As title... which will you choose and why?
I really wouldn't get Beats anything, as there are cheaper alternatives which sound the same or better.
Personally I have the Pro version (don't like the fact that the studio need battery and modify the sound). They are a few cheaper alternatives but they are not as nice looking (my taste) and I got them 40% off so it was worth it
Pro: there the only beats headphones worth getting, only ones that are actually decent headphones and amazon sell them for £230 so worth it at that price
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Personally I don't believe the sound quality and limited storage space of the One X is worth any headphones over £80. You are simply wasting money as the the One X sound simply awful with high end audio device, also there is no way to bypass the onboard DAC and amp.
Actually I will sell my beat pro for another headphone, sennheiser suggested
If you want Beats, keep checking this site. There's none listed right now but there will be. It's at least 50% off, sometimes more.

Well this IS Monster Official Home Page so it is absolutely legit
Neither. I'll stick with my Shures.
That site is legit. It's their outlet store.
I personally have both beats tours and ultimate ears triple fi. The beats I just use like everyday headphones as they are enjoyable I guess you can say with the bass and surprisingly good mids and highs. Solid headphones really...got them at a good deal also. Triple fi are still better of course

I wouldn't post something that would leave you guys screwed. When they have Beats back in stock, also check here.
http://www.retailmenot.com/view/monstercable.com
They sometimes have coupons for %'s off on top of the discounted price. You can search "beats" at the link below too to see if there are any outlet deals running. They just had one which is why there are none in stock.

Neither, "Beats" headphones are for troglodytes. They have around the same audio quality as a pair of crushed up drink cans with audio modules from two speaking birthday cards stuck onto them.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
As said, neither. If you really want to use it up to its maximum potential, get AKG or even Audio Technica (I keep getting surprised by their value for money, most AT models have the same or better sound than 2-3 times pricier AKG models). Beats are REALLY lame in mid-range sounds, which is most important if you listen to anything other than Dubbstep.
I always find it funny how many people bash the Beats headphones, yet how many of you have actually had them to justify your choices, or just put off by the price tag instantly. I have a pair of Beats Solo HDs, used to have some iBeats, both sounded amazing when attached to my One X.
On their own (in the PC, or in my iPod) they sounded pretty generic and boring, but when attached to a HTC phone with BeatsAudio they are amazing. I've converted a few Apple-only guys over to getting a One X and some Beats just from that setting alone.

I work at an electronics store, I have all the models in display and try them alongside with many, many others - on an almost daily basis.
I'm not saying they're not good, I'm saying they're not better than sets with half the price-tag.

Thats fair enough then, I do find that without the Beats software they sound pretty much like every other head set available and you're mainly paying for the brand name. When it is paired with the software, they sound brilliant.

Thing is that the software makes all headsets sound good, but down-below, it's nothing more than a glorified equalizer.
If you want to get your mind blown, get hold of a Cowon player. ANY Cowon player. They're a gazillion times better (in audio quality) than anything else out there, and so when the weakest link is the headset, you tell the difference.
It also varies depending on musical style. Beats are heavy on bass and treble, but nothing in between. For the right kind of music with the right equalizer, it might sound amazing, but if you listen to something completely different - say, folk rock or classic or anything acoustic, you can tell they skimped on the mid-range in favor of the extreme highs and lows. Some people prefer that, though, so it's really just a matter of personal taste.
The bottom line though - and there are not enough words to describe how this irritates me...
Monster release absolutely ZERO technical specifications!
On ANYTHING! Beats? Nada. Clarity? Zilch. Impedance, Frequency Range, power consumption - nothing!
It makes me really suspicious of the whole thing and makes me feel like they don't publish the specs so they could put a higher price-tag on it and people would have a harder time comparing it objectively (Apple used to take the same approach, and I dislike them for reasons not very different than Monster...)
I am not an audiophile but i have the beats wireless for my one x. I listen to all kinds of music and I think they are great. Now I would not pay full price for them $280 ish. But I got them for 50% off so I went that route. I like the sound.

