My PC XP Pro Sp3 won't recognize my Xperia Mini Pro U20I. Is there a way to update my phone to Android 2.1 with out up date using pc companion. I have a SD card reader so i can transfer my files to my 16 gb card. I have formatted the and partitioned with mini tool and i have rooted the phone. When i try Flash Clockwork Mod recovery my phone is not there and it's shutting down my phone and i have to take my (bran new) battery out and put it back in

firstly uninstall PC Companion restart PC then download last version install it and restart PC again now check if your PC will see the phone activate usb debugging
also disable firewall (just for the moment do not leave your PC with firewall inactive)
check if Windows Firewall is activated and disable it for the moment
a collection of custom ROMs for your phone here
unfortunately I do not know a link for stock ROM ..

Drivers
Tried that and my pc still does not recognize my phone. Are there any drivers that
i can download

It would go ! maybe you have some problems with OS on PC ? try on another computer did you ?
or reset to factory:
Settings > SD card, USB Mass Storage & phone storage > Factory data reset > Reset phone

done that
I've done that and it still wont recognize my phone. Maybe i need usb drivers or my usb cable isn't working but it does charge my phone. I bought it off Amazon

activate USB debugging on the phone then connect it to PC and from console/cmd.exe enter this
Code:

to test if PC connection/cable works did you ?
(sorry but I forgot to ask about this)
I'm sure there is a solution for this problem ..I hate problems..

error
Tried it and i get

operable program or batch file.

I think here is a problem...
It means
1.maybe path is not set
2.you do not have adb installed
I will assume you do not have adb tool so install Android SDK
then look for adb.exe in the location of sdk folder it can be ~\Program Files
or C:\Android\android-sdk look in \platform-tools folder for adb.exe
now open cmd.exe in this folder and enter "adb devices"
previously activate USB debugging on the phone
you should get an answer like
"1234567890ABCDEF devices" or some like this
now PC Companion should see your phone
if not restart PC and phone and try again
check installed apps on phone do you have a firewall on phone i.e. avast! Mobile Security?
what about installed applications uninstall tools/tweaker apps

USBDeview
I have installed USBDeview and my results is
USB Device USB Device Unknown No No No No 4 21/06/2012 21:59:48 21/06/2012 21:59:48 0fce 2138 1.00 00 00 00 USB\Vid_0fce&Pid_2138\4

I bet this is final step at least
to add adb drivers do like this
Connect device to PC
Enter Device Manager
Locate and expand Android Phone/ unknown device in the right pane.
Right-click Android Composite ADB Interface and select Update Driver.
This will launch the Hardware Update Wizard.
Select Install from a list or specific location and click Next.
Select Search for the best driver in these locations;
un-check Search removable media; and check Include this location in the search.
Click Browse and locate the USB driver folder you just downloaded (extract .zip file)
Click Next to upgrade the driver.
also look here something like this
on some phones adb drivers are included with sync software (PC Companion/ Kies etc) in your case you need to download as a separate package it seems...

What am I missing......?

So I recently reformatted my computer and returned my phone back to stock. I now cannot ADB to it, I'm running Windows 7 64bit.
I've downloaded and installed the Java JDK, Android SDK, Samsung Drivers (32bit and 64bit) also tried drivers directly from Samsungs site.
Under device manager it shows they are installed correctly, my phone is in debugging mode as well. I don't have anything in my device manager that shows I'm missing a driver for any device.
One thing I have noticed... is in device manager I seem to remember seeing an "ADB..... something" or another.... I don't show that, but I do see my device listed, just not ADB in front of it.
Another odd thing is when I try to mount my SD card, windows doesn't pop up with a removable disk drive.
I'm going crazy... any suggestions?

When you say mount your SD card, I assume you mean from within your phone? In which case, your phone is not recognizing properly, and your SD card won't mount when the phone is connected by usb, correct?
Well, you claim that the software is set up properly on the computer and the phone so it should be ready to interface... Here's a few suggestions I can give from this point:
1. Try all your computer's usb ports
2. Uninstall and reinstall all Samsung software and Device Manager Drivers
3. Try a new usb cable
4. Try a different computer (to determine if the problem lies within the phone)
4-1. If a different computer has no luck, boot into download mode (1 + power) and try reflashing your phone if possible
Odin did the trick! Thank you good sir!

