I can't even get my USB to allow me in now, even with USB Debugging ON??

The first time I rooted I had a similar problem. Even after flashing super-user Titanium would tell me I wasn't rooted.
In the end downloading a different super user version fixed the problem.
Not sure what to suggest for your usb problem though... Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Try getting to dload mode. Flash stock. Retry root maybe

To fix your problem with not getting into your phone you'll follow these directions
http://galaxys2root.com/t-mobile-ga...-to-ics-stock-on-t-mobile-galaxy-s2-sgh-t989/
Then after you do this you will have to put ics back on your phone or just flash a rom that is 4.0.3
This is what you should download download the file and use this superuser I had a problem rooting to.

The root was finally completed in recovery but after rebooting and going into ES Explorer like normal in Settings to set (Root) user, it says not accessable also using the Superuser app from Google Play it says (root failed) but in recovery it said (root achieved and enjoy) so yeah makes no sense also should I just flash the theme I want in and see if that works out (Juggernaut 5.0)?

hi everyone, i messed up my phone, so i had to wipe and reflash the U.S. 2.2 leak 3.4.2 something, and when i try to root it with superoneclick, it just says waiting for device, usb debugging is on, usb connecion is set to portal. any tips?
I rooted mine today. On xda search defy root tutorial. It worked great for me.

Try to use this one here. It is the same one used to root the 3.6.360 update. Takes a few minutes to work so be patient. Might be more than a few cycles through it too. But it worked for me with the 3.6.360 update and for Froyo too.

Get the superoneclick files, but do it without superonclick.
Follow these steps, but change names accordingly.

Simple root!
Easiest way to root is to download an app called Z4root.
Its a one click root and best of all with another click you can "unroot" the device. Not compatible with all devices so it would pay to check the apps website but it works with motorola defy

On the computer must be installed NET.Framework, JDK, Android SDK, thus on the phone in USB Connection select Motorola Phone Portal, enable USB Debugging(settings/ application/ development) in settings. Old version do not work on froyo. After root it must be rebooting a phone. If you can not root, reboot your phone and computer and try again. If the proccess stop on "waiting for device", then until plug in the phone unselect USB Debugging, when you see "waiting for device", Select USB Debugging.
Last version of Superoneclick - is the best solution for rooting our Device, with any FW version. Try to use both exploits (sounds something like: "psneuter" and "reageistcach") - you can chose one of it in the up-right corner of Superoneclick window
Try to reboot your phone, keep it on the debug mode and then root it(SuperOneClick2.1 is recommended!).By the way, have you installed the drivers correctly?
update your SuperOneClick to 1.7
1.8 doesnt work for me

Stop using Toolkits....
If you have a custom recovery you can download a SuperUser.zip and flash that.. this should give you what you want. Or you can download a Custom Rom and just flash that... problem solved you also dont have to go through the process of deleting the stock-recovery.sh that runs and kills your custom recovery.
I already fixed it but thanks for the reply and I should be not using tool kits thatsbfor sure but what do you mean about a custom recovery? How would I install that? So I would install the custom recovery then flash the su file and then flash a new from is this correct?

If you want to find out if your rooted check Play Movies. It will say ur appeared to be rooted and refuse service to the device.
The toolkit is amazing. I don't know why someone wouldn't recommend using it.
CWMR is a emergency thing in my opinion. It saves my butt countless amounts of time. U can flash it with Rom Manager, CWMR touch, and Rom Toolbox.
They are all available in the play store.
The toolkit isn't recommended because people don't learn things themselves. OP go superuser and see if things are given root or denied.

Phone NOT BOOTING UP NEED HELP ASAP

So my friend brings me his gsm nexus and is not loading up stays stuck and loading Google screen but does nothing from there..... I asked him what he had done and he said he went into cwm since he was having problems with his phone and decide to format everything on it sdcard/system/ etc etc etc..... I never done something so stupid before lol So I really don't know how to help him...... any way to be able to flash a stock rom maybe via odin ? or stock anything to get the phone to boot up again ? any help is greatly appreciated....... I could boot it up in recovery mode but since sd card is empty I can't restore any roms or any backups since he seem to have deleted them all
well your friend formatted the /system directory so there is no rom on there. of course it wont boot up.
follow this to go back to stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895
DO NOT USE ODIN.
also, tell your friend to leave the phone stock until he knows what he is doing.

