Is there any way I would be able to keep my unlimited plan and get the Inc 4G?

If you are willing to pay the full price of the phone and not resign a contract.. it pretty much is less money than having the 2-4 gig plan. As long as you are ok spending the 650 all at once.
Unlimited data is unlimited data, whether it be 3 or 4g. As long as you dont change your plan, you will always have unlimited data even if 5g ever comes out.

That was the case but it will be most likely changing when shared data starts.

Two or more devices (phones, tablets, etc) actually. Cmlusco, Verizon announced Family Share Data plans that will go into effect on June 28th. If you (or anyone you know, SPREAD THE WORD) want to maintain your unlimited data plan you must upgrade by then OR pay full retail on future phones to keep your plan unchanged. The plan breakdown is ridiculous. Give me a bit and I can post a link detailing the new changes.
Edit: http://www.droid-life.com/2012/06/12/the-basics-verizons-new-share-everything-plans/
and
http://www.droid-life.com/2012/06/12/verizon-announces-shared-everything-plans-starting-at-50-for-1gb-of-data-and-unlimited-talktext/
I did some math and anyone switching from a unlimited plan will have the bill increase $30-$60 over before. $720-$1440 over 24 months still feel like a subsidized phone is a good deal?
I would say the best thing about the "shared" data plan is Unlimited talk.
Honestly
shared data should look more like this
unlimited talk+text 1 gig allocation per line with the same 40$ per smartphone line starting at 15 so the share plan starts at $55 and 2 phones would be $95 and the pool would be 2 gig in size. And it scales well.
I fail to see the point of such low caps with tethering and 4g we use it faster and on more devices.
Because of this whole ordeal I am seriously thinking about buying a nexus from google and going to T-Mobile. I can get unlimited there without feeling like i'm taking it up the tailpipe :/

I'll just go back to buying used phones. Will be doing that shortly here; friend is upgrading from his Rezound to a GS3, and he's willing to sell me his Rezound. Will be a nice upgrade from the Inc.

Don't quote me on this but I think tiered data plans are coming soon, probably before the summer (iphone 5 release?).
From the past, $15 for 250 MB, $30 for 5GB (?) , and it gets up to $60+ for their "corporate" plans.
Now, that was for 3g so maybe they'll bump up the price a little for 4g. I wouldn't be surprised if they do that because VZW is a soulless, money leeching who*e. Hopefully we can keep riding on the "unlimited" data plan when Verizon changes their policy.

If they take us off of it, VZW terminates it's contract with us. You no longer have an ETA and are free to go.
I Don't think you've actually read the contract and what constitutes termination.
That being said, vzw has a good history of allowing grandfathered pricing.

So if they change a (theoretical) voice plan of 1000 min for $10/month to 10 min for $10/month there is no material affect on you? You get charged for going over min. If you used all or most of 1000 min then you get bumped down to 100 but still use 1000 min you'll have to pay more. Would this not count towards you being able to drop out of your contract either?
If you got the $30/month unlimited plan because you're a heavy user and you use say, ~10GB a month and they change your plan to $30/month for 5GB plus $10/GB over (or whatever they decide the rate to be) you're going to be paying more for the same things you got on your own contract.
I think they would be breaking their end of the contract. Even if they could get away with it, it would mean a lot of bad press. Verizon doesn't want any more of that than they already have.

I used basically the same minute comparison when trying to get out of T-Mobile once they started throttling at 5 gigs. It was a no go for me. Needless to say I was pretty heated since I often used 6-7 gigs and when throttled would get 59kbps on their 3G. Hopefully it doesn't come to that again.

If you have $30 unlimited 4G LTE data now, you will keep it forever. VZW will only force you to change your plan if you upgrade to a device that is incompatible with your current plan. For instance, VZW offered unlimited data on their 3G air cards. That plan has been discontinued but the customers who have it get to keep it on any 3G air card device they purchase. If they want to upgrade to 4G, however, they would have to give up that plan due to plan/device incompatibility. The system would not allow it.

As you probably know, Verizon no longer offers unlimited data. I luckily managed to get in before the change, but I still cant believe this b.s. ... especially now that they have 4G. Heck with 4G you could easily go over the 10GB plan(the best they offer) in a single day. Even on my Inc 2 I still average 20Gb/month.
It really bothered me because I thought of getting rid of my Inc 2 and getting a tablet, then switching to a data only plan... but ofcourse then it would no longer be unlimited.
Are any of you guys upset about this? Think it will hurt Verizon?
im not too upset by it since i was able to get a discounted incredible 2 and unlimited data the day before they changed plans. what i am unhappy with is the pricing of the new plans. 30 for 2gb? i feel they should have offered a cheaper plan than 30. i rarely go over a gb of data since i use wifi mostly so it would have been really nice to save with a cheaper data plan.
Anyone already on an unlimited plan is grandfathered in. This includes adding a new line or device under your account. Only new subscribers at this point are stuck with tiered.

Actually, there is a catch. I added the unlimited data to my plan late June when I heard they were making the move to tiered data even though I am still sporting a Chocolate 3. Yesterday, I snagged the Inc 2 through Target for free. Checked my new plan on Verizon and they put me on the 2GB plan. I called and was told that I had the Unlimited Data plan for "Feature Phone" and now I have a Smartphone so 2GB for $30. After, telling them to cancel everything they finally changed it over. So all good now, but I never knew that the bits were different on Feature vs Smart phones.
I read everywhere that even if you have an account it doesn't matter unless you have unlimited. No grandfathering in when you add a line. Looking for the links

well, i go 'mobile' a lot with my laptop and so i use tethering often. also, i don't have a tv so i will stream a lot of movies on my phone & watch that way while laying in bed. additionally, when i'm at work or driving around i have it stream music quite often.
Tiered doesn't matter to me at all. I use around 1GB per month at the most, so having a 2GB plan with a 2GB Tethering (for my Galaxy Tab 10.1) on top for a little under 39 bucks (with my discount) isn't all that bad. Sure, unlimited is better, but I don't use more than 2GB anyway so what do I care. I do wish they had lowered the price to the lowest plan though...that was kind of disappointing.
20 GB a month? Wow.. At my worst, I only managed 3, and that was a little under 2 GB mobile and over 1 GB tether.
Hey guys,
First off I'd like to just recognize the XDA forums and its members for all of your help over the past few years as I've been rooting, unlocking, and troubleshooting my android devices. I started with the T-Mobile Dash (HTC Excalibur), T-Mobile MyTouch 3G, Sprint HTC Hero, Sprint Galaxy Tab (Original 7-inch), and now happily using my unlocked and rooted Verizon Galaxy Nexus running AOKP M5.
Anyway, i recently was on the phone with Verizon to bump up my data plan to the 10GB / month deal for $50. We ended up bullshitting a bit about how old unlimited plans are going away with upgrades, and how people want true, unthrottled, unlimited data. Now I don't know how much truth there is in this, or if she was maybe just trying to get my hopes up, but she mentioned that in the near future verizon is going to launch a truly unlimited family data plan.
Has anyone else heard of this? Now this was only a tier 1 customer service representative, and I know I've heard a lot of people mention how the tier one people are not given any information about upcoming promotions like this. But it makes me think that maybe if there is any truth to this, other customer service members must know of it too, and possibly have told other curstomers.
So i was wondering if anyone other than me has heard anything? And if Verizon was to release an "Unlimited" data plan (family or per device), do you think it would end up being throttled?
If they were going to release an unlimited plan why would they bother removing the current ones?
I think its full of crap... Verizon is trying to get ppl to leave the Unlimited plans just like AT&T... recently Verizon said announced that ppl on unlimited were going to be forced out of it. But with so many petitions going around Verizon decided "fine u can keep your unlimited data plans but when it comes to upgrades, you'd be forced to pay the phone at retail price" ..... I personally never get upgrades from carriers... I'm on AT&T and I haven't upgraded my line in about 4 years. Bought the Nexus One .. went for the Nexus S ... and Now The Galaxy Nexus... but if what the lady says is true then my guess is that Verizon doesn't have enough ppl on the 4G network soooo perhaps this Works to there advantage. And of course there will always be a Throttle. =P

Because it's a grandfathered plan that CDMA customers got for a relatively inexpensive monthly fee. And I don't believe they are doing away with the plan for CDMA-only customers, as that "problem" should automaticaly take care of itself in just a few generations of phones. I've always thought that it was just a matter of time before they stoped offering their loyal long-time customers unlimited LTE service for the same low monthly rate they've always paid. Othewise tens of thousands of people would be using it for their home internet service as the LTE network grows. I'm sure many folks already are.
I'm only speculating, but the "Unlimitied Family Data" concept does sound feasible. But I'll bet it will cost more than twice what the grandfathered customers are now paying for it. Perhaps significantly more.

Well, i know that currently i believe there are only per device unlimited plans. What I've heard is that those plans will be switched to a tiered data plan if you are still on 3G and upgrade to a 4G LTE device.
What the Verizon lady was saying is that they will bring back unlimited as a Family Plan add-on, so that you can pay, say $100 (total guess), and get truely unlimited data on every device on your plan.
For me, this would be great, because everyone on my plan uses at the very least 4GB of data a month. This adds up to be about $150 in data plans across all the devices. If we could consolidate our data plans to one family plan wide "plan" then we could save alot of money, and use as much data!

I know it probably wont happen due to the proprietary 4G LTE technology, but it would be great to see Google offer unlocked 4G LTE nexus devices directly (on the play market). I would LOVE to pay google directly for their device at a slightly higher price, and not have to worry about voiding warranty or contract by modding my phone. Plus id love to get the actual google back cover for my GNEX, instead of that ugly Verizon stamped one...
How many years must i wait for truely unlimited data so i can use my device and the internet the way it was meant to be used!?!?

I don't see why they'd be bringing back unlimited data when they haven't offered it to new subscribers for quite a long time now. I suggest taking the time to read your entire contract so you can find out everything you are doing that is clearly not covered by the agreement you signed with Verizon.

Funny, I don't recall anyone asking for your opinion on this... i thought this thread was on the possibility of unlimited data coming our way.
OMG the world will end because people like me share internet to their computer! Do you guys realize that your on a website that specializes in stuff like, hmmmmm, wifi tethers? I understand their is a whole mess of more complicated things here, but honestly.... quit being so old fashioned. times are changing more and more each day. soon only big businesses will have data from the wall and everything will be wireless.
Also, why would they give us the ability to wifi tether if they didn't want us to use our data for it?
Inb4 "that's why they charge extra for tehtering", maybe the people who do that actually paid for the official service?
*edit*
I'm an unlimited 3g user. I use wifi and Bluetooth tether, but only when I am in a place that doesn't have its own wifi or if my home wifi is acting up. Not all unlimited tetherers are bad. Besides, I pull in FAR more data streaming my music with Google Play Music.

The extra charge just for the ability to tether is BS! Just because i dont throw $40 a month to verizon to pay for a tether, doesnt mean im stealing data. I pay for the data no matter what. So what i use that data for and what device i use that data on should be totally up to me.
I've been dreading this whole shared data business. Well today while ordering my replacement gnex they mentioned the plans to me so I let them do their whole pitch. Ends up if I suck it up and say buhbye to my unlimited data I can get a way better deal.
Right now I pay $280. Two smart phones at $90 each a dumb phone for $50 and a charge of $50 for some **** about having unlimited plans. If I switch to 10 gigs a month I pay $210. This is great for me since I use roughly 6 gigs tops and the other line uses maybe 1. Just my experience.

How? The guy above you paying $160 has Sprint. Sure it is uncapped and unthrottled but when your peak download is 2mbps in peak hours it Sucks. The guy paying $30 a month gets 5GB of HSPA+, unlimited texts and 100 minutes.
The plans work for them but it does not sound like they will work for you.

Wow derp.... I didn't know he was sprint. Here I am thinking I'm getting raped when I'm not. Either way I'll be switching soon enough and probably picking up a tablet when a decent 7 inch comes out

I don't give a **** about LTE. My 3G speed tests average 1.5-2.5mbps and I am using WiFi more often than not.

Back on topic.
I found that I would be paying 20-30 more a month with the shared plans.
I am on a 1400 minute family plan, 2 smart phones, 3 feature phones.
1 line has unlimited data
1 line has 4gb.
I pay about 235 a month.

I was thinking about this. I think it helps people more like myself who need unlimited talk and text. If I just dropped my minutes down it would make no sense but if I need to keep them its a good deal but that's also because for me 10 gigs might as well be unlimited

There used to be a time when we would need all those minutes, but now we could probably get away with 700 minutes with all the m2m and friends and family calling we do.

I had 10-15mbps WiMax 4G with the phone I sold to get this one. Didn't give a **** then, either. I don't even notice that I don't have it.
How do you utilize the LTE speeds you get? What do you do with your devices that actually takes advantage of it?
Hey all. I've been using Straight Talk with an ATT SIM but I'm tired of getting throttled for no reason. I want to switch to a plan with ATT. I would use roughly 2-4 GB a month and prefer unlimited talk and text. Any ideas on a good plan or deal?

although you wont be throttled in speeds, you'll be throttled in the wallet as a major carrier is usually going to cost double or more.
currently, an AT&T individual plan with 450 minutes, 3gb of data and unlimited texting is $90 before tax
a mobile share plan with unlimited minutes, unlimited texting and 4gb of data is $110 before tax
i have at&t. just want you to understand the cost difference

Re: Best ATT plan?
I appreciate the quick response. Yeah, I know the price is gonna suck but honestly I have a tough time trusting ST anymore. They literally told me my plan was throttled because I use FB and Twitter. When I was on Sprint I used maybe 5gb a month. Came to ST and started off using around 2 but for throttled. They have me down to 1GB a month and I STILL get throttled. I don't stream anything and only use a few mb a day. They have a new "department" now for high data use subscribers. Its a voice recording telling you how to minimize your data use. That's it. My plan renewed and it went right back to 200k down. I'm ready to pay more so I can actually use my data for more then just a quick web browse. The price is great but they're so unclear about their policies and its impossible to find someone there who actually knows what they are talking about. Pay for what you get I guess.

And don't forget, it's $10 for every Gb you go over your data plan

As mentioned before there are several options with AT&T, but they come with a price tag. If you want unlimited talk and text and a limited data then mobile share is the way to go. If you have family, or family members who you trust will pay their share of the bill, you can add lines and spread out the costs SOME. There is no right or wrong choice...it is dependent upon you and what you want and/or need. Keep in mind that you can tie into AT&T wireless areas as part of the plans so you can help limit some data usage.
