It comes with 4.0.2 that is wrong for a sealed package from what I know, and the bootloader is open, what do you think guys? also the battery was in the device, it still had the GALAXY NEXUS screen protector, and back door protector.
I very like the device, but does the earpiece speaker suppose to have such bad quality? I mean it like a little buzz in it, not that the music speaker is any better :crying:..
I would say if the bootloader is unlocked & the battery was in, that's not a brand new unopened / unused device

The ear buds that come with the package are horrendous. Definitely get better quality ones. A no EQ G.Music with Skull Candy ear buds sounds fantastic.
Where did you get your Nexus from?

Flash a New Kernel ( franco ) , will speed up a lot
But it defiantly a new device, I always remember the smell of opening a new phone, and again the box was sealed with the Samsung sticker, maybe it was repackaged only, as it comes with EU charger, here in Israel most shops sell it with US/UK charger, possible? I mean maybe they buy a stock, then buy a stock of EU chargers, and repackage them with a new sticker? also why 4.0.2?..anyway it in another town, so I will not go there just to replace it, also I got a new extended battery, so I don't care, when a new NEX out, I will sold mine as used.
They don't ship with unlocked bootloaders. Dead giveaway of non-new device. Also the battery never ships in the phone already.
Some people have reported getting refurbished units with unlocked bootladers, but I haven't heard of anyone getting one like that on a brand new device.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
It for sure not refurbished, all accessories are sealed, only the battery was in the device, also in the package where the battery suppose to sit, the little tab was flush, so it was never been there, anyway as I said, it in another town, I got 12 moth warranty, and anyway if something go bad, than not with software, for me it will be easier to sell it on eBay, and not pay for fix
Regardless, it's not sealed new.
Atleast it saves you some trouble you have an unlocked bootloader lol...
Swyped From My Sensation.
Not new that is for sure. You'd never get a new device with unlocked bootloader. Did you pay full price?

Accessories can easily be resealed or even taken from other boxes. Also the battery would never be in a _new_ device. I mean as long as everything works I wouldn't make a big deal out of it but I hope you didn't pay full price for it.
Well now that bootloader is unlocked u can root and so on. Also my gsm version came with 4.0.2. And so did my boys after having it for 2 hours got the update to 4.0.4. Besides who cares you will flash a new rom anyways if u are on xda most are based on 4.0.4. And it is weird how u got it with battery in phone and unlocked already. Hey if it works great don't worry bout it
you can probably buy those stickers for the outside of the box to make it look "sealed"
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Yay! for pre-unlocked bootloaders
That's really interesting because you never consented to the agreement form when you unlock your boot loader... I wonder what that'll do to warranty and such (especially if you were on Verizon or something...) lol especially if something from unlocking your boot loader messes up your phone (i.e. flashing a custom rom).
where do u bought it?
What's your guys thoughts?
OK so I am eligible for an upgrade and if you guys like your phone now and you wouldn't buy any other phone if you could. I will order this Tuesday or Wednesday. Just want any last thoughts before I order?

This is not brand new. It's used/refurbished device. Return it. Bootloader is never unlocked. Accessories are easy to replace. So accept it or return it.

Sounds like someone carefully re-packaged it (after using) and it was re-sold to you as a new unit.
Return that sucka.

very expensive though :S
For that price your better off selling yours on ebay and purchasing a new one for yourself that you know will last......
you could try contacting samsung, it could work out cheaper.
this is why i have insurance. while i rarely drop my phone, it does happen. it hasnt yet, but i know i probably wouldnt spend 300 on a new screen. for that i could buy a different 4g phone off contract.... id go and sell my broken nexus.
Some of us here who purchased in the grey market obviously can't get our phones insured. Easier said than done.

What do you mean by grey market? like craigslist? and thats why i said id by another phone, its a sly way of saying that the screen costs more then some of the current 4g phones do. You could literally buy a Razr off of craigslist for 280... http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/mob/2770665120.html
I realize the ability to customize the phone is nice, but not at the expense of a small fortune. if you bought it off contract in the first place that at least what 5, $600 already down, then if you replace screen your in it for $900. Buy a razr or the thunderbolt ... or something, then wait a couple months for the next greatest phone to come out and the price of the parts will come down then the screen can be replaced for cheaper.

