Just for my own curiosity, I read somewhere that to get rid of the yellow triangle from flashing with odin, you can use one of the One-Click odin's back to stock to clear the triangle because it will replace the bootloader.
Does anyone know if this applies to just the GB roms and is it just EK30 or will EL29 work as well?

I believe so. But it won't reset your counter. Just the triangle. Triangle away resets both.

Thanks, that's what I thought. It doesn't make sense for a GB user to have to flash over to ICS just to use the triangle away and then back. Plus, some folks shouldn't be anywhere near ICS to begin with.

Peanut! How you doing man. The jig resets the counters too. That's really why I wanted one.

The jig is great. I ended up with a homemade one after purchasing an E4GT from an XDA poster and I use it all the time. However I do keep a copy of triangle away in my gmail box so I can access it anytime I'm away from home and need to get rid of the triangle and reset the counter.

Got my jig off amazon for about 3 bucks when I ordered my case. Well worth it. Just plug it in and BOOM you are in DL mode. Easier than messing with the buttons IMHO.
Anyone happen to know how I can kick off the triangle on purpose? :silly:
For testing purposes ya know...
is triangle away safe, I didn't use it because I didn't want to brick my phone

With ICS its as safe as anything else you have done with your phone, granted you are a flasher. I have used it and its great and only takes seconds. I would say get a jig but if you dont and use ICS this is a great tool as well.

both the same thing, cheapest imho.
As GoNz0 sad take the cheapest.
It's not more then a 300K Resistor that is connected to pin 4 and 5 of the USB plug.
Also, make sure you really need one. Since ICS you don't need one to remove the infamous yellow triangle.

How do you mean? Are you talking about that app that's not 100% safe to use? Or is there now an easier way?

Yes, I'm talking about TriangleAway. I haven't heard about anyone who had trouble with the app - I think the warning is quite a bit exaggerated.

Don't think so off the bat. But you can always flash the older bootloader from Intratech's Official i9100 Firmwares thread then use the jig. Then flash the new bootloader back, but that's not really needed.
Why do you want spend Rs 355 on a usb jig when you can get the same thing for Rs 199 on ebay.in?
Or you can pay Rs 235 for a faster delivery
Here are the links:-

http://www.ebay.in/itm/Micro-USB-JI...8?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item256ee70884
And yes they work with both gingerbread and ICS if you want to get your phone into download mode
In case you want to reset the counter or remove the triangle you might need to flash an old bootloader in order to make the jig work
It takes less than a minute to flash an old bootloader so I dont think that it is a problem really especially because you don't lose any of your data
Please don't take this the wrong way but why do people use this? Is it just to remove the triangle at start up? Or is it to reset the counts for when you bring your phone in for service, which makes it more valuable? I just wanted to understand the benefits to offset any of the risks which are minimal.

It does both. By resetting the binary counter, it removes the yellow triangle.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
How does the binary counter get triggered? I'm new to the Epic Touch and I have been reading all I can. Does recovery flashing, Odin, Hemidall, or all three trigger this? Can the count go up WITHOUT having the triangle show? If so is it a good idea to just use this before you bring your phone in for any repairs? Thanks!
By odining a custom kernel on your PC
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
Just a quick note - You can also get rid of the Triangle but not reset the counter by using a one click. Personally, I don't worry about the binary counter unless I need to take the phone in for service.. Which is never.
Not sure if Hemidall triggers the count, never used it. But using a one click custom kernel or pc odin for a custom kernel will trigger it. I just reset it when I know I've trigger it because I'll forget if I don't..

Works with any one click package, you don't need a specific one click to remove the triangle. If you're on ICS triangle away is simple to use and resets the counter in case of an emergency where you end up unable to reset the counter and need to seek service/repairs.
We are legion, for we are many.

Back when I was on the E4GT, Odin One clicks were the most useful tools I had used. Rooting without tripping the flash counter, and easily going back to stock. My question is, why are there none for the S3? Is it that there's too many changes in the S3 that they wouldn't work, or has anyone tried? I want to root my S3 but I don't want to trip the flash counter since Triangle Away isn't fully working on our device as far as I know. And I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm hardly ever on a computer and the search in the XDA app sucks.

You should double check. If you have installed any of the leaks something has been changed and while you can reset the counter with Triangle Away, it will not stay at zero when you reboot. I have seen this discussed in a few other threads and have noticed it with my own phone.

I'm getting off colored lines across my screen and I'm planning on going to the sprint store to ask for a replacement since I have TEP coverage.
Should I Odin back to stock even though this isn't a software problem? I'm on CM10 right now and my Odin binary counter is also at 1. I really want this exchange to go as smoothly as possible.

Yeah, I would. Smoothly as possible? Back up everything. Even internal sd. Download the un-rooted one-click for Fi27 stock. Run that. Then take it in. That way should ensure you don't have any problems.

I did a nandroid backup already and moved it on to my computer for now. Restoring a jelly bean back up on EL29 won't cause any problems will it?
You should also DL triangle away to get rid of your flash counter

Firstly thank you in advance to anyone who takes time out to help me fix this problem.
I have searched high and low for an answer both here and abroad but I have not been able to find anything that addresses non-stock recovery and yellow triangles.
I have an Epic 4G Touch running CM9 with CWM. A couple of days ago I noticed that my charge port was giving me issues and I had to place the connector in just the right way to get it to charge. Now it has become a large issue where it will barely charge.
TL;DR: I have insurance and need to figure out how to get back to stock everything, remove the yellow triangle (without USB jig) and make it look like the phone has had nothing but stock.
Thank you again!
That's cheating.
Pp.

Why not try a PC Odin One-clic stock restore (FL24) - carefully holding in the connector during the whole flash?

Use your current recovery to flash the FL24 modem and then use Mobile Odin to flash FL24.
Or he could just flash a full stock one click using the SD card and avoid all that stuff...

Depending on which modem they are running...
I'd suggest;
Use triangle away, flash an older official stock tar with mobile odin, (wont matter with current modem since they can be mixed since they're running cm9) then let the ota take it to official latest.
But I'm betting op has done something by now.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions.
PS Does Triangle away really work? All of those "this may brick your device" warnings make me nervous...

It does really work. But there are chances for it to brick if you lose power to the phone. Battery dies, if falls and battery falls out, power button issues. Other than that, it won't brick you. They also put that warning on there so someone can't blame the dev if they did something to f**k their phone up. Its a universal disclaimer thar tells people to be careful.

You're mistaken, to a point.
Flashing a stock will remove the triangle but not reset the binary counter.
Triangle away will do both.
