HELP!!!!Problem with HTC sync on windows 7

Hi all
i just received my htc desire today
i cant get the phone to work with HTC sync 2.0.25
it tries to connect but each time end up disconnected
ive tried all the htc driver 32 but etc
still nothing
i need it to work with outlook contacts and calendar
soembdy please help!!!

Desire uses 2.0.28 it is on root of SD card

Are you using 64 bit or 32 bit Windows 7?
I had similar issues in 64, and needed to manually place the HTC drivers in the Program Folder.
You can download the HTC x64 Drivers from here:
http ://www.multiupload.com/86L5JXTK0S
Just place them in the HTC directory (i.e. "C:\Program Files (x86)\HTC\" or where ever you choose to install HTC Sync. And then just reinstall the version that is located on the SD Card that came with the Desire.

Well You probably did not noticed that on the root of SD card is a new version of HTC sync 2.0.28.
So as I wrote, he only need to intall this new version 2.0.28 from SD card. Old version 2.0.25 comes with Legend and is not working with Desire.

in each section of this forum..i find the same question, whoever gets a new phone..come here ask HTC SYNC & WIN7

No I did notice that and that what I used and if you read point out. I was simply giving a piece of advice that worked for me in with the problem that I had.

It works fine on win7 x64, never tried on 32 but i assume its the same.
I posted a download link if you were like me and a few others whom deleted it by mistake. I was lucky i have two HTC Desires so fished the software of the other SD:

When you install the software it asks to restart i think, you dont realyl need to do this. When you connect your phone it will detect device etc, install drivers. Once done disconnect the phone from computer for a second o two and then reconnect it, this time the HTC sync should appear on your phone. IF you do not select htc sync it will not appear as connected in the htc sync software.

Thanks for the driver link, i didn't find them on the htc site, well i thought win7 would download them automatically just like any other device i've connected to it.
w/e now i can use my outlook contacts and calendar thanks again.

Don't know with older versions but with latest HTC Sync 2.0.28 that's in your phone SD you don't need those drivers.
On my Windows 7 64bit when i plugged the phone a driver installation error pop'd, so i removed the sd card, inserted it in a card reader, copy'd the app on my pc and installed the htc app manually. After the installation i tried again but windows gave me the same driver error, so i just started from scratch.
Unistalled htc sync, reboot, reinstalled it, reboot, plugged in the phone in htc sync and it worked
So probably you've to first install HTC Sync then plug the phone in HTC Sync mode to get it installed correctly.
EDIT 2:
Ok nothing again...
After the first sync i unplugged the phone, now if i try to replug it i get the same driver error and the device can't be recognized. Meh i really don't know what to do.
EDIT 3:
This just sounds retarded, i plugged the htc cable directly on the back of my pc w/o using an extension cable and now it works flawlessly. Gonna play around with it more to see if that's really the problem.

Press F8 when you start windows
Select the option that alows 3rd party drivers
and then let it boot into windows...
I think once you are in there is an option to allow 3rd party drivers.
Evan if teh drivers are from microsoft win 7 will do the same thing... odd but It's theer for a reason !

Sorry I hope this is not off topic and I don't want to hijack the thread but the people using laptops can they check if the laptop will go into hibernation mode with HTC sync installed. My XP netbook wont hibernate and I have to uninstall it after every time I use it, just want to check if it is a driver conflict with my netbook or a generic problem with HTC Sync.

Hey, glad I found this thread. I have been having trouble with HTC Sync from the outset. I have an unmodified Evo with 2.2 and an Asus netbook with Windows7 Starter. I was wondering if it might be the W7 Starter being limited in some way, but it sounds like the problem is across the board. I have managed to sync a couple of times but the phone and computer don't seem to recognize each other reliably. Right now the only thing the phone will do is accept a charge from the computer. Occasionally the computer will recognize the phone enough to install the driver but that's it. Anybody have any new news on this one?

+1 for this one. No issues at all even HTC says Desire is not supported but it works well. Tested iTunes sync and application installation.

I have still a problem updating the drivers and get the sync to work. :s Been trying all day. Windows 7 64 bit here

HTC Sync 3.0 & Windows 7 - no device connected

Hi all,
Has anyone got the new HTC Sync 3.0.5387 working on Windows 7 PCs?
I get "Connected" on the phone screen.
I get a "->" connected logo on the task bar on W7.
... but when I open the main HTC Sync app window on the PC it says "no device connected"
Any known fix?

Tried it on both my PC and Laptop. Same result. ;(
I uninstalled all HTC apps and rebooted before installing the V3 HTC Sync.
I also tried installing V3 on an XP Virtual Machine, and it works fine on that).

