Another Overclock Question - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
i just installed doomkernel for my Play and using True Ancestor Rom
My question is, whats the best Governor and I/O smooth gaming?Battery life i dont mind because im using a 2500mah battery and as long as it doesnt drain that fast.
And whats the best Min.Clock freq to put?

If you use the performance governor, it will always run at the max frequency, so the min frequency won't matter. This will drain your battery very fast, and the device might get hot. I don't know about I/O, but you can just play with the settings and find something that works for you.

performance governor is the fastest for me

[Q] SmartassV2 or Ondemand? which is really better?

I have read many articles regarding the above topic..some article says smartassV2 is better than Ondemand..and some says Ondemand it better than SmartassV2 in case of battery drain to performance ratio..But i would like to know user experience on this topic..
which one do u think is better according to you?
Smartass is better because phone is not running at max speed if you're scrolling etc [saving battery fo sho]. In games i've spotted no differences.

[Q] How to safe overclock my XPERIA Play?

Installed the JokaWild v3 ROM on my Play and flashed the DooMKerneL v14 ,now i wanna know how to do a safe OC.
I'm using No-frills CPU ,can you tell me the best settings for good and safe OC to XPERIA Play?
Thank you
I dont generally OC my phone beyond 1.2 but you can use this app to run a sereies of tests to determine which OC speed is best for your phone as all phones are different.

I don't overclock mine past 1.4. My play actually reboots if I go 1.6 or more.
I Overclocked my phone to 1.5 and it worked fine. Then tried overclock to 1.6 ,and it's really working good! no bugs ,very fast and the battery stays cool.
I'll stay with my 1.6Ghz overclock ,I think it's enough
What governor / IO scheduler are you guys using? i'm in the same position (jokawild / doomkernel v14 and just installed nofrills cpu) and have read the FAQ, but the version i have seems to have considerably more governors than what has been listed
EDIT: list explaining the governors is here

I'm on SmartassV2.
I once asked this same question ot DoomLord, maker of DoomKernel about which governor and IO to use for best gaming and all around performance.
His recommendation (whihc I have been using since and saw a noticable difference) was to use
Governor: Performance
I/O: BFQ
and I overclock mine to 1.2ghz. My first android phone i oc'd too much, heard a popping noise and BAM.....bu-bye. So I dont go too far..
I generally step up the speed one step at a time until I hit errors that cannot be explained or I get force quits because the phone is running too fast. I suggest going slowly and testing things out but using the governor Performance while the phone is changing. Right now I'm doing okay with smartass v2 at .60/ 1.5 ghz. I might try bumping it up to 1.6 ghz and see how that works tomorrow.

Epic It is like the phone has no battery cuz on this governor, the phone runs at max frequency.

I know I'm mad late, but I was wondering why my phone kept rebooting. I uninstalled all overclocking apps so I thought my profiles would return to normal. Turns out I must have accidentally set the profile to 2ghz max and 2ghz min somehow. My phone was super lagging and thank God it didn't burn out, smh...

I currently have my Play overclocked to 1.6 using the interactive governor. Battery life is great and it runs steady at 60fps in FPSE. Also Mupen64 runs much better. I haven't had any issues with it so far!

What scheduler are you using??
Mine is running fine on 1.4Ghz with SIO scheduler and InteractiveX governor, the bbatery life seems fine as well...
SmartAss always causing lag on me, dunno why...
LUPUS_GB
i use lupus kernel for gb v2 with i/o setting SIO and governor superbad..
and my phone runs well...no lag..
Hey guys ive already overclocked my phone using the lubus gb kernelv12 and i gota say having the extra internal memory (EXTRA 400MB!!!) and the ability to overclock to 1.6ghz is nice, however there are some things i wana ask. Im running at a min 249 and a max of 1613 mhz using no frills cpu with smartassv2 as my governer and noob as be scheduler, it runs miracles in speed, everything i can run at high resolutions and play and top speeds. However i leave my phone like this all the time ( 249mhz 1613 mhz). The smartassv2 governer is ment to only use high cpus when needed, so that in theory means that i wont always be at 1.6ghz. Ive read on other forums keeping your phone overclocked all the time is bad and dangerous but is it really if the max cpu is only being used when needed? In otherwords should i leave it how it is or is it dangerous? My device is an xperia plat btw. :victory:

AFAIK only the Performance gov keeps the phone at the max allowed clock speed (1.6GHz in your case), so it's just fine as it is. You could, however, use an app (the only one I know that does this is SetCPU, there might be others) to make profiles so it'll only be overclocked when playing games/running benchmarks et cetera. This might save you some battery life.
CPU master by antutu allows you to set profiles but you need to buy the pro to do it

[Q] CPU Overclock?

Greetings. Today I wanted to try overclocking my Wildfire S a510e and my question is: What is the most stable frequency of CPU in this phone (excluding the default one, of course), if someone tried it?
I am using this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683874
I'm at 806. xD It's goin awesome. The battery life is not that cool.... BUT EXCEPT THAT, MY MOBILE IS AWESOME. I mean the speed and flexibility is like Heaven.
245-787 using Performance.
-----------
"You can overclock as much as you want, your phone will always seem too slow."
Actually i use profiles via setcpu because you dont need performance everytime and of yourse you need your battery all day  i have 4 profiles..screen off(245-400), charging(787-864),battery is low(600-480) and main (600-824) these are all with"ondemand" and so happy with them  i used at 864 on performance for hours once and i didnt see any problem but anyway performance is not needed everytime...
245-787 smartass2 or scary and noop or sio

Overlocking

Hey there
I am just wondering if overlocking may cause a life less for battery or cpu
if not what's the the fastest and safest one for the min and max ?
thx
Maybe you wanted to overclock it? Don't think that overlocking your phone will do any good.
I know that the overclock is bad for the processor´s life but no in battery , so i don´t recommend you use overclock , it use more battery , if you are looking for speed and stability , do something diferent . I use my phone always in under clock and genrally i can use it for 2 days without charge it , but it have good speed and stabilty (on demand 122-480)
If you want performance with good use of battery try changing the governor for Smartass V2, min: 122 and max: 600. If you have SmartassH3, better
Thank u for u reccomandation...i tryied what u said and in 1 hour only 2% battery drain(phone was idle) btw thank u.....

U can safely oc any cm7 rom to over 700mhz if u planin' to play some chalengin games, otherwise it's beter to stay within max freq around 600, and play with governors for performance or battery life. See some kernels with better governor support.

Ok thank u.....but gaming also drain battery so i dont play them.....

[Q] Most efficient setcpu settings

Ive currently got my setcpu set up to scale the cpu down from max to min dependent on my battery life. I was just wondering what governor/scheduler is the best for battery life? I'm currently running the ktoon gov with the default scheduler which is noop. is this good or bad? what could I run better to increase battery life?
Im not gaming or anything Im just talking day to day internet usage, text, call..Very rarely do I game as I can't find any good games to play thanks in advance for your help!
Completely depends on how u use it. No one really uses it just like u use ur phone. So u just have to experiment with wat gov and what ever.
But if u r using KT747 kernel I would refer to this forum it is extremely informative and gives u preset tweaks if u want balanced or battery saving performance options just take a glance read thru it and hope it helps u out!!!!
