Just got my GN today. Took it out of the box, played with it for about 20 seconds, then rooted and flashed AOKP and Franco kernel. Been playing around with it all day and I got to say, this thing is awesome. Super slick screen and nav bar, lightweight natural feel in the hands, performance....all down to the small details like how the vibration feels different from other phones. I am in love with this phone so far and want to thank the dev community for making it even better! Long live android!!
Haha I did the same thing today. I was all ready to root waiting for ups delivery. Can't put it down! Oh and MassEffect: Infiltrator looks amazing on this screen great game.

I'm so glad to see this thread! I get my phone in 30 minutes! UPS gets to my company every day at 9 AM. Just waiting for the guy from the mailroom to walk to my desk so I can be like
"Hur hur hur my plan for world domination begins"
And then turn on this beast of a phone
Same, it's awesome. It's just a shame the phone is so damn large. One-handed operation is really awkward and/or danger-prone.

I agree that the device is a little too large, but the size becomes worth it when playing games or watching videos.
I'm also a brand new Galaxy Nexus owner, and this is honesty the best experience I've had with a phone so far. It's just so fast with no lag to be found anywhere, and I'm still on the stock ROM.

You have that because you don't own a Galaxy Nexus.

Does CM9 have any features that AOKP doesn't, besides DSP?
I still can't put this phone down after all these months. Its the best device I've owned.

AOKP has more features, CM9 is a tad smoother. Take your pick.
Skankwich is a good compromise has a little more than cm9. Usually has cherry picks from cm9 that haven't yet been merged in. Besides cm9 audio files are better.

I was surprised when the HD MKV playback of this device is smoother than the faster Exynos 1.4 of the Note, maybe due to the IVA3 media accelerator according to wikipedia.

Try using a Razr. This phone is way better for one handed operation.
I traded my Razr for the GN. I LOVE this phone too. I dont think I will need another phone for a looong time.

So today I started the long journey of leaving Apples Mobile Grasp and jumped back into Android buy purchasing a Galaxy Nexus! So just wanted to introduce myself!
Phone History:
Mytouch 3G < Mytouch 4g & Nexus One < iPhone 4 < Galaxy Nexus!
I miss my nexus phones and found the lack of customization's and access to all parts of the phone to be a deal breaker when it came to apple.
Can't wait to get my hands dirty with my galaxy nexus!
welcome, but i am getting tired with my nexus, it just works, i hate that , with my previous phone the Galaxy S i had to flash very often new roms and i was never fully happy with it
With the Nexus the first thing i did after buying it, was to unlock bootloader, flash cwm, flash AOKP and then leankernel, after that nothing todo anymore it just works what a crap
So have fun with your new phone, i never was that happy with a phone which i had before.

Nice dude welcome! Just got mine yesterday and I love it. It feel so good in the hand plus I got a case on it and it doesn't even feel that its there. I would recommend Franco's kernel and ARHD or Milestone 4 AOKP Rom. Enjoy!
Congrats! How are you liking it? Hows the battery life and everything? I'm coming from a desire HD and I'm really considering buying a Galaxy Nexus and I just wanted to get some info from a user who has one!

I understand that completely! My iPhone you jailbreak it but to be honest the only thing I did was get SIRI on it and thats all. No really nice customizations imo. I guess coming from Android to iPhone i just wasn't satisfied. Hopefully I can have some fun with my nexus =P
Got mine the other day as well it works too good and smooth out of the box for a Android phone lol. I think I've had 1 force close in the week I've had it. It's so smooth.
Only gripe is battery is OK if your power using it, but no biggie because I can by a extra battery and get 18hrs! Also it's very thin & light in the hand, I have big hands though. But I'm gonna solve that easily with a nice Spigen ultra capsule or ultra hybrid case. Can't decide!
I'm enjoying mine so much already and I haven't even rooted yet! I really wanted to test the out of box experience for a few days, very impresses. I'm coming for a AT&T Galaxy Note. Nowhere near as smooth as the Nexus!
Enjoy!
Welcome back and enjoy your journey
I recommend AOKP and Miui

I bought mine about 2 weeks ago, and I still love it. I had a HTC Wildfire before, so it's a huge upgrade for me.
The battery life depends on what you're going to do with it. If you set brightness at 100% and start playing 3D games, you can drain the battery to 0% in a couple of hours.
If I use it for listening 3 hours a day music, checking news 10 times a day, having some whatsapp conversations, gaming < 15 minutes, it lasts a day.
If you don't like Sense or Touchwiz, I'd recommend you a Galaxy Nexus. It's fast, beatiful and works great.
Yes, there are some known bugs, but Google is releasing updates and fixes way faster than HTC and Samsung.

