Hi guys, the wife has just got one of these beasts.
Am i right in thinking that i need to 'root' the device and install Super Su too, just to gain access to any files that i drag and drop from my computer when the phone is connected via the usb?
If so...is there an easier way of accessing the movies, photos, games etc that i have transferred onto the phone?....surely!
Download a file explorer. ES File Explorer is a good one.

great thanks, downloading that now.
one question though...once its downloaded how do i get into it on the phone as i cant seem to access anything that i have transferred onto the internal 'SD card'
Just download it onto the play store on the phone, then open it and explore the files to find the ones you need.

I'm having a braincramp. Using my EVO, (not my pc) how can I browse my SD Card on my EVO? I transferred some apk files from my pc to my EVO via bluetooth and would now like to install them. Any suggestions?
Download a file manager from there market.
From Team HTC Evo.
Worked perfect using Astro File Manager. Thank you!
i accidentally erased HTC Facebook and Friend Stream, dowloaded Astro, placed apk files on SD card. It has the files and file size for each one. I try installing them, but after the instalation it tells me the installation wasn't done. Any idea what I'm doing wrong and how to correct. Thanks
I'm not sure if Astro supports root read write, try using Android Mate(free) or Root Explorer(paid).

hello everyone...i'm coming from an HTC Evo 3D and just recently got the Epic 4G Touch. My little dilemma is that the phone won't read some things on my SD Card. for example it wont read backups i have saved for some certain*apps and it wont read my docs2go files. they show up when i plug my phone to my computer but not on the phone when its disconnected. i've formatted the SD Card mounted and unmounted and still nothing. My documents show up in the Polaris app though just not in my docs2go. Any ideas?
I'm also new to this whole internal/external sd card thing as well. What I see is that certain apps wont automatically read files located higher than /sdcard, and the external sd card is found at /mnt/mmc or /sdcard-ext for the newer phones. Do you have the same issue when you move those files to the internal storage?
I haven't tried moving files around. How would I do that?

Grab astro file manager from the market. Find the files and section "multi" then hit move. Find the new directory you want then in and select paste

For Real? If so, you either use "my files" app or grab es file explorer and navigate to, and then long press on the file and choose move> move to desired location.
Otherwise, happy fools day...
Yup I was being for real. I never had to do that before. Every time I wanted move files around I just plugged my phone to my comp. I'm one of those ppl that really doesn't root or try different ROMs on my phone not because I don't want to but I'm terrified of messing it up lol
I transferred some game setups in my memory card through USB from my PC. I want to install them but couldnt find file manager or access to memory card.
I just bought my phone yesterday so please explain me in detail if possible.
I apologize if my post is silly or if already you have discussed on this issue.
Thanks in advance
There is no default file manager. Download ES file explorer from play store or any other file manager.
Use HTC Sync's Application Installer.

Where did you place the back up file on your sd card? It should be in a folder called smsbackup. Only then will the device recognise it.

1. Save the attachment you sent to your self in a folder on your laptop.
2. Connect your one x to your laptop and mount as usb drive.
3. Create a folder called on your one x called sms_backup.
4 copy the back up file to sms_backup folder you created on your hox.
5. Go into the messages app on your hox. Click on settings then back up. In back up there is an option for restore from sd card. Click on that. You should see your sms.
For future use a third party app, I use sms backup +, it backs up all my messages real time to my gmail.
Good luck.

Hello,
I was trying few things:
1. Download sound card drivers to my Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, then copy them to USB memory stick. When i tried to install them on PC I got a message that *.exe file is corrupted.
2. I had a Google document (docx) and I did convert it to a pdf file with android app. I was able to open it normally on android device but unable to do iton PC. Same issue, file corrupted.
My memory stick is FAT32, never had any problems with it.
What tha hell is going on? Pictures and other media files works great while transfering, these I mentioned about not.
Please help!

I think I may know what happend, but didn't try yet. Probably I did remove memo stick without taping "safely remove..." and data wasn't copied right. I don't know about pdf files if they were converted good but drivers works fine now.
