Basically I'm a Galaxy Note user but recently won a Google's contest for high-school programmers called Googel Code-in for which I and 9 others with one of their guardians were invited to Mountain View and San Francisco CA to their HQ (Googleplex) for a free trip of 4 days. At the last day of the trip they basically handed out a Galaxy Nexus for free, so I've switched to the Nexus for now and am looking forward to flashing ROMs and kernels!
Wow hope you enjoyed the experience and congratulations on the new nexus .

If the app is coded properly, like YouTube, the buttons disappear during full screen usage. Typically for videos. There are also mods and roms that make it possible to hide them at will.

When you say hide... video takes that part of the screen?
Im using a tablet with onscreen buttons (ics), and on apps like youtube, onscreen buttons change to a small dot for every button, but video wont take that part of the screen.
I know there are apps for properly hide the onscreen buttons, but Im curious how it works on gnexus.

In YouTube and NetFlix's case, the navigation bar hides on fullscreen video.
I took a quick video for a demonstration rather than digging through YouTube for ages:

My apologies for the rather poor image quality and shakycam effect.
Thanks, that video cleared all my doubts It´s not that bad as I was thinking.
Since you people talking about softkeys, I use AOKP for the sake of the Navbar height editing ! I make it small. To get more of the screen!
I hope the next nexus has a bigger screen...I'm an x note user too...And I got used to it's big screen. The Gnex looks small to me now even after 3 weeks of use...But to be honest, it runs ICS much better than the note. Nor than my X S2, and S1. This is the best performing device I have ever had to date...

Technically, Nexus was designed for ICS and it's perhaps the first device I've used which has native ICS that doesn't suck (Note has one too, but it sucks due to TW). I haven't used HTC One series phones so can't say, but they seem pretty fast too.

I think we need to be more imaginative here guys. My sgs2 had a better camera and also had screen shots! Let's think of UNIQUE ICS features. Like Face Unlock ...
I like the way it looks - feels sleek and futuristic (phone and ICS both). Previous builds were ugly and looked outdated.
As far as features, I like the potential of on screen keys as well as how it looks. I abhor the non Nexus buttons on all other android phones.
Personally I love the ability to put funny backgrounds in video chat via talk It's hilarious As far as I'm concerned this feature is SGN specific

Slimness of the phone and overall physical device.
The on screen buttons. They give the phone a much sleeker look whilst also minimizing the size of the phone. I also like how the buttons can disappear to give a bigger screen when needed.

Showed my sister the phone and we compared the browsing speed with her Iphone4S.

The Answer Call screen where I can choose to send preconfigured text messages as reply. GOD BLESS! Uses it several times each day during working hours.
Hardware acceleration.
The recent apps implementation with WebOS-like cards is nice too.
The ability to swipe away recent apps and notifications to get rid of them features prominently on my list.
Resizeable widgets are also nice, and are unique to ICS on phones at least.
Sent from The Past into The Future via The Present.
Zero (almost) delay shutter speed on the camera is a welcome change coming from my DroidX. Wish the picture quality was a little better, but it's not bad. I suppose that's what the SLR is for.
Also, loving Google wallet. So far today, Google has bought me; a cup of coffee, a bag of lettuce and a can of folgers... all for installing the wallet app. It always seems to get an amusing reaction when i use it in front of people. Enjoy the novelty before others start jumping on the bandwagon.
Just got my GN today. Took it out of the box, played with it for about 20 seconds, then rooted and flashed AOKP and Franco kernel. Been playing around with it all day and I got to say, this thing is awesome. Super slick screen and nav bar, lightweight natural feel in the hands, performance....all down to the small details like how the vibration feels different from other phones. I am in love with this phone so far and want to thank the dev community for making it even better! Long live android!!

I read this on Yahoo News:
HTC’s (2498) rumored DROID Incredible X smartphone has allegedly been chosen as one of Google’s (GOOG) upcoming Nexus devices, according to a report from GSM Arena. Google is widely expected to have not one but five new Nexus devices available to consumers this fall. Earlier this year, the search giant partnered with ASUS (2357) to release the Nexus 7 tablet, the first Nexus-branded device of 2012. The Mountain View-based company has reportedly partnered with HTC to produce the Google “Nexus 5″ smartphone.
The device is said to be running Android 4.1.2 — which includes bug fixes, Project Butter improvements, additional lock screen functionality and other tweaks — and is said to be equipped with a 5-inch 1080p full HD display and a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. The company’s first phablet will also feature “a super slim design” and a large 2,500 mAh battery, 4G LTE connectivity, up to 64GB of internal storage and a 12-megapixel rear camera.

i chose the galaxy nexus because it was relatively cheap.
the entire phone is compromised by the AWFUL speaker.
it basically destroys the ability of the phone to be a portable media player - and wearing headphones in bed isn't desirable.
it totally sucks.
as a result, im now waiting to buy the next google phone, and waste yet more money...just because of the speaker.
i'd be willing to pay some electronics wizkid £50 to do some sort of speaker mod for the galaxy nexus. I bet it'd prove very popular.

Keep in mind that the Galaxy S line has been a huge success from the S, to the S3. With each one you only ever see them improving on what the last one had. The S4, is essentially a way faster S1.
Like the iPhone 5, it is essentially a way faster iPhone3G.
What you'll notice is that you'll only find drastic changes to the design if what was previously done didn't sell well.
Think about Nokia and Windows Phone. They've had so little success that they had to go for broke and change everything about their phones. Even Sony took the 'Ericsson' out of their brand to ditch the bad rep and start anew.
The S3 was insanely popular, so the S4 will only have incremental changes. If the S3 had a physical home key and was so successful, why take it out?

Like the iPhone 5, it is essentially a way faster iPhone3G.
What you'll notice is that you'll only find drastic changes to the design if what was previously done didn't sell well.
Think about Nokia and Windows Phone. They've had so little success that they had to go for broke and change everything about their phones. Even Sony took the 'Ericsson' out of their brand to ditch the bad rep and start anew.
The S3 was insanely popular, so the S4 will only have incremental changes. If the S3 had a physical home key and was so successful, why take it out?

i understand what youre saying as far as designs go. i just hate buttons is all. but as far as popularity goes apple had it right with the iphone 4, and even being an adamant hater of all things apple, i still like how the iphone 4 looks and feels in the hands. but for now im gonna stick with my n4 and pretend to be pretentious because i paid half and got it unlocked