Well said with the battery. Basically I get the same results. Just get a extra OEM battery for $30 if you wanna power use it daily or for trips or long days and such.
Congrats! I also just got my Nexus 3 days ago and I'm really happy with the way it performs. I'm coming from mostly Touchwiz devices (SGS, SGS II, Ace, SGW). The stock ICS is just the best. I just flashed CM9 nightly and it is blazing fast and stable. Might get hands dirty with some other ROMs too in the future. Enjoy!

I jumped on the cdma nexus as well coming from an Intl note. the smaller screen will take time to get used to (still hoping I'll get over that) but lte speed is about 5x that of att. unfortunately, I might need an iPad to complement it.

Lol I know exactly what you mean by smaller screen. I also come from a note ( intl' version) so any other phone becomes small. I remember a few months back when I bought the T-mobile Galaxy SII and I thought the screen was huge at 4.5 inch lol. Using the note is something else. But the nexus is amazing, it is the perfect size of a smartphone and feels great in the hand. It is the only device that I have ever had that doesn't feel bulky with a case on, just fits like a glove! I have an iPad 3 so a nexus plus that is just flawless victory.

Congrats I just bought mine too off of craiglist in perfect condition, it was too good a deal to pass up. First thing I would recommend is definitely a case because the phone is so thin its definitely easier to drop it. The OEM extended battery is also a great investment as its bigger and does not add any thickness to the phone plus you can use the original as a spare or a backup battery.
Hey guys, trading my sensation, cash and accessories for a gnex. There's only a certain amount you can learn from reading online reviews.
How is this phone practically in terms of speed and other things.
Also are there any negatives to this phone at all? I've heard of problems with the screen but don't really know what they are......
Thanks

Speed is awesome. Great display. Cool features when rooted like adding nav bar buttons or adding long press features. Great development community. I loved my sensation and I love this phone a million times more. AOSP for the win.
The only thing I really miss about the sensation is the weight it had to it... nit saying that it was a bad phone I just like the nexus a lot better

My wife just surprised me with a gnex, after having owned a sensation for a year. All I can say is I love this phone. The size/shape is amazing as well as the weight. The sound so far is great (speaker is much better), but the only thing I find lacking is colors. It's a hit too blue, but having owned a vibrant, it's not a big deal.
Surprising though, I haven't made a single call on it yet.
But all in all, I love it. There is just no way to describe it.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
It's definitely a big upgrade I came from the sensation and I'm loving it so far. The display is AWESOME. Besides obvious upgrades I've noticed the speaker is way better call quality is better. On screen buttons are way sweet
The camera isn't half bad it has in my opinion brighter colors and the no shutter lag is awesome.
Also I hated that the sensation would get dust under the screen and when it would creek when I would hold it tight also it had a horrible grip of death
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
My screen has that purple hue thing that many others complain about. But after seeing it for the first time, I realized that many of those who complained are just way picky bc it doesn't bothered one bit.
Also perhaps the battery drains a little quick, but I haven't had another Android handset that's performed that much better in that arena.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I also rocked a Sensation for some months. The only thing I miss about it is the fm radio, and microsd slot. Mind you the original sensation had no user accessible storage on board, but I'm kinda used to having 32GB, 16GB is barely adequate these days.
I like the gnex screen better, it's much easier to read in sunlight.
Unlike the Sensation this phone actually feels smooth and fast like a dual core phone should.
As Geoff already mentioned, the speaker is the greatest improvement over the Sensation. I can actually hear text messages come thru when it's in my pocket, no more pulling it out every little while to see if someone has called and I just didn't hear it ring.
I also love the soft buttons. Being able to run cm9 or aokp ROM and mod them is awesome.
Two of my favourite developers from the Sensation, kmobs and romanbb have gnex phones now.
This phone is much easier to root and mod than the sensation. You don't even have to unlock the bootloader unless you want to use fastboot commands.
I wasn't do sure about the plastic build on this but it's actually very well done, looks sexy and fits your hand very well.
The camera may not be as good as the sensation but it's still very good - fast and good clear photos.
All in all this phone is amazing and I'm not looking back.

