So, I apparently hard bricked my KF while re-rooting after I got it out of another brick. I ordered a factory cable from SkorPn and that didn't even work. The good news is that Amazon is sending me a replacement. I plan on rooting the new one as soon as I get it.

I found a guy that repairs hard bricked phones and soft bricked phones. If you heard about him cool. if you haven't here you go. No more sweating and sobbing.

I recently had a scare and my phone would not turn on! nothing no power. when i plugged it in my computer it said QHSUSB_DLOAD
So it was definitely a bricked phone. This guy fixes that! Lucky I exchanged my phone in because i had a 30 day exchange.
Please be careful I know i will next time.

Ok so I have the 1st gen kindle fire and it seems to have a charger port problem of some kind so amazon is going to replace it (a month out of warrenty)
but the problem is its rooted with the play store and several other apps no custom rom or anything . I need to know if i need to unroot before i send it back and if so how ...
It wont take a charge and will only turn on when plugged in and even then it only stays on for maybe a minute then turns off so how can I unroot or should i just say the heck with it and send it back rooted??? will I be charged ?
anybody have any past experience with a similar situation????
I don't know from experience but my suggestion would be don't send it back to Amazon rooted because the act of rooting usually voids any warrenty. It's possible they wouldn't replace it because it is rooted.
they made an exception to the warrenty being out by a couple months and they know its a hardware issue. can't factory reset because the battery wont take a charge. battery wont take a charge there fore i cant plug into a computer to unroot either
this sucks
My Usb died this week and now I'm sending it back. I never mentioned it was rooted but they're still sending me a replacement anyway.

I had the same USB port problem. They sent a replacement. A week later I returned the broken rooted unit. I never heard anything further from Amazon.
Good luck,
The Don
Nice. I'm sure part of their standard procedure is a clean wipe and flash of the factory image.

Also rooted and claimed warrenty
I had the same problem with mine and I just let the battery drop so it wouldn't turn on anymore. Now amazon would have to put a new port on in order to get it working.
I bricked my KFHD 8.9 by accidentally flashing FFF. If I buy a KFHD that has a broken screen can I correct my problem by swapping out the motherboards?
Or is there someone or somewhere that would look at it for me. I am done tinkering. I've learned my lesson. I think I may just have a fried bootloader, but not sure.

Instead of what seems like a technical endeavor, why not just contact amazon customer chat support? If your kindle was or is registered via amazon, you could get a replacement by sending yours back.
Kindle has a 1 year warranty. I wouldn't worry about the invalidation.
hi there. I have somehow managed to brick my fire tv that had rbox cwm mod on it. I have tried numerous times to repair it using the alt-printscreen-i method without any luck other than the unit rebooting to indicate keyboard is recognised. I just get a constant white amazon logo on boot up. This is a u.s purchased fire tv that I own in the uk. was just curious to see if anyone of you clever folk out there would like to take a look at the unit and see if it can be recovered for me before I throw it out
am willing to post with the idea if it can be fixed I'd obviously pre-pay for return postage.
anyway, just thought I'd enquire as I've given up trying

Does it connect to network? Wireless or wired (preferable)?? If it does, you should be able to communicate via adb?
I had better luck getting into recovery using the back key and right direction simultaneously on the Fire remote.
I had a similar situation where it would boot to a grey screen and not go any farther. I was finally able to get into it with the above method.
If he did a factory reset then adb would be off by default.. Via screwed.. Did the same thing. Is a paper weight now
As there is the possibility of hardware access to the mmc we never have a full brick.
If nothing else helps, read the thread about hardware rooting.
Get a backup of an other Fire TV if you don't have one of your own.
Make the hardware connection to mmc and restore the backup.
Thanks for the great advice, unfortunately I am in the uk and never done any kind of soldering before or used Linux so unless I'm lucky enough to find somebody who can access the mmc for me and do the fix it seems I'm out of luck obviously if someone out there would be willing to help me out I would fit the bill for all costs and postage both ways

Ok, so I'll try and make this story short. We sold our *like new* Firestick TV on Ebay, the buyer then forced us to refund it by opening a case with Ebay lying about not receiving one of the cables. Ebay froze our money in Paypal and then force refunded it (we had no control) when tracking showed we got the package. The item was not the one we sent, it was a well used unit with a scratched up remote and damaged box. Amusingly, the cable the thief/buyer stated he never received was sent back as well. Ebay didn't care. Guessing the buyer ruined the one he "returned" trying to root it and then kept our good one, working the system and forcing the refund with Ebay's BS "Buyer Protection" policy.
Anyways, I have this Firestick now that when powered up will only display the white Amazon logo but will not advance past that. No firey splash screen like the good one we had and no other activity no matter how long you leave it. I have successfully hooked this stick up to my laptop with the USB power cable (from the micro port on stick to usb port on computer) and I can get adb to recognize the device. Before I proceeded I wanted to know what you guys thought about recovering this device, as I can use it on one of the kid's TVs. I was thinking forcing it into recovery mode and trying a full factory reset? Is there a way to flash the stock firmware back onto the stick sideloaded through adb like I did my android phones if reset doesn't work? Should I just trash it?

Do you know what firmware version was on before it dis not boot?
If its on any rootable version you could try the windows version of Kingroot and or Kingo root.
Ive had success with both bringing back a few fire sticks.
Its worth a try if nothing else.
Sorry, I never was able to fix this issue and I finally gave up and threw it out. Helped my OCD and Anger Management issues since it pissed me off every time I thought about it, heh.
