Hi. I recently (like 3 days ago) manually updated t0 4.0.4 on my verizon Galaxy Nexus (I had heard that it fixed teh issue with the radio where the mic cuts out on phone calls randomly) I also decided at that time to change over and try the AOKP rom (installed build 38) and teh Franco kernal Since then I have had two issues and IM just wondering if anyone has any advice/suggestions etc for me.
Issue 1. The radio issue is not fixed (actually my signal strength inn my home is down a bar annoyingly) and during phone calls relatively frequently people stop being able to hear me. It has always done this and I have waited impatiently for 4.0.4 because it was supposed to fix this I thought but it hasnt.
Issue 2. My battery life has gone to crap since I made these changes if I have my phone plugged into a USB port for charging and do thinfgs on my phone..It will drain the battery dry in about 3 hours (for example if I turn on I heart radio or Tune IN and listen to streaming content for 3 hours while my phone is plugged into my usb port on my computer...within 3 hours me (extended) battery will be dry as bones (a non extended battery last maybe 2 hour) Ming you it will keep playing because it plugged in..buyt it will power off the minute I unplug it. I did NOT have this battery issue prior to upgrading to 4.0.4 or loading in AOKP.

I have had my P607T for a couple of months now. It is box stock no changes. Over the last few weeks I have noticed that it will reboot while using various apps. (Fliipboard, Chrome, Clash of Clans, Papyrus...) They don't seem to all be heavy graphics or network. The only symptom is that the screen starts to flash then "bang" reboot (and trouble rebooting when not plugged in). It would not be too annoying except that it will loose wifi settings and the wallpaper. I have tried different wallpapers (saw a thread blaming the live wallpapers ) Unloaded some apps (had another phone issue with FitBit and HTC blink on my N4). I stay away from CoC (my base has been raided so often now ...). Any thoughts? I am really trying to like this tablet more than my old ASUS Transformer but this reboot and reset wifi is a pain.
Thanks in Advance,

Have you tried a factory reset? I'd make tmobile replace it
was hoping to avoid the reset button. Tried it and still giving trouble it rebooted while restoring apps. I bought the tablet on ebay, I don't think TMO will take it back. oh well I'll keep poking about.
thanks,
I experience exactly the same problem since the update to 4.4.2 (kitkat): The screen starts to flash, suddenly the tablet reboots. I tried a factory reset multiple times, also removed the SD card and reflashed the ROM via KIES, nothing helped so far. Also, even when plugged into the outlet for several hours the tablet didn't charge at all (I think it stopped charging when the screen saver kicks in).
A couple of weeks ago I filed a RMA request (my dealer sent the tablet to Samsung), yesterday I got it back. It was charged at 60% and when I plugged it to the outlet it actually charged (even when the screen went off). But after about one hour (the battery was still > 60%) the flashing reappeared and after a while the tablet started to reboot again. Interestingly the battery now showed only 2% and the low battery warning appeared.
I think the problem might occur only when the battery runs low (which happens very fast as something seems to drain the battery), while android still shows a much higher battery level . Never experienced these problems when the tablet was plugged in so far.

At least I don't feel so alone with this issue... I have been paying more attention to my build up process since the factory reset. I found, the other night quite by accident, that when I logged in to Twitter the reboot started. So for the next few days I have left Twitter off the machine and it is doing better. I suspect that something is hitting the power drain (like you mention) and that causes it to have problems. In that thought I have also turned off the power saving mode and auto screen now just to add to the list of things I am avoiding.

