[Q] HTC One V Sense vs. HTC One S sense - HTC One V

So, I used to have HTC One X. It was a nice phone, but battery life was really really awful.
Now I have an old Samsung Duos, and I feel like I want an Android phone again. And I decided it should be HTC.
But now I have a dilemma - buy HTC One S or HTC One V.
I know that HTC One V version of HTC Sense is different from HTC One S's HTC Sense(which has the same version as HTC One X).
But what are the differences? The only two things I know are non-changable home-screen number and default Android recent apps layout.
What are other differences? The most interesting features for me are:
-Graphical interface - that white with nice cool icons.
-Themes - can they be changed in HTC One V?
-That cool camera app - is it the same as on HTC One S?
-Lockscreen shortucts - are they present in HTC One V?
-Smoothness - is HTC One V much more laggy than HTC One S?
And what are the other things which are different? Tell me please.

the obvious choice is go for the One S man!
i own both of em and im tellin ya go for the One S

Yes the obvious choice is of course one s as seraz007 said..
Concideruing your interesting features
graphical interface-one v and one s have the same icons (but one s has a lot more options for customisation you can change the no of homescreens, 3d rosie is available on one s, the pinch to preview homescreen feature is on one s -These all are NOT INCLUDED IN STOCK ONE V)
Themes can be changed on one v but one s has more themes (as it got updated to jellybean (i am not sure) with sense 4+ so sense 4+ themes are available)
camera has almost the same featues but one has a better camera in terms of Megapixels
Lockscreen shortcuts are avaliable on one v -but you cant change the lockscreen (one s has a variety of lockscreens like weather, friend stream
Smoothness-stock one v lags at times with multitasking due to a single core processor- One s surely performs better
Note- if u choose to root your one v there are many custom roms that provide all these features (but not all)

There's no question there, the One S is the model above the One V. You get what you pay for

If your comparing One V to the One S your obvious choice would be to go for the One S as it is better than the One V in almost every way.

I've been used both One S(S4) and One V. All I can say is One S way better but only the amoled pentile screen is bad for reading small text in broswer/pdf. On the other hand, One V used a low-grade IPS which is even more clear to display it on a smaller 3.7" screen.
If you talk about speed One S(S4) is 300% faster no kidding, the price tells you, be sure to get the S4 z520e, not the S3 z560e. The sense actually isn't much of a different.
However, if you decide to get One V because of budget purpose. You have to unlock bootloader and flash custom kernels/roms(sense4.1 4.0.4) void the warranty because the official rom we have is still only sense4.0 4.0.3 which is way too old and unusable(for me) because One V is a discontinued model now and no new updates from HTC. One S already received JB4.1.1 and will get sense5.1 4.2.2 after a couple of months, it has ongoing support. We might have chance to have JB4.1.1 later if any dev willing to port it for us, no promise.
The camera on One S is way better because of HTC stopped the camera driver updates on One V. If you run on the stock One V rom, the image quality is exactly like a year ago on your One X, pretty much an aged 4.0.3 style, very bad quality. After me flashed custom kernel + rom and borrowed the lastest camera.apk from One X/S, the image quality finally reached the HTC 4.0.4 level now, many works to do. However, the 4.1.1 camera on One S is better than 4.0.4, don't forget this point.

[Q] Will One X have official CM9 someday?

Hi, I have possibility to change from Samsung Galaxy S2 to HTC One X... I like CM9 on SGS2... So my question is: will One X have official CM release? I know it's hard to tell, but please post yout guesses (for example Sensation doesn't have official CM).
We have a lot of talended Developers now at One X. I'm pretty sure we'll get CM9 offically or unoffically.
So you think it's good choice to switch from SGS2 to One X?

IMO One X is lot better than SGS2. We have already developers started on One X ROM. More developers are getting One X AFAIK. It's gonna be a fun ride with One X.

[Poll] Which device are you coming from? Are you happy with One X?

