Bootloader unlock went ok now bricked? - Sony Xperia M

Hi guys. I bought an Xperia M to replace my iphone 4s. I love this phone, makes my old iphone look really craptastic speed wise. I went to do the bootloader unlock, things said they went well but now its stuck in a boot loop. Also if I flash a stock firmware on it does the boot loader stay unlocked if i use the same version that was installed? I have the fixed image to do the cwm recovery adn root, but want to know the phone is ok first. Thanks, Ive tried looking but nothing seems to truely answer my questions.

bro 1st boot after unlock takes times...if u want flash ftf...boot and leave for 0-30mins....dont wry once unlocked is unlocked forever until u manually relock

If you can enter cwm. I would recommend you to flash stock 4.3 using only your phone without pc. Go to development section and find the thread called back up stock and radios by bonoboo. Its so useful and less bricked pisibility.

Hey thanks. Is there a way to see if the bootloader is unlocked? I let it sit for more than a half hour (@ 45 minutes I ended up flashing it as I needed the phone to be a phone) and still didn't complete a boot cycle. I ended up flashing a stock 1.9 and now seems to be much happier. I understand how to flash the kernel, but havent done it yet.

Hi guys. I have the exact same problem. Used fastboot to unlock my bootloader, using the command
>> fastboot -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY
and it spit out
OKAY [ 0.074s]
finished.
But now the phone is stuck in boot loop.
Now I want to reflash the kernel on it. I found some kernel and downloaded it, and then tried to do
>> fastboot flash kernel kernel.sin
but I get command not allowed error. So I am really baffled. Since my bootloader is unlocked, I can't use Sony PC Companion either.
Some guidance or help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Here is an update. I flashed the CWM boot.ini and went to CWM. I noticed that when I wanted to wipe all data, I would get
Error mounting /data!
which may explain the boot loop.
Is there any way to fix this problem?
Thanks!

Try putting the battery out for 10 minutes and then try reflashing .ftf file
But sadly that sounds like a brick to me. Do the LEDs flash at anytime?

It is your usb cable or the usb slot.. thats a common problem for xperia phones.. try to put your phone higher than your pc so that the pressure of the charger will increase .and flash ftf.

And if this doesn't work, try a different USB cable.

Flash stock rom using flash tool.

After the boot loader unlock, I flashed the stock rom, then the cwm kernel, and then rooted it. I freaked out at first as I thought I bricked it. After giving it 25 minutes after the unlock process, did the above. It works fine and has given me 0 problems.

[SOLVED] Xperia Arc bricked, need help fast

I know this has been asked before, but I just can't find a answer. I am really new to this and just wanted to use cyanogenmod because I heard it makes your phone faster.
Ok, so I really want to get Cyanogenmod (should I ask this on they're forums?) on my xperia arc, it was rogers branded, lt15a, .42. So apparently it wasn't for lt15a, so I spent hours trying to find a working rom for lt15i .42, and finally I did it. So I flashed to it and root it and get my stuff off my titanium backup, and go to install cyanogenmod from the clockworkmod menu (I installed it from xperia cwm auto-install). I go down to install from zip, blah blah blah select cyanogen's .zip, and get assert prop error lt18i. That was weird, because on the zip it says its for lt15i, and it said lt15i before when I tried using my lt15a. So I read something on here that said to remove the assert prop stuff from the updater-service file or something, so I did that. I went to install cyanogenmod and it said it was successful and it rebooted my phone. It went to the sony ericsson logo, and wouldn't leave. I go to restore it using the PC Companion update, but it just says it can't detect it. So I go to use flashtool and none of them work. But it said to turn off the phone, obviously it wouldn't turn off, so I took out the battery. Now it just won't turn back on! Have I permanantly bricked it? I can't send it in, because it had root checker and stuff on there. What do I do?
Sorry for the wall of text
Didnt you take a backup before installing the zip???
If so...just restore it through CWM.

It took a long time, many errors, but I do have a backup in rom manager from before I started trying to use cyanogenmod. But it didn't work when I tried it before I bricked my device, and I can't access CWM because I get stuck on sony ericsson and won't let me pass
have you tried flashing a .img via fastboot? you say your device wont turn off after you took out the battery. However can you still put it in flashmode? getting stuck on the boot logo, for me it seems like you didn't use the fxp kernel.

The phone then turns off and remains off. To fix this problem, connect the phone to PC Companion again, click start under Phone software update and click on the repair phone link
If the update does not start charge your battery. You need at least 40% battery power to initiate a software update. Charge the phone and then reconnect it to PC Companion.

