You don't need to S-OFF to install custom ROMs.
You should be able to flash a recovery now, then from the recovery flash a ROM.
then how can i root this hboot version 1.02.0000 on htc wildfire...??

Just flash a custom recovery then either:
A)flash a custom ROM
B)flash the super user binary, to have a rooted stock ROM.
Sent from my Ainol Novo7 Elf using xda premium
1) flash custom recovery first then do a backup of your original sense rom.
2) Then install superuser from recovery to gain root access
3) install any custom rom you like from development section
root htc wldfire hboot 1.02 s off
Where can we obtained the custum recovery? Where the source...? Any link and guide? From custom recovery and gains root.? Really got no ideal how to do...

okay guys this rom looks awesome, i need a little help flashing though.
i have a rooted desire with oxygen 2.2 and rom manager 3. somthing for my recovery, i have the original h boot and no s-off i was wondering do i need s-off to flash this or can i do it to my original h-boot. there is a stock hboot.zip provided but if i already have it do i need to reflash it.?
can i flash a custom h-boot with no s-off and what will happen if i do?
if i flash this will i loose my root or recovery?
thannks
If you read the first couple posts in the rom thread it says you can use stock hboot with this rom. Also, you must be s-off to change your hboot.

hi everyone
recently i cant install any rom with clockworkmod recovery.
i need help
please help me
Please give us more details. What exactly do you do when install a new rom? Do you get any errors. Furthermore, please post information from your hboot (start phone with pressed back and power button).
at first i wipe my phone, then when i choose the rom and confirm it to install, it just go to the first page of clockworkmod recovery.

Go S-OFF with AlphaRev and flash different recovery via fastboot:

I would recommend to use Revolutionary, but I am not sure if this works if one is already rooted (could not find anything in documentary page). So either you wait until one answers to this or you use AlphaRev.
U can't because ur not s-off ur s-on do a root with unrevoked then ur thing should be
Ship s-off
HBOOT 0.98.0000
And so on

Absolute nonsense!!!!!!!!! You never get S-OFF with unrevoked. Only AlphaRev, AlphaRevX or Revolutionary will set your phone S-OFF.

Try revolutionary ! It will S-Off your phone and install the revolutionary recovery. From then on you can flash other hboots or recovery's
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
revolutionary is not working with hboot 1.03 (1.02 and lower)
I think the only way is downgrade(if possible, don't know the way) and get root/s-off on lower hboot

There is your problem. HTC official method doesn't give you the same freedom unofficial methods do. As far as I know there is no turn back yet, so bad luck for you, inform yourself better next time. htcdev gives you root but leaves hboot locked.
from HTC site:

Why is my security still on (S-On) after I have unlocked my bootloader?
Your device is shipped with Security on (S-ON) to protect your system software configuration (such as the bootloader, radio, boot, recovery, system and others). After you have unlocked the bootloader, however, you will have lifted the restrictions on boot, recovery and system. This means you can customize boot, recovery and system images on your phone as you desire. You can easily see that you have successfully unlocked the bootloader by looking at the top of the screen when entering the bootloader screen. Security is left on to protect things like the radio, and SIM lock.

You can't change your bootloader because you are S-ON and you can't get S-OFF because methods to get S-OFF are based on original bootloaders, by installing HTC's new bootloader you have locked you out of getting S-OFF. HTC does only give you access to boot, recovery and system, is not full S-OFF and that includes a locked bootloader.
yeah you basically screwed yourself by using the official method. Ironic isnt it?
via xda app
Not sure why all the peripheral discussion around here makes it sound as if he's bricked his phone.
OP, I understand you've "successfully" unlocked the bootloader and want to flash cwmr. In that case, the solution is to download a .img image of cwmr, and flash it using the fastboot program:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Or use any of the GUI tools for fastboot.
For all practical purposes, unlocked bootloader ought to be enough for you.
ok problem sovled
This method i have folow with some changes.
1) Unlock phone via HTC official process (registration required)
You are now unlocked S-ON but have no root access on the existing rom, however by doing it the official way you dont need to flash the radio anyway. I used the following steps to get CM7 installed on mine.
2) Downloaded ClockworkMod Recovery 5 (GSM not CDMA)
download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-bravo.img
(i have download instead dl.dropbox.com/u/4518713/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.7.111102-j_r0dd_mod-bravo.zip this from this topic)
(sorry - forum wont let me post urls yet)
3) reboot phone into fastboot
and plug in the usb
4) In the environment you set up for the HTC unlock process enter
(this means put the *.img file you downloaded in this file: C:/Android (with adb, fastboot)
open cmd, type:
"cd c:\Android"
"fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-bravo.img" OR "fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.7.111102-j_r0dd_mod-bravo.img"
5)unplug the usb cable from your phone.
select bootloader press power to select
wait 20 sec
select recovery press power to select
if the flash was successful you will se the ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.0.2.0 OR 5.0.2.7
6) To navigate into ClockWorkMod Recovery
Use trackpad, not power to select
Yes, that's the age old method of flashing via hboot. Nothing new about it.
Android flasher can also be used to flash recovery right? And isn't it much easier?
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
yes, for newbies. For us, we could probably finish flashing by the time you load it.

Yeah Android Flasher is a useful tool as I use it myself but I still believe that the manual way of doing it using command is the best way to go specially if you are having issues.
Hi All
I'm not a complete noob but so much to learn
I've successfully rooted and s-off and custom rom a sensation and a couple of tablets.
However regarding my Desire HD 2.35 GB HBoot 2.00.0029
I have managed to Boot unlock, Root and CWM
So far though I can't s-off
Can I still flash a custom rom or do I have to have s-off ?
Which roms can i flash now?
If not is there an s-off tut for 2.35GB
Thanks
Stu
If you want S-Off you need to do it manually. The automated tool for it, AAHK, has been retired. There's a thread around here with manual instructions, but it's not for noobs. You can flash a custom ROM from recovery if you leave your phone the way it is (as far as I'm understanding, S-On, bootloader unlocked, rooted), but you need to fastboot flash the ROM zip's boot.img each time you flash a new ROM.

Hi.
As the MM 6.0 update is out i would like to try it but as i am not that much active since many months on m9 forum
Hence i need some assistance in updating.
I am using ATT S-on, bootloader unlocked, currently using a custom rom. What I plan to do is
1. S-off first.
2. change the cid to dev edition
3. Flash RUU.exe(through PC)
or
after s-off i flash just the firmware only ..then restore a backup ROM through twrp backup?
my doubt is do i need to be on stock recovery to flash an RUU ?
am i missing any step here?
Thank you
Once you S-Off
Change Cid to Developer Edition
Download the latest Developer Edition RUU. Exe or the RUU. zip which ever method is easier for you.
Then run/install the RUU to convert your AT&T M9 to Developer Edition.
You can leave the custom rom and TWRP Recovery installed as the RUU will over write it.
Once it's done then go to check for ota update should be 6.0 if you installed the latest RUU