I started a new thread to see what do you think for HTC One X and which device are you coming from ?
My first android device was HTC Desire HD and after that i replaced it with the Samsung Galaxy SII but i was missing HTC Sense a lot plus every time i flashed a new ROM the recovery was not the same on the GSII and the development was pretty much the same on every ROM, so i decided to go back and get an HTC device and a got the One X and i am very happy with it!
Happy users: Display, Sense, Design, Internal storage, Camera
Unhappy users: S-ON, Battery life, Non removal battery, No SD card
Original Desire->SGS2->HOX, I too missed sense too much. I like the device especially the screen(finally I can read full webpages unzoomed!) but it's not as fast as I had hoped. I gave my gf the One S before buying the HOX for myself but the One S just appears to be much, much faster. Speedwise the HOX is about as fast as the SGS2
Came from Note....except battery life, everything is awesome
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Came from desire HD and lo e the HOX just hate the battery life in 1.29....7
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
If we are talking only android phones I started with an xperia x10i. Then moved on to HTC incredible S and now to my one x.
Those has been my daily use phones but as secondary phones I've also had HTC wildfire, HTC desire and LG optimus 2x.
Actually I like my hox the best even though I haven't even rooted it.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
From Samsung Galaxy S -> HOX. And I'm VERY happy! Kies was real pain in the ass!
I customized SGS after one day of use, now I don't even think about to put custom firmwares to One X.. No need to customize.
I come from a total HTC lineup...Desire,DesireHD,Sensation and now the One X.
I love the One X but i`m very sad at the way HTC have made it harder and harder for true enthusiasts to get total control..i.e. locked bootloaders,no S-off.Seems HTC want to forget their rooting community
Came from HTC Sensation and happy with the One X:
1: bigger and better screen
2: quad core CPU
3: internal storage
4: design is better
5: better camera
Not so happy about:
1: non removal battery
2: no SD card slot
Came from the dinosaur age, nokia e66
Htc one x as my first android phone
Happy with: Big screens+awesome display, quad core, awesome design
Unhappy with: S-on, built in battery
Desire -> Desire HD -> One X
Honestly couldn't be happier with my HOX! Coming from a DHD - and even then not using a spare battery - the battery in this is so much better, so I don't find it to be an issue. Also, no expandable memory isn't an issue for me as beforehand I only had an 8gb card, I know they fairly inexpensive to buy but having 32gb from the off is brilliant.
Other points I love are the camera, gaming and Sense 4.0 of course!
This is my first android device after being an Apple user for years. Couldn't be happier and will never go back
Came from Galaxy S and samsung sucks! HTC One X is best! I just need S-ON others are perfect!
Coming from the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10
Very happy in comparison, its very nice to be able to charge my phone via the USB cable!
When USB ports break, it makes you appreciate them a lot more!
I'm an old HTC addict, changing my cellphone every ~2 years
spv C500 >> HTC Tytn2 >> HTC Touch Pro 2 >> HOX
of course, HOX is a big improvement for me !
Used HTC Desire & then moved to Sony Xperia x10i(Indian launch was delayed & i somehow liked this device over Desire because of even battery life etc) & now the One X
I like One X for larger display, ICS, uni-body design, Quad Core & of course the Sense UI
Dislikes would mainly be battery life, non user accessible battery
I came from Original Desire and very happy with Hox
Better and bigger screen (Love It)
Bigger Internal storage (and this why I hated My Desire)
Beats audio
ICS+Sense 4.0 (F*** TW)
htc better than other Manufactures and faster in Updates ( Samsung the worst)
The best design ATM
Comming from the HTC Hero, first impression: The screen is huge! Like it a lot actually, finally I can read/write mails properly on this screen. Doesn't really fit in my pants just yet though, but then yet again when I got my Hero I first thought that bugger was quite large. Guess I have to get used to the feeling.
HTC Hero was also the first device which had HTC Sense, back then it was quite sluggish and I quickly embraced AOSP ROMs. But at the One X, I think they quite hit the nail. It is quite functional while the speed is just massive.
I came from iPhone 4s and iPhones for the past 4 years.
I just needed a change. I can get all the stuff I Jailbroke stock on the one x. I'm liking the change
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I come from a touch hd/DHD/ and now my one x. Can't comment properly as only had it a day. But so far I'm impressed. First thing I did when I got it was unlock and put ARHD on it best thing I did tbh. The stock was horrific... :-\
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I still have my Note, didnt get rid of it yet. Bought the One X for my sister, but it will be with me until her exams are over.
I got a defective piece to begin with, but HTC took it back and gave me brand new sealed pack piece (This time it was 24A and it is flawless).
Overall I am OK with the phone. No issues with interface, I quiet like the Sense 4.
MY problem is with the buttons. Volume and power buttons should have been better. (Operating them when laying on bed at night can be a problem due to lack of feedback and difficulty in finding power key )
And coming from Note, the battery life is little bit of downer. Also hate the battery stats issue where it does not show the real battery usage and indicator suddenly drops 5-10%.
Surprised by the screen quality. Good stuff from HTC in that department.
Not happy with 3 dot menu at all. Its stupid. Consolation is that we have fix and button remapping mod.
I have mixed feelings about this phone. I am also not wooed in by the polycarbonate build. Its amazingly light, but It feels odd in hands. Maybe its just matter of getting used to it. Also I dont have case for it yet. So once that comes, this should be non issue.
Great stuff from HTC in a while, but dont think its the best they could have done.

