I opened up KFU and it says that its offline and Unknown. So it can't tell that its there... however! When I went into the Device Manager... it says Amazon with a big Yellow Exclamation mark! So Maybe I have to fix the drivers? I am not sure... I just don't think it makes it far enough to go into fastboot. It knows that it exists... but doesn't go any farther... I also know that when I boot it.. the FFF logo doesn't show up... so maybe thats also a bad thing...
3. I tried running fastboot directly through the CMD line and it didn't work. Stays stuck on "waiting for device" after doing that fastboot idme bootmode 4000 commands...
4. I tried Hard resetting it... I tried letting it sit there for a few minuets.
Any other suggestions?! Thanks!!
I also am using Windows 7 64 bit.
fastboot initializes within the 1st few seconds of each boot.
turn off kindle then run script then turn on kindle.
the script should run

if your getting to the ics boot animation then you are not stuck in fastboot anyway + if your pc says waiting for device then you can not be in fastbootmode otherwise the script would run.
how did you install the ics rom, was it with twrp?
if so can you boot into twrp?
i would say your drivers are screwed and you have installed a bad rom (which rom did you flash)?
I was using ICS Energy Rom. I don't know if it was the latest one..
I get to the ICS animation... What should I do? What script do you mean?
No :/ Not able to access the TWRP. I see no Blue Kindle Fire Logo.. it just does a normal Kindle Fire logo and then to the ICS Boot Animation... Is there any way to do this?
Maybe I didn't "Hard reset" it right? What do I need to do to Hard reset?

Does this Kindle Fire logo have an android on top of it?
If it doesn't and you are unable to access the ROM or ADB in any way, your only choice is to get a factory cable.

So I'm installing TWRP, using kindle fire utility, when I press 5 to instal twrp is says: "The Kindle has been told to reboot in fastboot mode" And then it gets stuck at the Kindle Fire boot screen, then I have to put back into normal boot mode, this has been a problem for about 2 hours now and is getting really annoying.
I am having the same problem. I can't even get into fastboot mode it just hangs...

Yes it is.
Did you do the permenate root option first?
I did the tutorial on here that was step by step for noobs. I don't know if it was a permanent version or not but anytime I open the checker it shows as rooted.
I can access adb no problems and it finds my device but whenever I do fastboot it hangs on waiting for device no matter how many times I try.

I guess I'm just an idiot. Fastboot just gets me stuck at the FFF yellow triangle and stops. Recovery and Normal boot don't start the device all the way, so I can't access it from my computer to add a ROM.zip file to the /SD card.
From what the post says, you need to be in fastboot. KFU doesn't see my device in any of the boot modes either.
What should I try to do to get my Fire back? Will a Factory reset do the trick? Will that Unroot my Kindle? Is that even the right direction?
Please advise.
Thank you.

Nothing??? I booted up my Kindle at work, used the Real Calc app from Google Market (was running GO Launcher EX, Rooted with KFU) let it go into sleep more, picked it up to use it for.... I don't remember, It just had the mini Android Robot on the screen with a Triangle with Orange " ! " inside it. I couldn't get the device to respond, so I hard shutdown (hold down power button until power off). Then it booted up and immediately shut down and restarted and there was the Yellow Triangle splash, the Kindle Fire splash, An Android Robot with a progress bar underneath (which I've never seen before), it filled to ~20%, then The Mini Androit with the orange " ! " like before.
I can boot to reocov, norm, and fastboot, but none work and my Kindle is not longer recognized by my PC.
I really have no clue man.

Your kindle tried to update to the new stock software. Your next step would be to boot into recovery and install the stock that way (you would then have to reroot using kfu) or you could install a custom rom. If yore after the stock look then check out the modaco from in the dev section.

My kindle fire is stuck at FIREFIREFIRE bootloader ( the screen which has a kindle fire logo and an android logo above it)....
My conditions are like this:
Kindle fire - ROOTED
ROM - Kindle Fire Stock Rom
TWRP - Installed
FIREFIREFIRE - Installed
And i could'nt find 'kindle fire' in my windows device manager when i plugged my kindle on my pc...
Help will be appreciated...

