[Q] FC09 Alarm Failure? [SOLVED] - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

3 alarms on two phones were nice enough not to go off this morning. They didn't even wake the phone. Using the stock included alarm apk. Anyone else still asleep waiting for their alarm? Lucky for my internal clock!

thankfully (*cough*) my alarm goes off every morning.
how did you install your rom? maybe you should odin back to stock and retry
hehehehe

Mine worked this morning. CleanGB 1.1.2 which is EL30 based and using Alarm Clock Plus

Mine went off as always with The People's ROM stock alarm clock. Is your phone on silent and alarms set to still sound when silent?

Well I did restore my phone late last night... may need to cycle the alarms. Not sure about my wife's... maybe it did go off and neither of us remember. Haha
UPDATE: In hindsight, this is probably the case. I did wake up minutes after her alarm SHOULD have gone off, and she probably stopped it in her sleep... Yeah, I bet the backup/restore glitched my alarms. Cycled them, all better now. :-D

Random reboots at idle?

Anyone narrow down the random reboots when phone is idle, I'm using all of no2chems files, fugu tweaks, DRockstar's clean kernel 1.0.3, and my own version SRF 1.1.0 as a base, this is pissing me off... Someone remind me how to pull a log file...
Im getting tired of changing this...
I don't use any of that stuff, but my phone freezes/sleeps/crashes if I leave it alone for 15-30 minutes. I think its because I dropped it, but I'll find out for sure when I get my replacment, and root/flash my mods again. I have to pull the battery and put itback in to turn it back on after this happens.

It could be anything really, just wanted some opinions before I released my ROM...

I just started getting the random reboots. I have none of that stuff. Just Bonsai and Genocide kernel. I did however test a bunch of beta kernels in a row and think that did something somewhere. I cleared data and Dalvik 3 times. I saw one random reboot after that but that was the last one. If I see it happen again I am going to reflash the ROM.
Nope, still getting them. Trying a nandroid restore to when I wasn't getting random reboots. Oh the joys of being a beta tester!
You are not using a non-stock battery are ya? I had that prob with a gorilla battery.

Nope...stock. Your issue with the larger battery is the space between the case and battery as well as the center of balance for the overweight battery. A small piece of cardboard between the battery and case will fix that.
I had this issue to. other threads call it s.o.d or sleep of death. The only way that I could guarantee it to not happen to me was to either turn on gps or bluetooth or install watchdog. It's some how prevented by apps that poll regularly.

You might be right, since my setup is so clean pretty much nothing runs when screen is off...

That's the way mine is too. I'll try leacing bluetooth on just to see what happens, but I need a better solution than that. I already have watchdog lite set to check every two minutes..

Sleep of death is when it won't wake from standby usually caused by a program letting your phone go through a 100 Mhz step. We are talking about random reboots. The phone will vibrate once then reboot when sitting by itself. I just restored a Nand from before flashing 10 beta kernels and so far no reboot.
I just saw a class action lawsuit in the works as the problem seems to be across all S series phones.
Nice, got a link?

Alarm clock bug

Has this happened to any one else? At least once a week, the stock alarm clock will disable all days except one during the week. Seems like Thursday will be the only day enabled when this happens. The alarm goes off Monday through Thursday perfectly, but on Friday it shows that only Thursday is enabled so no alarm for Friday!
I haven't run into that one. Seems like it would be a problem with work and school. Have you tried deleting the alarm and recreating it?

I also had this happen which is why I use my clock by my bed as a backup (tends to be a safe idea). Mine might have been from flashing a new rom though so its hard to say.
Mine always disables wed. for some reason I hate the stock app stupid how you have to pick the days

alarm cuts off too soon.

Does anyone know of a way to keep the alarm from shutting itself off after a minute or two? I want it to keep going. until I shut it off myself.
Alarm Clock Plus. Free on Play. Wants to hear the entire song not just the intro. Froyo had the alarm with full sound. GB start with the short sound.

Make sure the alarm voice command is off, the wife was turning mine off when she was telling me to "make it STOP"
I was late to work a few times bc I slept right through them.

s3 alarm not sounding? :/

i'm on stock, unrooted, 4.0.4 (latest ota) and my alarm rarely sounds...
i have no idea what causes it to choose to sound or not, but I find that it becomes less likely to work when there's 2 alarms active.
this has been going on for a couple weeks now (used to work fine), and i woke up an hour late this morning because of it!
i've tried:
- force closing the app
- clearing data
- deleting/re-adding the alarms
- creating the alarm from within the clock app, not directly from the widget
- removing widget from the homescreen (as you can see, i'm getting pretty desperate with this one!)
anyone else experiencing this issue?
edit: could it have anything whatsoever to do with nova launcher? i think this started after switching to nova (i've since switched back to stock touchwiz). the widget didn't come up properly on nova, and I created alarms from the widget. maybe im just being stupid but I NEED this to work again.. looking for suggestions for replacement (free) alarm apps in the meantime.
thanks
no one? this issue hasn't gone away, and apparently i'm not the only one experiencing this. could it possibly be a hardware issue? other people have reported it on cm10 as well.

I'm on cm10,my alarm works, and I didn't play around with any settings. All I did was tell Google now to set alarm to w/e time I want.

Alarm works it just vibrates and has no ring!
Can you set ringtones from settings? Maybe it's a media storage issue..? Idk
You could install a 3rd party alarm app.

Check all three sound menus and if that doesn't work try restarting the phone
Galaxy S3
kindle fire running cw9
iPod touch 4
Had same problem - solved
I had exactly the same problem. Turned out my daughter had turned BLOCKING MODE ON!
When you turn this on, by default it will NOT let you hear the alarm.
I turned if off again and alarm works fine!
Hope this helps

Alarm clock fail

Been messing with kernels lately and this morning my alarm clock didn't go off when it should have. Is this a failure of the ROM, kernel, or something else?

Haha I appreciate it but it worked fine the day before, and when I test an alarm just a minute from now it works so I'm thinking something to do with the phone being in deep sleep. Was just curious if anyone could shed some light on it.

Don't think deepsleep would do that. Maybe a random reboot overnight and it reset the alarm?

hmm maybe. when you turn the phone on from an extended screen off, does it ever take a full second for your alarm icon to reappear in the status bar? noticed that too and thought it could be related.
