[Q]Hypersensitive power button - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I just got KF, and feels like the power button is really sensitive. I just have to swipe it to turn the screen on/off, and any longer touch prompts for power off. Is it suposed to be like this?

Mine does the same thing. It gets really annoying. Not sure if it's suppose to do that.

Test screen press

Hi can someone here test if you see a red violet spot on screen when pressing a little harder in the bottom corner of the screen right above the search button. It only does it in that corner more visible on a white screen for me and not anywhere else. So I'm just wondering if this is normal.

I see no spot on mine... just tried it
It's just like when you touch a regular pc lcd monitor, you have to press right above the search button where the off starts.

App to activate screen?

The power button on my wife's HTC Desire is faulty and becomes unresponsive at times.
When this happens, it means sge cannot get access to the phone unless she either plugs in/unplugs charger, receives a call or removes/reinserts battery (phone will power up automatically when button playing up)
Phone is out of warranty and cannot get repaired right now, so what i want to know is, does anyone know of an app that can be installed that could set other buttons on the phone to activate screen when screen is off?
Any advice would be appreciated

Thank you all for your responses, i have installed widgetlocker (on desire and my own galaxy s).
on the initial start up it does advise to go unto settings to be able to set any hardware key to activate screen. But i cannot find the settings :-\ the menu icon only locks the screen as does the icon in status bar.
Can you please help me find the settings?

Open widgetlocker from your app draw. This will cause the lockscreen to appear but is actually 'tool mode'.
Now press your menu button > settings > buttons and inputs > check Easy Wake. Done.

But all sorted, my wife is a happy bunny now, many thanks :-D

[Q] display question

I'm not too sure exactly what you mean, but check
Settings / display / screen timeout
Make sure never turn off is NOT selected.

Are you using stock charger, and is it same through ac and usb?
Weird, but I feel it's something simple.

Excellent, don't know why I forgot about that one. Maybe it's the jetlag and no sleep for nearly 2 days. Glad it's sorted.
Edit: knew it was something simple.

[Q] Accidently dropping a call with your cheek

Hello guys
Me and friends using DHDs are having the same problem.
Sometimes hangup the calls with cheeks or ear or ....
Especially it is annoying then you in rush with something, receive important call, hold your phone between shoulder and ear and .............. after some time you accidentally press END CALL button.
It is the biggest minus having touchscreen phone.
The thing is that screen turn offs after some time of talking but it turns on again as you are moving around.
Did anyone find out how to solve this misery?
Would be grateful.
Regards
Pashkustva
Sounds like an issue with the proximity sensor, if I hold mine wrong I tend to turn on loudspeaker with my face. It's tweaked in some of the ROM's I believe - are you running a ROM or still on Stock?
Hi, thanks for responce.
I have rooted sence 3.0 Rom by nitr0. But this problem is not dependant on my rom as before i had original virgin mobile branded rom and the problem still persists.

By the way.
Are there any way of adjusting proximity sensor?

Definitely a proximity issue. On CM7 I also had the issue of putting calls on hold with my cheek! You can remove the hold button in the call options.
yes. my screen turns off only when i close proximity sensor totally. though it should do it in a distance.
Unfortunately indigolemon's posted app does not work on my kernel. as my radio is 12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M. and Kernel 2.6.35.10.

In cm7, this accidental hold was a b**ch before i removed it; but it took me quite some time to figure it out

My phones screen sometimes stops working, it won't turn on but I know the phone is working because the capacitive menu buttons light up when I press the power button. Also hboot works perfectly.
Btw this happens on whichever romantic I flash.
