As the the topic name says.. is it worth buying nowadays, i can get it for a pretty cheap price.
If you can get it really cheap why not? lol, i mean, it's a good smartphone. pretty good actually. obviously you must be aware of its limitations.
Only if you're going to root it and get into custom ROM's.
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
Obviously there are newer phones right now! But really desire has been a really nice smartphone so, if you don't care for the latest games you'll have a perfect phone!
IF you can live with 150-200MB app storage (which is the biggest problem on the Desire for me personally, as I don't like app2sd for several reasons)
... and you don't care about the reasonably small screen size (which is what I like very much on the Desire)
... and you don't care that the phone doesn't have a front Camera (for skyping and alike)
... AND you can get it really cheap, why not.
As MidnightDevil said, it's a good smartphone. Not the quickest one anymore, but I like it
The Desire is probably one of the best low budget Smartphones you can get nowadays. Last time I checked you pay around 50€ for used ones.
Like Jestor said, if the limited internal storage isn't a problem for you (app2sd is working very well with a fast SD-card), it's probably worth the money.
And it's faster than most recently low budget phones.
I'm using a One S now but my girlfriend still has a Desire. I still miss it, the New phone is nice but not everything is an improvement and I would still be happy with a Desire and the price they are selling for here is well worth it. Definitely need to root it and change h boot for more memory though.
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using XDA
The trackball of the desire is still great! Still worth buying in my opinion.
It depends what the price is.
I can get a desire (used) for about £90 of a HTC One X for £450.
Its a great phone for the price. I've had mine for 2 and a half years and have enjoyed using it. I've been tempted by OneX and S3 but have decided to stick with my desire for a while and buy a nexus 7 tablet instead (£159)
My desire is running ICS smoothly so I'm happy
You have to know that You have not that much space to install Apps. As another User said...round about 150MB...
But if You use a custom Rom with root and an other recovery You can partition Your SD-Card as ext3 or ext4 and u have enough space for your apps.
I have a Desire, too for 2 years now and i'm happy with it.
I'm using ICS and it runs nice.
I would buy it if You can get it cheap.
if it's cheap, buy it!
it's worth about $150 and is still a good phone

Hello great peoples of the Galaxy Nexus. I own and just purchase a HTC Sensation. After seeing the Galaxy Nexus drop to 399$ unlocked, I just can't help my self! Here's my issue, I'm about to buy a home and thats a big thing by it's self and I don't need to be spending money if I don't have to, but man 399$ that's great! So, It's not about money It's about the bang for the buck! Now, I own a Sensation witch is a dual core as well as the Galaxy Nexus. I also own a Nexus S so, I do know about the pure Vanilla smoothness, but come on guy's, please give me some good advice because I really need it...thanks!
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats Audio using xda premium
$399 for the Galaxy Nexus is like buying a Lamborghini Reventon for a $100.000, in other words is very cheap for what the phone actually does.
The Galaxy Nexus costs around 600 bucks here where I'm at.
It is great value for money, but seriously, if you don't need it, don't buy it. Spend your money on useful things.

You are so right! But do you think the Sensation and the Galaxy Nexus are the same level CPU/GPU wise???

Or sell your other two and buy the galaxy nexus. You may even come out on top.

Yes, sounds like a good compromise. Regarding your other question, I think the CPU of the GNexus is quite a lot better than the one of the Sensation. Didn't look it up though.
Hi,
I own both...The HTC Sensation is not a bad phone but it starts to get "old".
And the Sensation is not verry good compared to the Gnex:
The Sensation isn't smooth, fluid and fast as the Gnex even with ICS and custom ROM/kernel,when I use the Sensation then Gnex and vice versa...OMG!!!
Even with a stock ROM/kernel the Gnex is better on many points mostly if you look in UI.
Sense is nice but it bloats the phone, even with a de-Sense ROM or CM9 it's not faster, smoother than the Gnex.
So no the Sensation and the Gnex are not at the same level for CPU/GPU,you can overclock it (the Sensation) you will not have the same level of UI...
I like HTC,less Samsung but fore these two phones the Gnex is the first.
Ressells your Sensation and buy a Gnex
Priorities are priorities my friend. Once you get that house and got done with settling in I promise you this phone will be cheaper on ebay or amazon NEW. google has set the mark now competitors have to beat it. It's the free Market so just wait. And besides when you DO get done with your stuff you will have enough time and money for the new quad core phones. This. Wait until the market stops reeling from Google's announcement yesterday and compensates for the price drop. There is no rush especially when buying a home is your main priority, believe me I know.
So. I've got a friend who tonight just offered to trade a 32gb HTC One X International for my AT&T 16gb Galaxy S3. I've already got two friends saying it's a good trade, and I'm inclined to agree because of the Tegra 3 and the LCD screen. Just curious to see what anyone else thought and if they'd give a thumbs up or down.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Yes its a good trade. Tegra 3 and 32 gb, but you will NOT get LTE with the hox, is this a deal breaker?
Also the battery life on the hox is a lot less than the s3, but if rooted there are a couple of roms that utilize battery use very well.
Another good reason to trade is the latest sense, its brilliant.
Check the hox thoroughly, make sure its a perfect runner before you swap.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Don't now about circumstances in us, but here in Germany its not good, better to sell your galaxy s3 on ebay or Craig list and buy hox, it'll give you some extra bucks

