Hi,
recently, I have upgraded my Xperia Arc S to the official sony android 4.0 rom for 2011 xperias, which is quite nice.
But today (21st June, 2012), Sony released a new android update for the Sony Xperia S, which is different from the android 4 for my arc. Here is the video about it: youtube.com/watch?v=i189IkIvJc0&feature=player_embedded
I noticed that among everything else, Xperia S got 3 new awesome apps: "Walkman", "Album" & "Movies." The "Messaging" app also got updated with useful new features [shown in video at 2:45]. Would anybody be willing to make these 4 apps available on other Xperia phones as well?
dude we already have walkman and messaging app..and hopefully remaining apps will be available soon
and this topic is already being discussed in general section...
Could you add a link to the section about those 2 apps please?
go to this thread and see .. there is discussion going on about these new apps & how they work on Xperia 2011 model ICS versions.
go to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1723986
Thanks!

I cant believe that I didnt know 2.3.4 was available for xperia play 0_o
anyways, im currently on 2.3.3 and my phone is rooted. If I update, will my phone be unrooted? (i have a feeling the answer is yes but I just want to make sure).
Also, the stock camera really isnt good, I saw a mod for xperia play where the R button takes photos and L button focuses. Are there other mods similar to this?
And when will virtua tennis (from sega) be available on xperia play? I saw them testing the game out on the play in the sony ericsson blog and 2 months ago...
Yes it will become unrooted again if you update the firmware
depends on how you update.

Somebody please make an Android 4.4.2 KitKat Rom with all the Sony Apps like Walkman, Cybershot, Album, Honami Home etc including its framework. . . It would really be nice if Aroma is also included like in Nature Xperia Advance v3.2 International Edition ROM. . . Carbon Rom makers or Paranoid Android Developers or anyone.
I tried many different Rom's but I found none of them stable. All has got some problem or the other...
It would really be cool if someone does make one with all the Sony Apps.

I was in the same boat as you, but ever since I moved to BeanStalk, I don't really miss anything from Sony, except the Small Apps. I am in the process of trying to port (following the CM11 guide) the Small Apps on the BeanStalk. If I successfully manage to do that, I am in heaven!
Google camera is just as good as the Sony stock one.
The Apollo is also just as good, not to mention the built-in DSP for the headphones, which is fantastic.
Even with the stock ROM, I used QuickPic, since it is quicker than the built-in Gallery.
The ROM is fully customisable, and I moved from Google's Home to NOVA launcher... the phone is just flying!
The only other thing which I "ported" from the Sony stock and I love is the "Top contacts" widget. I used Titanium backup to restore the app and behold it worked straight away!
I actually just discovered HALO!
It is included in the BeanStalk version. It is quite similar to SmallApps from Sony. It is not quite as elegant, BUT it also has a major advantage!
You can fire app ANY app on your phone as a SmallApp!
I am fully converted now!
If you have xperia ion...this is what you need, it includes small apps too

Anybody know a way to make a Flashable zip of it?

Sony has always been known for being more 'propriety' oriented. Been using T2 Ultra for 6 months. Bought 640XL (WP 8.1) a week back. Things for which I used to have to scour the world of apps, are available within and are a breeze to work. Software needs more 'visual polishing' but is much more accomplished.
Notes successfully Ported to Lollypop and maybe on Kitkat

So i bought Xperia M5 a month ago and i love the phone and it has a grate thing ability to change themes i was always crazy about themes. Now there is a lot of themes online and on Google play especially on XperiaBlog anf with these themes you can change NavBar/Soft buttons/Navigation button. But in my case i can't at least not with all, themes that are made by Sony works fone well maybe two or three don't but others from online/XperiaBlog don't work, the wallpaper and all other stuffs changes except NavBar,So is anybody else having this issue or just me?
Trying to do this on Xperia M5 E5603 from 2016,lollipop 5.1.1 30.1.A.1.33 (that's the latest update for my CDA/SI code)Thanks

I am using the theme named 'Elegant Black' download from internet (forgot if I dwnload it from playstore or not), it worked well in previous version of OS but now partly working with he newest OS.
AlgebraTheBard
owned devices:
Sony Xperia M5 dual (recent)
ZTE Nubia Z7 mini (backup)
Motorola RAZR XT910 custom
hm...Then it might be the new OS,the themes aren't compatible with newest OS,well at least not fully, i'm interested more at changing NavBar with the theme.
