Hidden service menu radio settings - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

So I was messing with my ion and went into the hidden service menu using *#*#4636#*#* and under Phone Information there is the Set preferred network type drop down.
Might be interesting to see if setting this to something other than LTE has an effect on battery life.

I stumbled on that too, but I couldn't change the default radio settings. Did you have any luck messing with it?

Nice find!
Ordered mine tonight! $49.99 from Sony was too good to pass up! Hopefully ICS isn't too far off! Where did you all get yours?

Maybe there's more to the phone than what we know of

Will need to be rooted first. Very soon my friends, very soon. eb

Once we can get root (and hopefuly unlocked bootloader somehow) it will be SWEET.

Just a matter of time my brotha. eb

You can count on att to delay that process as much as pos I might add.

Also, soon as root...ICS(if not before). I've been running it and "S" roms on my x10 for months now thanks to FXP & other fine minds in the Sony/Android comnunity. Rest assure the ion will not be excluded from such attention. earbrain

Glad to hear it. I just need root and will be happy (love the stock build sony has done) but I know for the dev community an unlocked BL will be terrific. Already such a great phone. sony's 2012 line is just awesome.

Hey, couldn't agree more. I've worked w a lot of different phones and there's nothing like the Sony UI. I've trying to simulate the S interface since it came out and can't wait to have the full package. Shouldn't be long for root, that's prob all Ill need ta tell u the truth. A rooted stripped-down version of the stock gb rom outa scream anyway. ICS will b cool, w its truly ready that is.
Sent from my X10i using xda premium

UL BL shouldn't b a prob long as there are no hidden att surprises regarding kernel, shouldn't be that big a deal either way really. eb

Youd probably have more luck finding help on AT&Ts forum. Im assuming you're using the tmobile phone on their network?
The only thing I can think of is to check your APN. Not sure what at&ts should be but im sure you can find it with a quick search.
Sorry I cant be more help. Good luck!

How did you leave it blank? Whenever I delete the default and save it resets to the default again.

I believe one is for LTE and the other is HSPA+
Sent from a True Android Device
Wap.Cingular is hspa+ only thing with this phone even switching to that apn its drops signal a lot I believe because it's continuously trying register on the network as lte.

your apn settings are wrong.
Well I used the ones a user on here posted and I get great speeds. What APN settings do you suggest?

Check your apns, but also, if you're usually connected to WiFi, MMS won't send unless you clear the MMS.apk cache. Not sure why this is, but I've tested it multiple times and it seems to be the culprit and solution.

T-Mobile US vs T-Mobile US LTE

I'm wondering if epc.tmobile.com (T-Mobile US) is better or is fast.t-mobile.com (T-Mobile US LTE) better?
I'm in an area that gets the DC connection. Using the epc APN I get a download speed of 11662. When I tried the fast APN it dropped to 5726.

I think it may depend on your area? At work I only get HSPA+ so either option is the same for me since niether gets LTE.

This device doesn't support lte so there's no reason to use that apn. Besides, tmobiles hspa+ is about as fast and gives better battery life. As lte matures that will change, but for now it's true.
