Is anybody else getting this error when starting Locations?
I'm on Coredroid 3.5 with Faux 003b10
No sorry can't reproduce that here. Have you tried reflashing Rom (without wipe) in aroma and see if it continues to give that message?

it says your storage is full. Clean out your internal sd card & try again.
Nup...it's not the memory space for sure cos i still have a couple of GB free space. I've had this before on different ROM. Really can't catch what causes it. It works for a couple of days and then i get this msg for a couple of days and give it time, it will start working again....
I guess i'll try re-flashing and see if that helps. Have not tried that.
Thanks for the reply guys.

Absolutely not the problem of memory/storage. Brand new phone; has more than 1.63 GB internal and 18GB external space available. Mine happens every single time I try to start "My Locations"

I woke up today with this problem, I'm on the stock ROM
if this could help, I found that the battery was out at 11 AM though I left it at like 73% at 2 AM and when I plugged it in the charger and turned it off the locations app had this issue
Potential solution...
Hi All,
I had the same thing. Got on to HTC who told me to do a factory reset almost as soon as they answered the phone (they really were completely useless).
However, I powered down the phone, powered it up again, and it worked. I'm assuming that you've all tried that!!
Here's hoping it works for you too.
Cheers.

This afternoon I had around 800-900 MB of free storage in my phone's internal storage. Suddenly in the late evening, I got a notification that disk space is low. I checked the space usage and saw the remaining space is less than 50 MB! I did not use the phone since afternoon except playing Bubble Bash & Doodle Jump. What is more weird is within 7-10 minutes space came down to around 8MB!! I immediately restarted my phone and wiped cache and dalvik cache. This stopped the space auto-decrease weirdness but I did not regain my lost space back, and have no idea where it went!! I am using MIUI ROM at present and will really appreciate if someone can help me without me having to backup/restore my data. Thanks, Abhi.
It shows that some bad apps you installed were silently downloading or expanding something in the background. You have to trace back and narrow down from which app recently you installed caused this memory issue. Otherwise, a clean flash rom would be a good start.
^^Seems logical. However, my data plan expired one week back and I haven't reactivated it yet. So downloading is ruled out. Also, I have not installed any app in the past few days. So I don't get it why this will suddenly happen!! I also checked all the apps' data usage, and it was normal for all of them. Most probably I will end up wiping but I am still dumbfounded!!
Sometimes the data run even if it expired. Not sure how to explain this. Or some trojan/virus self expanding is resides in your system.
Installing anti virus might detect it. I'm using AVG full version anti virus. It scan every files installing or moving around the system or in the sdcard. So far so good..

I deleted some apps and rebooted 2 or 3 times and the problem was solved. But i don't know why.

Can you tell me what were the apps that you removed?
No, I deleted just some of the apps I don't need hoping to get more free space.
Sorry, but I already said it was like a month ago or so.
I can't remember, but it was really strange and weird.
Ended up resetting!! This thread can be closed now!
Hello all I have been using RandomRom hawk eg22 v2 it is smooth except the gps. The gps works for about 10 minutes , after that it goes to searching for gps. The only way to get the gps back is to restart the gps navigation app. I am sure it is something that I haven't done, like reset cache for the gps or something. I am coming from randomrom hawk eg22 v1

No I can try that. Thanks for the response. Last time I tried to flash a different modem my phone was almost bricked. It was the eg22 modem. The modem went through with no problem but my phone would not turn back on. Which odin do you recommend to use? I figured out where I went wrong last time I flashed a new modem , I put the modem file in the pda instead of the phone spot. I flashed eh06 and will try. Thanks

Have you checked out this thread:
How to clear Modem Memory(nvram). (fixes gps and many modem issues like slow speed)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226074
Make sure you read everything to understand what it does and the ramifications of trying that procedure.
Course you can always go back to EC05, GB is still in beta so everything isn't perfect quite yet (though Random has done a fantastic job with it so far!!)

Have you tried running superfreeze??
Try to limit the apps in memory while using GPS; perhaps turn off blue tooth, stop all sync'g. Just to see if maybe something running is hammering GPS after a while.
That is the line I would take; to make sure there is as much memory as possible for it to run.
I know that has to be really frustrating.

Awesome !!
note: while running superfreeze, if you go into settings, about phone, then try to open system updates, it will FC. that is normal because superfreeze has stopped the updates checker from running.
simply run superdefrost, do your update check (PRL or Profile) and then refreeze.
happy GPS'g

I take that back it shut down again today. I am going to try another app . Maybe something is not right with google navigation and 2.3.4. Maybe more luck with something else. Unless someone else has another idea.
It seems to lose gps when the ram gets close to 100mb. Something is eating up the ram.

