hi
i've been recently using this Rom JJ's HYBRID ROM v3.1 with xarc ics kernel ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1653655 )
then decided to relock the bootloader and install the stock ICS via the update service
i used the X10FlashTool to relock the bootloader,, when flashing Xperia_Relock_bootloader.ftf the flashtool asked me to unplug, power on the device and turn on unknown resources and debugging
PHP:
16/027/2012 06:27:05 - INFO - Now unplug the device and power it on
16/027/2012 06:27:05 - INFO - Then go to application settings
16/027/2012 06:27:05 - INFO - turn on Unknown Sources and Debugging
so i've unpluged it and tried to power it on but it only vibrates and nothing happens and the screen doesn't even flash!
i know i'm a beginner and i don't what do i have to do right now and need your help
EDIT*: when i try to turn on the device the small light near the micro usb flashes green once and the the device vibrates (1 second or less) and nothing happens)
and guys please notice that i can't do anything on the phone because it completely doesn't work

ok you will prob need to either put it in flash mode and exclude everything but the kernel (in flashtool) or flash the entire stock firmware
EDIT* or re-unlock flash stock kernel and then lock again

Just download General Global World 4.0.4 from one of the threads and flash it in Flashtool.
Do note that you WILL lose all your data (whatever is on your SD card is safe) but your phone should work again and with the stock ICS. You can then proceed with unlocking your bootloader and rooting it.
Cheers!

No, the device doesn't have to be rooted to unlock the bootloader. Just get your password from Sony site, and enter fastboot, just like the first time you did it. Remember, you will lose all your data.
Otherwise, as pvy said, flash stock kernel with FlashTool (tick all the boxes apart from "Exclude Kernel" and "Wipe Data"). That way your data will be intact.

but the phone doesn't turn on,, so i can't get the IMEI from my phone to unlock the bootloader!
isn't there any way to get that number?
You can get your IMEI number from the box your arc S came in or just look under that battery. It's a 15 digit number. When you enter it on the Sony unlocking site, just exclude the last digit.
Cheers!
just try what pvy said,.
first you flash the kernel Only.,
then try to un-lock it Or install a full stock firmware.,

I know this has been asked before, but I just can't find a answer. I am really new to this and just wanted to use cyanogenmod because I heard it makes your phone faster.
Ok, so I really want to get Cyanogenmod (should I ask this on they're forums?) on my xperia arc, it was rogers branded, lt15a, .42. So apparently it wasn't for lt15a, so I spent hours trying to find a working rom for lt15i .42, and finally I did it. So I flashed to it and root it and get my stuff off my titanium backup, and go to install cyanogenmod from the clockworkmod menu (I installed it from xperia cwm auto-install). I go down to install from zip, blah blah blah select cyanogen's .zip, and get assert prop error lt18i. That was weird, because on the zip it says its for lt15i, and it said lt15i before when I tried using my lt15a. So I read something on here that said to remove the assert prop stuff from the updater-service file or something, so I did that. I went to install cyanogenmod and it said it was successful and it rebooted my phone. It went to the sony ericsson logo, and wouldn't leave. I go to restore it using the PC Companion update, but it just says it can't detect it. So I go to use flashtool and none of them work. But it said to turn off the phone, obviously it wouldn't turn off, so I took out the battery. Now it just won't turn back on! Have I permanantly bricked it? I can't send it in, because it had root checker and stuff on there. What do I do?
Sorry for the wall of text
Didnt you take a backup before installing the zip???
If so...just restore it through CWM.

It took a long time, many errors, but I do have a backup in rom manager from before I started trying to use cyanogenmod. But it didn't work when I tried it before I bricked my device, and I can't access CWM because I get stuck on sony ericsson and won't let me pass
have you tried flashing a .img via fastboot? you say your device wont turn off after you took out the battery. However can you still put it in flashmode? getting stuck on the boot logo, for me it seems like you didn't use the fxp kernel.

If your software update fails, the phone cannot be powered on properly. When you press the Power key, the phone vibrates and for a few seconds the display either shows Sony Ericsson in grey, or a warning triangle with a yellow exclamation mark and telephone symbol.
The phone then turns off and remains off. To fix this problem, connect the phone to PC Companion again, click start under Phone software update and click on the repair phone link
If the update does not start charge your battery. You need at least 40% battery power to initiate a software update. Charge the phone and then reconnect it to PC Companion.
Don’t use hubs and docks, connect the phone’s USB cable directly to the computer’s USB port. Do not remove or attach any other USB device during the update.

