SO AFTER flashing back and forth from ics to gb to ics to gb I'm running calks 3.0 gb rom and I'm having the issue that I can't get the tv to recognise my phone after connecting to it through a hdmi mhl adapteri used to just connect it and just hit source then select my phone and done deal I would be watching my vids or playing racing games on my large screen but now I can't my phone does have the all share app .. I know that to use the all share app it requires a wifi connection but I'm using a cable directly from device to tv.. any ideas what's missing
any ideas ?
Did you remember to plug the charger to the mhl adapter?

Dont see why i need to do that i didnt have to before but when i get home i will give it a try.. Wondering whats missing on Calks rom that is installed on Blend rom cause had no issue on that rom but want to keep using this rom
Hdmi adapters need a powersource. Without that it wont work.

thanks.. and if any other suggestion please let me know.
When i got mine i thought that too. Had my phone charged 100% but it didnt work until i plugged it up.

that's not necessarily true... its more like some phones require that the mhl to be powered... t mobile's galaxy ii does not require the mhl to be powered and several other phones don't require the mhl to be powered...

Sorry for the rant, but i was hoping this thing could be used on my desk to charge the Xoom and able to plug it into my USB port.
now I have to find a way to send files to it without removing it. BT does not work well and is kinda slow. Perhaps a wifi way, but still.. another little thing missed. I think I am going to stop buying moto accessories. the case that I got for it is such a pain.
/end rant
I'm also still waiting for the perfect accessories, i.e. a dock that has a port replicator on the back and a case with a built-in bluetooth keyboard.
As for the transfer I usually use Dropbox for smaller files. But not for movies for example.
I use SwiFTP, but still dumb that I have to go that route.. and its still not fast like it could be.
just dumb.. i mean, its a passthu.. i think i might get crazy and mod it.. but im not sure if it will work
i use the cifs kernel module with cifsmanager to mount my pc on my xoom to read/write files using windows sharing
works quite well, the speed is just as good as using usb
No needto apologize for the rant!
Engineers not knowing the full scoop, or something. I mean, it's really just silly not to have included the us.
As was mentioned in a prior post, dropbox is a great solution for files under 300megs.

not really.. more then a few megs is just a PITA!
I just installed an FTP client and can do it over wifi, no cloud stuff.
still would rather jsut have a USB plug.. what gets me is that it plugs into the USB port, just no output!
Hey, guys. I am pretty much feeling like this is a broken USB port, but here is a quick run down.
Flashed up to an EG22 based ROM a while ago, and flashed the modem via odin. This was a WHILE ago. And have flashed a few roms since then.
Soooo, here is my dilemma: Somewhere along the lines, I have lost any kind of data connectivity. Charging works fine, and I have tried this on a few other cables (stock, and a Western Digital external hard drive cable, and one 24 dollar cable from radio shack - i was desperate).
So, I am figuring that this is a bad USB port. Stupid. In order to do an insurance claim and get a new phone (thinking about going to a Nexus S 4G, since it is this phone's "equivalent"... I think) I have to have this thing back on an EC05 modem, or else I bite the cost of the phone.
any ideas, guys? I did QBKing77's full reset trick, still on EG22. That was my last effort after flashing a bunch of different ROMs.
Thanks again!
Sprint won't care if your rooted. I bet they wouldn't even check it in the first place. Take it in. But first, get something really small (q-tip) and put some alcohol (isopropyl) and clean out the port with the phone turned off. This is a galaxy s problem, happens
There is currently no way to change your modem from anything other than EB13 without Odin or Heimdall. Sorry. Just bring it in.