Seems like the eBay one is an LCD, not Super AMOLED.
That one in the ebay link has the lcd also, which is why it's so expensive. As soon as the digitizers start being sold by themselves (glass screen only), it will be much cheaper.

When they say it's a LCD, it was referring to the actual part of the phone, the "Screen", and not that the screen is using the LCD technology, the galaxy nexus is only available with HD Super Amoled technology for the screen, unlike the Nexus s that has both Super Clear LCD (i9023) or Super Amoled (i9020), if that what you are referring to.

I think it's the same with all Amoled technology, the screen and digitizer are only sold as one, they cannot be purchased separately.

The glass and lcd are fused together. In order to replace one, you have to replace them both.
No pics? Forum rules clearly state that if your going to post that you have a broken screen, you must also post an accompanying picture for proof of the incident and to satisfy those of us that take pleasure in others pain
all joking aside, i hope you are able to resolve this with minimal damage to your wallet (and ego)
this also makes me happy i bought the insurance option from best buy, though i never had to use it for the incredible, i like the idea of no deducible if this were to happen to me.
My screen is broken aswell (from the inside..) so the glass is still silky smooth on the outside.. and the whole screen is black and i can see 5 veins of broken glass on the right hand side of the phone.
But one thought that ive had is.. the 4G and the 3G versions are very different, seen from the back, will this be an issue if i buy a new screen on ebay?
could check out these guys but i dont know how expensive it is

I'm on Verizon and I got my Nexus for Christmas.. All of a sudden it started getting this massive crack without dropping it and it's normally the only thing in my pocket. Anyways, I called Verizon and (kindly/politely) asked them if I could add insurance late. It took a while, but it eventually got done. I then paid Insurion a $100 deductible (and will pay $6/month for continuous coverage) and then sent me a brand new phone (with free battery and charger). Granted, I still had to pay $100 and will keep paying per month, but at least my phone will be safe from the little things and $100 is small compared to the other option.
tl;dr: Call Verizon, kindly persist and ask for Insurion late, get new phone
Hi Guys.. Im using Samsung Galaxy ACE Rightnow..
I hve planed to move-on & YES to Either Galaxy S II (OR) Galaxy Nexus..
The choice i hve is Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S2 and HTC One S. and the choice is due to my budget.
i know the NEXUS 4 has launched...but as for the news i heard.. LG gona either sell it for above 30k or don't launch it India as samsung did..
The problem i found in getting the Gnex is that,
1. its not yet been officially launched in the India, so no HW & Software warranty.
2. Prob in the GSM Network Getting Locked.
3. lower spec compared to the S2.
My cousin has jus bought GNEX frm ebay las month, n a week before his gsm module got locked while he try to update to 4.1.2..he says like its asking for " SIM Netwrok unlock Pin ".
The cons i hve with the S2 is ..
1. Poor design.
2. No quick android update... the current update of Android is 4.2 & still s2 got just the ICS. Dono y samsung guys forgot their device after selling them..
3. Absence of dedicated notification light.
So pls do help me buying a correct device...
Either GO for the nexus Device or the Samsung galaxy S II....
Thanks in advance...

It is strange that ur cousin got network locked Galaxy Nexus. Normally the ones that sell on ebay are factory unlocked.
I and several of my friends have GNex for past seix months and its like no issues at all since 4.1.1. If only network unlock is an issue you can buy it from reputed ebay vendor, see his feedback. As regards warranty, I have the serve pro thing but I do not know how would it benefit me if the phone develops some hardware snag.
you can get Nexus 4 16GB from shopyourworld.com for about 26k, agains warranty would be an issue.
But in any case S2 stands no where even miles close to G Nex. Galaxy Nexus is "Galaxy Nexus - sheer beauty"
1) I've yet to come across anyone with any really serious hardware problems with the Galaxy Nexus. From what I've read around, there are people who can and do repair hardware faults with the Nexus. Just have to look for them, I suppose. And software-wise, it's almost unbrickable!
2) Again, never seen this issue either. I got my Nexus running 4.0.4, upgraded to 4.1.1, 4.1.2 and now to 4.2 without any issues whatsoever. Just make sure you're buying a factory unlocked piece and you're all set.
3) What lower spec?! Apart from the camera and the microSD card slot, the SII has nothing on the Nexus! The Nexus even has a bigger screen than the SII. And add to that the fact that the Nexus already has 4.2, which the SII will take time to get, and definitely not officially, I'd think the Nexus would be a no-brainer!
gnex has a much much better screen at 720x1080p where as s2 is 480x800p