Hey there! I have just bought an xperia arc s lt18i. I am not a noob or new in android so u can answer my doubts normally, I will understand u lol!
I had a galaxy s sl and I think everything was quite different and easier. galaxy s (i9000) ROMS, firmwares, kernels, mods, etc weren't compatible with mine (i9003) and flashing them automatically bricks the phone. I have been reading a lot here and I still don't understand something...
--Are xperia arc and xperia arc s firmwares, roms, kernels and mods compatible with each other? Because I was going to root my lt18i (currently on official ics), I was downloading everything to follow the steps and I noticed I had downloaded the 2.3.4 firmware: LT15i_4.0.2.A.0.42. Can I flash this with flashtools? Isn't this an arc firmware or can I flash it in my arc s? Everything is being a bit difficult to me since it is absolutely different to samsung devices and since here there are a looot of tutorials saying similar but not same things...
Hope u understand me and can help me with this.
Thank u
Hi
Flashing arc <--> arc S work normally, if you wipe, if you don't, I would say 50:50=work:not work.
Always remember: Settings will always show that, you flashed. E.g you flashed arc FW on arc S, Settings will show arc.
And it's always better to flash the right Firmware.
If you still have questions, ask them. And press Thanks0
Sent from my ICS-powered arc S. From Austria!
PS: PM me if you are a Rubiks Cube lover.
Well, the idea is, that Xperia Arc S is the same to Arc except for the stronger hardware. They share the same software, Arc S just run it smoother, and the games on Arc S feels better, etc.
If a ROM can be run on the Arc then it can run on Arc S. Except for a few cases that the developer HIGHLY CUSTOMIZED the ROM for one of the two device, then the other device will receive bugs (but no brick).
To be honest, I don't feel the difference in Arc and Arc S (I own a few smartphone shops in VietNam). The difference can only be spotted within games, the Arc S does last longer in battery life though
Thanks for ur replies!

It does reboot. It reboots back into flashmode. Disconnect cable and turn on the phone. It is meant to be so.
Use Flashtool 0.9. I will send a mirror by pm.

Now u are here. I am trying to root it with DooMLoRD Toolkit v4.0 but it doesn`t let me... It seems like if it couldn't find the device. I have the proper drivers installed but it seems to not connect the device. It is in USB Debugging and Unknown sources... What can be happening?
Which FW do you have now?

Yess I could root it with flashtools Thank u! Now, if I upgrade to ICS the root won't disappear, is it right? Really thanks for ur time
What do u recommend me to do? ICS was a battery drainer and it was too warm. Now I am in 2.3.4 and everything is quite good, also the battery.

I wajt to flash a kernel to flash from recovery a rom. I cant access fastboot mode so i cant flash any recovery kernel or anything. I connect the phone pressing menu button but i cant find the blue light anywhere... Probably it is a driver issue or i dont know if somebody could help me with that i would e very grateful. Thanks!!!

Driver has nothing to do with phone not going to fastboot.
If notification LED, the LED next to microUSB, doesn't turn led, then 2 choices:
1) You are doing it wrong - Turn off phone, connect USB cable to PC, hold down Menu button, connect USB cable to phone.
2) Your phone is SIM-locked and/or branded - Fastboot is disabled. Only way is via paid method.
So i have to unlock bootloader? But if there are roms also for locked bl is because locked bl can also access to fastboot mode. Am i right?
So what must i do? How? Where can i unlock it the cheapest way? Thank u very much for ur answers!

i already read about rooting and all the terms included but my case is very specific
my Xperia arc S(LT18) has a password when i received from a friend i think someone send it to him from the U.S or Europe not sure(it has a vodafone Sim in it) so i tried to fix it through the sony update program
but i would receive an error message that my ip has been blocked due to device being brown phone
so i cannot format and cannot enter the phone so i tried to root it and followed the instructions from this link
androidlegend.com/how-to-root-sony-xperia-arc-s-lt18i-running-ics-4-0-4-firmware
anyways after flashing when i try to turn on the phone i get an error message saying "Sorry, the phone has crashed please wait until the crash data is saved and do not pull battery!" also flashing is hapening very fast i think the problem is that i am not enabling the option allow debugging and unknown services anyways now i cannot even reach the start screen
hope someone can help

I have never come across this issue, but if I had that problem, I would most definitely flash the firmware again just to make sure I get a clean, issue-free phone. Do note however, flashing does fail on occasions so flashing more than once is sometimes necessary.
Good luck!
I TRIED Flashing many times but i think, its not even flashing because it says at the end after saying flashing has ended that to Enable usb Debugging but i cant do that!!! also flashing takes 10 seconds and according to what i saw on you tube videos it should take 2 min

hmm strange. You don't need to enable debugging mode to flash a new rom. Are you using the latest flashtool? and are you flashing a kernel instead of a rom? :/

i am using flashtool 0.9.6.0 and i followed instructions from this site
ww.androidlegend.com/how-to-root-sony-xperia-arc-s-lt18i-running-ics-4-0-4-firmware
i got flash tool then downloaded ICS 4.0.3 Firmware (4.1.A.0.562).\
i flashed but it seems it didnt work because theflashing happened very quickly like 10sec but i saw in some youtube videos that it should take 2-3min
theses are the last 4 lines in the flashtool

