So, for almost a year now, I have HTC Desire and for about 6 months run Desire HD rom on it...
Just wondering what will be the best replacement to it in upcoming summer.
From what I saw, nothing really worth to replace for but was I wrong ?
And it need to be GSM... any suggestions will be great.
Thanks
Lior
I think Desire S is a good option
Sensation is worth it desire s is basically the desire with software we've ported and is as fast on data++
I would wait for one of the new dual core phones. Sounds like there are going to be some badass ones coming out in the last half of 2011.
for me:
dual core,
tegra or better
4.3" or bigger screen (desire is too small for me)
the important ones:
must be rootable and have community support like the desire. can't rely on carriers/manuf to upgrade phone
wait for sensation or evo 3d gsm
these are the future because desire/incredible S
came out at a wrong time they won't be upgradeable to sense 3.0 unless by ports thus, their updates will be very limited like our official gingerbread update we're still on sense 1.9 :'(
but i'm running an S rom
and i know these will be my replacement phones

HTC sensation or Evo 3d fits your bill perfectly

Definetely going for the Sensation!
I will get SGS2. I think Samsung did better job than HTC this year - better hardware in a smaller package.
Thank you all. I think too that desire S is not a proper replacement because it didn't really bring any upgrades so I wait a little bit more.
Not interested in other manufactures since I really like htc.

in november? i'd imagine that there would be something better out by then.
1080p recording would be decent too and i kinda like the way LG is going
The HTC rep gave me a seek preview of the sensation yesterday at the gadget show and it is sensational, it was a pre release and had an lcd screen instead of the super LED that will be fitted, it also had some pre release software but was super quick with the dual core.
That is my next phone after the desire

I'd get the HTC Sensation or a variant of it. Once it comes out, it will be the only real upgrade from HTC that we know of, all other phones are kind of on the same level.
That of course, if you want to stay with HTC.
After I saw it's specs, it is lead replacement for me for now.

Same here! My new phone MUST have at least these features
I'd go for the Sensation if i had to, but actually i think i'll wait till the first 2ghz dual-core hits the floor
Why on earth would you want to replace a perfect phone?!
I really wanted to get an Incredible S its a nice size and a nice looking device. But it like the Desire S seems to have lost the HTC DNA with the bootloader now being signed and it being hard to crack. Its out for 2 months and still not rooted. Desire is still better than these devices IMO. Same might be story for sensation
So I've seen some cool htc one X roms (real sense 4) for other htc devices. My question is can we build a Real sense 4 rom for desire hd I know that it isnt easy but they built a sense 4 rom for mytouch 4g which is not a better phone compared to desire hd.

If your question stops at "can we..." then the answer to this is sure, as you can see the devs already developed ics from source (on your face htc devs) meaning it was made from scratch with no help whatsoever from the vendor (htc) now porting sense 4 is possible but it'll take some time before that because the first priority is either to wait for leaked desire hd official update for camcoder to work or coming up with a patch which'll be hard.
Not sure but i think i've seen a port with full sense 4 but not sure if it is for desire hd or did i see it in another phone section.
htc sense 4
there are 2 sense 4 roms at the moment for desire hd based on the htc one s but no camera working yet..se3nse 4 rom is primo 3.3
Its possible to port it but not sure if it will work properly because there is hardware differences the one x is a quad core phone ours is a single core so it will be verry slow however the primo s is a port from one v wich is single core so i think it will be the best
If by original you mean the full sense 4 [One x and s] i believe to have read that apart from the quad-core processor even if the DHD could theoretically run sense 4 the system partition is to small to fit full sense 4 and thats why we only get the [lite] sense 4A that comes with the one v. I might be wrong or there could be compression methods for fitting it in the DHD but it would probably slow things even more.
Hey everyone!
Just did a video unboxing and first look at the HTC One V, i was really surprised at the amount of things that are off about this device. In fact im tempted to do a HTC One V vs HTC Hero video. I honestly think that the old HTC Hero in froyo or gingerbread flavour would out do the One V in MANY aspects.....just my opinion.
later guys =)
The jellybean update for our HTC One X is supposedly to be rolled out in October says HTC when they announced the One X+. The new version is dubbed Sense 4.0+ not sense 4.5. Hmm I wonder the difference from our leaked sense 4 jellybean.