I have very little qualms about my GNex if any. 16GB "can" be a little but I've learned to live with it by making use of various cloud services. Also, no physical camera button. Not really a deal breaker for me but just something to note if you like taking pictures a lot. Other than that, it's a great phone. Zero lag. Love the no physical button thing too. It makes the phone look sexy when the screen is off. Lol.

Howdy Note 2 owners,
I decided to return my HOX and ordered the Note 2 from Amazon. It is supposed to be here next Tuesday :good:
So I would like to ask for feedback from you guys those who have used this phenomenal device. What do you like most of it? And what you don't like?
Any suggestion or tips for new owners?
Thank you so much
If you are okay with the size, there simply isn't anything better.
I'd suggest coming in assuming you can't use it one handed. If you can, consider that a bonus.
You'll be more pleasantly surprised that way.
There's really very little to complain about with this phone. It's quite astounding.

The best phone I ever had.

Same here fantastic device that i play with now for a full a week.
If u look at kernel perseus thread and undervolt values it seems you can get even much more out of the chip...
So much that dev and other people wonders if it is for real...and so far it seems to be. Seems to me that samy did something quite special in response to the fruit chip....we all seems to agree battery performance IS OUTSTANDING..and thats not only it, spen etc...you name it.

was using note1, s3 before but my note 2 pwns them, honestly at everything- multitasking, battery time, design and etc. ;D
The comments from you guys make me felt so excited to get my hands on this beast next Tues
It's just a very different beast compared to the S3 I had for a while there. On paper I guess the Note II isn't a lot more than a bigger version of the S3, but it really is much better in many ways. I especially enjoy the big beautiful screen, the good battery life, playing with the S-Pen (though it's not very useful for me), I also think it feels better in the hand than the S3 did, typing is easier and more comfortable and I think the device looks nicer too!
I am getting my Note 2 tomorrow. CAN'T WAIT!!!
So I have some questions for those who already have this beast. It only has one button.. so how do you close apps and switch between apps??? How thick is the machine? How many rows and columns fit on the screen for apps? Never used touchwiz before only used sense.. I heard it is not user friendly? Do the home screens run in a continuous loop? How easy us it to root and unlock?
Thanks.. looks like I am getting one for my birthday from my hubby.. kinda nervous and ezcited at the same time..

Coming from a galaxy Ace , i find it awesome.
As i do not yet receive the case to protect it, i found the back very slippery, which is annoying for a so big phone.
I would have prefer a back with some rubber to stay well in one hand.
It will be better with the case even if it's even bigger
I have gone through the HTC Hero, HTC Evo, HTC Evo Shift, Samsung Galaxy SII, SIII, and as of today I got the S4. +1 ! Considering selling y S3 on eBay and paying the difference to get the S4.
I want to know what is the difference between the S3 and the S4. Its not that more different. The only reason I would get for being wireless charging and the core. My point is that I still have htc evo which is a great phone and the camera is still good. I cant really tell the difference except it is lighter. Also it makes a great back up phone for my S3. phone comes put every year how can ppl afford it and itsba waste of money I rather weight every 2 years after the s3.
No it isn't that different, and the s3 has wireless charging too.

I'm going to sell my s3 and get the S4 or HTC One and pay out of pocket pretty much what a upgrade would cost. You just have to time when to sell your old devices so you get a good amount of money to cover the next device if buying off contract. There is quite a difference in the S4 and S3 but the S3 is still a great device, just no longer the latest and greatest. Some worthy key upgrades of the S4 are a 1.9 GHz quad core processor compared to the S3 1.5 dualcore. 1080 screen with 441ppi S3 306ppi S4 13 mp camera S3 8 mp, S4 4.2.2 Android S3 4.1.2 etc. Plus software features updated apps etc. My brother has the S4 its nice.

