I need a dev...... Or someone who can make a ROM - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I thought the new Sony Android software looked pretty sick. If anyone wants to be loved by the entire dinc 2 community, you can make a ROM based on this....
http://m.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_s-review-741p3.php
I think it looks pretty sick, and its something new.

Interest piqued as well! That looks sick!
-Truckin-

This thread will probably be moved because its not development...however, if you look on the forums you will find an Xperia based ROM that runs well.
This one is a tad updated though and I would expect to see a launcher on the market that would emulate this. Its based on Gingerbread too and from what I can see most of our devs have focused strictly on Android 4.0

There's actually a launcher in the apps section that looks just like that.
Here's the link

Moved to General. As was stated, this doesn't really constitute Development

That launcher is nice, and its pretty much the same thing. All Sony did was make a launcher to go with vanilla ICS.

ROMs

What's up everyone, I'm kind of new too this whole rooting thing. Any one got some personal favorite ROMs for the G2?
errmm once rooted, make sure you have s-off, anndd i like the nightly builds, they are based on cyanogen mod roms and offer more settings and tweaks than most android roms. i also like the launcher pro, you need to buy it for around $3-4 or £2-3, install it then use titanium backup to to remove the adw launcher.
I was using GingerVillain 1.5 for a while but recently switched over to meXdroid meXperia remeX and have been loving it. GingerVillain 1.5 was a great ROM as well but with meXdroid I am noticing some better battery life and when scrolling through home screens using launcher pro, the motion seems a bit more fluid than it was on GV.
can you show some pictures?
the acer liquidmetal rom in the android development section is one of the sickest interfaces ive seen ever on android theres screenies on that thread.
Umm...shouldn't this be in Q&A?

Ultimate Droid 3.2.0 Its stable and super fast, its got some pretty sweet customizations that other rom's don't.
Ultimate droid I would say is the top rom IMO.. smooth, custimazation features build in, quick, stable. Its like cm7 on crack.

...now that you mention it, I do recall something called a "search" feature.
I have a HUGE problem with UD, they were dirty and I think the only reason why the post is still alive on XDA is because they either cleaned up their act, or a mod just did not notice it yet.
They were banned on XDA and another site this pretty much explains it: http://www.cyanogenmod.com/blog/android-soap-opera-ultimate-droid
Also I don't like the whole money for nightly thing. Something seems morally wrong there.
+1 for acer liquid... i just tried it... its cool!!

[Q] cyanogen mod vs miui- which looks better?

My vote goes to cyanogen mod since miui just didn't feel right. Didn't like the look of the majority of the apps either.
Cm7 ftw.. if you like miui, get an iphone...

My thoughts exactly. I don't like the feel of miui nor the look of it.

miui = polished android. if you like miu you don't necessarily need to get an iphone... JUST CHANGE YOUR LAUNCHER! ITS THAT SIMPLE. I consider miui menu style, popup system, and customization leaps and bounds ahead of stock android look. also this thread won't do justice to the xda'ers who've had miui and that can really comment on this.. would be nice to see this thead in Android General.
Throw a nice theme on cm7 with good looking icos an you have a winner

Only thing I like about it is the messaging pop-up. Other than that it's mostly eye candy to me. No more or less functionality than cm

why do you think the iphone is the most successful smartphone ever made. because iOS looks clean and ordinary folks like the eye candy! android has more features than ios but lacks in the aesthetic department.. where stock android lacks, miui succeeds. ICS is going in the right direction..
Its the most succesful smartphone because people stick with what they know, and most wouldn't know how to use android to its full potential to begin with.
I like the transparent dock of miui and go launcher

Im glad somebody asked this. I was wondering the same thing. I want to try one out, I just don't know which one has the least amount of bugs.
Both are good. I like CM better because it's more flexible and more along the lines of AOSP andriod. I would call it a roided out AOSP rom. With MIUI, once you add a launcher on top, besides the pulldown whats the point? If you want the iphone look then there are alternative's to miui like Espier which is more Iphone like than even miui (at least until apple sues the developer).

try both since each user has their own preference. cm7 has less bugs i believe. i rocked both but right i'm back to ec05 until stable wifi/video gets fixed. both very important to me.

