Hello,
I have accidently hard bricked my xperia play.
After i soft bricked it due to flashing a wrong rom i managed to fix it again but then the phone couldnt detect my sdcard.
So i tried to install a new rom again what then failed badly.
I tried to flash it with flashtools but it failed because i forgot to activate debugging so i just plugged my phone out and tried to start it but it somehow didnt work....
Now my computer only does a sound when i plug it in and flashtool nor my computer can detect my phone.
There neither is a led blinkin..
Is there anything i can do?

well i first flashed the wrong rom and had a soft brick
after that, i fixed it by flashing the stock rom
then, i again tried to flash a firmware with flashtools because my phone couldnt detect the sd-card and cwm somehow didnt work anymore.
while trying to flash the firmware i had to unplug my phone while flashing because i didnt activate debuggin, the flashing had already started tho.

Or try to enter in flash mode from different computer
Basicly, all you need is to enter flash mode and flash stock ftf with flashtool.
Why you can't enter flash mode, i am unable to understand...

reinstall drivers from flashtool folder (most probably it's in c:\Program Files (x86)\Flashtool\drivers\ )
Connect your Play in flash mode (power off, hold back and plug in usb)
Look in device manager for anything with name sony, sony erricson, semc, adb, r800... Expand all items if you have too. Screenshot would help also
Check in other mods too (normal and fastboot mode)

Thanks for your thread.
But I spent hours now, to find a method to reanimate my phone. Still I didnt find a suitable semc package or sin_file_set to flash in s1tool.
In other thread I read a hint that maybe I destroyed my trim area. First of all I made a backup of trim area with backupTA program. The backup is a .zip file or .img file. Is there a possibility to restore my phone?

Hi there,
I believe I hard bricked my phone as well (screen stays black, phone vibrates once when keeping the power button pressed, cant get into recovery, volume down button pressed connecting via USB shows green red light flash).
However when connecting to the S1 tool Emma from Sony it detects the phone (see below screen shot) and says the bootloader wasn't unlocked. I am pretty sure I have done this. (It is my first attempt to install a custom ROM).
The S1tool in the description below seems not to recognize the device.
After ploughing through some threads and reading about opening the device looking for test points I thought your thread here seems to be more fit for purpose.
I used EasyRootTool and LockedDualRecovery. I also created a back up file with Backup-TA before bricking it. I got this on my other machine and can attach this if needed tomorrow.
Some help and guidance would be very much appreciated.

Another point: in flashtool you can also unlock and lock the bootloader BLU button). (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2440597) (http://xperiafirmware.com/8-firmware/46-sony-xperia-z1-compact-d5503) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2642081) (Type in phone *#*#7378423#*#* and go to Service Info => Configuration. If bootloader is unlocked it will say: "Bootloader unlocked: Yes". If it says something else like "Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes", it means the bootloader is locked.). So you can check, if your bootloader is really unlocked

I dont believe, that your phone is ahrdbricked. It seems to be a soft brick: screen stays black, phone vibrates once when keeping the power button pressed, cant get into recovery, volume down button pressed connecting via USB shows green red light flash.
So, you can boot in flashmode. Use flashtool (latest version 9.18), its a powerful tool. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658952) (http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/09/0...allows-you-to-download-xperia-firmware-files/) (http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php) If you have installed flashtool, change to the flashtool folder (C:\flashtool), then drivers, execute the .exe and choose the drivers (fastboot, flashmode and for phone model), then run flashtool. In the links above you can see how to use it. Just boot your phone in flashmode (volume down and usb connecting, run flashtool, click the flash button, choose flashmode and choose a stock rom (which you must download before and copy as .ftf file in the folder firmware in flashtool folder, or type the button device, checkdevice updates, choose your device and download a appropriate stock rom ), then reboot, root yout device again with easyroottool or newroot, reboot in recovery and flash a custom rom. I think it should be possible.

If the led turns green for a second flashmode works, so you're doing something wrong.
Have you turned off the phone before?
USB debugging is irrelevant for entering flash mode.
Could also be a matter of drivers not installed? There are flashmode-specific drivers. There is a folder in Flashtool's folder called "drivers". You can install from there. Choose the Flashmode driver from the list, and also (maybe optional) the one from the list that is for your phone. The fastboot one wouldn't hurt either.
If you are running Windows 8, it may refuse to install these drivers. You can get around that easily... more info about it in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2378530
You probably already know this but I just want to mention it, for the sake of covering all bases..
the screen doesn't turn on when your in flashmode, it stays black.
The led should stay on but the screen doesn't.
I have the very same problem. Nothing helps. I have tried win7, 8 with no luck. bypassed the problem by creating own flashable zips
Now my phone thinks it's a D800. I was able to get into download mode and tried using LG Flashtool. I used the 850 dll and .tot but got an error.
Download Fail!
Device model is different.
Check phone or dll.
I read something about using a modified .dll but cant find more info on it. Feeling pretty stupid for possibly ruining a $400 device with such an idiotic mistake. Any advice you guys can give me is truly appreciated.
Thanks Guys

If you pull the battery so the phone is full powered off, press and hold the volume down button, and the power button down at the same time until you see the LG logo, then release just the power button, keep holding the volume down button, and then quickly press power and hold it again, you will be brought to a factory reset page, that tells you it will wipe all your data, don't worry about it, nothing will wipe, scroll down with the volume key to the yes button, hit power to accept it, it will ask you to confirm it, hit power twice and it should boot into twrp. If it boots into twrp, like it should, then you can either sideload a rom, flash an existing one you have on the phone, or hopefully you have made a twrp backup of your previous rom to restore. If instead of going into twrp, it puts you back into fastboot or download mode after agreeing to the factory reset, then there is a few more things to try.

You'll want to get the fastboot drivers, not just the adb drivers. Under device manager after you get the fastboot drivers installed, makes sure the Windows device manager shows your device, and replace the default installed driver for it with the new fastboot one you installed, open a command window with cmd, and search for "fastboot devices" and it should show a long number come back under that list now.
Also, if your computer shows the device for a short period before it disappears, you may have to go into your computers settings to disable auto-driver install, then you can just manually choose the fastboot drivers.

For me, flashtool is incredibly finicky and it takes me many different tries to make it work properly, i would try downloading the latest twrp for your G3, and extract from the .zip file the recovery.img and then try to fastboot boot that recovery to your device like i have previously explained. If that does not work for you, and flashtool does not then you can use fastboot flash commands and flash each of the partitions of your phones stock rom.

After some searching it looks like you can't disable auto driver install in windows 7 Premium. When I uninstalled the driver and plugged the phone back in, I get "Device driver was not successfully installed" In that window, I choose "change settings" and choose "Never install driver software from windows update", but it does anyway. When I go to update driver--> Browse my computer for driver software-->I choose my folder with the fastboot drivers, I get "The best diver software for your device is already installed". Now my phone comes up as LGE Android Net MTP Device, it doesn't show as G3 anymore. Also when I enter fastboot devices in cmd I get 'fastboot' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. No matter what i do, my phone goes to the Firmware Update screen with the USB symbol on it. IN the small box below the progress bar, it reads: User 50.0 AS0.0 B40 UHS
S U LG-800 04.4.2 Hrev_10
CloudyG2 2.2
I don't know if this is helpful at all.
Pm me, also it would be helpful if to have team viewer so that I can help you.

Hi there,
I've done this numerous times and various machines.
Unfortunately my devices on/off button is broken and when the battery is low and the phone shuts down I need a PC to reboot the device by using "fastboot reboot."
Works on 4 different machines, except for my homebase PC. *Sigh* :crying:
In a command window fastboot responds with "waiting for device"..... Opening the Flashtool, it recognizes the device and tells me that it is in the fastboot mode. To my surprise there is no button in Flashtool that says reboot or a chance to issue commands to the phone...... so frustrating.
Any idea of how I can get this to work? Here is what I will not do: Re-Install Windows.
Here is what I tried: Re-Installing the driver numerous times, Flashtool recognizes the device.
How can that be? Makes no sense to me at all....
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks
James

Which driver install method do you use? I think Flash tool driver exe is best, and make sure to install fastboot, flash mode, and device specific, (Z1c is 'Rhine'). It's strange that Flash tool would recognize device in fastboot mode, but fastboot wouldn't...
Anyway, an alternative would be to mod system ui to include power button on navbar. Not hard to do. Let me know if you want to try.

I changed my on-off button. It's easier

Hi Levone,
yeah, I did exacly that. Use Flashtool and then install fastboot, flash mode and the Z1C Drivers..... funny it workes smooth under Windows 7 but not at all under Windows 10 (different partition). I had the hope it goes smooth in Win10 which would suffice for me..... although I'd like to have it running in my home OS Win7x64.
Ur UI looks nice, although I dunno what help it would provide me if the phone is down

Yeah sure that would be no problem from the technical side, but I prefer the phone to be water proof :yay: #SonyForTheWin ^^

Right - I just thought that if you at least gave yourself a reboot option while phone was up, you could avoid some of the power-downs. I guess you could do thebsame with an app...
Also, might be possible to re-map and make a different button power.

O looked into it for my own curiosity, and I wastable to remap my volume key to work for power, by modding /system/usr/key layout, but doesn't work from powered off. Doesn't seem possible...

Is there a way to re-calibrate the battery so that it at least shows 20% of power and not 50% ?
Besides: How can I "avoid some of the power-downs" with a reboot?!
But. . . . . . . There are buttons in Flashtool to do what you want

Hi there,
I've done this numerous times and various machines.
What about the Fastboot Toolbox in Flashtool ?
Just in case you didn't notice 9 buttons you can push with a mouse to make your xperia do just about anything fastboot can do without ever having to touch a keyboard or a button.
