I'm running miks 3.0 ROM every time I go to the market and i search something or try and download something it says error connection time out what does that mean and how can I fix it....

Does it happen on WiFi as well? Try going to settings> apps find the market and clear cache and data for the market. Reboot and try again. That fixes most market problems. If that doesn't do it, use titanium backup to uninstall market updater. (Make backup first) then go back to settings > apps and uninstall updates, reboot and try again. Uninstalling market updater will keep the market from trying to auto update if its a particular version you are having trouble with.

Sometimes a simple battery pull does the trick, it basically does a soft reset. A lot simpler and would try that first.

Maybe switching ROMs or re-flashing your current ROM will work. Give it a shot, backup your apps of course.

Are they apps that you have ever had installed? Try installing an app that you have never had installed and see if that works. If it does, then use a file explorer (I use astro), and see if there's anything in the folder titled ".android_secure" (without the quotes of course) on your sdcard. I actually had this problem before, and there was some left over app data that was interfering with the installation I guess
geez was hoping this would work but I just checked my astro application and checked android secure and all directories are empty. also this is a problem with applications that I ready have that need to be updated and brand new applications I am downloading from the market... I just get a triangle with an ! in the middle of itfor each application that did not successfully install... and this is a brand new problem haven't done anything different been running the newes t fresh for months now

What is your memory situation?
Froyo apps2sd ? A2sd ?
GO into recovery and clear cache and Dalvick cache.
Try wiping the market data this happened to me couldn't update or install anything and it worked

Did you install your previous apps from the market or did download apk's then install them? Try Settings>Applications>Manage Clear market cache and data that might work like the other person said. Check your memory. What rom are you using? Try backing everything up then go do a factory reset and then setup up your google account that's what I did when that happened to me months back and seemed to work. Hope I helped
i search n searched, i cleared market data, flashed the updater zip but it still forces close when i click a app, or click on my apps, it says process com.android.vending has stopped unexpectedly, dont know what else to do
What Rom are you using ?

I'm having a similar problem. After the 2.33 update, it FCs when I chose "My apps". I tried downgrading to several different versions, cleared data/cache, wiped cache/dalvik, but no joy. Now, after I press "accept" on initial start, it FCs. Any help?
Thanks.

Update: I used TiBu, wiped everything again, still no joy. I ended up deleting the Market app from Manage Apps. This left the /system/apps version of Market intact, but unavailable to launch. I rebooted the phone, the /system/apps Market became available in my apps list, and it worked. It then automatically updated to 2.33 again and now all is well.
I had similar problem with my htc evo with cm7 rom after flashing a google add on. As soon as you clicked maket it would try to open but then close right away,I tryed to wipe market data didnt work. Did as you sudgested and wiped catch and dalvik catch and reinstalled rom and the previous add on and no problems after that. Thanks
Question I already had a add on flashed after installing cm7 and tryed flashing another one over the other add on. Is that why I had problems with market?
The main reson I tryed flashing the second add on was After flashing the first one I did'nt have a voicemail app. The voice mails would come in a text with a link to hear the message.
Does anyone know a way to get my voice mail back? Thanks
I keep getting "force close" when i try to change my ringtone on cm7 stable. Does anyone know how to stop the force close?
try a reboot, or reflash the rom
thanx...im gonna try that. ill let u know what happens

Use ROM manager to fix permissions.
I tried that and still Nothing

Then I would do a full wipe (cache/dalvik/data/system/boot) and reinstall. That should def fix it.
You can back up apps with Titanium and launcher settings with ADW (or whatever launcher you use) and your setup afterward should be minimal.
I bought Rom Toolbox because i read u can backup and restore apps without problems but thats not the case with me. I backup all the apps fine then i would go on to flash xROM now i wanna restore the apps.. but when i do it always hangs on a random app every time. I can restore each app individually but never batch restore...also for some reason it wont restore data like my dolphin browser i have some bookmarks and stuff n i restored with rom toolbox and it restored the app but not the bookmark n stuff i had on there. Does this mean im doing something wrong? Or is there an option i need to turn on.
Nope, I had that very issue. My guess its a app bug that they haven't fixed yet

Oh so im not the only one with this issue... hope someone can shed some light on this.
Been thinking about purchasing the app.. Free version works fine for me but from what I see this could be a deal breaker.. For now anyways since I do batch install with the free version with no problem.

I tried out the free version and same issue.... idk whats going on....
Just used an older version and it works fine

I occasionally have that problem with titanium backup with a random app, but never any issues with Rom toolbox..
Ok could having both tb and rom toolbox be the cause? Or should i try an older version? If so which one?
Ok i found out Rom Toolbox backs up my app but not the data. Now when i batch backup data for some reason it hangs at a random app... also when i wanna batch restore app + data it hangs also. If i try to restore a single app it does that fine but it won't restore the data with it. If i try to restore the app with data it just hangs... so I'm not sure what's the problem.. tib does not have this problem but i heard its not good to restore data on ics with tib. Anyone else experience this?

go to titanium back up...when you back up apps...it asks you...app only...or app + data... and it does the same thing will hang up on a random app...
Just did it and it did not hang unlike rom toolbox which hangs everytime.
I had to go into system settings -> Applications -> Development and check "USB debugging". Rom Toolbox wasn't restore apps before, but is now restoring them after I checked this option. The description that pops up when you check it says it allows apps to be installed without the users knowledge.
Rom Toolbox uses silent restore in it's batch mode so you don't have to tap "install" and "done" for each app that's restored, so USB debugging is important.

I had the same problem, and USB debuggig worked for me, so thanks! Great advice!
Also, I'm on a Cyanogen based rom and I had to disable "verify ADB installed apps" to get it working...
I'm planning to do a complete wipe of my phone because of a few issues I'm having with it (random reboots, apps force closing, etc.). I was wondering if a fresh reinstalling via the Play Store would be better than restoring my apps via Titanium Backup or if it actually even made a difference at all? And if I did reinstall the apps through the Play Store I assume the only way I could get the settings, etc. is if I made a backup and just restored "app data" with TB or is this just the same data that I already have on the internal SDcard that doesn't get wiped after a factory reset?

I always do a restore using TB without any issue. But in your case with some apps FC. Is recommended a complete clean install from Play.
And the apps data is the one which get wiped when your make a factory reset.

I'm no expert, but I always just reinstall from the app store. I figure a clean install is probably less trouble. The only conceivable drawback that I can see is if you have apps that you have paid for, but I ASSUME that would be synchronized with your Google account. Every time I flash a new rom I sign in (after I set up my wifi and my apns) and go to the play store (takes a few minutes for market to change to play store) click menu >my apps and there they are , all current apps (that came with rom) and every Google app I've ever had. Just be sure that the rom you flash has gapps included or you will have to download and flash proper version of that as well.

I have used TB to do batch restore of all missing apps + data every time I have flashed a new ROM. It's always worked great for me. The paid version will auto restore, but in the free one you have to press accept for each app as they are restored.

I always restore through google play that restoring with tb kinda like starting fresh on new roms plus I can play all the games over again

Thanks for the tips guys. I think what I'll try first is to restore with TB and then any apps that force close repeatedly I'll just uninstall and re-download from the Play Store.