Right now for the Epic, CM7 development is a bit further along than Miui. I've been running CM since the 11th and it just keeps getting better with every new release.
Note: I don't/can't use wimax.

same function but miui is better eye candy. one would be silly to think your only stuck with miui launcher and that any other launcher on top would hinder performance. same goes for cm7 which had adw integrated.

I have been flipping back and forth on my Nexus every day. I like how on Miui you can use the dialer from one theme, mms from another, pulldown bar and boot ani from another, etc but CM7 seems more refined development wise and it has plenty of good themes as well...and CM7 has 4g
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
MIUI is more customizable, and it's basically like a Sense, MotoBlur, or TouchWiz made by Root Developers. That's the main reason I lean to it more then anything, but CM is just so stock and has everything but it has it so minimalistically, and that's why it's better. Both have their pros and cons, no one ROM is perfect, but both are amazing.

ICS vs Gingerbread

For me is not a big deal about ICS but for some it is....here is a comparison I found on YouTube. If I r on the xda app and it doesn't open click on, open in browser.

But if we are talking Motoblur, Sense and TouchWizz....yah Ill take the wizz.
Personally, I think the "official" ICS (LPQ) for the SGS2 seems more like an alpha build than a final product. CM9 nightly version for the i9100 feels more stable than Samsung's LPQ release.
I think I'd just stick with Gingerbread, rather than upgrade to Samsung's ICS builds.
obviously ICS is better the look the feel the speed
Its like saying Tupac vs Sojiua boy
Yes... Another ICS thread!
Much like most of us, I've gotten fed up with the ICS thread phenomenon..
However, I wanted to post this thread for the veterans and Devs.
Of course those of us in the know have been watching the activity escalate in the online feeds, and I have to say it's exciting to see the ramping up of releases and leaks..
We are at the threshold of real ICS goodness. I for one have been watching Kevin's Nova Launcher, since I am not a big fan of TouchWiz. Don't get me wrong, Samsung is impressive at coding.. it's functional and beautiful but too too slow and not enough customization for us hardcore themers.. With a few custom apps I see a gorgeous, lightning fast, better than Vanilla ICS experience coming.
Thoughts?

My thoughts: I don't get the big deal over ICS Now, people running WP7 on the other hand...I can see why they get jacked about OS updates - WP7 sucks exponentially less with each one
I can understand people not liking TouchWiz because of the lack of customization and other reasons but not for being too slow. When I first got my S2 I thought it was blazing fast. OP you really think TouchWiz is too slow?

I need to get an answer, which I've been combing through the forums and the internet. I've heard through a very reputable source that Samsung coded Touchwiz so deep it utilizes the on chip GPU verses all the other launchers uses up precious phone resources. Touchwiz was "made" for the hardware of this phone.
Can someone please verify this.

death to TW!!! HAHA
Tw isn't even that bad lol, our phones are fast enough that it doesn't matter
i think its more the UI that most people don't like. ICS is so much prettier and smoother. for me, give me AOSP and I'll decide how I want my phone to look.
But the biggest reason I don't like TW or Sense or any of those custom UI's is cuz it just delays OS updates that much more cuz of that crap. When the AOSP version does everything the Custom ones do....what do I need the custom one for?

[Q] Pure Google ICS without Touchwiz?

