Maybe you should mention the warranty void?

I think that those who post here on xda are already voiding warranty :-D

Yes, well some people don't. But I guess you would turn it in if you hadn't rooted it.

I guess everyone knows that when opening any gadget or appliances would void their warranty, even the noobiest of the noobs knows that..

THANKS a lot, worked for me, now i have better signal

Hmmm, wondering if I have this issue or not......
Would rather not open it though, send it back to HTC for a second time....
Is there a way to test this out say with a phone app, and I could use another android phone with the same software?

The warranty void stickers are on the screws inside just popping of the back will not void warranty.

That makes sense.

Found that out by myslef a while ago
My phone was working perfect and then a mate dropped it.
Afterwards I opened it and found out that the GSM cable was disconnected at the connection next to the speaker, at the bottom of the phone.
Was an easy and quick fix, but sucked because it was the 5th time I had to open my phone

i have a problem of having weak signal (3bars at most) and the data is always EDGE (E). The black cable as mentioned is slightly damaged because the last time i close the phone, it got stuck in between. So i am wondering if the cable my problem is due to the cable or are there any other pins? (the black cable is connected and still working but will it affect the signal?)

it depends also on your operator..maybe in your area it's not that good...

Problem solved. The black cable just need to be connected like a normal wire. The additional signal comes from the bottom lowest pin (connect the two pin together or when u fix and attach the back cover). As for me, i soldered all the back cover pin using the soldering wires to make sure all the pins are well connected. (this includes wifi, signal, data, gps, etc.)

Any body ever get the Yellow screen of doooooooom!!!!???

I experienced it today for about a minute and, it was just a yellow tint over the screen. My screen went back to normal after a minute or so. So the question is has this ever happened to any of you guys???

This. I used to have an E4GT and then I got the YSOD and 5 minutes later my phone exploded, shrapnel flying everywhere. Still have a piece of the screen lodged in my groin, doctors said they can't take it out because the risk of losing my junk was too high. Was going to replace it but honestly, it's not worth the risk. Decided to play it safe and got an iPhone 4S instead.
Be careful OP, the YSOD is serious sh*t.

A yellow tint over the screen can be two things. Either your ribbon cable connecting your screen to the board is loose or damaged (new screen will fix the problem) or the GPU on your board was overheating (whole new phone if it burns up). Are you running any custom ROMs? What were you doing when it happened? Have you dropped your phone?

It happened about 20 mins. after using odin to go to stock ek02 I was reading an article in wikipedia and all of a sudden everything had a yellow tint I thought it might just be the site but, then I found it was the entire phone screen. I wasn't doing anything that could have overloaded the gpu and, I haven't dropped my phone at all. After a quick google search I found that it could be a software problem since some other people have also had this problem but, it could also be a defect with the screen.... If you have any ideas please let me know.

Dont insert screwdriver into headphone socket.

Thought it would be a good idea to stick a screw driver into the 3.5mm port to try and fix the issue with my headphones not been detected.
Turns out using a screw driver just makes it worse, I have now cracked and distorted the back casing :banghead:

Try a chainsaw next time
Also do not use a pneumatic drill on the Headphone port.
Maybe the problem wasn't with the headphone socket.....maybe it was your ears. Time to re-focus that screwdriver action.
Yah, most will laugh but sometimes you do things you regret later, it's human.
Not everybody is perfect, especially not me.
Horrible but you can't revert, it's an expensive device.
I feel sorry for you.

Keeping to the theme of sticking things where they shouldn't go, did anyone else try to pop out the SIM tray using the secondary mic hole when they first got the phone?
Did you? Hopefully not.
It did cross my mind as well but I do investigate and read the instruction manual before I do anything I don't know 100%.