[Q] htc one x or galaxy nexus

Hi everyone
so, I'm buying a new phone, & I can't pretty much decide which of these 2 to pick & I have some questions
first, it's the one x lag in the browser & some other places I have seen in the reviews, is there any official update to fix & make it faster than nexus?? (I mean seriously guys this phone is 4core)
also one more thing, I like the pure ICS more than HTC's ICS, is there any rom that simply has everything like a normal ICS?
& where will be the menu button for the non ICS optimized app? in galaxy nexus it's on screen buttons so there's a solution... what about one x?
& last thing is ur realistic opinion about which one to buy? do you think HTC one X (now with all these lags) is like the motorola xoom with Tegra 2 when it came?
my point is I think it just need time for bug fixes? is that so or it's all hardware issue??
& thanks for your times
I currently own both. They are both great devices, so it really comes down to priorities:
1) Camera - HTC One X
2) Screen - HTC One X
3) Multitasking - Nexus
4) Reception (radio) - HTC One X
Nexus has a great screen, but One X is just that much better. Radio reception is also noticeably better on the One X, though it's not horrible on the Nexus (GSM). Camera is significantly better on the One X, but I didn't find the Nexus to take bad photos either.
If you prefer stock, then you should probably go with the Nexus. That's as stock as it gets, though there is a CM9 ROM for the One X now, if you'd rather have the camera and screen. I do not experience lag on my One X. The browser "lag" is simply the reflowing of text when you zoom in. It's not bad at all. The rest of the phone is smooth for me. I'm not really sure how it could lag because the phone kills apps almost immediately and frees up resources.
But that's the catch: If you multitask a lot, you probably won't like the One X. Multitasking works, but it's very limited (2-3 apps max) and not nearly as reliable and fluid as it is on the Nexus.
For me, I prefer the One X for the social contact integration, camera, and screen. But it all comes down to your personal preference.

thanks, it helped me a lot, about one more thing, how's keyboard & typing in one x?
(since you talked of CM9, is everything the same as other CM9's? the keyboard, menu bla bla??)
& also about the button for the non ICS optimized app, where would you press for the menu button?
I'm sure there are more people curious, so I think it would be really helpful if you can post a short video or screenshot here, because htc one x doesn't have those on screen buttons

The reviewers gave the HTC One X's keyboard a bad rap, but I like it. It has some useless arrow keys and takes up a lot of the screen, but I find typing on it a pleasure. And if you don't like it, it's easily replaced, even with stock ICS keyboard , if you want.
I honestly can't speak to CM9. I am running stock Sense 4.0 on my One X and have no intention of changing that. I would assume that, since it's a Cyanogenmod, it's identical to other iterations.

Right now, the orphaned menu button takes up a strip on the bottom of the apps, around the same place that the soft keys would be on stock ICS. It's annoying, but not a deal-breaker. As developers update their apps, this will change.
i have used them both today.. a friend of mine has nexus and saw me playing with my one x.. we played with them a lot and compared also..
first the screen: one X has a better screen with better white balance and there is more room in the screen since the buttons are not on it.. nexus has a part of the screen cut off all the time, so there is no full 4.7" screen for the user
camera: they are both good, we were looking the photos in our phones so no fair comparison was possible as long as they are not on the same big screen..
multitasking: even though one x has more user-available RAM it kills the background apps earlier.. i do not know why.. maybe it wants to keep the battery long-lasting since it is a 4 core device..
speed and performance: real difference there, we opened the browser and got the xda main page and searched some words.. nexus was freezing when typing and searching the word in the very letter-crowded page (so was my old sensation XE) but the one X is was able to find it in 1 second approx.
sound: i guess no winner here.. but when it comes to the earphones, one X has the beats audio..
gaming: they both play what we throw at but when it comes to the benchmarking one X is much better in 3d and 2d performance..
feeling on the hand: nexus is lighter but there is this bubbled part under it.. on the other hand one X has better feeling on your hand but wider with a coming-out camera which is easy to be scratched.. keep that in mind if you are planning to use it one-handed with small hands
and also;
nexus has no FM radio, one X has bigger memory..
and i believe that the vanilla experience is good looking but every new touch that knows what-to-do is bringing something new to the devices.. so, in my opinion HTC has modified the android very well..