As im sure everyone who owns a SGN, knows that the built in speaker is crap.
So i was looking on the internet for a portable speaker in order to use with my SGN.
I just wanted to know whether you guys use portable speaker for your note, if so could you kindly let me know which speaker you use.
Any recommendations would be very helpful
So far i have decided on the Minirig speaker, but if you guys know anything better then please feel free to share.
this is the link for the Minirig speaker
This speaker costs about £89 OR $138. It might be a bit expensive but it looks like it is worth it compared to the costly Jawbone Jambox.
Your probably looking for something a bit more " hi-fi ", but on my desk I have a pair of Nokia MD-4 speakers. These neat little speakers give out surprisingly good sound & they are easy to fold up & put in your pocket. They sound best with Poweramp with the equalizer set to phone speaker (loud).

I have one of these....
http://www.fones.com/mobile-accessories/portable-bluetooth-speaker-3523.html
In fact I have 2 (thanks to a mate who said "yes, get me one too" then ordered his own, the numpty). You can have the other one if you are prepared to pay postage.
The unit is reasonably well built, runs off 3 AAA batteries or a supplied usb power cable, and has a 3.5mm input jack for other sources. Pairing it up is dead easy too, but it has a tendancy to hiss a lilttle bit (BT transport noise, maybe?) when the volume is low. My solution - crank it up loud!

Hi,
I have one of these and it's a real killer as sound is top notch:
http://www.soundmatters.com/foxl/technology.html
I have tried a lot of portable speakers and unfortunately you have to spend real money if you want something decent with real sound...
I have it for over a year and use it with my phone and my portable computer. If you use it with cable (at work with my computer), the battery lasts some 40-45 hours!!
It's very sturdy and compact, I love it!

Stick with your first choice MiniRig
NOKIA MD4.
That's the most portable one here, and the performance is decent enough.
It might not be as loud as the "MiniRig" but it is more compact, has a longer battery life.... but the real bonus here is that the MD4 is really cheap.
Try that first, I'm thinking of buying one now

Been using this for over 2 years, one of my best investments for a mobile phone extra, brilliant, use it at least 3 times week and it has a great sound, problem is I don´t think they make them any more AND I only payed 50euros for mine and not 199$
Big advantage is the use of bluetooth,no cables, which means you can use it all over the place,garden,work,office....or when your taken a hot bath ;-)
i grabbed some razer ferox speakers for under $50 i think. about 8 hours of battery life and they charge via usb. biggest problem is they pop open in the carrying bag all the time and im pretty sure the batteries drain when that happens. i use them for my laptop too.

I highly recommend an urBeats or a Sennheiser. I'm personally having the urBeats and an HD 418 from Sennheiser ( Which is not the best Sennheiser headphone ) and they're both stunning

I'm using BackBeats, and they're pretty darn good. The only issue is being earbuds, their playing battery life is in the vicinity of 3-4 hours.
I use the LG Tone+. They work great and have excellent battery life. The only issue I have is that sometimes they have a flaky connection for no apparent reason.
Before these, I had the jaybird freedom. They worked great until I lost them.
If you are an audiophile, you will probably be disappointed with all bluetooth headphones. You sacrifice a bit of fidelity because bluetooth compresses the signal.
I use mine at the gym. The slight downgrade in sound quality is worth it to be wireless when working out.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but although I've heard Bluetooth 4.0 does suffer reduced audio quality compared to earlier variants, I also believe that the One implements one of the newer Bluetooth audio codecs that cleans things up? Granted, it isn't going to match wired connections (or even better wireless methods), but I have heard it's significantly better.
If you want audio quality, all the blue tooth headsets you should look at is anything with apt X as that will make the sound quality almost sound lossless like a member said. Not many headsets support these thought but I really recommend you get an apt X enabled one. Then you have to look at what's more your style. On ear, in ear or over ear. If you want on ear, there are many option. I owned the jaybird sb2 and really liked them but they messed up on me after six months. Got it replaced no problem. If you are in ear, try the LG tone + or the jaybird freedom. There are many variations of the tone but look for one with apt X codec. Well let me go no further. Just get one that has apt X codec and start reading reviews and seeing what others say about what they like about it. Don't expect many people to talk about apt X. Many don't even have a device with it enabled. The HTC one does have it though. Happy hunting

I just received a set of nextwave bluetooth headphones ($24 on groupon) that I plan on using solely at the gym. I just tried them on rally quickly they fit very well, the sound was good, the connection was good also ( i moved my phone around into all my pockets) and for the price i couldnt go wrong. This is my first set of bluetooth headphones so I dont know what the sound quality is in the other ones.
I just bought a deleycon headset, I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Plantronics 903+, they sound amazing ( really you hear bass in there ), great battery life, very good signal ( you can move around without loosing connection ), and they look and feel superb. I forgot the convinient button placement for controlling your music and taking/placing calls.
Can't be happier with them , plus I bought em for 35USD ( ebay ).
The only con is the audio quality on calls, but other than that it works great in that departmanet as well
Cheers.