Hi guys,
Im really struggling to root my wifes SXS...I think Ive tried every solution on here, but just cant seem to do it. Eventually I want to install Trinity Vengence ROM, but I understand I need to root first.
So I have in my hand:
SXS LT26i locked to Three in the UK
Jellybean 4.1.2
Build No 6.B.1.96
I know I need to get doomlords JB_211-prerooted onto the thing, but I need to root then get CWM installed to do this, and this is where its falling down!
FLASHTOOL - phone recognised, but when it come to inserting the USB cable and pressing back button, nothing happens. Occasionally, it will reboot, but i get the message that USB debugging hasnt been enabled (though it was before the phone rebooted!).
DOOMLORD EasyRoot - wont work on my version of jellybean
Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v31 - no luck here either. Reboots twice and no root applied.
Im an experienced noob, having installed ROMS on our Galaxy S's and my SGS3, so I can follow instructions well enough, but Im baffled with this!
Any help is greatly appreciated! The wife has another 1.5 years of her contract left and this phone is laggy as hell
Cheers!

Flashtool shows the back button because when it was made it was for the X10i which had a had back button to enter flash mode. It's the volume buttons on the XS. Down for flash and up for fastboot if I remember rightly
Both from the phone being off and having the usb cable plugged in at the same time as holding em

Hi Ben,
That means I'm stuck then... I believe I need to flash a certain doomlord kernel first, then install his pre rooted rom before I do anything else.
Is that correct? Surely there is another way... Hopefully there is another way!

If you want to flash a ROM,first thing to do is root the phone and have an unlocked bootloader. I wont tell u here how to do that as there are tons of guides out there. Just use search and you should be fine
This is the problem I'm having, none of the methods seem to work for me.
Doomlords doesn't work on 6.2.1.64 (or whatever)
And I can't flash a kernel that will allow me to root because the bootloader is locked. In these service menu, bootloader unlock says no.
Surely there's a way round this, no?

And did you follow the step where you have to close flashtool before proceeding??

Mate, follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2154348
You'll have .55 firmware rooted and with CWM, and then: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302631
You'll have prerooted JB firmware with CWM. And then you just do what you want.
Hi guys. I bought an Xperia M to replace my iphone 4s. I love this phone, makes my old iphone look really craptastic speed wise. I went to do the bootloader unlock, things said they went well but now its stuck in a boot loop. Also if I flash a stock firmware on it does the boot loader stay unlocked if i use the same version that was installed? I have the fixed image to do the cwm recovery adn root, but want to know the phone is ok first. Thanks, Ive tried looking but nothing seems to truely answer my questions.

bro 1st boot after unlock takes times...if u want flash ftf...boot and leave for 0-30mins....dont wry once unlocked is unlocked forever until u manually relock
If you can enter cwm. I would recommend you to flash stock 4.3 using only your phone without pc. Go to development section and find the thread called back up stock and radios by bonoboo. Its so useful and less bricked pisibility.

Hey thanks. Is there a way to see if the bootloader is unlocked? I let it sit for more than a half hour (@ 45 minutes I ended up flashing it as I needed the phone to be a phone) and still didn't complete a boot cycle. I ended up flashing a stock 1.9 and now seems to be much happier. I understand how to flash the kernel, but havent done it yet.
Hi guys. I have the exact same problem. Used fastboot to unlock my bootloader, using the command
>> fastboot -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY
and it spit out
OKAY [ 0.074s]
finished.
But now the phone is stuck in boot loop.
Now I want to reflash the kernel on it. I found some kernel and downloaded it, and then tried to do
>> fastboot flash kernel kernel.sin
but I get command not allowed error. So I am really baffled. Since my bootloader is unlocked, I can't use Sony PC Companion either.
Some guidance or help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Here is an update. I flashed the CWM boot.ini and went to CWM. I noticed that when I wanted to wipe all data, I would get
Error mounting /data!
which may explain the boot loop.
Is there any way to fix this problem?
Thanks!

which may explain the boot loop.
Is there any way to fix this problem?
Thanks!

Flash the FTF from here if you have the XM single sim, or look for the ftf for XM Dual if you have the dual sim XM.

Try putting the battery out for 10 minutes and then try reflashing .ftf file
But sadly that sounds like a brick to me. Do the LEDs flash at anytime?

Its not hardbrick you just need to charge it .when the red light Lights up leave it for 15 mins then power on your phone .
3 red light indicates that the phone cant turn on because theres no power to turn it on . Happened to me once .but i just plugged the charger then the red light appears and i leave it for 15 mins then power it on . then its done
now boot mode giving the problem

It is your usb cable or the usb slot.. thats a common problem for xperia phones.. try to put your phone higher than your pc so that the pressure of the charger will increase .and flash ftf.
And if this doesn't work, try a different USB cable.

Flash stock rom using flash tool.
After the boot loader unlock, I flashed the stock rom, then the cwm kernel, and then rooted it. I freaked out at first as I thought I bricked it. After giving it 25 minutes after the unlock process, did the above. It works fine and has given me 0 problems.
