Nice! Let us know how it runs on your Epic!
Well I finished the 1.4gb of data download and the tutorial seems pretty smooth, ironically it seems more sgs2 users are having issues rather than the sgs1.
If you haven't played this game, the story is incredible immersing, violent and saddening with snippets of comedy and an extremely interactive environment. Lag is present but it's easily fixed with a 1.1ghz overclock. Only one fc, none after overclocking though.

Ok...did a search for/ about this governor and don't find much....anyone who knows anything about what this one does, how battery friendly it is?
Thanks

It is based off of lag free which will stay at the top frequency when your playing with it but when you stop it will gradually scale down the list of active frequencies. Samurai is the same except its more aggressive meaning when it scales it, scales down faster than lagfree. Its better than lagfree for battery but not bad if you don't have many frequencies enabled. I usually had 200,400,800,1000.

Runs pretty smooth to me didn't know much about till Big jst explained thank you for that Goron. I've been running it on 2.2 FC09 for a little min now. vr/samurai and sio/samurai I switch back and forth between the two....200,400,600,800-25,1000-25. Snappy as hell too.

yep, had a hang at 900, so I got rid of it and all is well now...thanks all~!
So my friend and I were comparing our phones he has an iPhone, and my phone would do everything faster his phone just did everything smoother, mostly we checked how games ran, his phone in game options ex: scrolling through options and upgrades was way more smooth and responsive while mine had hiccups, gameplay was the same though, but I'm curious why the iPhone is smoother scrolling even outside of its ui into games while my Hercules beats it in specs?

Its not only hardware that determines how smooth it scrolls but also the software
In my opinion the reason I think it scrolls better has to do with apples memory management because it manages ram more smoothly so that's probably why
Also did you install custom kernel on your device?
Because if you did there would be no way you would lose

lol then i actually have no idea
the only thing that i could recommend is for you to try lightning zap rom
also overclock to the fullest and put in performance mode!!!!!
Then also install the v6 supercharger but i think slimbean already has it so
i think im stumped on this one lol!
Lightening zap is a kernel. And as for performance once we officially get project butter everything should be fine then.

lol yeah i totally did a typo there but i meant kernel!
but thanks for clarifying that i wouldn't want to spread that around
well i guess you explained it better than me and thanks!!!
"The iPhone changed things by introducing a dedicated thread with high priority for handling UI rendering, redirecting all power (CPU and GPU) to handling UI element rendering in realtime based on touch input. The result? Smooth-as-butter UI elements, transitions and animations as soon as you touch the screen -- even on older hardware when paired with the latest iOS 5 software. The drawback: everything else, from app downloads to content rendering will pause so the UI can keep that high frame rate, high quality redraw pace."

I've tried every kernel for this phone and most ROMs and there are brief times when the smoothness matches the iPhone, but the consistency just isn't there..
Speed..well that's a different story there are some ROM/kernel/tweak combos that make this phone pretty darn fast

The t989 is faster than the iPhone 4s. Geekbench 2 proves that. But in terms of smoothness the iPhone will ALWAYS win. It's just the way Android is designed. iOS sets resources aside for UI transitions and whatnot and that's why you NEVER see an iPhone stutter and spurt like Android does at times. Give Android another year or so and this issue will be a thing of the past. Unfortunately the only way to resolve this with Android is better hardware... but it's coming!

I'm pretty used to the spurts and sputters and its not a huge deal to me..I was running jedijelly for a while and went back to JMT for now until we get official ..its actually quite a bit faster than jedijelly and the battery life is outstanding ..its my opinion that JMT brings this phone almost on par with the iPhone smoothness..thanks to our great devs we have a big advantage over the average T989 user

Wow. I have the opposite experience. Touchwiz 4.0.4 spurts and stutters for me a lot. Add in the fact that it's nowhere near as snappy as AOSP 4.1 and I find myself constantly going back to jelly bean even though Touchwiz 4.0.4 gives me better battery life.