I'm trying to get my wife to give up her iPhone 5, take my S3 so I can sell her iPhone 5 and pay the difference for the S4. I need everyone's prayers. Lol

My brother got his last Friday, so I've played with it. I was at his house today and I will be there tomorrow. He has kids so there is so much stuff on it its crazy. Mine will be much better. He has a really cheap case to. Its kind of wrong to me. I had to remove a task killer app off of today and explain those are no longer needed. But anyway when I was in Best Buy today the Samsung guy had a S4 in his pocket and he let me play with it for an hour. The camera is amazing I already know that. They had a TV set up so I was looking at pics on a big screen through whatever Samsung calls their mirrorcast. Its a great phone and definitely feels like a upgrade from the S3. And I will appreciate it even more when I get it because on Sunday when my eBay auction ends I will be shipping off my S3 and going back to my S2 until next week when I get the S4. Keeping it all in the family.

Oh ya and the screen is freaking amazing. I played with my brothers but unless you look at some pics you don't get the full feel of how many pixels there are. At best buy there was a bunch of preloaded pics taken by some ridiculous photographer supposedly with the S4. But those pictures looking absolutely amazing on the screen. I though my Samsung 8000 series TV had a good picture on it.

I will say so far the device is well worth it. A few minor bugs here and their but can be fixed with updates easily. A few features of the phone are amazing. However the scrolling webpages with your eyes is alright but its more like it reads your eyes and your tilt your head, hard to adjust to but fun to creap people out
So far Sprint is the only one with a unlocked bootloader and no real devolepment has struck. Got a couple of CM 10.1 ASOP and i believe Slim Bean. We have one guy who made a rom with all bloat crap removed which is night. Other than that not too much other than minor mods like hotspot, 4-1 reboot, and something else.

Its still really good and the quadrent scores are in the ballpark of 12000. so when its fully OC and UC it will be an awesome device. Battery life is incredible even with a lot of use. But the major bugs are to much bloatware running in background (my opinion on that part) causing a lot of lags but clears up easy but when it hits its noticeable. Other bug is or could be a defect is some devices have a red, blue, or purple tint on solid black screens which i haven't seen.

Quadrant scores mean zero/zilch/nada to me. It's all BS to me honestly lol.
Well I understand to some it is just BS. But to others it means a lot. You take something like the htc hero it cant even touch 600 in quadrent as the thing was slow as dirt and now with like the s4 its over 12000 which at that point it really doesn't matter because no game or anything is going to crack that down. It may have hiccups and lag once in a while (due to bug) but either way it is fast and thats thats counts

I should be selling my iPhone tomorrow (coming back from the dark side) and I plan on buying a used Galaxy Nexus because it seems to have tons of support and decent specs for the money I'm willing to spend. And I went completely crazy without an Android device and grew to hate my iPhone after switching from an S2. I just miss flashing ROMs every half hour.
Anyway, I just wanna know how it's holding up for everyone else. Is it becoming outdated yet? Losing support? Does it wear out quickly (dead pixels, broken buttons, etc.)? Or do people still love it as their daily driver?
Just curious because it's pretty much this or the S2. So please, let me know.

Mine is second hand too. Mine is now amazingly fast. It still has a lot of development altough some developers left for the Nexus 4 but theyre being replaced by new ones . Some people have issues with their phones but I didnt have any problems. I think it is a good disicion.

Coming back from the dark side, haha lol
The GNex certainly is good, but I wouldn't say its the best decision to buy it now, since quad core phones are becoming quite ubiquitous you might wanna wait for the next Nexus or go for the Nexus 4 just to be future proof and have more muscle.
EDIT : Nexus over the ugly S2 any day. Just for its beautiful looks and great development support.

Haha. Thanks. And I get your point. But you have to keep in mind that I'm a 16 year old with no contract. Lol. I just cant afford the latest and greatest, so while I keep up with smartphones (technology in general), I have to settle for ports instead the phones themselves.
Although I was considering the EVO 4G LTE (more muscle), but I figured I'd settle for the support and looks of the Nexus just because i think I'd be more satisfied.
But thanks to everyone! Looks like I'm getting the Nexus. Lol.
It's a good phone. Go for it