Even though I really like My Huawei Honor 2 (U9508), I am considering upgrading to a high-end phone, probably one of the following:
Find 7
Find 7a
One Plus
Sony Xperia Z2 phone
Of course if I am going to spend this much money, I do not want to loose any features the Huawei has.
One of those is the stereo speakers. I believe that the Oppo Find 7 has basically the same arrangement.
Some of the advertising says that it does not, but I believe these are from sites pushing the One Plus.
Can someone please authoritatively answer the following: (Pictures would be nice, too)
Does the Find 7 have internal stereo speakers?
Does the Find 7a?
I am not expecting the internal speakers in a phone to be like the speakers in a nightclub, but -in context- do they have some power?
(The Huawei is actually pretty good - noticeably louder than "regular phones", and there is actually some noticeable stereo effect.) Could the same be said of the Find 7/7a?
How about with a 3rd party firmware (such as a Cyanogen build) that does not have Maxxx audio (or whatever it is), will I still have true (albeit perhaps not enhanced) stereo from the internal speakers?
I have an antique mini/micro car that has no radio, and sometimes my phone is the only sound system when my daughter says "I Want Music !!".
Other information (about the sound quality of the phone, not the daughter's attitude) is welcome.

The speakers perform quite admirably. I find the speakers are very similar to the performance of the HTC One. In terms of Maxx Audio, It seems to matter most when using headphones. That being said, they should perform the same way with the Cyanogenmod built in DSP. I'll know for sure later. In terms of stereo performance, there may or may not be 2 speakers. I am unwilling to take a screwdriver to confirm. However, at the very least there are 2 speaker ports in which audio comes out. I've attached the pic. I used a stereo test app and covered a single port but could hear no discernible difference. At any rate, if there are 2 speakers you wouldn't discern stereo because the speakers are so close together.

The speakers on the phone are pretty good. I optimized the sound with ViPER4Android on Paranoid Android. There's a huge difference you can notice when using ViPER. The only thing that isn't that good, is the positioning of the speakers. Most of the time your hands will probably cover them. HTC One for example does this better.
But all in all, watching videos is quite enjoyable with the phones speakers.

I had been a user of Huawei Honor 2 for 2 years. When I switched to Find 7a I had to admit that Oppo sounds better (Maybe it's just the MaxxAudio thing..). In my opinion you will be very pleased if you decide to upgrade.
The only thing I am missing from Honor2 is the real-time facewarping feature in the camera, but it's not a big issue...
Thanks to all that replied.
There was also a thorough review on engadget.com that discussed the speakers quite a bit.
http://www.engadget.com/2014/07/24/oppo-find-7-review/
I also discovered that the Huawei P7 does have NFC, so the only one of my "requirements" that the P7 does not meet is the stereo speakers.
So as of right now, if I can find a P7 at a fair price (It should be about 1/2 what a Find 7 costs), I'll probably just settle for that.
If I'm stuck in the Find 7 price range, and I can get the US version with the carbon ("Space black", or whatever they call it) back, I'll probably go for that.
I'm not really considering a One Plus right now due to the "plastic-ness", and the irritating "invite" system, but it is not totally out of the question either.

I have both Find 7a and OnePlus and prefer OnePlus. It's not plasticky, it feels premium. You can't go wrong with either one.