I'm still using jmtx1 even though there were is more current versions.
Even though ptmr3 said that adding the supercharge script was unnecessary I did it anyways just to ease my mind Lol I also added some of the battery saving mods from pmr...I keep my cpu set to ondemand/noop and slightly underclocked..and I am using the stock tw launcher ..
I think that some of the aosp ROMs out there may be slightly faster. but in my experiences they aren't as smooth as this one ..
Experiences may vary from phone to phone so there is no point in saying which ROM is better than the rest but I put my setup so someone can try it for themselves

well basically JB is the most stable ROM in my opinion that has the most support otherwise like ICS and GB don't have as much but i think that as soon as Ubuntu gets released the JB roms will be flowing like water but basically that also means that more roms will be smoother and remember that JB hasn't been officially released for our device so what there is currently is made by our awesome devs!
I need some advice. I haven't downloaded the game yet because its shown to be a pain for me to download. Lol. I have played it on my iPhone 5 before I took it back to Sprint to exchange it for my S3, my question is how does it run on our stock ROM with the s4 processor? How are the graphics? My iPhone 5 ran it decently with some lag here and there but nothing unbearable. How's it run on our device? Please don't flame me for this, I just don't want to waste my time trying to find WiFi to download it if its not gonna be worth it.

After my Real Racing 3 question is asked we can turn this into a gameplay thread for how all games play on our phone and what ROM and kernel were running. I know there's a thread for "what are we playing" but I feel this one can be pretty informant as well.

Im on stock rooted mb1 and stock kernal, runs great but game sucks if your not using the version with unlimited gold. Dont ask me where to find it.
Peace
Haha like I said, I played it on the iPhone 5 on release day and loved it, played it for 4 hours straight and got 8 cars and stayed around 50 gold, that's without IAP purchases. But are you saying the graphics and gameplay are good? And the unlimited gold version is intriguing. Haha

I have it on both my gs3 and my ipad (4th gen). It runs smoother on my s3 but the gfx are noticeably lower than on the ipad 4. Refection's on the cars and the mirrors inside the car are just dont look the same at all but nonetheless the game still looks good. Its the same way with need for speed most wanted. I'm running slim bean with lean kernel.
I have noticed tha with Need For Speed. I also noticed when I flash kt kernel the gfx are still low, BUT when I raise the clock speed to over 1.6ghz the gfx are the same as the ipad 4th gen. How can overclocking the CPU help gfx out? I tested it on multiple roms including stock and everytime I over clock it (the cpu not gpu) the game has amazing gfx...the cpu shouldn't do that should it?

The game probably automatically checks the CPU speed and steps up (or down) the graphics based on what it reads. It's actually a really good idea for them to do this, as they can scale down graphics for older machines and can make the game playable.
I wonder if Real Racing sites this too? I noticed Asphalt 7 MIGHT do it. .. it has real time reflections on the cars but i haven't played it on an over clock cpu

Hello all. I have recently flashed AOKP and I am loving it. My only problem is that the phone gets really hot. And not just on this ROM but on anything other than full stock. Why is this? Is there a fix? My friend told me that installing a custom kernel can help. Is there any truth to that? Thank you.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
It depends on what you're doing. Of course using alot of apps or playing games will cause the cpu to run at full speed. Its going to get warm.
No just from texting or using the web simple things

Its a known issue on the GS3.
Don't worry about it too much.
The processor is made to handle heat, and it doesn't come close to failing from heat.
If it really bugs you, you can always try a custom kernel and undervolt and under clock to see how it runs.
My GS3 runs extremely hot playing games, (Real Racing 3 to be exact, and it ran so hot I honestly thought the motherboard would start melting lol) I flashed a custom kernel, undervolted and it runs much much cooler now.
But yeah don't worry about it too much
It was made for that

I would try flashing the KT kernel or any other custom kernel u may prefer and see how it runs with that kernel stock settings and then tweak yo or like from there. Keep in mind all phones are different so some ones else's set up or settings may not work the same for u

Hello, I've been having some serious problems with lag and choppiness in games. My phone is rooted and I am running Wicked ROM V8 with KT kernel. The game I am the most upset about is The Amazing Spiderman. The game is so laggy and slow it's downright unplayable. My S2 ran it so much better. I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me what I can do to solve these issues.

Bahhhh... If anything, you are going to have to mess around with ktoonz kernel. Choose a different governor like ondemand or intelli. Let us know how that works out. You might also have to change a few other things if this does not help. Let me know!

I've messed around with KTweaker a little bit, I've tried setting it to the settings the creator posted and I've tried overclocking and a bunch of different governors. What would be a complete setup in KTweaker that would give maximum performance? Thank you very much for the help!
