OTG Cable recommendations - Galaxy S III Accessories

I already have one but whilst it works fine with my Nexus 7 it doesn't work with my Galaxy S3, when I plug it in and also my Samsung portable HDD and stickmount pro it appears to recognise the HDD but i cant view my files so I'm thinking it must be a case of the OTG cable isn't compatible with the Galaxy S3, so I'm wondering if you folks can recommend one for me that works fine.
Thanks

EDIT
The OTG cable works now with my Galaxy S3, just out of curiosity I flashed Siyah kernel again as I remember reading something about ntfs, plugged the HDD in, clicked on stickmount and low and behold I can see all my music, photos, files, etc so I'm delighted the cheap otg cable I bought on Amazon works with both my Galaxy S3 and Nexus 7

I do not know the details but look into stickmount. I've never used it but it sounds like what you need.

Two PS3 controllers via USB?

I just purchased for my S3 the OTG cable in the amazon store labeled: "SANOXY Micro USB Host Mode OTG Cable Flash Drive SD T-Flash Card Adapter FOR Samsung GT-i9100 i9100 Galaxy S II 2 GT-N7000 Galaxy Note" (sorry new users can't post links)
I got it so I could hook up my PS3 controller to play emulator games (via John NES lite and GENPlusDroid) on my unrooted verizon S3. If I purchase a usb splitter, would I be able to use two controllers for two player games?

You should be able too I also just purchased 3 of them. But I think you have to be rooted for the cable to work anyways. Also downloads stick mount by chainfire for free from the play store. It will help when using the cable for mass storage devices.

The s3 already supports flash drives without stickmount or root. As for the two ps3 remotes, I have tried to do this but they both register the buttons for one controller. This might be written into ICS unless you buy the yoypad I think. I tried the otg to a USB hub with two controllers with no luck, also two controllers with sixaxis app no luck, also one with six axis app and one with USB otg and still both register for one controller. The USB hub did support keyboard and mouse at the same time though so its got to be the way ICS is programmed for only one game controller.

Verizon phones can't be easily rooted, so that guide doesn't help.

USB host doesn't work

Guys, I bought a USB OTG cable today. Nothing special, but my GNexus doesn't want to work with me. No matter what I connect - USB mouse, keyboard, flash drive [w/ StickMount by Chainfire] - Nexus doesn't recognize it. Tried wiping and reflashing my ROM (CM10, today's nightly) but it doesn't help. I use Air Kernel, but flashing franco.kernel or using the stock one doesn't work too. It looks like there's no power in Nexus' micro socket. However, when I connect a USB hub with external power source Nexus starts charging. Any ideas?
Best,

You say that when you connect the Nexus to a powered USB hub, it starts to charge. Does that mean you have the USB-OTG cable hooked to the Nexus, then some sort of gender changing adapter to hook it to the USB hub? What happens if you plug the flash drive into the USB hub while the Nexus is "charging"? Does the Nexus continue to charge and you get access to the flash drive???

I just have a USB hub with a socket for power adaptor - it's nothing special. However, when and I connect anything to my hub while Nexus is "charging" it still doesn't recognize this device. I'm outta ideas.

Darn. I was hoping you had somehow magically discovered that the phone can charge itself while still being in USB Host Mode. That'd be absolutely fantastic!
Try it on stock JB, CM10 isn't even alpha. Plus, make sure any custom kernels you plan on trying support it.

I've tried CM9 stable a few moments ago - doesn't work.
Your cable is probably defective. I just bought mine, works great, but in reading reviews many people reported defective cables.

Just bought the second one - still doesn't work. Why?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1092493.html
Check out that link to see a potential cable problem.
The roms [cm9] and kernel [stock] should work for you.
Is the cable you are buying specifically stating usb otg on the package? If not, buying 2 cables from the same store of the same type won't change anything.
This is what works for mr.

The second one is different - I'n sure it's not the cable problem. Something with my software? I doubt it. Hardware problem?

I seem to get quite a bit of opposition to this but as you'll see there are links included..one from Samsung and if you look in the manual that came with phone, it also talks about the OEM chargers. Try disabling NFC then try yo charge. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841584

Do you know someone else with a Galaxy Nexus, to test the cables and ensure they do actually work?
I've tried them on HTC One X - they DO work :/

It was suggested 2x in the thread to go completely stock [rom + kernel].
You stated trying CM10 and CM 9, as well as stock kernel, but you never say if you tested stock/stock.
Mkay, I'll try the stock JB tomorrow.

Accidentally thanked you.
What I'm trying to say is, AFAIK stock kernel doesn't support OTG. So try going stock then flashing a kernel.

Will this work with the Nexus 7

I found this Micro USB OTG to SD Card Reader For Samsung GT-N7000 Galaxy Note i9100 S2 SII 2 and was wondering if this would work on my rooted nexus 7?

I have a cheap otg cable that works perfect for my nexus 7 and gs3. And by perfect I mean perfect. I wanted to push the limits with it on my s3 and n7, with out any apps or putting any settings in I ran a 4 port USB hub with a wireless mouse, wired keyboard and an 8gig pen drive from both the nexus and the galaxy. Both can read a 1tb hard drive too as long as it has its own power supply. So far the only I can't get to run nicely is the HP printer my partner has but yeah I got mine for $8 with a free case, and everything runs as soon as its plugged it.
Good luck!!
PS
If you can get a right angle one. I regret not getting one it would be easier to use and hide then.

The old Nexus 7 didn't support Slimport or MHL.
MHL and Slimport are two competing standards (incompatible between them) to deliver HDMI video via the micro USB connector. First gen Nexus 7 did not have any of them (so no video out whatsoever). Nexus 7-2 implements Slimport (looks like Google chose this side). Many smartphones support MHL (the other standard). Your MHL adapter will not work on Nexus 7-2 or Nexus 4.