Press released by HTC
HTC INTRODUCES THE HTC ONE™ X+.
MORE SPEED, MORE STORAGE AND MORE BATTERY LIFE
MAKE HTC'S BEST RATED ANDROID PHONE, EVEN BETTER
HTC also announces SenseTM 4+ with Android Jelly Bean upgrades for
HTC One X and HTC One S coming soon
TAIPEI - 2ND OCTOBER, 2012 - HTC, a global leader in mobile innovation and design, today unveiled the HTC One™ X+, a refreshed version of its award winning HTC One™ X smartphone, running the HTC SenseTM 4+ experience on Android™ Jelly Bean. The HTC One™ X+ combines the iconic design, amazing camera and authentic audio experience of the HTC One series, with increased performance, longer battery life and expanded internal storage.
"We are taking the HTC One™ X to a new level with the introduction of the new HTC One™ X+," said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation. "Our customers will have super-fast browsing, an even better camera and more immersive entertainment with Beats Audio."
Performance, Endurance and Storage
Featuring a 1.7 GHz quad-core NVIDIA® Tegra® 3 AP37 processor and 64GB of internal storage, the HTC One™ X+ LTE version is up to 67% faster than the HTC One™ X1 LTE, making the HTC One™ X+ the best rated Android phone on the market. Developed to be lightning fast, the HTC One™ X+ enables quicker web browsing, fluid gaming and graphic rendering, and speedy downloads, providing effortless usage on the go.
In addition to its increased performance speeds, the HTC One™ X+ introduces extended performance with the inclusion of a 2100 mAh battery, giving you up to 50% (6 hours) more talk time, and longer to browse the web and enjoy your favorite music and videos2.
Imaging, Music and Movies
Combining the amazing camera capabilities of its predecessor3* with a series of intelligent features, powered by SenseTM 4+, the HTC One™ X+ has been designed to deliver the most premium mobile experience. The newly launched Self Portrait mode on the front camera helps you capture high quality photos by intuitively detecting the human face at various angles and applying subtle enhancements to skin and eyes. Sightseeing mode makes sure you'll always be ready to capture the moment - one touch of the power button bypasses the lock screen and launches directly into the camera. Two new views in Gallery display images and videos and group them according to where and when they were taken.
Exclusively available on HTC smartphones, Beats AudioTM provides authentic, studio-quality sound that delivers the most immersive sound experience with an enhanced audio profile, crisper vocals and detailed high notes for your music, games, movies and videos. Making it easier to listen to music out loud, and through SenseTM 4+, the HTC One™ X+ introduces a new Tap and Go function, which allows you to connect the phone and your music to Beats speakers'4 when you tap them. To disconnect, it is just another quick tap.
Providing exclusive access to thousands of movies through HTC Watch 2.0, the HTC One™ X+ will appeal to both the avid film fan and the casual movie-goer. Combined with the introduction of video hub, another benefit of SenseTM 4+, for the first time you will be able to put all your video entertainment in a single place.
Easy Set Up
A new feature in the HTC One™ X+ is HTC Get Started, a new web service that guides the user painlessly through the set-up and personalisation process from a desktop web browser. Designed to enhance the experience of setting up a phone for the first time, this feature ensures that users will get the most out of their new phone from the beginning. With the touch of a button, users' phone will reflect the settings and apps that were chosen on the Web. Visit start.htc.com for more details.
Availability
The HTC One™ X+ will be available in Europe and North Asia from October and in South Asia from November 2012. North America will make a separate announcement regarding availability of the HTC One™ X+. The Android Jelly Bean with HTC™ Sense 4+ update is scheduled to begin rolling out for the HTC One™ S and HTC One™ X from October.