Arc S does not boot

hi
i've been recently using this Rom JJ's HYBRID ROM v3.1 with xarc ics kernel ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1653655 )
then decided to relock the bootloader and install the stock ICS via the update service
i used the X10FlashTool to relock the bootloader,, when flashing Xperia_Relock_bootloader.ftf the flashtool asked me to unplug, power on the device and turn on unknown resources and debugging
PHP:
16/027/2012 06:27:05 - INFO - Now unplug the device and power it on
16/027/2012 06:27:05 - INFO - Then go to application settings
16/027/2012 06:27:05 - INFO - turn on Unknown Sources and Debugging
so i've unpluged it and tried to power it on but it only vibrates and nothing happens and the screen doesn't even flash!
i know i'm a beginner and i don't what do i have to do right now and need your help
EDIT*: when i try to turn on the device the small light near the micro usb flashes green once and the the device vibrates (1 second or less) and nothing happens)
and guys please notice that i can't do anything on the phone because it completely doesn't work

Do note that you WILL lose all your data (whatever is on your SD card is safe) but your phone should work again and with the stock ICS. You can then proceed with unlocking your bootloader and rooting it.
Cheers!

No, the device doesn't have to be rooted to unlock the bootloader. Just get your password from Sony site, and enter fastboot, just like the first time you did it. Remember, you will lose all your data.
Otherwise, as pvy said, flash stock kernel with FlashTool (tick all the boxes apart from "Exclude Kernel" and "Wipe Data"). That way your data will be intact.

but the phone doesn't turn on,, so i can't get the IMEI from my phone to unlock the bootloader!
isn't there any way to get that number?
You can get your IMEI number from the box your arc S came in or just look under that battery. It's a 15 digit number. When you enter it on the Sony unlocking site, just exclude the last digit.
Cheers!
just try what pvy said,.
first you flash the kernel Only.,
then try to un-lock it Or install a full stock firmware.,

Stuck at Sony logo

So, I was using .431 generic global world (GGW) build for my xperia arc till today.
Today, I noticed that .587 GGW came out and decided to update.
I already had unlocked bootlader with no root with .431.
First, I backup everything & factory-wiped my phone.
I tried to enter flash mode with no avail for over 10+ tries.
Then I decided to trick SPC update to force my phone into flash mode.
It put the phone to flash mode as I thought.
I successfully flashed .587.
Then I started to root.
I used the guide at this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26805903&postcount=3
After the 2nd step I noticed that I can't enter the flash mode even with SPC trick.
I deleted all previous usb drivers and settings.
I also reinstalled all sony software and drivers from scratch.
I was still unable to enter flash mode.
Then, I noticed I could enter fastmode.
So, I renamed the ftf file to zip and extracted the files.
Then, I used fastboot mode to flash new kernel.
Phone was rooted and working.
I installed CWM and got a full backup.
So, I thought why not try a custom mod after the root.
I decided to try Hybrid MooDeD JB-ICS 100.0.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526717
I followed all the instructions to the letter and made the install.
The phone asked for reboot and when it rebooted it got stuck at Sony logo.
I checked the thread a little bit more (my fault for not checking all before but in my defence it's 101 pages..) and it seems it's kernel is based for .431 and I was using .587.
So now, I can't enter the flash mode nor fastmode and the phone is stuck at sony logo.
Help please...
can you enter recovery if yes then flash appropriate rom
and also try to remove battery for 30 or more sec and connent phone while holding back button to get in flashmode or search to get in fastboot
Have you tried flashtool to flash it to 4.1.B.0.587 ?

OP: How come you can't access flashmode or fastboot mode? Then you are doing something wrong. Besides, problem is that you didn't install proper custom kernel for the ROM.
And previous ROM has nothing to do with it, doesn't matter which ROM you had earlier, new one will install and delete/replace all the files.

I realise that. I put all the info up to OP so that ppl won't waste time by asking me what happened exactly.
Nevertheless, I really can't access flash/fastmode at all. I tried removing the battery and start clicking all the things before putting the battery back on. But nothing happens. I just see the sony logo.

So as soon as you place your battery back in does your phone turn on ?
if it doesnt i think you should be able to access either flashmode or fastboot mode

When I put the battery back, nothing happens. Phone doesn't get powered up. As soon as I try the key-combo for flash/fastmode, phone starts up as if it's going to enter the modes but only sony logo shows up and gets stuck. I really have no idea how this could happen.
Damn !
hmm thats odd isnt it ? Are you sure your holding the specified buttons before pressing the power on button ? Sorry about all the Questions just making sure

if you can boot upto se logo so your semcboot is not broken
so now tell me if you could enter fastboot before you unlocked bl?
and try to unlock it again using test point method (there is also a free one with S1TOOL if you had bl unlock allowed = yes if you could recall) i recommend not to use paid one bcoz you can pay that to sony to recover it and may be after that you could get into fastboot mod
if it didn't helped try to repair semcboot or trim area contact alejandrissimo for that it also follows testpoint method and its free
i think now only way to connect phone to pc is using testpoint!!!!!