software wise dont worry at all since it is a nexus, i assume anyways you will root it ( main reason to get a nexus i presume ) so when you are rooted you will unlocked worldwide so not a problem at all
still if you want to check the phone then the best you can do is make few calls and check if everything is working, other than that i cant think of anything

I do owe a galaxy nexus which I bought from US Google play store so I have a takju device and I have always got updates quickly
No problem with that because its of course unlocked
But the only problem with gnexus is it gets way too hot during charging if I keep data packets on or play games for 10 -15 minutes (sometime even crosses 48 degree Celsius Mark)and I am not alone which has got this prob
My cousin has got one from a store in Jaipur and he also has got this overheating prob while charging
I have googled this topic and found that this is a common problem with Gnexus
And this overheating occurs only when I am using my cell while charging
I am on stock but will now consider changing my kernel to under volt my nexus
Hope this will solve this over heating issue during charging
BTW any one with same problem of overheating while charging?

Well, sad day today. A golf ball landed on my galaxy s3's screen. Needless to say, golf ball > galaxy s3.
Called customer service to see how much it is to be replaced, and with my insurance, its a big 166$. Ridiculous.
EDIT:
My brother works at a Radio shack, and they'll fix it for like 100$.
Has anyone used Radio shack before to get a screen replacement? If so, how long did it take, and did they do a goob job?
feet taiserva
Purchase the replacement screen on eBay, watch a video on youtube on the screen replacement. It's easier than you think and wouldn't cost much at all. If your opposed to that I would trust them, it's not difficult.

The 100$ is what my brother said, after looking online it actually ends up to being 329$.
I'm thinking I'll let T-Mobile do it... I don't want to risk destroying it myself..
Kind of sucks though, a golf ball dropped and cracked it as bad as it did, it's at the bottom, like right on the home button, but the crack went to nearly the top of the screen.
Did you check eBay?? I would think they were way under $100 for the screen.

Well I checked Amazon, I have Amazon Prime for free for being a student.. and they are around $15-20.
I just don't want to take the chance that i make it worse than it already is... I'm not good at all at doing things like that, I'd rather it be done by someone who knows what they are doing.
Also, they said I could use a phone from the T-Mobile store until mine is replaced, which is pretty cool..
Understandable you don't want to make it worse than it already is. Try looking for places in your local area, there are repair shops that fix phones and video game systems for a fraction of the cost. Some times on Groupon they have Groupons for say $60 for a screen replacement, that's always another option you could check out.

Yea, I will look around.. But I do like that I can take it to T-Mobile, and they will loan me a phone while it's being fixed. I'll have to odin it back to stock though. Oh well.
Thanks for the input!
Can't hurt to check around. Anytime!
Ontop of having Radio Shack doing it...it will void your warranty...to keep your warranty either have T-Mobile or Samsung fix it.

Well I called the insurance company this morning. They said $150, and that my replacement phone will be here tomorrow.
All is well, atleast it still works so I can use it until the new one comes tomorrow. Glad im getting a new one as well, instead of just getting this one fixed and sent back.
Thanks for feedback guys! :victory:
Well, as new as a refurbished phone can get. Any replacement/warranty phone that congress from tmobile is most likely going to be refurbished. I know because I have one and I'm very nit picky about my phone and always find some small defect with it.

