Hey,
you should sign up to htc dev, then unlock your bootloader that way.
They explain everything easy, although HTC one X is not listed in the models, just use other supported devices. It works, i know cos i done it myself
goodluck!

You need to install the stock ROM, if you do:
fastboot getvar mainver
I think, and then you can find the RUU with the matching number and flash it.
Let us know what you get returned from fastboot command.
How to install stock Rom I think I have already install custom Rom, coz I have no vodafon logo or software, what is ruu? Actually I don't know anything about Rom and root. Plz help me..

Any ideas guys?
Out of the blue my phone stopped receiving any reception. Zero bars and a cross.
I tried flashing a different rom to it just incase it was a buggy rom, no luck.
I've tried my sim in another phone it works fine, tried a different sim in the one x no reception.
I took it to tmobile and they said I need to send it off, it's broke. It's rooted, will they still send it for repairs? If all else fails can I get a link to flash stock firmware please?
Thanks in advance for any help

You could do a full reset back to stock or you can try other roms first since you are rooted already.
Btw you should ask questions in the Q&A section not general.
oops sorry, I was linked to this section by another (gaming) forum I frequent.
How do I do a full reset to stock? (I'm currently on insertCoin rom)

You can get a link to the ruu in the development forums.
Lock the bootloader and run the ruu to restore the phone to factory stock. Hopefully this removes the security warning, but if not then you will have to cross your fingers and hope that when T-Mobile sends it to HTC, that either you just get a refurb/new phone and they get to deal with what is most likely a crushed antenna contact (just like wifi antenna, but on 3G...), but there is a chance that they will simply claim your warranty is voided due to "illegal software", which is really just repair-center speak for "HTC will not pay us to repair this phone because it was unlocked at some point".
So the steps are (I'm a complete noob)
Connect phone via usb
Open One X AIO kit
Command > Relock bootloader
Run RUU.exe
What screen should my one x be showing when I will run RUU on my pc?
Any other steps I'm missing?
Do *#*#4636#*#* in the dailer, go to phone information and make sure that its set to WCDMA prefered.
Well I tried these steps;
Connect phone via usb
Open One X AIO kit
Command > Relock bootloader
Run RUU.exe
I get error message;
"ERROR [140]: BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR"

Guys,
I urgently need assistance, I really need to have my mobile working very soon!
Heres my issue!
BOOTLOADER IS RELOCKED
and every command I run, I get the following ..
Sending Unlock_code.bin = FAILED DATA TO LARGE
trying to reinstall clockwork
Sending BOOT , then it says FAILED REMOTE not allowed
I am absolutely stuck in the bootloader loop with no recovery or any .IMG working.
Yes I have searched high and low to help me out all day literally all day and it's been stressing me out alot!
Please help!!
Kind regards
SOLVED MY PROBLEM AND MANY OTHERS MIGHT GET HELP FROM THIS.
First of all if you are having the issue I have please follow the next steps.
If you notice when you are in the Bootloader it will say RELOCKED ** SECURITY WARNING ** if so
Run this bat file with the cable connected until the ** SECURITY WARNING DISAPPEARS ** - http://www.speedyshare.com/b3WsH/Fas...y-recharge.bat
It should disappear after one reboot of charging when it does remove the cable and close the BAT file
Reconnect the cable and open a fastboot cmd window and run the "" fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin "" this will then allow write access and you should be able to use your phone again! my CM10 rom is still working and etc
Hope this helps for other people, please message me if i wasn't clear enough in above.

I have tried the RUU but it comes with the 140 ERROR

Cheers guys
usually when you have error 140 is because you have wrong hboot version (you have to be lower or the same than ruu),
watch in bootloader what hboot do you have and then download ruu from here http://htcruu.com/?dir=Endeavor
check if you have a branded phone or not, and which region (europe, asia...) and download the right one then try again

Hello, i just bought an HTC One X phone, it is running android 4.0.4 and sense 4.1 and it says in the info software version 2.17.401.2 , it is also rooted so i can't do OTA update. Now i want to have the latest officiel rom or custom rom ased on the official one, my question is where do i go from here, is it possible to go back to stock and do official update from there, or what do i have to do to, i don't mind using a custom made rom if it is a stable one.
EDIT: Some more info, the device says unlocked when i boot in recovery, i have standard recovery i think (white screen with 3 droids bottom)
HBOOT-0.96-0000
i can choose fastboot or recovery, simlock ...etc
Thanks for the tips guys.

Oke, start with charging the phone to 100% i will get the links and things you need .....
Edit :
In steps :
Put the phone in fastboot usb mode and relock the bootloader with this command :
Fastboot oem lock
Then keep the phone in the bootloader and execute this ruu with administrator rights
http://www.androidruu.com/getdownlo...Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_278245_signed.exe
When the ruu is finished and the phone boots into the OS you go to the settings - about - software update menu and check manually for updates. When they are available you continue to install these updates (there should be multiple updates)
If you don't get updates you can report back here and i can help you further to get updated.

The RUU says asia, is it ok if my phone is from UK?
Then it's imported into the UK, that's probably why they put the 2.17.401 rom on it ! It's the correct ruu.
The phone is originally from Asia !
Ok i did the RUU but now i only have english and asian languages, can i flash a european RUU after this one now ? it's annoying like that for me
EDIT: it does not detect OTA updates, am i even more screwed now ? or is there hope to go back to stock european version ?
You have English ? Whats the difference then ? And no you are not screwed. Relax .... in the end when we are done it will be all fine.