I know there is one thread labeled it is the only official ICS thread, but I have a slightly different question...
My vibrant broke, and there was literally a ton of ICS roms for Vibrant... now with the Galaxy S2 I see plenty of ICS roms, but they all seem to have some kind of touchwiz basis... I hate touchwiz with a passion. I love the way google sets the phone up like on the Nexus...
Are there any roms that are just lightweight pure and simple ICS roms for the SII?
I'd love any responces and i'm not trying to troll i've searched a bit with no results.
Thank you anyone.
Also i know about the APEX launcher I was just wondering if there is something more direct.
CM9 and AOKP will both give you a pretty stock or more than stock experience.
Miui is a whole different ball game but not touchwiz

The cm or aokp roms, but they aren't fully functional.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
Slightly off topic but why get SII when you can get the nexus? Sounds like you would love that phone more... and cheaper too.
Anyways, AKOP/CM9 is probably your best bet when dev gets really rolling on it with an official source release.

This. Ppl that have had the s2 since long before you are also sick of touchwiz but there is nothing the devs can do to remove it completely till we get source
Questions go in the Q&A section
Coming from the Vibrant I had a pure google ICS rom and it was fully functional...
CM9/AOKP which would you guys pick. CM9 still in the alpha stages and really buggy? I would just like something stable..

Where to start???

Hey, everyone! So, long story short, I pretty much jacked up my OG Droid Incredible a couple of weeks ago and was force to pick up a new device. I went with a Verizon Galaxy Nexus, basically because the dev support is huge. The only problem with it is, the dev community is almost too huge! I've been scoping out the development section and it has my head spinning as there's just so much to choose from! Anyone have some recommendations for a nice stable Jellybean ROM and kernel to flash to get started with? And what does everyone use for recovery? I wasn't anticipating getting a new device this quickly so I haven't really had any time to research and sift through all of these threads. Any and all recommendations would be greatly appreciated! I look forward to being a part of this amazing community! Thanks everyone!
Sent from my Droid Incredible using xda app-developers app
personally I always go with CM, and they did just start nightlies with CM10 (jellybean), kernels I just stick to what came with the rom, which is of course a CM kernel, and recovery, well you guessed it TWRP also brought to us by the CM team. There are many devs out there offering many great roms, but no matter what I always find myself going straight back to true CM roms, not CM based roms.

Man, we haven't had any official CM ROMs for the Dinc since Gingerbread. Everything ICS, and now JB, has been CM-based. I've never really been huge on MIUI but I'm willing to give anything a shot! There's just so much going on over here, I'm a bit overwhelmed!

BAMF Paradigm has been rock solid for me. It's close to stock with a handful of customizations. I'd say it's "just right"!
Is there any sort of Touchwiz theme or add-on that works with any of these JB ROMs? I know most people can't stand Touchwiz but I ran a CM9-based Touchwiz ROM on my Dinc for a while and absolutely loved it!

I guess you can search for themes that are compatible with CM10 theme chooser, but I don't think there's any Touchwiz ROMs. Also Touchwiz itself is not yet Jelly Bean, so it's gonna be pretty hard.
Welcome buddy! Glad to see your aboard the nexus train lol
As for ROMs.. this will depend on you specifically as I enjoy customization I went with -
JbSourcery and CNA, both stable and Jelly Bean.
Allow a huge variation of Customization, Miui was great with Gingerbread but since ICS it went to hell.
Kernels will vary depending on the ROM. Stock usually seems to be best.

Haha, indeed. Even started a sound quality thread.
The nexus sound quality isn't the greatest and at best can make it sound like the DInc.
Yeah go ahead, you'll see a few more familiar faces too! I have only seen Alton, Tiny "Rootzwiki" and Joelz, very rarely comes here. He released a Miui ROM yesterday I believe.

Personally I use TWRP recovery as it is very nice. I used the goo manager app in market to install it. Other than that I have tried many ROMs and all of them have been great but am now using paranoidandroid and probably will be from now on. It has things totally different than any other ROM and is really cool. With that I use the trinity kernel cause it performs well and I really like the colors. Also there is a touchwiz mod in the mods section that looks to be very complete. Look in there if interested to see what Ron they recommend on it.