[Q] rooting arc S 8LT18i) issue

i already read about rooting and all the terms included but my case is very specific
my Xperia arc S(LT18) has a password when i received from a friend i think someone send it to him from the U.S or Europe not sure(it has a vodafone Sim in it) so i tried to fix it through the sony update program
but i would receive an error message that my ip has been blocked due to device being brown phone
so i cannot format and cannot enter the phone so i tried to root it and followed the instructions from this link
androidlegend.com/how-to-root-sony-xperia-arc-s-lt18i-running-ics-4-0-4-firmware
anyways after flashing when i try to turn on the phone i get an error message saying "Sorry, the phone has crashed please wait until the crash data is saved and do not pull battery!" also flashing is hapening very fast i think the problem is that i am not enabling the option allow debugging and unknown services anyways now i cannot even reach the start screen
hope someone can help

I have never come across this issue, but if I had that problem, I would most definitely flash the firmware again just to make sure I get a clean, issue-free phone. Do note however, flashing does fail on occasions so flashing more than once is sometimes necessary.
Good luck!
I TRIED Flashing many times but i think, its not even flashing because it says at the end after saying flashing has ended that to Enable usb Debugging but i cant do that!!! also flashing takes 10 seconds and according to what i saw on you tube videos it should take 2 min

hmm strange. You don't need to enable debugging mode to flash a new rom. Are you using the latest flashtool? and are you flashing a kernel instead of a rom? :/

i am using flashtool 0.9.6.0 and i followed instructions from this site
ww.androidlegend.com/how-to-root-sony-xperia-arc-s-lt18i-running-ics-4-0-4-firmware
i got flash tool then downloaded ICS 4.0.3 Firmware (4.1.A.0.562).\
i flashed but it seems it didnt work because theflashing happened very quickly like 10sec but i saw in some youtube videos that it should take 2-3min
theses are the last 4 lines in the flashtool
06/030/2012 22:30:03 - INFO - Flashing finished..
06/030/2012 22:30:03 - INFO - Please unplug and start your phone
06/030/2012 22:30:03 - INFO - For flashtool, Unknown Sources and Debugging must be checked in phone settings
06/030/2012 22:30:04 - INFO - Device connected in flash mode
i think its telling me i should check the debugging option but i cant do that
when i try to root nothing happens just says waiting for device
+ if i try to turn on the phone it just says after the Sony Ericsson logo the phone has crashed and violet led flashes and just keeps restarting

Can't boot Xperia M please help me!

Hi,
I tried to install TWRP (by a lot of different methods) but they didn't work. I was also have a fastboot & flashtool driver problem so I couldn't install it using computer either.
One day I saw an app in the play store called ROM Installer. I downloaded it and tried to flash twrp.img using it. It said flashing was succesful. Now I rebooted my phone to recovery (by the NDR Utils app) but it was just powered off and than red LED lighted up. After 20 minutes I removed the battery. (It didn't react to anything else) Then I tried to boot it but it didn't react. (nor boot to recovery or boot to safemode)
After 5 hours when I tried to boot it again it showed that battery is exhausted (by the red LED) I connected it to charger but it didn't do anythig except the LED lighting. If I disconnect it it shows the -exhausted battery sign- again.
If I connect it to my computer the red LED lights up but nothing else. The computer doesn't recognise it. I have no idea how to power it again.
Really thanks guys to help me.
PS I'm a novice so pls be patient (and sorry for my mistakes as well)
Other details:
Phone: Xperia M C1905
Android: 4.3 Jelly Bean
Build number: 15.4.A.1.9
Phone is rooted and has an unlocked bootloader
did u unlock your bootloader before flashing the recovery????

are you sure your device is really on unlocked bootloader condition? if that really on unlocked bootloader condition you only need to wipe data via flashtool. BTW install recovery on stock rom is only using flashtool for safe way. and usually CWM is only work on stock rom but if you want TWRP you can using FOTARecovery. i think that from kernel problem, cause if you install any recovery from app in playstore they will change your kernel with another kernel that have recovery mode. but if that kernel isn't compatible with your phone, your phone will soft brick. are you sure you have problem with flashmode and fastboot driver on your pc? i can tell you advanced than this if you can tell me which OS do you using it right now on your pc.
Don't worry your phone not fully broken

Thanks for replying.
My device on unlock bootloader I'm sure. (I called a strange number it showed a menu and in device info option it showed bootloader is unlocked.
Driver problems: When I connect the phone in fastboot mode the flashtool usually says: device not found - install the drivers from... I installed the drivers of my phone but it still didn't worked. I tried to update the 's1 boot fastboot' driver in device manager (picked the winusb inf file) but it said that that was a problem during installing: adb interface is missing. (but now I can't boot my device into fastboot mode)