Be sure to read the first 3 posts.
not finding ' kindle ' , or 'android device' on my windows 7 device manager...so how shud i get rid of it? has anybody experienced it?
Long press on the Fire power button does nothing - doesn't launch TWRP in recovery mode. Entering commands in a Command window from my laptop isn't getting through to my Fire. And, as I mention above, the Kindle Fire device is not available on my Device Manager
After reading the guide potestasx offered you, do you you understand why your device is stuck at the boot screen?
I think i've been stuck at boot loader due to lack of battery....
I fully charged it after that...
but its still stuck...
Cant find 'kindle' or "Kindle' on my Device manager...
So dont know whether i on Fastboot mode or Normal mode...
I assume that i m on fastboot mode...
i tried installing drivers from 'install_drivers' in 'kindle fire utiltity'...
but none changed...
Known Tricks
If you end up stuck at the yellow triangle, in KF Utility select Boot Normal, wait for it to say <waiting for device> and then press and hold the power button 20 seconds until the fire turns off, then when its off turn it back on. This sometimes happens, I have yet to find a clean solution If you end up stuck with a yellow triangle, do not EVER unplug it. Leave it plugged in. Check the windows drivers to make sure it isnt showing as "kindle" again. Fastboot is different and can cause this.
Please note: If your device can't be seen in fastboot mode, please make sure to install the drivers packaged with this, as it will show up afterwards. You can use the install_drivers.bat with the device plugged in for this.

Not quite. First of all, you're in the wrong bootmode. You just need to change it back to normal and you'll be just fine. The guide posted earlier has information on the different bootmodes, how they work, and eventually how to change them. From your description it should be pretty easy to fix.
You also need to pay attention to the second post of that thread as it will help you verify that your drivers are in order. The third post will give you the necessary tools to fix your problem and any others that may arise.
I will tell you this, after you've changed your bootmode it would be a good idea to reinstall TWRP and then use TWRP to install FFF1.4
Thanx a lot Thepooch...My kindle fire is working now....
thanx.... I m thinking of installing FIREFIREFIRE v.1.4...It has fixed charging mode and other..
It'll help if it happens further...
Thanx again
Your welcome be careful with it now
I thought it's working but it is doing the same thing again again... it is rebooting and sticking to the bootscreen again after using 5 mins.....Cant understand the problem behind it...what to do?

Are you able to boot to recovery? If so, you might try running a backup and then load a custom rom just to test normal boot. I've had bootmode issues twice with the stock rom (6.3 & 6.3.1).

Run fastboot 5001 (full command in the guide thread).
If it says waiting on device, hold the power button until it shuts off and then power it back on. That should alow you to get into recovery.

Yep, that'll do it. The stock roms were not built to update with root/recovery installed. I learned that the hard way, too.

Sorry, I'm new at this too.
Started from 6.3.3 on my 1st gen Kindle Fire. I was able to follow instructions to root, convert to OtterX and installed an AICP ROM. I decided I didn't quite like that and wanted to try some other roms. I can't quite remember my train of thought, but for some reason or other I decided to go back to the stock ROM and go from there. I was able to reset to stock partitions and install TWRP 2.2.2.1 and then began flashing the stock rom per shadow's tutorials. However, at about 80% progress on flashing the stock ROM, TWRP froze up. I left it there for a day to see, and after almost 18 hours there had been no change so I did a hard reboot (power button for like 15 seconds) and it shut down. Upon restarting, it tried to boot the stock rom but nothing happens at all.
I've been trying to use Kindle Fire Utility, and Kindle Fire Unbrick Utility, but neither are able to locate the device. I can hear my computer detecting it though, when I plug in and reboot I get the notification sounds that a device is being plugged/unplugged. [edit] It is listed in Device Manager, as Android Phone > Android ADB Interface. But still, no utility like adb, KFU or anything else is able to see the device.
Any thoughts on what I could do to get back to any usable state here? Thanks in advance.

The unbrick utility doesn't work with 6.3.3.
You can't boot to stock if install fails.
Which bootloader? Can you boot to twrp?

Did not realize that about Unbrick, that explains some things.
I've since gotten over this hump and am now working on different issues. I could not get to a bootloader or recovery at all, until I got a fastboot cable. That changed the device listing on my PC to "Android Composite ADB Interface", and then it was recognized by adb and fastboot, which allowed me reflash a bootloader and TWRP, and get it back to booting into the loader instead of the failed stock ROM installation.

Hi, I have a kindle fire 1st gen. The problem is like this, I can`t get into recovery, I can`t get into OS wich is custom, it is stuck at booting. In device manager I can`t see the tablet/kindle/Amazon Kindle/Android phone. When I restart the tablet right before "booting"for a few second appears in Device Manager as Android Phone. The kindle is white and the fire is blue.
Please give me some piece of information about restore it to original. (windows 8.1 x64, twrp 2.8.5 - and I tried to push a lower version but I dont know if it succeded)
Thank you very much!
