Hey everyone,
Does anyone know if there's a way to have the lockscreen pop up even when security is disabled? I use Unlock with WiFi at home, an app which disables my PIN when I'm on my home WiFi and the way it achieves this is by temporarily disabling security. An unfortunate consequence of this is that the screen with the ring/quick launch icons as well as AOKP's weather/calendar info also disappears. Any ideas to get just this screen without security? Thanks!

So I'm not understanding. I use that app and when I'm out of the house I have a PIN, when I'm at home, I have the ring lock with unlock and camera options.
Could you elaborate? What lock screen are you seeing when you're on home WiFi?

That's the weird thing...none at all. It just goes straight to my home screens. When I go to Security settings while at home (with Unlock with WiFi on), because PIN lock has been temporarily disabled, I cannot specify any lock screen settings.
By any chance would this be a ROM issue? Are you running AOKP?

Hmm, I'm thinking so... I'm on stock 4.0.4.
I'm at home with WiFi right now and when I go to Settings > Security I'm able to select what type of unlock I want. I can select "none" and it does what you describe, and I can go back to "slide" and it goes back to normal. Disable WiFi and it goes right back to a PIN. Enable WiFi it goes back to "slide".
Seems like a mix of the ROM and maybe the app not working properly?
Do you have Exchange mail setup which are you device administrator?
Thought maybe that the unlock with WIFI app interfers with the minimum requirement of the device administrator.

No Exchange or any IT restrictions at all and I'm admin. I'll post this in the AOKP thread and see if I get any luck there. Thanks!

hi. i'm the developer of Unlock With WiFi. you can make the slide to unlock screen appear while the phone is unlocked. while your phone is connected to wifi and unlocked, go to your security settings and choose "slide" for the lock screen type. if you can't change the setting, then it may be a rom issue. i use CM9, and there's no problem.

Thanks. I hadn't realized I needed to enable the slide lockscreen since it was listed under "security" (I don't see it as being secure in any way). I figured everything under security meant some form of passcode=/ Up and running now, thanks for the awesome app btw!

Hello,
I just installed Airdroid and works perectly when phone isnt locked but at the time you lock the screen, it stops to have any communication with the Airdroid webapp. I have not realized this behaviour on my preivous owned Galaxy S. Does this happen to anyone?
Thanks!
If you are using the pattern lock - then this is normal.

Setup a task (Use tasker/llama) when you're connected to home wifi to remove your lockscreen.

Wow, I always want to do that besides of airdroid. Actually, I have been messing around with llama but cant remove the lockscreen, I will check tasker anyway. Thank you!
Hmm from further testing, even if I don't have a security, as long as the screen is off AirDroid has problems...
I got the same problem here... only with nexus 4. It works perfectly with others phones...
Switch to another kernel maybe?
Sorry for my bad English.

You could be running into the Nexus4 wifi bug. Try the recommended fix in that thread and see if it helps. I've been having problems with VOIP over wifi while the phone's sleeping and the patch helped but didn't fix the problem completely. Maybe it'll work for you.

This. Remember the patch works best with 4.2.1, 4.2.2 still has issues with the provided fix.
Ahh, thanks all. It seems like it's not me but it's Google's bug they haven't fixed yet. I hope they get this fixed soon.
Thanks!
I use pattern to unlock my Galaxy S3, but my son played with my phone and accidentally input too many patterns and make my phone only can be unlocked by signing into google account.
My wifi and mobile data status seem OFF. I am thinking maybe it makes my phone unable to connect to the Internet and sign in to gmail. I tried to call myself using another phone but the phone did not let me go to the home screen to turn on the internet connection.
Is there anyone know how to solve problem? And if I need to factory reset my phone, how can I do it?
I'll be grateful if there is someone who can help

Is there any way to get a hotspot toggle widget to work on the AT&T optimus G pro?
I do have a plan that allows tethering and my phone is rooted, however the toggle widget that worked fine on my note fails to initialize the hotspot on this phone (though it will disable it).
nope. Had my question up for a few days with no good responses. Hotspot might grab someone easier than WAP though so who knows.