Pointless much?! It's only so that HTC can say:

Woah. Look at this HTC one x hands on video by engadget.
At 2:20, the HTC guy tries to show Google now... on his own HTC One X (no red accents, no AT&T logo).
So Sense 4+ is already circulating internally and looks ready to go!

Ahem.... Now that we have this settled I wonder why this is dubbed sense 4+? Anybody have any ideas? Is there any correlation to the sense 4.5 leak or those stupid fake Chinese leaks?

Maybe HTC decide to change the name to suit the new One X+ so they put Sense 4+. Nothing new. It still Sense 4.5 to us.

October 15-26 according to Mike!
ViperX Goodness
So, I used to have HTC One X. It was a nice phone, but battery life was really really awful.
Now I have an old Samsung Duos, and I feel like I want an Android phone again. And I decided it should be HTC.
But now I have a dilemma - buy HTC One S or HTC One V.
I know that HTC One V version of HTC Sense is different from HTC One S's HTC Sense(which has the same version as HTC One X).
But what are the differences? The only two things I know are non-changable home-screen number and default Android recent apps layout.
What are other differences? The most interesting features for me are:
-Graphical interface - that white with nice cool icons.
-Themes - can they be changed in HTC One V?
-That cool camera app - is it the same as on HTC One S?
-Lockscreen shortucts - are they present in HTC One V?
-Smoothness - is HTC One V much more laggy than HTC One S?
And what are the other things which are different? Tell me please.
the obvious choice is go for the One S man!
i own both of em and im tellin ya go for the One S

Yes the obvious choice is of course one s as seraz007 said..
Concideruing your interesting features
graphical interface-one v and one s have the same icons (but one s has a lot more options for customisation you can change the no of homescreens, 3d rosie is available on one s, the pinch to preview homescreen feature is on one s -These all are NOT INCLUDED IN STOCK ONE V)
Themes can be changed on one v but one s has more themes (as it got updated to jellybean (i am not sure) with sense 4+ so sense 4+ themes are available)
camera has almost the same featues but one has a better camera in terms of Megapixels
Lockscreen shortcuts are avaliable on one v -but you cant change the lockscreen (one s has a variety of lockscreens like weather, friend stream
Smoothness-stock one v lags at times with multitasking due to a single core processor- One s surely performs better
Note- if u choose to root your one v there are many custom roms that provide all these features (but not all)
There's no question there, the One S is the model above the One V. You get what you pay for
If your comparing One V to the One S your obvious choice would be to go for the One S as it is better than the One V in almost every way.
I've been used both One S(S4) and One V. All I can say is One S way better but only the amoled pentile screen is bad for reading small text in broswer/pdf. On the other hand, One V used a low-grade IPS which is even more clear to display it on a smaller 3.7" screen.
If you talk about speed One S(S4) is 300% faster no kidding, the price tells you, be sure to get the S4 z520e, not the S3 z560e. The sense actually isn't much of a different.
However, if you decide to get One V because of budget purpose. You have to unlock bootloader and flash custom kernels/roms(sense4.1 4.0.4) void the warranty because the official rom we have is still only sense4.0 4.0.3 which is way too old and unusable(for me) because One V is a discontinued model now and no new updates from HTC. One S already received JB4.1.1 and will get sense5.1 4.2.2 after a couple of months, it has ongoing support. We might have chance to have JB4.1.1 later if any dev willing to port it for us, no promise.
The camera on One S is way better because of HTC stopped the camera driver updates on One V. If you run on the stock One V rom, the image quality is exactly like a year ago on your One X, pretty much an aged 4.0.3 style, very bad quality. After me flashed custom kernel + rom and borrowed the lastest camera.apk from One X/S, the image quality finally reached the HTC 4.0.4 level now, many works to do. However, the 4.1.1 camera on One S is better than 4.0.4, don't forget this point.
