[RADIO] 2.12.04.119.17 (new radio from a test RUU) - HTC One X

RADIO 2.12.04.119.17
flash-able zip for recovery
you know what to do

I´ve never (and when i´m saying never i relly mean never) used my Radio on the smartphone, but i test it for you ! Your effort makes me smile... (Radio, Camera...)
Keep up the good work ! Who have ever thought this will become that important on a phone !

Im guessing this is european based?
will give it a go, maybe it's better for US than the China based radios lol

Keep in mind that htc did some changes to radio interface f.g. in ramdisk. So basically I would be very careful with flashing only QUO_6260.fls.clean. Also radio upgrade process is probably related to recovery OTA mode.

On Tegra devices the radio can be flashed or, more accurately, installed without s-off since it lives on the system partition.
--Matt

Flashing, hope it's an improvement ^.^

I haven't Tried this för long But already it seems to decrease the constant flipping between 3g and hdspa while I'm on my way to work. So it's definetly an improvement as i have had no connection issues för the First time since getting the phone!
I would recommend anyone to try it!

Hang on so all this time we were able to install updates on radio ? and our current flashes that include radio have infact been taking ?. why is it on the system partition, where is it normally on the kernel ??.

I think there are two parts in radio
Radio Firmware - somewhere in flash, protected by security
Radio Interface Layer (RIL) - this is what this thread is about...

haha didn't check the date! Thanks for the heads up! I'm having a bit of difficulty finding a radio that gives good battery life. What radio would you recommend..?
I've found that the newest official Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 (from the link in your signature) gives me the best battery life and I've tried almost all radios.

Nice1 thanks. I used it a few weeks ago and then changed for some reason, prob just to see what else was out there. I recall it being excellent.
So, is the radio's performance dependant on the ROM in way way? Also, what RIL are you using?
Not really no and almost all roms are based on the official gingerbread update and the radio came with it so the roms should be optimized for it anyway. RILs should always match the radio you're using, but the newest custom roms should already include the matching RILs for the radio I suggested.

THX I NEED it
the newest radio is the best mate...
Just posted this update in the Recommended ROM/RADIO/RIL/KERNEL Combinations thread..
Flashed the Telus radio: 12.35d.60.140fP_26.06.03.24_M2 and it's using 3-4mA per minute in stand-by. It's pretty much the best I've tested so far. I'm going to stick with it: http://www.multiupload.com/4CQ8919NO6
what ril are you using with that radio? This one 12.35d.60.140fP_26.06.03.24_M2
the 1003g one? I;ve tried flashing that ril and cannot get it to work?

The RIL's in my signature.
Remember, you have to mount /system in cwm before you flash it. Just look in one of the menus within cwm and you'll see mount /system. Select it and then flash the RIL as your would flash a rom or anything else, from your SD card.

Cool, thanks for sharing. I'm still waiting on the download to finish but I'm not expecting too much difference from the last leak.
The popups and fake links on the file hosting site were fun to navigate through. =/
so is this flashable through recover? or save as PC10IMG.zip and go into bootloader?

Looks like the full deal aka bootloader IMG - sooooo, flash with caution as this will most likely unroot your phone and if that being the case, may have issues with gfree etc.
Edit: Actually, I wonder if this is the actual T-Mobile update release - the timing would be about right. @football: is this the release then or another test?

This ROM is release one...
Ok so this is NOT safe to just flash through clockwork? Someone working on packing that up? If someone wants to tell me how to download this and just extract the rom I would be more than happy to do it. I'm piss my pants excited about getting this going.

If so is this signed properly by HTC/tmobile?

I have not compared the version numbers to the 4/28 leak, but from prior comments, this is a newer one. The radio is the same, not the rom and whatever other booby traps are in it. We already had a pc10img of that rom I believe.
Edit: that one is 531.5 this one is 531.8. So yes different and according to football, final. Football you should edit the topic title to include the date to avoid confusion.

I'm DYING for someone to instruct us how to extract the rom out of this. I can't believe people are not on this like flies on ****. To all those not in the know, if you are rooted and all that, you do NOT want this. Someone will extract the actual rom out of this and turn it into a clockwork mod flashable, just like cyanogen, ginger villian, or anything else. As it is right now, this will update EVERYTHING on your phone. And obviously since its only a few hours old, no one knows if it can be rooted, if the bootloader can be made to be s-off, etc. So for most, we need to sit and wait. Only those skilled enough should actually flash this through the bootloader. I am going to run over to my laptop and try to learn real quick how to strip the rom out of this and make one of those flashable zips. I am sure I am over simplifying, but damnit I'm gonna try!

Dont do it official 2.3.3 sucks... and to downgrade to froyo in the future you will have to S-OFF and flash RUU which might be too hard for some people.
Either stay with Froyo or Root and use custom ROM's, trust me.

I have loads of people who wants to get away from the official gingerbread, because it s*cks on the danish android forum... Maybe some people thinks its fine, but most people who are trying it, thinks that it s*cks and they want to either go back to Froyo or get a custom ROM, which isn't easy with the official Gingerbread...
So please explain why you are saying stuff like that !!

Not easy eh, you just have to go to revolutionairy.io, click to download the program, fill in your desires serial number, you get code, run downloaded program, enable usb debugging on desire, fill in the code and the program does the rest for you.... Yeah really hard....

Didn't really wanna get into the argument but firstly, I have seen many people do the update.. and then their phone didn't even boot after it.. so well done HTC for releasing a possible phone bricker (since you can't do jack all if that happens with this RUU), You get less space on the GB update compared to Froyo (123mb vs 134mb) and there have been a few bugs reported..
HOWEVER...
You get improved battery life (by quite a margin apparently), The phone runs q lot smoother, you get the fastboot feature and better (stock) A2SD.

1. It's a TEST RUU, so you don't wanna be flashing it if you're stock
2. You can't flash a radio on it's own (apparently) as it's different to previous HTC phones

Uhhhmmm... The file has been sent to testers from HTC itself and people who are selected in the One X Elevate group.
The people from the Elevate group (most of them) have S-ON devices... So why wouldn't they be able to flash this test rom... THEY DID!
Only reason for not sharing is that the ROM may have watermarks and that way HTC could easier find the leakers, just like Sniper911 with the Gingerbread leak.
Those of us who have unlocked HOXS' can expect the next update sooner than those who have carrier branded devices.
Just be patient, from what I have seen with the HOX, HTC have stepped their game up in the "UPDATES" department.

I agree and it's awesome we get really great software support from HTC. I have a feeling it's because the International One X wasn't 100% finished with all its optimizations. This is great because us as consumers get our problems and bugs fixed quite fast from the feedback we give them. Unlike most android handsets but I guess you get what you pay for. My CM9 rom s based to the new RUU but I don't think the radio was applied to it. So far development for this phone is going great and I can't wait for an easy S-Off method.

[Q] Is upgrading RADIO a must?

Hi,
Is it a must to be on the latest RADIO? Does it have any benefits?
I wouldn't change your radio unless your current one has problems. It doesn't change much and can be risky (though I don't know of anyone bricking with a radio as of yet).

It's a matter of opinion, some members will flash a radio some wont. Sometimes the benefits are small so it's all up to you if you want to try them out.

Which ROM you have installed does not affect how you flash a radio. If you are S-OFF with AAHK (not HTCDEV) you flash them all the same way. Instructions are in the guide in the Ace Think Tank thread post #7, linked in my signature.
Thank you guys, you've been really helpful ^^