Its a good chance that its a cable problem. Also got in Settings>Storage>[Menu]>Make sure 'MTP' is selected. You can try PTP as well I guess.
If you need to transfer file for emergency purposes use 'Airdroid' for the moment. I think you can use 'ES file explorer' but that would be a little more complicated.
cable work fine... i think some setting im missing or driver in my computer...

Download the WugFresh Nexus Toolkit. It has a setup for drivers, maybe that would help. You can also try adb push/pull commands to transfer files via usb.
Go to : settings >> Storage >> USB computer connection , then check the option you want ( MTP or PTP )
in some roms i was not able to connect my device till i uncheck USB debugging form Developer options menu

I had connected n7 to winxp at my work computer without installing latest wmp-****. I do remember unpacking wmp-installer then manually installing some libs from it's dirs, but I do not remember if I had to add n7 vid&pid to some inf file. I will try and write some guide
MTP wintout installing WMP11
Hi,
This is just another guide how to install driver and access nexus 7 2013 in windows XP...
Get a WMP install for winXP
Extract it by using command:
Code:
wmp11-windowsxp-x86-xx-xx.exe /C /T:[full-path-to-dest-dir]
eg.
Code:
E:\_TEMP\8\>wmp11-windowsxp-x86-xx-xx.exe /C /T:e:\_temp\8\wmp11\
Go into extracted directory, we are interested in files: wmfdist11.exe and umdf.exe
Install them, one is User Mode Driver Framework and other one is "media framework"
Go to
Code:
%windir%\inf
( eg.:
Code:
C:\WINDOWS\inf
)
Make a copy of file wpdmtphw.inf and open original one in notepad.
Find section [VendorModels.NTx86] (or [VendorModels.NTamd64] if you have winxp 64bit)
At end of section add line:
Code:
; Nexus 7 2013 LTE
%GenericMTP.DeviceDesc%=MTP, USB\VID_18D1&PID_4EE2&REV_0228&MI_00
Reboot your computer. Unplug also your Nexus, also switch off USB Debugging because of that you will see two MTP devices and you might try install MTP drivers for debug (which fail, or windows will yell with code 10...)
Hook up Nexus and when windows popup about installing drivers, choose that you have driver and the location point to search set to
Code:
c:\windows\inf
, click next, windows might complain that this driver is not intended to use with this device, so give win a slap and wait patiently until windows install driver
Windows might install drivers twice, just remember to point to windows/inf directory or directory with google usb driver http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html
---------------
After almost a year I noticed I made a hell of mistake , There should be MI_00 (MI stands for Media Interface 0) not MI_01 (MI 01 is for ADB ). And There is no need for 1st line ( USB\VID_18D1&PID_4EE2&MI_00 ).
I am terribly sorry for committing such basic error.
I already fixed those error in this my "guide"...

Help GNex has no OS and won't connect to a PC!

Windows 8.1; but had same problem with Windows 7 computer.
USB device not recognized
The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned. And Windows does not recognize it.
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported
problems. (Code 43) A request for the USB device descriptor failed
Tried using WUGS Toolkit to install drivers, not happening.
The phone charges via usb port with no problems
On top of that, daughter wiped phone, there are no ROMS, or usable backups.
I can get into TWRP Recovery, but it can recover what isn't there. Tried factory
reset, still nothing. No matter what I do, I get No OS Installed! Are you
sure you wish to reboot? If I do reboot, just get GOOGLE screen with lock
symbol.
Without being able to get a computer to see the phone, I can't get a ROM to
load.
Maybe change USB port with cable? But I don't want to do that if the problem
is software related.
Any ideas what I can do???
I just went through something similar like this last week, what a pain in the A$$.
Not entirely sure if this will fix your issue, but hopefully it'll help some how.
I ended up having to manually install galaxy nexus driver so I could sideload a ROM since I formatted my internal storage to test out this new F2FS BS... Anyways.
LOL
First you'll need to download and unzip "universal naked driver 0.72" Google it.
Now, without your GN connected open device manager and THEN when you plug in your GN to your PC you should see it pop up in the portable devices section.
AND also under other devices there should be "galaxy nexus" right click on it and click "update driver software"
Click "browse my computer for driver software" select the unzipped universal naked driver folder, click next and click "install this driver software anyway"
Now it should show "Google galaxy nexus ADB interface" in device manager under Samsung Android Phone.
Reboot GN into bootloader
OR
recovery (if you have a ADB supported recovery eg. TWRP 2.7.0.0, and enter ADB mode)
Now there are 2 ways to do flash an Android OS, some may find 1 easier then the other:
download/install "Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit aka NRT v1.8.3.sfx"
Google it.
Run NRT and it'll instruct and guide you through the steps required and whatever is needed to continue, eg. Select device, download TWRP 2.7.0.0...ETC.
Or
Download/install ADB setup 1.3
Google it.
I found this method a little more simpler.
Open the folder you have your ROM/gapps zip files saved on your PC, hold down shift key and right click on the folder, click "Open command window here"
Now in the command window type in "adb sideload XXXXX.zip"
XXXXX = COPY/PASTE the ROM file name. Eg. 20140615PA443RC2.zip
Press enter and now it'll flash the ROM onto your GN.
Repeat the same steps for gapps/kernel zip files.
Reboot your GN and enjoy.
BTW
I'm still loving running ParanoidAndroid Jellybean 4.1.2.
Its like pain in the A** to install phone/adb drivers in win8/8.1
I had a similar issue with my gNex a while ago but i had the drivers installed in my pc so it wasn't that difficult.
Why don't you try to install this toolkit http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal.../gnex-toolkit-v11-1-0-drivers-backup-t1392310
When you run the toolkit, it may ask you to select your device, build number etc and also about installing device drivers.
Install the drivers through it and then connect the device in recovery (twrp) mode.
it should detect it and then you can push files/roms to sdcard (internalMemory) using adb push or the built in options in the toolkit.
then flash the rom and you're done
and i recommend using win7 or xp or vista for doing this because the driver installation in win8/8.1 is a bit difficult compared with other previous windows versions but there is still a way to install drivers in win8/8.1 its just a lengthy process
All the best :good:

You have to go to the device manager, double click on the "unknown usb..."
a dialog box may appear and then click on the 'driver' tab.
There u may find update/install driver button.
click on it and another window may open.
then select browse my computer for driver software and go to the respective folder where the drivers are.
then click next and it may install the drivers.
if you have installed the toolkit then you may find a folder in the toolkit's installation folder which has drivers in it.go through it if you want :good:

The thing with windows 8.1 (atleast x64) is that they have changed the way adb drivers are recognized (or not recognized). You might have to:
1) In windows device manager find ADB Driver (or unrecognized hardware corresponding to the adb driver). Right click and select "update driver software".
2) Select "Browse my computer for driver software".
3) Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer."
4) With "show compatible hardware" checkbox ticked, two drivers should be shown.
(a) Android ADB Interface. and (b) MTP User Device or Composite USB device.
5) Select (a) above and click Next.
6) Device should now appear.
Always good to use the default adb drivers from google for this. (https://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html)
Hi marcusflint, Sorry to ask the obvious but was USB debugging enabled in developer options?

[Q] [BootLdr] Computer not seeing Phone.

I am new to android, HTC One VX being my first phone ((Got it like Last year as a gift iirc)).
Using Stock rom and my os is 8.1 pro x64
I am trying to unlock the bootloader.. I went to HTCdev, followed the directions for unlocking the bootlader.
1. Got the Android SDK and installed
2. Got the HTC SYnc Manager for the drivers.
3. Got Fastboot and moved it to where the ADB .dll file is.
I get my phone into bootloader after making sure USB Debugging is enabled, then I plug it into my computer. After a few moments, Windows pops up with USB Device is not recognized. I check Device Manager, it shows "My HTC" under unknown devices. I manually point the thing to where the W8 x64 driver is , and it says the driver is up to date. Bring up the Property info of the device, this is what is showing int he text box,
Code:
A request for USB BOS descriptor failed
Just to make sure, I navigate back to the ADB folder, bring up CMD there and type in
Code:
adb devices
. No device was listed despite my phone being connected to my computer. Tried it with 3 different cords, front and back of my computer. ((USB 3.0 ports.))
I put it in one of my USB 2.0 ports and the issue persists, the device status shows
Code:
A device which does not exist was specified
.
Is there anyway to fix this, its quiet annoying, Apparently doing clean reinstalls of everything isn't going to fix it for me.