I had the sameeee exact problem and did everything I could but my phones usb port was just broken lol
This is what I did
there is a rom that will make ur phone look like stock ec05
Its over here in the development section look for something like "stock ec05 refs rom" or something like that
But the thing iss that I was stuck on eh17 no eg22
But that rom worked for me
I'm not sure if it'll work on eg22 but hopefully it will just download it on ur phone and flash it and just give it back it'll look completely stock

I'm having almost the same issue here, as my phone can charge through the USB, but it won't detect it as mass storage mode (debug mode run well, though..)
I can run usb tethering too, but only the mass storage mode doesn't work..
I have try using another cable, going to other ROM, but still no effect, and now I'm using a card reader to read my SD card, which is quite lame.. -_-
So i was stupid and tried to install vilian rom on my sgs2 which apparently is not for the t989. Now phone wont turn on or do anything. Is it completly bricked?
iunno if this helps but when i plug it into computer still makes noise like its connected =/ nothing on screen tho

Try to put your phone in download mode, using the key combination (volume up/volume down) at the same time, then plug in your USB cable that will put you in download mode, and then use Odin to flash Bubby stock kernel. If you have access to recovery, (volume up/volume down/power) and let go the power as soon you can see the Samsung logo, then just flash the last ROM you were using before your mistake. This is if you already have a ROM that you can flash via CWM in the SDCARD of your phone. If you don't have a CWM ROM in your SD Card ODIN is your best friend. Hope this can help you.

You can try to exchange calling Tmobile and tell them that something wierd happen to your phone, and you don't know what is going on. Don't tell them about the flashing; that happened to me one time with my Vibrant, and they exchanged no questions asked. No charges or fees. Hope this can help you.

Nice, Samsung loses some money, the world dies due to carbon emissions from delivery and you get a replacement phone for the one you broke.

I am currently using the Juggernaut v5.0 rom with what i believe is a custom kernal in which it says in the following lines:
2.6.35.14-SGH-T989-faux123-009u
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPTSat Jan 21 18:54:48 PST 2012
My question is, i'm looking for a kernal (that is what one of the players of XDA said in the juggernaut thread) that will be compatible with my MHL adapter. It sucks because the new juggernaut rom has been uber stable with me (I don't mess with anything much) and I'd love to keep it.... But if there is no compatible non-oem kernals, i might have to go back to stock to get full capabilities back. Thanks in advance for anyone's help!
P.S. If you're going to lecture me about the search function... I've already tried
The kernel that comes with juggernaut is MHL capable.
According to a post found within the thread, no, it doesn't support MHL. I've also tried it on my personal SGS2 and it doesn't seem to work either, that's why I asked for a MHL kernal
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23089084&postcount=6335
If someone can help me figure out a kernal, i send my many thanks to you

It does support MHL
Can you help me figure out why it's not working for me then? because i'm lost =\ it use to be just plug n play.... are there any ROM options that i need to check? Thanks
Are you sure your MHL adapter still works? HDMI cable firmly plugged in? Power adapter?
I am on Juggernaut 5.0 with the packaged kernel and use MHL often.
I managed to get it to work, it turns out my MHL adapter has to be plugged into HDMI + Charger before i attempt to plug it into my phone. Sorry for the wasted bandwidth!
Confirmed that Juggernaut v5.0 w/ kernal works with MHL adapter! *will post this thread in the juggernaut forums for reference*

dude... come on.
haha.... once again my apologies and many thanks to those who clarified it works! It was my fault, I'm still trying to get use to using the MHL adapter.... it worked on stock rom before and i don't know why it hung up on me on juggernaut rom, but it was really just because i have to plug everything in before the phone lol
the stock ROM from Samsung works with MHL without any change
Ok so I have my Droid Inc inactive since i got my gf a droid charge. I want to be able to use my Dinc as a wifi adapter for my desktop. I dont have a wifi adapter on it and 2 cheap to buy one. currently im using my E4GT as my adapter.
Is there any app out there that will let me connect my Dinc wifi and transfer than to my desktop or a rom that has that built in into it? The one on my E4GT has it built into the rom and just wondering if there is anything like that here.

You may be able to connect to wifi and then usb tether your phone to your pc. Im not sure exactly how it works, or if its even possible, but its something to look into.
Ya that's the way I do it on my epic touch. I just connect to wifi and hit USB tether under wireless and networks. I want to be able to do this on my Dinc.

I think its called Internet Connection Mode on the dinc under wireless and networks. I believe there are also several root apps on the market for usb tethering.
PdaNet is a good app for USB tethering, and doesn't require a rooting. It's free for basic tethering, and worked for me for everything I wanted. It was a very simple process. just search PdaNet in goodle, and it is under JuneFabrics.
Sorry I'm not allowed to make links yet
