[D5503] Frustrated by device not rebooting in cmd window - Flashtool recognizes... - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I've done this numerous times and various machines.
Unfortunately my devices on/off button is broken and when the battery is low and the phone shuts down I need a PC to reboot the device by using "fastboot reboot."
Works on 4 different machines, except for my homebase PC. *Sigh* :crying:
In a command window fastboot responds with "waiting for device"..... Opening the Flashtool, it recognizes the device and tells me that it is in the fastboot mode. To my surprise there is no button in Flashtool that says reboot or a chance to issue commands to the phone...... so frustrating.
Any idea of how I can get this to work? Here is what I will not do: Re-Install Windows.
Here is what I tried: Re-Installing the driver numerous times, Flashtool recognizes the device.
How can that be? Makes no sense to me at all....
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks
James

Which driver install method do you use? I think Flash tool driver exe is best, and make sure to install fastboot, flash mode, and device specific, (Z1c is 'Rhine'). It's strange that Flash tool would recognize device in fastboot mode, but fastboot wouldn't...
Anyway, an alternative would be to mod system ui to include power button on navbar. Not hard to do. Let me know if you want to try.
Here's an example - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71219730&postcount=2212

I changed my on-off button. It's easier

Hi Levone,
yeah, I did exacly that. Use Flashtool and then install fastboot, flash mode and the Z1C Drivers..... funny it workes smooth under Windows 7 but not at all under Windows 10 (different partition). I had the hope it goes smooth in Win10 which would suffice for me..... although I'd like to have it running in my home OS Win7x64.
Ur UI looks nice, although I dunno what help it would provide me if the phone is down

Right - I just thought that if you at least gave yourself a reboot option while phone was up, you could avoid some of the power-downs. I guess you could do thebsame with an app...
Also, might be possible to re-map and make a different button power.

O looked into it for my own curiosity, and I wastable to remap my volume key to work for power, by modding /system/usr/key layout, but doesn't work from powered off. Doesn't seem possible...

Is there a way to re-calibrate the battery so that it at least shows 20% of power and not 50% ?
Besides: How can I "avoid some of the power-downs" with a reboot?!

But. . . . . . . There are buttons in Flashtool to do what you want

What about the Fastboot Toolbox in Flashtool ?
Just in case you didn't notice 9 buttons you can push with a mouse to make your xperia do just about anything fastboot can do without ever having to touch a keyboard or a button.

I can't enter in Fastboot, please help me !

Hello! I have an Xperia Arc ICS 4.0.3 (4.1.A.0.562), I want to unlock my bootloader, but I can't enter in Fastboot, I tried many times (switched phone off, I pressed & hold Menu button and then I connected the USB cable), but don't occur as seen in all tutorials. Turns Sony logo, and blue light flashes only once and the Sony logo remains same. Please help me, as you know almost all, if you have not unlocked bootloader can not really do anything.

Had similar problem once. If its the same, you dont have the drivers installed.
In my case the phone also didnt enter the fastboot mode, LED flashed blue once and the phone kept booting.
Try this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582554

[Q] One x touch screen fail

Searched many places for my problem but cannot find it specifically and this forum seems to be more clued up than most so here goes.
One x screen started to occasionally freeze on unlock screen (volume buttons worked also the volume pop up came on so screen itself not frozen just couldnt touch input i presume) but would fix with either a full power down or a few presses of the top button. Over the course of a day or two this has progressed to virtually always freezing and finally to where i couldnt unfreeze it even after powering down.
Did a factory reset which did give me access to my phone again but still the problem persists.
From my research it could possibly be some sort of cache problem. Also noticed after factory reset with no apps or data installed, apart from the preinstalled ones, am using 4.7 gb of internal memory with only htc sense running. this seems excessive to me but never checked it before so not sure if this is about right. If not then the cache theory could be right.
So can anyone help me please.

No need to root / unlock bootloader
EDIT: follow option 2
following option 2 but stuck.
Make sure that USB debugging is enabled (Settings/Developer options). In order to determine which ruu file you require, boot your device into bootloader mode (Power off and then restart device by holding Power and Volume Down button together). Connect to pc via USB and check that device shows FASTBOOT USB on screen. Enter the following command in command prompt:
fastboot getvar version-main
But when i enter that in Command prompt i get fastboot is not recognised command etc using windows 8. Any help
Note: my phone is locked

Hold the power button and the volume - button together until it reboots and boots into the bootloader, hook the usb cable and you should see "fastboot usb" in red text. At that point you run the ruu with administrator rights

Try shutting of the phone, powering on when holding power button+volume down for about 8s.
You will get a hboot, choose fastboot connect usb cable and try ruu with admin permissions
finally did get to hboot screen by letting the phone shutdown itself but couldnt ruu as battery power to low so i powered down and recharged battery but back to square one where i cannot get to boot screen just constant black htc screen and cant power down again.
So ill let my battery run down again to power off completely open boot screen then stay on that til i power up enough to try ruu again.
Il let you know what happens when this is done later.

Now my phone thinks it's a D800. I was able to get into download mode and tried using LG Flashtool. I used the 850 dll and .tot but got an error.
Download Fail!
Device model is different.
Check phone or dll.
I read something about using a modified .dll but cant find more info on it. Feeling pretty stupid for possibly ruining a $400 device with such an idiotic mistake. Any advice you guys can give me is truly appreciated.
Thanks Guys

If you pull the battery so the phone is full powered off, press and hold the volume down button, and the power button down at the same time until you see the LG logo, then release just the power button, keep holding the volume down button, and then quickly press power and hold it again, you will be brought to a factory reset page, that tells you it will wipe all your data, don't worry about it, nothing will wipe, scroll down with the volume key to the yes button, hit power to accept it, it will ask you to confirm it, hit power twice and it should boot into twrp. If it boots into twrp, like it should, then you can either sideload a rom, flash an existing one you have on the phone, or hopefully you have made a twrp backup of your previous rom to restore. If instead of going into twrp, it puts you back into fastboot or download mode after agreeing to the factory reset, then there is a few more things to try.