Check what your network uses. GSM or CDMA. If you haven't, go read some reviews. I've been debating getting the one x international myself but I've read the battery life is god awful.
Been holding out on getting a new phone since I wanted one with a decent physical keyboard and other specs. Since HTC decided they don't want to anymore and I love sense its hard to look at anything else. Can't stand AOSP stock look or touchwiz for sure though personally.

Your out to date, mate. The battery life with last stock rom is pretty good. With 4-5 screen on time hox can live for a hole day. Gaming will cause some battery drain, bur even playing 1,5hrs Sega virtua tennis my phone gives me 3hrs screen on time.
P. S. : typing on 4,7 display with swiftX keyboard is such a pleasure after some time it collects your type of lexicon and it becomes really hard to use something other than that (ok, full qwerty is still nice on PC, but everything alse kind of suxx)

Well, the Nexus S still has a pretty good dev community.
Even though Google dropped it from the official 4.2 update list, there's already custom ROMs for it.
Overall, I'd recommend this over the DHD or HD7
im on the sensation XE and i am pretty happy. full s-off, decent rom development. free sim unlock and fully running jellybean.
I think u shouldn't buy something from HTC (One V same hardware as DHD and its actually 3 years old) and because of the miserable build quality of htc phones im really pissed off from my Htc one X
Why the Nexus S not the GNex? in germany the galaxy Nexus cost just 20 bucks more i think u should buy this phone it's really great!
I personally switch to the Nexus 4
Same I would go for the Nexus 4. In the UK the Nexus 4 is £279 for the 16 gb. For the specs that is a big deal!
Thank you guys all of yo,as a matter of fact i got the best offer for nokia lumia 710 which is WP phone so i will be selling my wildfire for sure and buying lumia
Thanks again
Cheers
One thing you should keep on mind that wp7 devices will not be updated to wp8 whereas android phones van be updated to latest version even if the manufacturer stops updating so if you want to buy windows phone then buy only wp8 else you will be stuck forever.

Think you'll find everything you need there.
In my opinion, the phone is perfect in terms of build quality and performance. It has quad-core processor and that Tegra 3 chipset makes it wonderfull for hardcore gaming. However, that 1800mAh battery brings all those things down. 720p display and quad-core with that battery... If you use it with 3h+ display on you will have hard time making whole day with one charge.
But don't get me wrong! The HOX is decent phone and amazing for entertainment. I just wish it could have more juice like HOX+

I upgraded to sense5, change the cover from black to white.it looks new & i didn't feel that this device is going outdated. cause the 4.7 inch screen is the perfect size for me & even u can see HTC One go on with it. still, the quad-core tegra3 with 1gb ram having very good experience in games. i can wait to see the next generation after S4 or One. not going to change neither one even i got extra money.

My Desire is still running good after so many years, but i think it really is time to upgrade. But I am not sure what to choose: Xperia Z or S3 Neo?
I wanted something from HTC, but it's either too expensive, either to weak(specs).
Also Ive bought a class 10 32GB card, so no nexus 5..
What would you choose?
Between those two here I would chose Xperia Z2 or Z3 because I'm not a fan of Samsung (besides S2 which is pretty good). But you can try also LG G2 or G3 which have good specs or even try Xiaomi MI3. These chinese are doing a great job with this phones lately!
Good luck!
Get HTC desire 500 or sensation or evo 3d.