Yeah, I have had that experience as well... Although more often than not, I end up with a busted camera which is more than a *minor* defect...
Asurion sometimes sends out BNIB devices but only if a) they don't have a refurb on hand or b) you've gone through a few refurbs in a short time.
I tried fixing my Nexus One's cracked screen...ROYALLY ****ed it up (just a little too much glue & ripped a ribbon) and ended up wasting $150 even after selling it for parts on eBay.
I would say if you are thinking about doing it yourself and don't have a lot of patience/manual dexterity/proper tools & work environment, don't try.
Also I figure the S3 is probably a lot harder to take apart than my old N1.

:victory:

Yeah it may come plastic wrap and all but it's a refurbished one. Fixing the one you had at least you knew it was ok and how old it is compare to a used one that may bring a host of issues.

Well got the replacement today, was surprised when i opened it.
It came with the phone, a battery, a back cover, a usb and charger, headphones, a new sims card.
I'm wondering if I need to send back my old battery, or just the old phone?

I recently bought a C6503 from a German eBay seller, but it wasn't sealed in any way. More importantly, the phone had clearly been removed at least once from the plastic bag it came in, because there was a dent from the camera on the other side. It had been reinserted the other way around, then sent to me. I returned the phone.
I've now imported another C6503 from phonehouse.de and it too has arrived unsealed - neither the box nor the phone arrived sealed in any way. It mostly looks like it's been untouched. Some unboxing videos on YouTube show sealed versions, others not.
Which was yours? The most important reason for it to be sealed, to me, is because I want to condition the battery before turning the phone on, and if someone has used it before me then there's a chance I won't be able to. Plus, I like new stuff
Was your box sealed? Was the phone sealed in the plastic bag when in the box?
I bought my ZL at Amazon.de and it was not sealed. But I am sure that device was unused. The plastic protector was originally on the phone, also USB cable and earphones were not touched.
I know sometimes the box must be opened to insert local guarantee sheet, manuals, etc. in the box. Sometimes also some local changes are made on the device.
I don't have any troubles with my phone and I am really surprised when I see so many posts where users state their problems. Camera is great, battery life is excellent, scrolling is smooth, really no problems with my ZL, although the package was not sealed.
I got mine from Bell Canada and was sealed with a sony sticker

Interesting.. so far, all the North American phones have been sealed, but those from Europe (although mine's manufactured in China) were not.

Okay, fair enough. Meanwhile, slightly worrying for me is that when I 'first' turned the phone on today, it booted straight away in German and didn't ask me to select a language or any other setup. It all looked new, but this suspects me to think someone else has turned it on before me. I don't know if there's a way I can check, but I was pretty disappointed by this.
I'm wondering however if it's a German retail thing, because this is the second order I've had from Germany (from different suppliers) and both were completely unsealed. Perhaps there's a law that requires them to check it boots up before shipping..?

The language is determined by the customization, different regions have different customizations. Mine came with English (UK) pre-selected.
Bought mine from eBay (USA) and the box was sealed with a Sony sticker. Model C6503.

My ZL was bought at Amazon.de as I told you in my previous post and the box was not sealed, but as I remembered the first thing when I turned the phone on was selecting the language and setup guide ...
In general, I'm also wondering what happens with those products that had been sold through internet sales and later returned by customers and of course already used? Is there any rule that buyer must get completely new device ?

Thank you for this. The phone is probably fine, but for the time being there is doubt in my mind.
I don't suppose anyone knows if there's a system menu I can access that will tell me how many times the phone has been booted? So far, I have only turned it on once, so if that number is anything more than one and can be shown on the system, I will have my answer.
I'd love to keep it, and not have the hassle of returning it, but it's such a lot of money and I want to love my handset 100%, and not have any doubt. It does seem strange that it didn't ask me for the setup guide, and the phone was also already set to vibrate which I thought was strange. Also, the Developer Options were already exposed, but I was of the belief that these need to be enabled by pressing the version number seven times.
The only thing is that I haven't yet put a SIM card in it, so I don't know if that means the phone wouldn't go straight to Setup.
Bought it straight from Sony Shop. That shop also sells other Sony products. Sealed.
C6503 Philippines.
I noticed the Sony Mobile shops here sell unsealed phones. Happen with my former Xperia S. Bought it there unsealed.

