My GPS is borked. I have TEP and insurance. I was wondering if there was a way to get a new phone without having a refurbished one. And i do not want to pay a deductible
Should i go in with my phone soft bricked or just say GPS doesnt work?
Pretty sure you have to pay it. Make a appointment they might fix it

How did some get away without a deductible?
Take it to a real sprint store not a 3rd party one. Make sure you are on a stock un-rooted rom, explain the issue and if its jot something they can fix you will be ordered a replacement device. That should be a warranty covered situation, no cost to you.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
way more than likely tho you will get a refurb. good luck. but do not soft brick it.
They give refurbs for this device now?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
ya I got a refurb back in december. the sprint employee who gave me the device said he didn't think it was. but when I looked in the epst menu it said the phone was reconditioned. so ya.
****. How was the condition of the refurb?

I agree with above . Put a stock from on there . Unroot. Definitely a warranty issue.

Oops, I bricked it trying to change partition sizes and I'm not getting to the downloader. I'm looking for recommendations for JTAG service. There's a shop in eBay that will do it but if there are other considerations or recommendations, I'm all ears.
Just by a jig or send me your phone.

I just got mine back today, works great and JB miui installed flawless. They were quick too. But only do it if your device isn't being recognized in device manager. And make sure you have all the proper USB/ADB drivers installed... Anyways just search "mobiletechvideos" on Google. They have a ridiculous amount of positive feedback.
Good Luck!

Thanks, I wasn't sure about mobiletechvideos, the search I did here returned posts that seemed to be getting old. The replies are much appreciated.
Mobiletechvideos only wants $30 for JTAG service on a G1, hopefully they will combine shipping. It's $160 for a digitizer replacement on an HD2. There's another shop that will do it for $50 for parts and labor. Any thoughts on that or would that be better asked in the HD2 section?
I went with mobiletechvideos, got the phone in about a week later. Turned on and everything

When my phone was hard bricked a jig would not even make the phone come on. The phone needs to be repaired via JTAG.

Ops for malaysia jtag service is here http://sinartimurservices.tk
I wound up using the guy from eBay, LV Repairs in Henderson, Nevada. It cost me $40 plus shipping it to him. He flashed the stock TMO ROM back on the phone and was back to me within a week.
I have several phones that need to be repaired and I am very satisfied with this guys work so far. If you are interested click the link below or just search for SGS2 JTAG.

Hello everyone, my GS2 is hard bricked because I accidentally flashed an I1900 international ROM on my T989 and I chatted with Samsung and they emailed a shipping label and such since it's under warranty. Is there anything I should do to give me added security to them not finding out that my phone was rooted and flashed or can they see that since my phone is hard bricked?

If you can't get into recovery or Download mode, there's not much you can do. If you can, I would flash the "Download Reset" to reset the download counter to 0 and make it seem marginally less like you've modified it.
Thanks for the quick reply, I can't get the phone to do ANYTHING at all no matter what I tried even a jig didn't get a single response from the phone. I have read on here that people have done something very similar to what I did and Samsung repaired it for free and someone from Samsung told them not to flash roms on it lol.

Yeah, if you can't access it at all, there's not much you can actually do to make it any less obvious. Maybe tape a $20 to the inside of the battery compartment. Lol.
ahahaha well hopefully if they find out and decide to not repair it under warranty they will tell me instead of repairing it and forcing me to pay.

As what I know, they dont care if you installed a custom rom on it or not. I think you will be ok. Do they charge you shipping fee? I request a warranty exchange from Tmobile, and they charge me 20$.

No the lady said it's under warranty so she emailed a shipping label and all I did was drop it off at UPS today. Hopefully they fix it and I get it back without paying lol. Learned my lesson to read twice before flashing a rom also need to clean up my ROM folder.

I am saving my upgrade for the S4 that is coming out in March. I was taking the phone apart to mess around with it and after I disconnected everything I didn't think the vibrator was glued down and I thought it would pop out but I broke the ribbon that connects it lol.
They sent you the same phone, but fixed right,? How long did it take for them to fix? I requested warranty exchange at tmobile store, and they sent me a refurbished phone.

Hey guys,
I am having an issue with my phone. I had CM10-M2 running on my phone and I didnt like it that much because I missed some of the stock features so I decided I would flash the foxhound 1.3 rom that just came out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1708371 that one.
I followed the instructions and did everything that was recommended.
The phone turned off and now won't even go into recovery or anything. Just a black screen.
Please help!
ps the phone is on Rogers and is an i747ma
Thanks,
Zach
Edit: I dont know what this means but when I take the battery out and plug it in the red light comes on but still nothing else

If I cant get the screen to turn on at all should I be getting a USB jig or getting JTAG service?

Is there literally nothing I can do if the screen isnt turning on?
Odin isnt recognizing the phone but when I plug it into my computers it stills chimes that something has been plugged in. Also when I connect it to a power source without the battery in, the LED turns red.
Any tips?
Thanks so much,
Zach

Welp ****. I took it to Rogers but since I bought it off of kijiji they couldnt do anything. It was bought on October 2nd and they said I couldnt even send it for repair because it wasnt registered to me.
I called Samsung and they said to ship it for a repair but even if they can't repair it, they couldnt replace it. The lady said she would have to tell Rogers to replace it but Rogers already said they wouldnt.
What do?

Did you actually get it from the Rogers store? Because when you do they can issue replacements but when you buy it from somebody else they said that they couldn't do it.
Update: Got JTAG servicing in Toronto (at mtechservice). Took 10 minutes, no soldering, and everything is back to normal. No more stupid mistakes and a lot more reading. Thanks for the help guys.

Seems like you should research more before flashing roms. If you find out how to fix your phone be more careful next time. If you aren't sure always ask in the Q&A section. A comment from a user can save your phone.
Hey Question did you even try a JIG ? that is the only thing that will get you into DL mode when soft bricked

OK SO I TRIED TO FLASH THIS ROM FROM THIS THREAD http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2115775
IM USING A SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 FROM T-MOBILE
NOW MY PHONE IS TOTALLY DEAD, THE SCREEN WONT TURN ON, THE JIG WONT PUT IT IN DOWNLOAD MODE
AND NOW WHEN I PLUG IT INTO THE COMPUTER IT ASK ME FOR THIS DRIVER " QHSUSB_DLOAD "
PLEASE HELP ME :crying:
Link doesn't work. Sounds like you already know what you did. So you should know its not fixable, by you. Jtag Google it.
Link takes me to i9300, i9500 forum for a ROM. Yep its hard bricked. You flashed and Intl ROM onto this phone. You can send it into Samsung or to mobiletechvideos.com and its 60$ to JTAG it. Versus how much Samsung will charge you.

Don't go through your insurance, your deductible is higher then Jtag will cost, and it's wrong to even go that route, since you did it not T-Mobile or Samsung.
good point

An insurance claim isn't wrong. Insurance covers accidental damage and you pay the deductible for a replacement. Trying to get a warranty replacement for "unexplained failure" would be wrong. I still don't advise an insurance claim though since it costs more than getting jtag repair.

Yea, you need JTAG. And you will be happy.
I did the same thing on mine several months ago. (I have flashed many many ROMS and couldn't believe I had done that.) I sent mine to MobileTechVideos.com. He does magic there. Had it back within 1 week and it was like my screw up never happened. Well worth the cost. You can get a JIG from him too for around $6.
Use mobile tech they are 100% square dealin guys!
I had mine done two weeks ago all new again like nothing' happened.
You get an account options to expedite service and message box with progress updates
I wouldn't deal with anyone else
These guys are almost the "set in stone" go to guys for jtag repair.