Have you considered rooting and using root apps to stop the apps from being able to do such things?
1. Bought it used - c6502. Phone arrived with around 10% battery, everything looked fine and then it kept shutting off every time I tapped the camera icon. It was on android 4.4.2
2. Charged to 100%, after hard resetting (using the button next to the microsd slot) couple times, it finally turned on, updated to 4.4.4, used it whole day without any problem and then google play services, xperia home, camera common or something simlar and whole bunch of craps stopped working when battery was around 20%. Phone was STILL on. So I turned off the phone and can't turn it back on now. Tried the hard reset button, Sony & the xperia logo show up, then I see the gray screen only. The on screen charging indicator shows around 3 bars which should be good enough to power up the phone, but it doesn't turn on! I'll let charge it fully and try again.
Can a bad battery stop all these services? or is it a software issue? As I said the phone was still on when all these services started crashing.
After reading some other threads, it feels like some kernels have battery drain issues ( I even don't know which kernel mine is running, used it for a day only). Should I try to flash a different kernel? Could you name a few that don't have battery drain issues? Or should I just get a new battery?
Thanks!
Up to now I'm happy with my Z1C.
But in the last weeks the battery drain went up.
Before that I could get a day and a half to two days of use , I am a moderate user during the day.
Most of the time wifi is off, 4g is off but bluetooth is on, day and night.
Before I had bluetooth turned off when not in the car.
But because I bought a Smartband talk I switched bluetooth to on without turning it off again.
Up to last week the battery was draining faster because of the bluetooth use but it was still good enough for me.
The last weeks / months I downloaded a lot more music on the external card and switched USB use to MSC so I could use it in my car. I listened to music in the car when driving to and from my workplace (1 hour drive single way).
Because it was charging in the morning and in the evening I did not notice any abnormal behavior.
Before I started to use the phone as a mediaplayer in the car I could get 1.5 to 2 days.
When using it as a mediaplayer this did not change, probably because of the charging in the car
Now I switched from workplace and stopped listening to music in the car.
Now my phone lasts for 0.8 up to 1 day max.
When looking at the battery stats it seems to me the mediaserver was eating up a lot.
So I deleted all data from the phone and I did a reset to factory settings. I also removed 80% of the music on the external sd card.
But even then I get a battery drain from 30-35% in about 7 hours time during the night.
I'm running again with only necessary apps installled.
So for the time being no xposed modules, no smartband talk and only switching bluetooth on when using the phone in the car.
But the problem does not seem to be solved.
I have a weak signal at home (1 bar), I had a weak signal at my previous workplace (1 bar) and I have a weak signal at my current workplace (als 1 bar max).
I wonder what is eating the battery so fast?
Is it the weak signal?
Is it because I charged the battery too much (every morning and evening in the car)?
Is my battery dying?
Is it related to an app (multiple apps)?
I have this phone since april 2014.
I am on 14.4.A.0.108 / unlocked / rooted with the doomkernel v22.
So can anybody tell me what monitoring app to use and how to interprete the results from such an app?
I'm in stamina mode.
Estimated lifespan battery is at 2 days when an actual battery percentage of 42%.
I already have betterbatterystats but I do not know if this is the best app for monitoring.
Is there something else I have to look into?
Today I was trying to get my settings in the state I need them to be and when looking at power management / battery usage I can see the screen is the biggest battery user but that seems normal in the current situation.
What about deep sleep, how to monitor this?
How to identify apps being the biggest battery consumers?
What about the apps in manage notifications, there's a lot of them, will it help disabling some / a lot of them?
I really like to get back to charging the phone only once every 2 days.
Any help would really be appreciated.