No luck, I get the same error as I did with hotspot toggle which is what I normally use.
The specific error is a white triangle with a red exclamation point which says "Tethering Failed Tethering is not allowed for downloaded apps"

That's what I have at the moment, though you don't need any app to do that, you just add a shortcut, shortcut > settings shortcut > mobile hotspot, but it's a pain having to do 2 steps for what should only take one.
Is there any root method to disable the at&t tethering plan check? I'm betting that's the only thing that's causing it to not work and if I can disable that check it should work fine.
Isn't that what the existing fix does? Eliminate the check?

Ooh, I'll try that out and hopefully I can use the toggle afterwards. It's so annoying that they have it set up that you need to have a rooted phone and change setting just to use a toggle for something I pay for.
That fix is meant to allow tethering without paying for it (which is what I've done) but even after that change I have not found a way to toggle that setting directly. One of those things that may never change without a new ROM....

Hi there,
I have a Nexus7 3G and also a Samsung I9300 running CM nightlies,
now... on the CM (I9300) i use profiles that enables me to have different lock options for the phone depending on WIFI connection / disconnection.
So when I'm out of my home my phone losses it's home WiFi and locks with the pattern and when it sees the home WiFi it goes back to unlocked.
Would like to have the same thing for my nexus device, it is rooted and i have Xposed installed but couldn't find anything that answers this,
Can anyone help me with this?
Thank you very much,
Ronen

Tasker can do that for you for sure. There's a bit of a learning curve though. You can also try Trigger. I've heard that one is easier for beginners.

Tried them both, think Trigger was not able to do it.
I did go with E-Robot free + Secure settings Add on.
Works!

So I found a temp solution on reddit for those of us who need tethering/hotspot working. So far it's worked every time and I am now posting from my hotspot connection on Marshmallow.
Steps are pretty easy, but really annoying since it requires a phone restart every time.
1. Restart phone
2. As soon as it comes up, unlock it and go to Settings > hotspot and tethering
3. Enable your hotspot
4. Profit!
If you do it fast enough it should enable it without the subscriber error. Not exactly sure how fast you need to do it once you restart but I've done it successfully every time even with a lock screen. You can also add a shortcut to the settings if you use a launcher like nova. Enjoy
There is a background process continuously resetting the global setting for provisionong requirement. I'm fixing that in my flash, should have it tonight.

I can't believe this works. Sweet!
Works on s7
Worked on sprint s7
Confirmed working, delay time isn't short( didn't count but i have a long password and didn't rush)
Thanks, I was holding off on updating till a method came out for nonrooted users. Tested and works on my s6.
Are the apns saved on the sim card or on the device?
If its saved on the sim card, cant we edit the apn in a different phone and then put the sim back in the phone?

You need root as the mod adds boot support to handle things. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65921214&postcount=20

Working great this way, Hotspots stays on till I turn it off, usually
On stock it eventually throws permission error...roughly 30 seconds after enabled for me.
I just tried the reboot trick last night. It works, I had my iPad connected to my S6's Hotspot.
History, had the MSL code working in Lollipop since August of 2015. With every update, it broke the Hotspot. I had to turn on dun in APN settings after each update. With the Marshmallow update, the APN settings are not seen in the "edit" settings view.
Will test further, I can live with the slight inconvenience for now. It would be great to have a total fix on this unrooted device.
thanks!
The reboot and swipe immediately to turn on hotspot doesn't work after 20 seconds. It'll tell me I'm not subscribed to the hotspot service. I've already edited the APNs before the MM update and had it working fine. I believe it's after updating the profile and PRL that eventually breaks it completely. Now it looks like I'll have to root to make it work like before or be tied down with USB tethering.

Same problem here, after MM update this morning. No more APN SETTINGS to edit. Trying USB tethering but nothing.
The restart method works fine but only if I remove password for my Hotspot.

I take it back about getting subscription error message. I reread the OP comments about setting up hotspot quickly after rebooting. This time I did it quickly step by step to turn hotspot on and so far it's working for several minutes. Don't wait a few seconds after swiping or take your time getting to the Hotspot and Tethering menu. Do everything from rebooting to turning on hotspot quickly and it may work for you guys.
