NFC working with JB? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys,
I'm on Sprint and just got my Gnex on Saturday (Upgrade from Evo3d)
I didnt let it go two hours on ICS before flashing Jellybean so I've never used NFC or Google Wallet.
I was at a walgreens the other day and wanted to try wallet and it didnt seem to work. considering I havent used it before I dont know if I was doing it wrong but it doesnt seem hard.
I turned on the screen and held the back of the phone to the reader.
Anyone know if this works on the Sprint JB rom?

I can tell you my experience at Walgreens with a GSM Nexus. Tap your phone to the reader, then input your pin, then tap again and hold, tap screen to confirm payment.
It works for me on JB. I would assume sprint would work just fine too.

I've Google searched this before, after I stood there like an idiot trying to get my phone to scan. I don't think the cashier even believes that is a real option. Anyway, when I searched about it, I found out that most Walgreens don't even have the NFC active for some unknown reason.

Yep.
Walgreens in my area did the same exact thing.
And same scenario the lady was just like "uh..."
"Is this thing not turned on?"
"Yeah, it works."
"Humn [knowing for a fact that my NFC works perfectly] has anyone used it."
"No those mastercards never really went anywhere"
And now she thinks I'm an idiot .

How the hell do you use Google Wallet?

I setup my GW today and went to Sheetz to try to use it. I sat there like an idiot with my phone out as it did nothing and the line backed up behind me. How close do you have to get to the paypass thing?
It shouldn't be difficult, just bring your phone near the pay pass reader and it just works

lol 6 inches? you gotta almost touch it to the terminal. Ever see how close you have to get 2 phones together for android beam? like that close.
You should be happy that for your own security it doesn't work from 6inches away.
ahhh ok thanks, ill try again tomorrow before work
Bought 2 bags of potatoes today on Google, works pretty slick !
I got it about an inch away and heard a beep, the rest is history.
urgh I gotta wait till it comes to the UK

I tried at my local CVS today and they found out that their card reader didn't have pay pass activated, even though it supports it. The manager told me they had no idea how to set it up and that they really didn't care - in the past year that they have had it Im the only one that has ever asked about the feature.

Quick question, I am getting my gsm gn tomorrow. Which stores have paypass? like Starbucks , walmart, bestbuy? Tbh I haven't seen any paypass symbols b4. My area, while not a big city at all, is pretty well developed, even has vz lte.

They have a app in the market developed by mastercard to find nearest pay pass
It's called paypass locator

I just had a double cheeseburger and fries on Google. Thanks Google Wallet!!! It worked fine.
I've used my Google Wallet twice now and both times it's warped the cashier's fragile little mind
Thanks for the updates guys, just installed Google Wallet and received $10!
So what can you use it ANYWHERE a MasterCard PayPass is accepted? How do you do it? I'm always nervous to just try to swipe my phone up there, I dunno!
are you guys installing it using the APK?
question guys.. are you guys launching the app prior to swiping or just waking the phone/unlocking?

I think it's after you unlock it but I'm not sure. I just unlocked it so I don't look like an idiot if unlocking is required
I did the same exact thing. Got a double quarter pounder meal!
The people who worked there loved it.
All you have to do is when they're ready for you to pay, take out your phone, unlock it from the lock screen, then hold it to the reader (for them it's the little red pad above the card reader) takes less than a second before it registers the connection and pays for it. was able to take the phone out touch the pad and put it back in my pocket all in one motion. bam. it's that easy.
Me too! I just popped my NFC cherry at Jack In The Box. Thanks Google!
I first used it at my local grocery store. I found it to be very easy. To use G-wallet you have to set everything up in wallet first, obviously. Once you have a default card selected you can exit the app. Go to the store, simply wake the phone / unlock it if you use a lock screen, select credit on the stores pay pass system, hold the back of the phone to the NFC reader and the wallet app will pop up asking for your pin. Enter the pin and place the phone back on the NFC reader and you will hear a beep. That's it!

I have a GSM GNEX with Google Wallet and all, but I have to admit, that's a brilliant idea.
(runs off to make a case that holds your NFC credit card so it's not visible)
Instant NFC back. It's actually logical......
It's one thing to have it built into a case where it's not visible but an entirely other to just stick it on the back with some tape or glue ...pretty tacky if you ask me...

Well of course, hence the comment about making a case to hide the card.
Every succesful idea starts out pretty rough around the edges.
Where can we actually use Google Wallet in the US to pay for things? Not even sure how this works. I thought there are just a few places that accept this?
It doesn't replace your credit card right now in the US does it?

Where is the list when you need it?
"Another reason to own a GNex over an iPhone"
I didn't see the list present and I was just wondering....
Was that reason number 5438 or 5439?
LOL made me laugh
i dont see NFC is an advantage over iphone.
i make payment much faster with my credit card than using my phone.
turn on phone > pattern unlock > tab > enter pin > tab > hit send
One more reason
And the most sad and funny all rolled into one...

lol...did I ever say there were 5440 reasons....
and I'm sorry to hear that you all have problems with NFC but it has always worked first go for me. You can set your pw timeout in wallet so you dont have to go through the pin process. I have Wallet in my google folder on the home screen. All i have to do is wake up my phone tap twice and scan. Quicker than taking my wallet out and then my card, and then entering my pin/signing a receipt.

What is the last part after entering your pin? I'm confused by tab and send. I've used my phone pretty much everyday since buying it to pay for something and I have never done anything other than unlock and enter the pin. I usually do this while standing in line and since the app stays unlocked for roughly 5 mins after entering your pin the only thing I need to do when checking out is turn it on. No unlocking etc is needed. Because I can enter the pin etc while standing in line it makes it MUCH faster than using my card.

New Google Now Feature?

I saw this pop up on Google Now. I've never seen it before and haven't heard anything about it. I guess it's keeping track of how far you walk kind of like a pedometer. Anyone else seeing this?
Same here. Popped up today. Could not find more info.

Great find! What's interesting is that Google has been tracking how much you walk since late September. Did you by any chance just get your device/factory reset it then?
Featured it in a post here
Lets hope we get some more details about it soon.
It appears to use latitude to track your location history.

Here's mine. Walking distance may be right, can't say for sure, I walk a lot. But it also says I cycled 11 miles in October. Funny thing is, I don't even own a bike.
No bike here either, still says 1 mile for me

So you guys turn the gps on all time and let it track you?
Doesn't it drain battery?
I think it just works if you have enabled location history, without keeping GPS on.
