Hello guys
Me and friends using DHDs are having the same problem.
Sometimes hangup the calls with cheeks or ear or ....
Especially it is annoying then you in rush with something, receive important call, hold your phone between shoulder and ear and .............. after some time you accidentally press END CALL button.
It is the biggest minus having touchscreen phone.
The thing is that screen turn offs after some time of talking but it turns on again as you are moving around.
Did anyone find out how to solve this misery?
Would be grateful.
Regards
Pashkustva
Sounds like an issue with the proximity sensor, if I hold mine wrong I tend to turn on loudspeaker with my face. It's tweaked in some of the ROM's I believe - are you running a ROM or still on Stock?
Hi, thanks for responce.
I have rooted sence 3.0 Rom by nitr0. But this problem is not dependant on my rom as before i had original virgin mobile branded rom and the problem still persists.

By the way.
Are there any way of adjusting proximity sensor?

Definitely a proximity issue. On CM7 I also had the issue of putting calls on hold with my cheek! You can remove the hold button in the call options.
yes. my screen turns off only when i close proximity sensor totally. though it should do it in a distance.
Unfortunately indigolemon's posted app does not work on my kernel. as my radio is 12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M. and Kernel 2.6.35.10.

In cm7, this accidental hold was a b**ch before i removed it; but it took me quite some time to figure it out

While talking to the phone if I receive an incoming call the screen will show me who's calling and provide options for answering (put on hold current call) or decline to answer.
Thing is that whatever I choose the phone will stuck for a moment and won't be able to answer the incoming call nor continue to talk to the current one. Anyone else experiencing the same.
I hope froyo fixes this.

Hi. When I wake my Desire, the screen is blank. However, the 4 hard keys are lit up, and a tiny crack at the bottom of the screen is lit up. When I put my finger at the slide to unlock, there is a small vibration, indicating that the phone is responsive but not the display. Issue persists after taking out the battery and reinserting.
Thanks in advance.
You mean that your screen doesn't work at all, or at wake up only?

I'm guessing that your screen is broken (not the touch panel, the actual screen) because mines dropped the other day and the same thing was happening so I replaced the screen and it works fine now

Was it covered by your warranty? Where did you replace the screen?
Well if it didn't worked when you got the phone and/or you haven't messed with it (did not drop, change radio...) (eg. it stopped working one day) and the warranty is valid,I don't see why it shouldn't be covered..
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I didn't bother with the warranty, I just got it replaced at a local phone shop
You could just order a screen online and try it yourself but make sure you order the right screen

The exact same thing happened to me too. It went into service, they've replaced the screen and the motherboard (wtf?), and now it's all ok, all of this free of charge. Don't bother buying the screen yourself, just go the easy way. It might take a bit longer, but it sure is cheaper.

Sorry just re-read my post, didn't mention what setting you had to calibrate.
In the Display settings under G-Sensor calibration. Make sure you place it on a flat surface.
i have tried it now but what is it to do with the screen sensor?
i havr just checked if it helps and it didnt :-(

It's the tiny hole at the bottom of the phone to the right of the microUSB port.

try plugging headphones into yr phone, try to call someone. If they can hear you say it means that your microphone is broken.

Has anyone ran into issue where you make a call screen goes dark like it's supposed to however if you want to end call screen won't come back on until call ends on the other side. So if person doesn't answer I have to wait till voice mail picks up and hangs up on me after it times out.

Tried the power or the home button ?
Is your fone rooted ?

It generally happens when I put it on my ear. Otherwise it is always on.

Phone isn't rooted. I have tried to hit all the buttons including power to turn it back on after it dims out and still nothing. I'm thinking of doing business factory reset but I rather avoid it if I could.

It happens when you place your finger or any part of the body near the sensor.

Got a screen protect covering the proximity sensor? Yours might be too sensitive. I had the same problem with my n4. Solution was no protector or wait till dearth or whatever brand you use to not cover the sensor. That was the first and only phone I ever had that issue though.

Did reset still same issue. I'll try without case, however I have had no issues with case till now.

Also heard of this bug in a German Android forum: there have been some users reporting the same problem without screen protector or case. Still don't know why this happened but You're not the only one with this bug

You can always go into the accessibility settings and set the phone to end a call when you hit the power button

Yesterday I wanted to read a numberplate from a picture to the person I was talking to. Had to text it to him later because the screen wouldn't turn on.

Enter *#0*# in the keypad to open the "test menu".
Press the Sensor tile and test your proximity sensor's function bij moving a finger over it.
If it does not change value from 0 to 1 and make the screen go green, your proximity sensor is likely to be broken.
Replacing the front camera (which houses the proximity senor) will then fix your problem.

I went into store today to speak to a tech that used to work with when I was a sales rep @ sprint. He told he has seen issue a couple of times. He says when that happens its a sensor issue. More common with fones that where 1st shipped out. He could of replaced it if I wanted but he wanted to avoid giving me a refurb. He did a couple of tests and it's been working since. He suggested if it happens again to bring it back again.

Works after a reboot. Seems to be the solution to every problem with that sensor.