Is the HTC One V worth getting?

Hi guys and girls
I lost access to my old XDA account but I decided to make a new one so here I am.
I used to be very active in the HTC Wildfire section but my contract with Three ran out so it's time for upgrading my device and I have chosen to go with a Virgin Mobile contract that includes the HTC One V Device.
So what I am basically asking is after viewing some reviews for myself I would like to know the following...
1) Is the HTC One V a smooth, fast and reliable device with it's stock ROM?
2) Is the device up to standards for example is it as good as you thought it would be?
3) Do you personally think that the HTC One V is better than the HTC Wildfire and if so why?
Also I have seen some videos on YouTube and some people were saying that the device has a battery that cannot be detached and others were showing the device with a detachable battery so are there two different versions of the same phone? :S
Thanks guys

1) Yes mine is very quick even with the stock rom. I've since rooted it and installed CM9 but that was not because of performance/reliability problems stock but rather because I wanted more options available to me
2) Mine is so much better than I thought. It just works. Of course I came from an Optimus V so it's definitely a big improvement.
3) Everything I've heard says this thing beats the Wildfire out of the water!
I should note that the One V (among other phones) is 20% off at virginmobileusa.com right now. I paid full boat for mine now I wish I had waited a few weeks! Oh well no complaints.
Mine does NOT have a detachable battery but if you hold the power button down for ten seconds it forces it to power off.
Yes,
I recently moved from a desire,.
The Desire is very similar in specs to the One V, but:
* much brighter screen
* no messing with data2sd, or other scripts. Given the nand size of the V I reinstalled all the same 92 apps as my desire, room for way more. And way faster and smoother as everything is on the nand. I believe this will apply to you as well coming from the wildfire.
*having the latest and greatest is awesome. (ics and sense 4.0) On my desire I had all the "smooth rosie" tweaks I could find to flatten 3d effects etc. Speed was more important to me. Because of this I do NOT mind that we are missing 3d effects that the S and X have.
Make the move Dude, you'll Love this phone if you liked the wildfire.
Sent from my HTC One V using Tapatalk 2
I just got it last friday and I love it.
Better than My nexus S and that lame zte avail.
I understand you are not first to an android phone. So to answer your 3rd question first - Wildfire is NOT a competition for One V (in all regards). And question 2, yes it is better than what I thought it would be. and finally to question 1. It will surely depend on what you intend to do with the phone. If you are looking to buy an everyday phone, One V will be a good option (I am on stock ROM)

HTC One (Dual Sim) Europe vs. Nexus 4/5 ?

Hey there,
when I first went for android I bought the HTC Desire HD and absolutely loved it. How ever my next phone was the Nexus 4 which I loved even more. Fast updates, a lot of 3rd party development (Kernel, ROM, etc) and very cheap.
How ever, today I read that the HTC One M8 DUAL SIM will come to Europe. This is very handy for me as I carry my private + business phone 24/7. Now my question is:
How is the HTC One M8 holding up compared to the Nexus 4/5 in terms of 3rd party development?
For example on the nExus 4 there is "Franco.Kernel" which seems to offer A LOT of improvement and testing and I absolutely don't want to miss a few of its features (for example screen color calibration). The "only" kernel I saw on the HTC One M8 was faux kernel. For ROM's I saw that Paranoid Android is also avi on the HTC One, but is it also as good as on the Nexus 4/5 ?
Android Revolution HD (the ROM I used on my HTC Desire HD) surely is still a very good ROM but based on the older Android version. So I would prefer PA.
Also I am reading a lot about t-mobile or verizon HTC One M8. Is there any difference to the european version ?
Thanks