Yeah thats for sure alot of apps keep opening and running in the back ground. Sprint hot spot is one that continues to open by itself. Something is using almost 200 mbs of the 350 available. Must be the android os. Which rom are you using at the moment. I might have to go back in time so I can use the gps. Thanks

I am using RandomROM Hawk v2. I don't use my GPS that much really; I work from home and mainly drive my chair from room to room so its hard to get lost that way ... hehe
GB leaks have memory leaks, just no getting around it right now.
My fav EC05 ROM was midNight 5.3; there is a ERA Rom based off midNight (I haven't used it; I was looking at it but my battery life has improved a great deal this weekend to where it is liveable)
If you want to use midNight 5.3 I can give you a special GPS fix that was done for it that REALLY worked well; I was a tester for it and man it made a huge difference.
Just PM me if you'd like to go that route.
Hi Just updated the firmware to 4.1.2 kernel 3.0.31-1000653 and firstlt can see any changes in the new update and secondly the battery is draining much much faster than before. Can I get the previous version back? or factory reset and back up? Thanks for any help.
I don't have the answer to your question but I thought I would share my experience with the update to 4.1.2 I received a few months back. I also noticed a faster battery drain. However, on investigation, I found that it was something called gpsd using the extra juice. This was samsungs find-your-phone-service-thingy that I had been testing.
I switched it off and the battery problem vanished.
Try to find out what is causing the problem before you try to fix it.
Good luck

Hi Thanks for your help. Lets see if it is under "Location Services" and maybe it is "Location and Google search" ??. I cant see anywhee else it could be that is pulling the juice out of the battery!!. Have you noticed any changes in the the firmware ? I can't see any changes at all......beats me lol. All the best and thanks.
I experienced the same issue after a firmware upgrade, and I fixed the problem by performing a factory restore.
Getting rid of it.

I got rid of the find-my-phone service by opting out. If you go to settings-security-remote control and log in to your Samsung account you should then find and option to switch it of. If it's not on you will need to find another suspect
Good luck.

Thanks to all you guys for your help. What I did was a factory reset as one user suggested and the battery life is now back to normal. Cant figure out why they produce a firmeware that drains the battey?. Now I have to send it to Samsung under the warranty as when I insert the micro sim card it shows as "No Sim Card" if I wedge a slice of thin carton above the sim card and inside the slot pushing the sim card down harder onto the pins below it works OK, so is needs a new sim card tray or the shop has not cut the micro sim properly !. Again thanks for you help.

It kept my phone "awake"; after disabling this option, my phone "sleeps" properly again!
In the screenshot you can see exactly where I disabled this option!
No deep sleep when charging. Always 1600 in cpu spy when charging
Hi guys!
I switched to the Note 2 from my S3 since 2 days. But I was wondering why it is very very hot when I charged it. So I installed cpu spy to check the problem. When I didn't use the phone it was going quickly in deep sleep but when I charged it, it was alawys in 1600. I have already reseted it 2 times and now I have no apps installed. So please can you help me. Thanks in advance.
Ps: I didn't rooted it and I have the latest XXDMB6
So what happened today, I was just managing some files on my HTC One in Windows. Deleting a few files and then all of a sudden the progress bar stops responding when I went to delete a folder. Not sure if the folder matters or not but either way, I clicked 'cancel' since the progress bar wasn't moving and I figured I would just delete the files in there later.
Unplugged phone and all of a sudden, there were 0 files on my internal memory. I tried to reboot and still nothing, no files showed up on my internal memory and the storage shows the same with most space being free.
I'm not really sure why that happened but I guess just a warning for anyone else out there to learn from my mistakes.
This has happened to me before on a different computer with a different phone (Galaxy Nexus). Both have no sd-card and use the MTP protocol for connecting to Windows. I think there might be a bug in the way that Android handles that with files but I can't prove it.
Any tips on data recovery?
I don't think there's anything you can do. Sorry bud.

Will do, once I am able to get the data off. So far I was able to get the memory block off and I can 'see' the deleted files but I can't quite recover them just yet. I am going to try a good recovery software.
I've tried a couple of things but so far it doesn't look too good for most of my files.

That's what I was following. I was able to get the raw mmc block off the phone and I started the process some 20 minutes or so after the incident. So there shouldn't be much over written. However, following those steps and using the same application, I can't seem to get any of my wanted files.
My next step is try something like extundelete.
Sorry to hear

I just don't seem to understand exactly what went wrong so it's very difficult fix/reverse. I tired multiple different tools and different ways but never got proper files back.

Same thing (maybe) happened to me, posted awhile back, closer to this things release. A factory data reset is what brought it back. I still struggle to understand how this phone mounts storage, but the reset cleared it up. It has not happened again, but I quit fooling around in /shell/emulated/0 and switched to TWRP to manage backups.

I'll give that a try tomorrow and try to keep usage to a minimum today but I fear it may be too late already since I record ~3-4GB worth of video yesterday after I gave up. I had no other but to record.
Yea, it seems it didn't work at all. Oh well, at least I know for the future if it ever happens again what to try.
Hello,
I recently used a data recovery app on my Galaxy Nexus to recover some deleted photos. The application worked a little too well, recovered about 16,000 jpegs and pngs, saving which I ended up with around 350 MB of disk space left on my phone.
When I noticed my phone getting slow, I deleted everything, did a factory reset, a clean wipe and installed a CM 11 nightly - nothing helps. Though on 3G, apps take forever to get downloaded and installed. I need to sit and wait on the installed apps to open, even making a phone call is a dreadful experience now.
Is there anything that I can do to get my phone back to speed?
Not sure if it'll work for you but this really helped fixed lag issue for me:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grilledmonkey.lagfix
If that doesn't work, I read before that when reflashing a ROM to first factory wiping 2-3 times in a row.
Also seems to helps with lag to allows keep >4gb free storage.

Thank you, Isajoo. I tried this tool now, got an error saying that some partitions are not supported. Anyway, I have tried it on the partition it supports, let me play around with my phone for a while and see if it has helped improve anything.
Btw, after deleting everything, I have around 6GB of free space...
I guess its working! Though its still lags while taking/making calls and unlocking the screens, the downloading/installing and many other operations are considerably faster now.
Thanks a ton, mate. I was absolutely clueless before...