Bought a white one from Amazon.de and whilst the box was sealed the unit itself was defective - the metal around the lens was chipped and the glass side near the camera button was cracked. I sent it back yesterday and will get a refund. When I booted it up, it went straight into the German menu without asking me to choose language.
Anyway, I ordered another ZL (this time black) as I saw a cracking deal on Amazon.it who were charging just €310! Price now back up to €499.

If a "new" phone doesn't boot into
setup (language choice) then it is not new! And, obviously, if it's broken in the box and the box is undamaged it's not new! Law is strict, if it is sold as new in product description it should be in factory condition ie. As left factory after fabrication...sealed and not having been switched on!

Exactly my thoughts, which is why I was surprised, since it was ordered direct from Amazon.de and I've never had any 'returns' passed off as a new phone before from them. Anyway, it went straight back as it was clear that either it was already used or someone at the Sony factory didn't do their job properly in passing appropriate QA tests.

Good luck!! It'll be worth waiting for, but I'd be wary of the 4.2.2 update! Lots having troubles with it in other threads. I have had nothing but grief on many devices ! Out of the box on 4.1.2 easily the best android phone I have ever owned (there have been many ) and I am not going to spoil it with 4.2.2
I was reading all the post and no body says if already get a new battery replacement for the Nexus 5, I'm in the USA for vacation and I want to buy one battery for a future replacement. Please share your experience with us or say where can we buy a new one (OEM or equivalent)in a store or online. Thanks.
You will get the same type of original battery. And opening your nexus 5 may void warranty (LG services center "conditions apply" ). But for future replacement, I don't think anything will happened to this battery. LCD Screen (with digitizer assembly) should be your choice for future replacement.
So for USA, you can buy battery here is your link: (Its original battery.)

Destroying your phone for an extra 300mAh doesn't seem reasonable to me, but to each their own.

It's generally not recommended to buy a battery for "future replacement" because the battery is always degrading even just sitting on your shelf. It's recommended to buy a replacement battery only when you require the replacement battery.

Thanks for the explanation, but I have to do it because I am from Colombia and there is really difficult to get an OEM battery for the Nexus 5. So I want to take advantage while I am in USA and buy it.

Oh I see, I guess ordering it online isn't really an option from your home country? I don't think there will be any retail store with OEM Nexus 5 batteries, I think you would need to get it from a website such as etradesupply or equivalent.

You are right, we don't have a retail store who sell OEM parts or an official LG service, so I have to buy it here. In Colombia you can buy original parts for the most popular cells in the country but the Nexus 5 isn't one of them because they (Google) don't sell it there. I have to import it
I bought my nexus 5 directly in the play store, I have to buy the battery for the D820 version, for the D821 version or it doesn't matter? Thanks to all.
They all have the same internal specs. The battery should be fine, just as the screens and anything else.

If you want to buy only 1, then LG service center (with warranty you get). If you want more in quantity then try that site.
cant you just buy one on eBay and have it posted to you when you need a replacement? as someone said earlier if you buy a replacement now but don't use it for a year it will not be as good as a new battery
There are a lot of fake batteries on eBay so buyer beware.

I had a chat with LG and they asked me to send my phone to their service center in Texas... I wasn't able to ask for the price because the chat was cut off... nvm... I just bought a new Galaxy S4 again as a backup phone.
Best bet, for my money: https://lg.encompass.com/item/10389517/LG/EAC62078701/Rechargeable_Battery,lithium_Polymer. Originally posted here, Post 175.
I haven't decided to replace mine, yet. Fortunately, I can charge often and carry a power bank.
I bought the Polarcell 2450 mAh on the bay, for 23€
Battery life is now simply amazing.
Charging time is a little bit long (I don't enable the fast charge kernel option that scr#wed my previous original battery)
I couldn't reccomend it more. I can do a whole day with intense use.
Of course I use greenify, and tweak some CPU/voltage options
I use PureNexus ROM