Upgraded to 4.4.2 - Need to root again, please help

Hi,
I just joined the forums this evening. This is my first post.
Basically I want to figure out how to re-root my (2013) Nexus 7 which I just updated to 4.4.2.
I installed 4.4 and had to re-root, of course losing all my settings and apps, having to reinstall and reset everything to my liking.
I have never made a backup.
I just now upgraded to 4.4.2 update, and all my settings and apps are in tact, however, I lost root.
I do not want to re-root and reinstall everything again, so I need help on recovery and steps involved.
I am still unlocked, and I have the TWRP installed as well as SuperSU and RecoveryTools.
Please advise how to make a backup and re-root in the least painful way.
(PS I did use the Wug'sFresh kit to do my rooting the first time around, and am not very comfortable using the SDK etc)
Thanks!
-Mike

Hi,
It is very frustrating I want to be able to keep all my apps/settings and configurations after root, but I don't know how.
I think there is an app that allows you to keep your root after upgrades, but I haven't really figured out which way to do things.
Any pros out there who can help?
Everything is fine on my tablet right now, just the way I like it BESIDES being unrooted.

Hi efan3719:
I don't have the zip in my SDcard but SuperSU is installed, but when I tap on it it says I need root access, and when I tap on Recover Tools > flash TWRP it says "need root" as well..
Should I download SuperSU zip latest file version and copy it over to my device and then run it using my file explorer?
Sorry, I may be confusing I'm still learning this stuff.

download SuperSU from here http://download.chainfire.eu/370/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.80.zip, put it on your device. reboot to recovery, flash the supersu zip. reboot. you should now be rooted.
:/
I have the zip file now on my device.
However, when I reboot into recovery TeamWin no longer comes up it goes to dead android character with exclamation point. :/
Try the nexus root toolkit. It makes rooting very easy with great step by step instructions.

I have that program. I used it to do my original unlock and root.
Can I re-root using that without losing my latest update/and settings?
I cannot boot into Recovery Mode to reinstall SuperSU (which I currently have installed on my system but it won't work when I tap on it because it says I require root).
So I cannot install the SuperSu zip I just placed onto my device.
This is confusing.

Hi,
basically I had my Nexus 7 (2013) upgraded to KitKat 4.4.2 using the automatic (wi-fi) over the air update.
it installed fine but caused me to lose root. no other information was lost, all my apps and settings were the same, i simply lost root.
when you lose root, you are no longer able to access TWRP during the bootloader startup by going into recover mode. it will show a dead Android character.
so I simply connected my Nexus to my pc and (having Wug's Root Tookit and Nexus 7 drivers already installed from my first time rooting) I selected (from Wug's drop down menu - when Wug's program starts up) my build and version.. then it did it's magic and downloaded the pertinent files. (of course you need to have USB DeBugging checked in settings > developer options or whatever..
then i selected Root option and 'install custom recover' check box as well.. and let it do its thing.
TWRP started up automatically during reboot, and did the root.. then my Nexus was all good again, all apps and data in tact, with root. all good.
Hope that helps.

So you're on stock right now? And it is ZVC right? And you updated via updates or LGNPST, right?
If all of the above is correct, ... are you using the KK recoveries?
If you are, then when you flash the ROM you may need to install the flashable SuperUser.
If you're just trying to root and unlock your phone, look in the Development section for the root guide. You must be on stock to root/unlock your phone. If you used Freegee to unlock them you'll have the required recovery to flash KK ROMs.

Ok first off, sheesh on the all caps bro - don't need to yell! lol. I am a little confused though. You downloaded all the files but how did you actually try to root? I'm confused because you say clockworkmod recovery says "error while flashing your device" but it's my understanding that you can't even install CWM without having root access. Can you still get back into your stock? If you can, look at your apps, if you see Superuser or SuperSu then you are rooted. If not, you have two options - use the Framaroot app that you can find in the play store. Install that and use the Gandalf exploit. Option two is to use Fiddy619's Universal root method, just search the general section here and you should find it. I have tried both and both have worked successfully. After that, you need to unlock your bootloader in order to install CWM or TWRP correctly. The easiest method is to install another app from the play store called "FreeGee" and use the sbl unlock method. It will unlock the bootloader and install either CWM or TWRP for you, your choice. If you have any questions or run into more problems just let me know and I'll help dude.
EDIT: @engine95 is much faster than I.
EDIT#2: I type too much, Lol! Also, I haven't used FreeGee in awhile and keep forgetting it's been overhauled - not sure if you even have to pick sbl unlock or it's just become the default.