None taken mate, guess I mistook you for a lmgtfy guy who just wants everything chewed up for him, and I am sorry for that.
However, can't help you with that precisely, but since you already know where is what, why not just get that mic off of ebay (I'm guessing it's cheap) and see it for yourself. Either you just need to plug out the old one and plug the new one in the right slot, or just cut the old one from the motherboard and solder the new one on it. Maybe if you could post some pics of the inside of your device where the mic is, I could try to work something out from there...
Cheers!

It looks like you would have to chip the old one off and solder the new one on, but then again, maybe one of your contacts on the motherboard is broken? What happened before it broke, did you do something with it, or did it just stop working?

If there is no damage on the screen or on pcb should be replaced in warranty, have you rooted the phone?

Yeah, it's rooted. Unfortunately no warranty, I'm thinking to get a new phone.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Yes. But I have done some searches, this problem is quite popular, a lot of people are getting the same problem. This is definitely a faulty design or manufacturing.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
I have the same problem. I just posted a thread about it. I havent rooted my phone and the problem is still there after a factory reset. I was told an app could cause the problem but already with the set up of the phone it all went wrong again. Going to contact customer service again on tuesday and see what they are going to do for me but I'm afraid it is not going to be much and they will never admit that the HOX is a huge failure and has lots of problems. This is my last HTC phone because I am really fed up with the quality and the bad customer service.
If the phone isn't covered under warranty have you tried contacting your carrier, if you got it through them?
This is CPU hardware problem. If you wish, pay over $150 to change the parts if no warranty.

if its not covered by warantee jus pop the phone open from the botttom with ur fingers and lift screen out there it a connecter on the top right of the phone just disconnect and reconnect that and double check all the ribbon cables or even keep pressed the cables and press power see if screen is back to normal. that should elimate if its the screen or the bored.

4 years old desire died

Hi all,
My sister tried installing candy crash on her, used to be mine, desire.
The phone crashed, funny isn't it, and all it can do now is charge but will not operate at all, even not to boot loader.
The device is rooted, s off and with partition table of cm.
It had cm 2.3.7 and cwm recovery before crash.
When charging, orange led will lit but when pressing power button to start the device led will turn off and nothing else happen.
The only way to get the charging led to lit again is to remove and reinstall the battery.
Any clue?
Thanks,
Oren

If you can't get to bootloader then it's hard from here. How about fastboot (back + power)
Try the troubleshooting thread stickied to the top of q&a
Likely you'll have to run an RUU, but you'll lose all your data in the process.
Thanks.
I'll try to check if I get ADB to see the device.
Maybe the display is to blame for not working.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
So I don't get anything...
Even Charging will take place only after I remove the battery and reinstall.
So it's dead completely?
Was there enough internal space before she installed Candy crush?
Verstuurd vanaf mijn HTC Desire met Tapatalk
Actually since I wasn't the user and the user is not someone who check it, I can't tell.
Yet, does it slow to install if no sufficient space is available?
Not that I'm aware of.

Thanks.
Even if it is the issue, the unit does now not operate at all.

As I anticipated, HTC mail/phone support cannot help and a lab check is needed.
It's a $25 worth for the problem definition.
I'll update once I have news.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Ok, so the check cost only $15, but this is the only good news...
The problem is the mother board and its fix would cost around $200 which is insane for such an old device.
I asked them to and it back and thought I would try doing it alone.
The issue is, I can't find a place on the net for buying such a mother board...
Can someone suggest please?

Really simple. Take out battery, simcard and sdcard, take out the screws then unclip the plastic then ul see the motherboard then unclip the flex cables and take out the motherboard. Ul be surprised how easy it is. Theres good videos on youtube anyway if u need bit of help.
Ok, main board arrived 2 days ago and yesterday evening I finally found the time to replace it.
It seems the unit works now but the display doesn't...
I disassembled again and reassembled just to verify all connectors are connected as they should but still....

Try to check if the 3 cable in blue circles are COMPLETELY plugged.
I once forgot to plug back one of them and my screen was dead too.
They sometimes seems to be plugged but actually not.
And, make sure your "new" motherboard is really also working.
