VZW Soft Keys/Navigation Bar Mod? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I've searched through many threads now, and come up empty handed. I'm looking to change the navigation bar / soft key buttons. What I would like is:
Menu : Home : Back : Search
Long pressing home would bring up recents.
Does a mod like this exsist?

Well I was running a different rom based off CM9, however when I went to the official CM9, it's easy to switch those buttons.
Settings --> System --> Navigation Bar.
Problem solved.

Download AOKP and super problem solved.

I'be made my home button open S Voice when held down. =p
IPhone style.

Possible to add a full size menu button to ICS?

Is it possible to add a full size menu button much like the search button was added. I tried ICS on an older phone and the menu button seemed to work in even the native apps. I hate the look of the dot one that comes up in stock ics and with the mod to make it appear all the time. Ideal for me would be to make the button layout identical to my droid incredible. So home, menu, back, and search. Hold home down for the app switch. Hold menu for keyboard. Hold search for voice search. This has to be possible somehow since its all software keys now.

Sense 4.0 Multitasking Remap

I am sure many of you have seen reviews for the HTC One X. HTC constructed their device so that it has three capacitative buttons. Contrary to the usual array of capacitative buttons of Menu, Home and Back (sometimes Search as a fourth button), HTC opted for an unusual back, home and recents (multitasking display).
On the One X, if the phone opens up an application that requires a legacy menu button, the phone pulls up a software nav bar that has a single menu software button:
http://www.androidcentral.com/htc-on...se-menu-button
This configuration is possible on the i9000 through the following mods:
1) Remapping the Menu capacitative button to a Multitasking button:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1450138
2) An autohiding nav bar with nothing but a menu button. I don't think an auto hiding nav bar has been implemented in a ROM as of yet, but AOKP roms allow for the manual hiding of the navbar. Problem is that when the navbar is hidden the os doesn't show those wonderful in app menu buttons in ics apps.
I tried the first mod out but can't for the life of me figure out how to mod source code (The limitations of a noob *sigh*). The result is a successful remapping of the menu key to a multitasking key but instead of opening up the ICS multitasking display I open up an old school gingerbread task switcher. Yuck. Unfortunately I don't have the android prowess to attempt the second mod. So this is a request for someone to implement this mod in an apk or a rom. Thanks for your time.
Now in Theme & Apps section, thanks .

+1 I support this
Edit: posted in wrong thread.
I hate having to long-press to multitask, I want this mod work properly on AOKP
Thanks to developpers!
Could somebody explain to me how to mod source code so I can attempt this mod?

[Q] [WhatIsYour] Softbutton Configuration

just curious what everyone uses...
I have mine configured as:
back (kill app) ; home (recents) ; search (voice search)....with invisible menu keys on both sides
Home, recent, back, search.
I came from a droid incredible. I love my onscreen buttons on my nexus so much. My next phone which is a while off since I love my nexus has to have on screen buttons.
back (kill), home (blank), menu (search)
came from nexus s and hard for me to say goodbye to the permanent menu button. Recents I never use. Up until a few days ago I had search as a 4th button but decided to get rid of it as I don't use it that much.
back (kill app) : phone (contacts) : home (recents) : camera (camcorder) : search (voice search)
Gotta love AOKP
back (kill app), home (recents), menu (search)
There's still a huge amount of apps that haven't been updated for ICS, so it makes more sense to have a dedicated menu button for now.

[Q] Volume keys in menu bar

I saw a thread with a picture of another tablet that has soft volume keys built into the rom's menu bar. I have searched a lot for the post, but I was never able to remember where I saw it.
My question is: Are there any roms with this function? I know there are quite a few with this built into the quick settings, but I haven't seen any with a plus and minus key built into the menu bar. I would love to see this at some point.

disable Navigation Bar in LineageOS

Hello! I'm hoping that I can disable the soft navigation bar, and go to a more traditional Fire OS style of navigation, using swipe navigation.
I found a post caliming that "PImp my rom" can disable the nav bar, but it didn't seem to respond to the tweak option, and I still have the soft nav bar
Thank you,
cheers

But expandable Desktop doesnt set the on screen keys to disable, only hide. They'll still show if you're swiping up.
Adding a new line with qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 to root/system/build.prop with a text editor Will permanently disable on-screen keys. It would have been handy if there was a UI shortcut for that somewhere.
Anyway I force-disabled Screen buttons, set Double tap to recent apps, and hold button to google now. Then bought the app you suggested to set all 3 swipe from bottom gestures to mimic the back function. Now the navigation feels just like FireOS's except amazon search assistant is replaced with google and I love it.

Using a prop editor, I was able to add h qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 to root/system/build.prop <-- fantastic fix
I then customized the home button to do double tap-- app library, and hold-- switch back to last app.
Swipe Navigation works wonders, just as Chocolina stated above
Better solution
If you want to completly disable navigation bar soft keys then you must install slim kat,you can easily completly disable the soft keys and can add swipe up navigation just like amazon..i m also using slim kat rom and i have personally tested all roms but look wose slim kat is the best rom and no bugs in it..i have also disabled the system navigation keys and added swipe up to go back and hold home button for recent apps.