Hi!
What do you think about em? Can we use them? Do they sound better if u use the filter I've provided to use in viper 4 android DDC in next post?
Anything else you wanna share?
So, a whole bunch of us got these puppies when we bought the phone. They look ok and got these buttons that work with LG phones, so I wanted to give them a spin.
The headache and puzzlement that ensued would last for weeks...
They don't sound really bad, but, the second I wanna crank up a tune, they scream my ears off, so I say to myself, bring out that trusty viper4android and get medieval on its ass!
Well, do I root the company phone? Not without giving it some thought. Especially since rooting was very new on this puppy. Well, bring on those normal equalIzers while thinking about it, eh? No dice. Just can't get em sounding right.
So, I root! And get stuck in the normal frenzy of modding and playing around. Eventually I have v4a installed and start cranking. Frustration sets in...
So what do others say about them? Very little, as it seems. The hype from lg says they are much better than qb2, they now use 4 membranes (!?), and the sound is described as otherworldly or its own universe, or what ever.... A few people just say it came with the phone and is by definition crap. Mostly its pretty quiet though....
The realisation slowly dawns on me, I'm gonna have to go the route of getting official measurements on these things and make a correction filter (DDC) for them. I did search for anyone that had done this and posted it. I'm lazy, and I know Jack sh*t about these things.
Finding what I needed proved challenging and time-consuming, I first stumbled on lg's own data and instantly noticed the 10db elevation on vocals. That is a doubling of the reference sound right? I think to myself, if I fix that, it'll make a world of difference.
Yeah... Well, now treble its a problem. I finally get a "good" measurement from golden ears. Turns out vocals was not that elevated. In fact, nothing seems particularly elevated, compared to lg charts.... I try to make a rough filter from these measurements only to realise I'm almost back where I started. Vocals screaming my ears off. Well at least I'm not killing my hearing with elevated treble...
I'm starting to suspect I don't understand how to use the golden ear measurements...
So I decide to go by ear, using the charts as a general idea. Hey did I say I was lazy? I'm not using any sweeps or comparing further apart... I'm just listening to music on my computer. I do of course understand it won't be the same on my phone. It's slightly coloring the sound too... After a few revisions I reach something that feels pretty good.
Bass is untouched since I like it, the balance with vocals and highs are decent but some parts of highs are elevated still. Not hurting my ears in the least but sound sometimes feels airy...
During this work I sometimes had a ridiculously wide soundstage at the expense of over all balance. Do I know what I'm saying here? Maybe, concept is new to me as was most of the things I've delved into these last weeks. I just know I really liked it but had to give it up to be able to play louder.... Ahem!
Its been a nice learning opportunity. I still don't know if these inears can be made to sound divine AND loud enough for my taste. If I had the right knowledge and experience. If I stuck to it or got help from a guru. Well, well... They are decent now.
I'm really wondering if someone, keeping quiet, have tales to share on this subject.
Or decent progress. I'll of course post the filter for your amusement shortly.
But, right now it's time for dinner.
Tata!

Experimental filter, additionally compensating treble, still using golden ears measurement.

My understanding of treble in inears is that it should naturally trail off and the tools I use are very imprecise , as is posted graphs, in high frequencies. Making it interesting to work on...

I'm really satisfied with QB3s.
I use Poweramp with that set:

Limited 7dB equalizer and limitation off.
I have modded the mixer_paths to a sober value for the headphones too.
If someone wanna test, PM me.

Yeap, poweramp is the best for me. I do have almost the same setting as you mate. I have the Sony MDR-XB450AP headphones and the QB3 but they are setup different in poweramp. It seems the QB3 sound is a little bit more focused on the treble I mean the Bass is great and along with the proper setting in PAmp they bang but it seems to me that at certain point the bass clarity is affected with a little chirp.. Barely noticeable but if you are a real musicholic you'll hear it.. When it returns the beat it makes this noise like when you are playing basketball in a cement court... Like ffchiirp ffchiirp..
Pay attention to it.. I guess it is not the headphones you use but the sound quality of the g4.. However even with this.. It sounds very good. I can live with it.

Noticed this before the changes i did in mixer_path.xml! I thought it was paranoia LOL!
But, yes! It sounds like you described... But now i think there's no more "ffchiirp ffchiirp".
I tested using some HQ FLACs. (Rage Against The Machine, Brazilian popular music ~bossa nova, samba~, Foo Fighters, some Hip Hop music, Electronics music and a lot of other things)
I hear now a lot of difference but nothing that change my mind.
I have a "small" collection of headphones but with G4 i only use the high sensitivity ones.
It sounds really good with AKG's K321, K420, K450(my profile pic) and K414p.
Koss the Plug (a 7 years old, modded a lot), Shure SE215, Sony MH1 and Audio Technica CK7 doesn't sound good as my old Xperia Z3, for example.
The "lack" of sub bass is the problem and it's related to LG's sound engine.
External mods will just make-up the sound. (as Poweramp already do)
Yeap