It would be just great, i love the phone, great device like always by HTC, well now we have to wait with my slow internet to get all that done.
No problem. I will check here from time to time anyway. No rush.....rushing things ends up in errors
The phonei s finally updated to android 4.2.2 ad sense 5, but now i have a very strange WiFi issue, wifi works for 10-30 seconds then nothing, it says it is connected but i have no network or internet access until i turn it off and on again, what can that be ?
EDIT: After investigatin the forum a little, it seems like a lot of people are having the same issue after the update :s, well i will end up using custom roms i guess lol
hey gyz,
i bought one USED vodafone Uk carrered htc desire hd..its maybe sim unlocked cuz i live in bangladesh n um using local carrer in it!
recently i tried to unlock the bootloader my htc desire hd by htcdev.com method.. at first when they asked me to check for updated ruu ,i saw that mine wasn't in the list, infact mine was more updated as i saw in the vodafone uk sector.
'the enlisted one was 3.13.161.3 n mine is 3.13.161.5' according to their say.. i skipped that as mine was latest regrading that one in the list..
everything went okay ..but when i tried to unlock the bootloader in fastboot by flashing the unlocktoken.. it's stuck with just showing "sending unlock token...blah blah' ..thats it! i waited for long, but nothing else comes up!!
now ,what should i do to complete te bootloader unlocking? or should i update ruu ? which one should i select then? vodaone uk one or Asia/india one ? (bangladesh is beside of india as well as it's in asia continent)..
help plzzz
Just rerun the unlocking boot loader process

Want to do it easiest way? Have to go with Chinese way then.
Go to www.mgyun.com download first thing you see with computer sign and v3.4.8 current. Once done with downloading,Install it in your pc,Connect your device and Open program and try to search for an icon look like "LOCK sign" somewhere under setting sign. Click on lock icon will prompt something in your device related to unlock bootloader. Press Vol. Up or Down to choose and Power button to select. It will wipe your entire device. But after that you'll have ***UNLOCKED*** bootloader.
Skip htcdev traditional old method. Chinese method does the same with everything in that program.,so that not have to have any sort of registration to get unlock_code.bin or any sort of trouble. This is easiest way you could ever find to unlock your device bootloader.
Rest is up to you.
Thanks.
solved!!!
finally i was able to unlock my bootloader with the unlocktoken in fastboot ..gyzz
wat i did this time is, i opened multiple command propmpt n stated the command multiple times altogether, the first one stayed stuck as i said..but the later one did the job foh me! :v tnx gyz for ur valuable suggestions those i would refer to upcoming stupid noobs like me !
hit thanks if im a noob!!!
Hey guys
got a HTC M9 with cid "O2___102" which won't boot up after stock update.
Phone was not modified yet.
1. Can't unlock bootloader (says: "(bootloader) [KillSwitch] Last Byte is 0X00, disable unlock") - so no way to install custom recovery + custom rom to revive
2. Can't boot into recovery (shows phone with a red exclamation mark but no menu) so no way to factory rest
3. can't find a matching RUU for the "O2___102" CID ...
PLEASE HELP =(
At the screen with the red triangle and exclamation mark, press and hold the power button. While holding the power button, quickly press and release the volume + button. If this gets you to recovery, try a factory reset.

The UK ones for O2 can be used with the German O2 CID, too. You can find them for example in my Collection of Back-to-Stock Files or on androidRUU. But I'm not sure whether a downgrade from android 5.1 is possible with S-ON. The only confirmed downgrades with S-ON were from 1.32.XXX.15 to 1.32.XXX.8. And from my experiences with Denis Meissner and Amr Nasser I would say that a downgrade isn't possible with S-ON if the first and/or the second number of the actual firmware version differ from the ones of the firmware you want to downgrade to.

Yeah, would have suprised me if it worked. As said before even downgrading from 1.40.XXX.X to 1.32.XXX.X seems to be impossible with S-ON. How long did you actually wait until you thought that you phone doesn't boot? The update to android 5.1 and the first boot took around an hour for me. Maybe you just need to wait a little longer. If your phone was unlocked I would suggest you to flash TWRP and use one of my stock backups but...
The only other option I can see right now is trying to find someone who has a java card. With S-OFF you should be able to downgrade with the RUU. (If I remember correctly there were one or two shops advertising their java card services on Android-Hilfe.) This option may not be for free but it should still be cheaper than sending your phone to HTC's repair service or buying a new phone.

whats that java card you're talkin about? Never heard of that.
An appropiate RUU with the latest version should theoretically also work, right?
Problem ist that I cant flash anything custom because bootloader locked and I cant get inside the system to enable the bootloader unlock... =( and the thing has a visually broken volume up key for dropping down, so the htc support won't fix it (for free) I fear.. otherwise I would just give it to them since it has not been modified yet. (not my phone ..)
P.S:
OS Version is 2.10.206.2 - thats the latest one right?

Yes, 2.10.206.2 is the latest version for now. If there were a RUU with your firmware version then using it would be the easiest way to solve your problems. But as far as I know the only existing ones for O2 are for 1.32.206.6 and 1.32.206.15. But with S-OFF you would be able to use the older RUUs, too.
I never used a java card so my knowledge about this topic isn't that outstanding. I know that it is a small, SIM-Card-like looking thing that allows you to S-OFF your phone. Usually they cost several hundred euros/dollars and the number of times you can use them is limited. Since verizon blocks bootloader unlocking these cards are the only option if a verizon users wants to flash anything on his/her phone. Some German phone shops offered S-OFF by java card, too, before sunshine got updated for the M9. That's why I gave you the link to Android-Hilfe. (And that's actually all I know about that topic.)
i need this rru please any one have to uplode link
thanks
Just as an update, I recently bricked this phone trying to flash lineage to it. To fix it, I went to HTC.com and downloaded the current RUU and put the phone into download mode. I know some people say you don't need to "relock" the device, but I don't get errors during the installation with RUU when relocked. Plus, I am running with S-on.

Bootloader and s status are irrelevant. The phone will flash regardless.