Better Battery Stats is you friend, it will help you locate what it depleting your battery and keeping your phone awake, as well as listing the deepsleep times .
If you have a rooted phone download Disableservice from the playstore. Reading your post you use a fitness tracker so disabling all of these might not work, but it's worth a go.
Once it's installed, open the system tab, open Google Play Services, then untick (disable) the following:
ConfigFetchService
FitnessSyncAdapterService
GoogleLocationManagerService
GoogleLocationService
NetworkLocationService
ProximitySettingInjectorService
UserPresenceService
WearableControlService
WearableService
WearableSyncService
then reboot your phone.
Disabling these from running should have no impact on your phone, it doesn't for me, and will give you 10-15% more battery life.
Turning of sync on your Gmail also saves a lot of battery, especially if you live in a poor reception area, as it polls the Gmail server every few minutes. Likewise sync on your normal emails. It means you have to check yourself to see if you have any mail, but will put a few extra hours on your battery.
The other thing that extended my battery life was deleting the cached data. Settings\Storage and hold down on Cached data until you get a popup asking you to delete it. I know it sounds bizarre, but it really worked.
Try putting a stock kernel back in for a few days and see if that makes a difference.
Hi guys,
starting from about a week ago I'm experiencing some problems with my Galaxy Grand Duos.
All has begun with the touch screen: when I try to trace the unlock sequence it seems to lose the contact with the finger so I've to try more and more times. Also with the normal use of the touch with other apps it is not working as before.
Now it's from a couple of days that the phone, with a battery charge of more than 80%, suddenly automatically power off.
When I try to turn on the phone it turns off again and again, and the battery level of charge seems to be randomly generated each time.
If I'm connected to a wifi network, after a random times of reboot it restart to work, always with battery level and touch issues.
Otherwise if it's using 3G data battery lows down to 2-3% and the phone can not stat anymore on and turns off.
Battery consumption app doesn't show anything strange: screen 29%, multimedia 18%, play services 14%, Android OS 13% and so on.
The Android version is the original 4.2.2, kernel 3.0.31-1226815. The phone has never been flashed or customized.
I'm thinking about replacing the battery, but I'm in doubt how it can be related to the touch screen issue. Can you help me?
Can I use EB-L1G6LLUCSTD battery, which is for SIII but is 2100mAh as EB535163LU?
Thank you all in advance!

Touch screen issue is directly related to your battery. Take a good look at your battery to see if it's swelled. When the battery is swelled the phone tend to bend a bit because of the pressure, hence the touch sensitivity goes haywire.
Remove the back cover while the phone is turned on (don't remove battery) and see if touch issue is still there. My guess is, you have to replace your battery, If mentioned battery fit's your grand and voltage is the same, there's no doubt you can use it.
Hi, whenever I'm on a call on WhatsApp, Messenger, or any other social media, I can't use any internet related apps or my call starts dropping, and the other app also stop connecting to the server or whatsoever. As an example, I can't check FB, or use Chrome while on a call. Sometimes WiFi connection just disconnect and reconnect after a little while of trying to use two apps together while on a call. It also happened back in MiUi 11 android 10, I don't remember if it was on Android 9, but most likely. Am I the only one with this issue? I can surf internet on my pc even watch videos on YouTube without affecting the call quality on the phone, so my internet speed has nothing to do with it. Locked bootloader, MiUi 12, formatted after installing the new OS to make it trouble free, but nothing helped. Can anyone please tell me if I can downgrade this to an earlier version without getting this bricked? I know I have to unlock the bootloader, but I'm confused with that anti-rollback index or whatever it is called. Also Battery usage was 2 days before MiUi 12 with 8-10 hours display on time and now it's just one day. Appreciate your help. This is my first Xiaomi device and will be the last
1. There is a known issue with Wifi interference when Bluetooth is on. Are you using BT when talking on whatsapp? Unfortunately based on my research this is a hardware problem involving the wifi 2.4 Ghz and BT radios which interfere with each other and cannot be fixed via a software update. Downgrading will not help, and is a pain in the a** anyway because of Xiaomi's restrictions. A workaround is to use 5 Ghz (which is a different frequency than BT) or turn BT off when you need good wifi bandwidth.
2. For most people including myself battery usage is about the same with MIUI 12 as with 11 so if you are seeing a significant difference, your best option is to install Acubattery and try to determine which one of your apps is draining the battery. This is almost always the cause. There should not be more than a slight decrease compared to MIUI 11. Should be about 40 hrs including about 10 hrs SOT.
1. Thanks for the info.
2. It's weird, I never had the same battery usage on MiUi 12 even before I format the mobile. Also I've used Accu Battery app more than a week and each day after 80%-90% charge session, it started to drop battery health by 1% for last 3 days I used and I simply deleted the app finding it useless or it's my lack of knowledge ?
With Accubattery were you able to see which service or app was draining? Was the phone going into idle/sleep mode?