You'll want to get the fastboot drivers, not just the adb drivers. Under device manager after you get the fastboot drivers installed, makes sure the Windows device manager shows your device, and replace the default installed driver for it with the new fastboot one you installed, open a command window with cmd, and search for "fastboot devices" and it should show a long number come back under that list now.
Also, if your computer shows the device for a short period before it disappears, you may have to go into your computers settings to disable auto-driver install, then you can just manually choose the fastboot drivers.

For me, flashtool is incredibly finicky and it takes me many different tries to make it work properly, i would try downloading the latest twrp for your G3, and extract from the .zip file the recovery.img and then try to fastboot boot that recovery to your device like i have previously explained. If that does not work for you, and flashtool does not then you can use fastboot flash commands and flash each of the partitions of your phones stock rom.

After some searching it looks like you can't disable auto driver install in windows 7 Premium. When I uninstalled the driver and plugged the phone back in, I get "Device driver was not successfully installed" In that window, I choose "change settings" and choose "Never install driver software from windows update", but it does anyway. When I go to update driver--> Browse my computer for driver software-->I choose my folder with the fastboot drivers, I get "The best diver software for your device is already installed". Now my phone comes up as LGE Android Net MTP Device, it doesn't show as G3 anymore. Also when I enter fastboot devices in cmd I get 'fastboot' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. No matter what i do, my phone goes to the Firmware Update screen with the USB symbol on it. IN the small box below the progress bar, it reads: User 50.0 AS0.0 B40 UHS
S U LG-800 04.4.2 Hrev_10

How to turn on the device without using on/off button?

Hi. My all side buttons the phone doesnt work any more, it was not a big problem until my battery run out...
Is there is any way to boot it up without using power button? for example with PC or something but of course without losing data??? Please help I need to boot my phone, at least once..
any one people? someone in here definitely should know something about it. xda-dev always do
Any way to do it through ABD?
Try plug it in usb and check if it connects to adb. If yes then type adb reboot. It will be booted to home screen. Else u can try by pressing the volume up and plugin the usb cable it will connect to fastboot then type fastboot boot system.

@Sw1pe, if your phone is turned of, connect it to your computer while holding the volume up button. Blue led will glow on your device, your phone is connected in fastboot mode. Now open a command window and type "fastboot reboot" without the quotes and voila. Your computer must have adb and fastboot installed for this purpose. Similarly there is also a command for shutdown command but not for fastboot, but for adb. Hopefully this helps.....

Thanks mate thats a good method, I knew it but the problem is like I did mention in the first post, that all my off my side buttons doesn't work, including volume amd camera button... So im more unlucky than you though. But there is even bigger problem, I don't care that much about the phone, I could just send to incurance. But the problem is as I found out recently, I have very important files for me in phones memory... Thats where this situation makes me extremely unlucky... As those files supposed to be in my SD and I always thought they are until this happened... is there is any way to get those files out?? I got developer mode / usb debugging enabled on my phone. If I send it to incurance I will lose those files... :crying::crying:

Question Oppo Reno 6 5G (PEQM00) bricked

Hello
I need help here I have tried everything to fix my oppo reno 6 5g chinese version and now I am at a dead end can anybody give any suggestion.?
My phone is on black screen and its showing only for 2 second on device manager as some other version which made mtkclient tool to failed handshake and sp flash tool to give error.
like attached screen shots.
In device manager it is showing as V_1632 which is idk what.
I tried all combination but phone is at black screen now.
Device is not going into BROM mode.
Any help will be much appreciated.
hmmm, at least you didn't flash the wrong preloader, so we can save this pretty easily actually.
Just simply follow this guide:
Download VCOM drivers: Mega Link
Install LibUSB and filter your device driver after connecting it through USB while pressing on both vol + and vol - buttons.
Install Python and install it's requirements using the command `pip install pyusb pyserial json5` in CMD.
Extract MTK bypass util anywhere and run the command `python main.py` in the extracted folder through CMD while your device is connected (KEEP HOLDING VOL + AND VOL - DURING THE BYPASSING!!!).
Open SP and flash the scatter file of your stock ROM (PLEASE ONLY FLASH YOUR STOCK ROM) (ONLY USE DOWNLOAD MODE).
Then reboot your device and it should work.
If you face any issue or don't know how to do a step of those just reply to the thread. I'll try to attach some pictures, just be aware I'm only online at about this time.

I did everything like you described step by step first 3 steps were installations so that went ok but in step 4 I followed your instructions but nothing happend.
I pressed VOL up+VOL down buttons but nothing happend for long time.
Here is screen shot of CMD
I think preloader is damaged or something because not its not going in BROM mode at all only black screen.
If i press VOL up+VOL down+PWR buttons then in device manager phone is shown as I shared screenshot in post but only for like 2 seconds.
like this
Also in SP flash tool detects the phone but when I hit the downlad button it gives error STATUS_ERR instantly not even start the process.
Most likely you didn't use LibUSB right, just open the app connect the device and when you see it in the list of devices highlight it and press install

But when i press all HW buttons then LibUsb shows a device then I select it and install and completes it but thats the problem it only shows for 2 second then gone.
like this
what should i do now?
I think you fried the preloader mate, you need to do a test point connection and force the device to connect to the cpu directly.
If you're unsure how to do that please send your device to a professional instead.

It's device specific so I'll need to look into it and reply to you, but generally speaking you're going to connect a USB to the device through specific CPU pins on the motherboard.