Try using a different USB port, such as the ones on the back of your PC. That's what I had to do.

Ehm...isn't 3.0 for Wildfire only?

No luck I'm afraid, but thanks anyway. I think having the previous V2 HTC Sync installed previously has left something behind, despite full uninstall/reboot.
I am now attempting to use HTC Sync 3 with Windows 7 XP Mode VM - will let you know how I get on.

Officially, perhaps yes. However, if I install in on an XP (Virtual Machine) it finds my Desire and works fine.

Sometimes you will have to turn on "USB Debugging" under Settings -> Applications -> Development for HTC Sync to work for the first time, you can then turn it off if you wish afterwards.

I am using HTC sync 3 and it works ok, you just need to turn off the USB debugging and you will be ok.

If this is for the Wildfire only, why would you bother? Wouldn't it just be a slightly bloated version of the old (officially Desire-compatible) one?

If I turn USB Debugging off, it just turns itself back on next time I connect the phone. Still not working for me on W7, but OK in a Windows XP Mode VM.
When connected to Windows 7, the handset screen says "Synchronisation Status: Connected", but HTC Sync applet shows "No Device connected".
I can see 3 tasks in task manager: adb.exe, HTC.exe, and htcUPCTLoader

HTC Sync 3.x allows significantly better selection of what gets synchronised, and also provides iTunes integration/sync.
Anyhow, most likely HTC will roll out V3 for all their handsets in time, so I can either fix the problem now or later.
Either way, it's not working for me on my Windows 7 - on 2 PCs. Both PCs have had old V2 HTC Sync installed prior to V3.

When HTCSync connects correctly in Windows XP Mode VM, the picure of a Desire is shown in the app window.
This program may only currently be downloadable from the Wildfire support area, but it's definitly NOT only working for that model.

When I tried v3 with Win 7 x64 it wouldn't work properly until I ran it with Administrator settings.

Tried that, and also tried compatibility mode for both XP and Vista... but thanks for the suggestions everyone...
I think I will just have to live with the XP Mode VM app, which works fine, albeit more slowly than a host-OS install.

I have a Windows 7 laptop and it connects without even running in compatibilty mode or as administrator. I can even sync!
Only problem is I don't see any Itunes playlists when I select to sync with Itunes, anyone of you have Itnues playlist showing? Do they sync ok? I moved my Itunes database (to get it out of my documents) and maybe that is the problem?

Works fine for me, and I can sync itunes playlists.

I had v2 before I updated to v3. It's working fine.
The only difference is I didn't uninstall my v2. I just put v3 on top of it. When I connected my phone, I could see Windows7 immediately looked for the driver and installed it.
I thought the installer would warn me about v2 and aks me to uninstall it, but nop it just went ahead. Now whenever I boot up the v3 is loaded automatically.

I had V2 prior to installing V3. On one PC I ununstalled V2 before installing V3, and on the other I didn't - I just installed V3 without touching V2.
Unfortunately, on both PC's the phone screen says "connected" on the handset Sync menu, and the HTCSync3 UI also automatically pops on on the PC, but says "no device connected".
Thanks to everyone for suggestions. For now, I will just have to stick with my W7 XP Mode VM application install, which works fine.

so is this really a damn point that HTC has problems with it?
my system (win7 ultimate x64) cannot connect to the DHD with HTC Sync 3.0.5481 (wildfire edition).
i tried it so much times. again and again. deleted all drivers, installed it again. nothing.
if i press SYNC-mode when i connect my dhd to my pc, nothing happens.
wrong, there is something happen: there is an "android phone" in my hardware-folder...
but the drivers are WRONG! now, how can i get the REAL drivers, and HOW can i get this work.
the DHD is a very great phone, and i NEED to sync my outlook... this is necessairy!

Don't know about win7 64bit but I use Soocial to sync my contacts over various accounts and it will also sync to Outlook. No solution to calendar or other things tho so sorry

I'm using it also on my x64 Win-7. I've downloaded the drivers from the HTC-site and it just works. I've tried it on my 'old' laptop, and last week at the new laptop I bought and on both it just works the first time.
Try to uninstall all the drivers, then download HTC Sync from the HTC-site and first install the software, then connect your phone. Hopefully that works!

From a fresh install on a machine that hasn't ever seen HTC Sync. Tried to install 3.0. Doesn't detect my HTC Desire. Tried rebooting, unistall/reinstall. I think the new version is bugged. Maybe if previous versions where installed it might work.

