Is it possible to let's say insert a micro SD card adapter into the nexus micro USB and write to the card using the gnexus? My idea is to have a case to expand storage and battery.

I am having this problem I can mount everything from my mouse to my usb. I bought an sd card adapter and put my sd card in the adapter, but didn't work. I know the adapter is not broken because I have tried it on my computer and it worked just fine

Ahh that explains it. Search ntfs in the play store and pick one you like. You need an app to mount the ntfs partition.

That's strange.. it most likely is ntfs formatted though. I'd try USB otg manager from the market. Your USB port isn't damaged at all is it?

It's not damaged at all. The weird thing my observations are that there is not enought power getting to the adaptor. When I plug the adaptor in my friends Galaxy nexus running on stock rom the light on the adaptor lights up just fine, but mine just blinks for like a fraction of a second and doesn't connect. I'm also thinking it's the rom or it needs a new kernal ???
You need to check whether the kernel you're on supports otg.

Weird.. I've only seen power with hard drives that use the USB power. Can you post the exact make model of the adapter? Also, do you have a powered USB hub you could try? As in connect hub to phone, plug adapter into hub. That way the adapter most certainly is getting the power needed.
It also might be ROM kernel related.

I have tried everything... Changed the kernal. I literally tried every single kernal. I changed the rom, from jedi mind trick to cm9 stable to koodo. I might just buy a newer one. I tired the usb hub and still not connecting. Thanks for everything btw. I am still looking into this because it's something that I think that needs to be done. Still boggles my mind that it works on the Galaxy Nexus but not that S2

While I haven't encountered any issues with sd adapters on the t989, it sounds like you're having either a power problem or that particular adapter isn't playing nice with your kit. You can rule out power by plugging you usb otg to a powered hub and testing with a high powered device (usb drive for example) and should that work, then trying the adapter. If the adapter works off the hub, it's likely a power problem. If not, the adapter hates you and loathes samsung, and wants you to by a nexus.
While not common, the adapter could be asking for a full 500ma even though it doesn't require it or is having some other isb negotiations headbutt with your gs2.
you can also try popping open a console terminal and checking what's happening under the hood. you should be able to see in the output of dmesg when you connect the adapter and what the kernel is saying about it, which will help point you in the right direction.

I already have one but whilst it works fine with my Nexus 7 it doesn't work with my Galaxy S3, when I plug it in and also my Samsung portable HDD and stickmount pro it appears to recognise the HDD but i cant view my files so I'm thinking it must be a case of the OTG cable isn't compatible with the Galaxy S3, so I'm wondering if you folks can recommend one for me that works fine.
Thanks

EDIT
The OTG cable works now with my Galaxy S3, just out of curiosity I flashed Siyah kernel again as I remember reading something about ntfs, plugged the HDD in, clicked on stickmount and low and behold I can see all my music, photos, files, etc so I'm delighted the cheap otg cable I bought on Amazon works with both my Galaxy S3 and Nexus 7

Hi, I was wondering how to update to GB27 without using a USB cable as my micro usb port is broken. I have an sd card, so that is most likely the preferred option for me.

AFAIK, you can only do over the wire. If you need a fix, either hit me up or go to Google and look up mobiletechvideos.

Worst comes to worst, buy a MicroSD expansion for your Pc to be able to read and write to the SD.
There quite cheap if you look around.

Hi
I don't have yet the new Nexus 7 but I'm waiting for it's availability to get one. My plan is to use it to view photos I do when I travel. For the Samsung Tab2 I have an USB kit to mount the card reader and so view/edit the photos. Is there something like that to the Nexus 7?
Thanks in advance for your replies.
A USB OTG cable should work for that.

I use the transcend usb 3.0 card reader with the otg cable and Nexus media importer. All of this and I can view/transfer my pictures.