Not sure if it's relevant, but I had to disable my antivirus while installing HTC Sync on my Win7 x64 machine.
A lot of software says that, and I usually ignore it with no ill effects, but in this case it really did make a difference. The drivers didn't load correctly until I disabled the antivirus during installation.
So if you didn't disable your AV, it might be worth uninstalling HTC SYnc, disabling your AV, and reinstalling, to see if that makes a difference.

What version of MS Office are you using? I had kind of the same problem (win 7 x64), using office 2010 64 bit. I reinstalled office as 32 bit, and now it works fine..

I used the Sync that came on the SD card of DHD and it worked perfectly fine...i was able to Sync with Outlook etc., I also used to have a Previous version of Sync for Tattoo...that didn't have any impact...
In this case , i think the problem is because of the Wildfire Sync version. Try installing from the SD card, that works like a charm

works for me. using win 7 ultimate (64bit)

must full charged before connect to laptop!
problem with HTC Desire HD, if connect to laptop, it charge and perhaps use more than 500mA (charger is 1A!!) and laptop can't recognize DesireHD, just display unknow periph.
After full charged, and green led, disconnect and immedialtly connect, and HTC sync work.

Working fine here on Win 7 Ultimate 64Bit.
As another poster mentioned, you will not be able to sync with 64bit version of Outlook so please ensure you are using the 32Bit version.
PS I downloaded and installed the latest version of HTC Sync from HTC's website.

HTC ONE M8 Usb is not recognized under windows 7 64-bit enterprise.
tried drivers from HTC sync and tried stand alone drivers.
On a different pc 32bit running windows ultimate it works immidiatly as well as on a VMWARE machine.
any advice please?

The latest version of HTC sync drivers should work. However you will have problems with 3rd party drivers on 64bit systems as they are generally not signed and Windows 64 bit will not allow use of these drivers unless you disabled driver signing enforcement

solved by using 3rd party software (wierrrd)
1. install moborobo http://www.moborobo.com/
2. plug the phone with "Usb debugging" ON
3. Accept the "not signed" driver warning
4. It will now automatically install the driver succesfully after which you can uninstall moborobo and the drivers will still work

Worked fine for me when I installed it on my work laptop running the same version of Win 7. I've got admin rights but explicitly ran the downloaded file as administrator and once I had connection confirmed, I deleted the synch manager portion of the installation (hey, great idea - let's make people download and install 130Meg of files just to get Windows device drivers... NOT)

i actually found another way to work with this...
search google for windows xp mode. it will take you to the microsoft website and it will download a pc virtualizer with xp built in. the software is windows xp 32 bit. i just unlocked my bootloader using this and it works great

Drivers with Windows 10

Hello guys,
I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and I got the surprise that my computer doesn´t recognize my HTC ONE M8.
I installed HTC Sync for get the lastest drivers but it didn´t help. On Windows I go to device manager and it seems it recognize an "Android device" but with a little exclamation that says that there is no drivers for this device.
Anybody had the same problem? How did you fix it?

I had the same driver issue when I was running Win 8.1 Pro. I couldn't get the phone to be recognized.
What I ended up doing is downgrade (or should I say upgrade?) to windows 7. All is well now.
If you keep windows 10, you may have to wait until HTC updates their drivers for the new OS. I'm not familiar with any other solution at the moment.

Actually I installed on my new computer Windows 8.1 Pro edition and I think I´ve never connected my phone to this computer so I cannot tell you if it was working on Windows 8.1.
I think I´ll wait until other pal put a solution.

It works with 8.1, but connection can be really sketchy. Connects and disconnects rapidly, but eventually connects.

Mine works fine in Win10. Are you an admin or regular user?

Same here, no issues at all on a clean win10 install

No issues here with windows 10, 64bit.

Did you do a clean install or just upgraded from a previous version?
Did you install HTC Sync for get the drivers or you installed from other site?

I may have had HTC Sync on before - don't recall. This copy of Win10 was an upgrade install from Windows 7.

Follow that link, and download the file
1. Disable Windows driver signature (option 7 from advanced options)
2. Connect phone to PC
3. Go to device manager, you can find it through cmd prompt or cortana
4. Once in device manager, locate anything that says android usb or something like that ( I cant remember)
5. Update the device driver by looking through your computer for the location of ^ above download zip
I have no tried this yet, but I dont see why it wont work...PM me if you have questions

I just did all of what I described above, and TBH I'm not sure if it would work or not. I do not currently have ADB SDK installed on my laptop, but I have found what appears to be a sound-proof method. Im going to assume the reason you want that connection is because you plan on using adb ? Anyhow, here's the link:
